Ha!
Lmao 😂 winner comment I’m dead that’s hella funny cuz it’s true 😂😂😂
That would be a very easy boss to defeat.

The chemistry between the two of them is really what makes the magic happen. The way they look at each other and just dial in.

Their ability to be a band after they got divorced has to go down in history. You can see their connection on Little Ghost when they are looking each other in the eyes and smiling singing the song. Such chemistry and were able to keep it going and have that connection straight through the music. Honestly gives me chills. They are the best ever.
You ever hear of a little band called Fleetwood Mac?
@@herc_ules_therealone Fleetwood Mac were a band before Stevie Nicks even joined the group, you realize that, right? When she joined people hated it, they didn't think it was the same band anymore. Looking back now we see Nicks as being synonymous with the band, but they were a huge band for a few years before she joined. All I'm saying though is that they existed before Nicks, and would have existed after, had they not kept it together as they did.
@@imaxdigital7052Of course I knew they were a band before Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham (who was asked to join, but not Stevie. Lindsay later went on to say I'm not joining without Stevie who was his then lover). Your comment is unwarranted, if a little ill-conceived. I was referring to the OC comment and the correlation of the relationships and break ups of Fleetwood Mac. I hope this is a learning experience to you.
@@herc_ules_therealone I was just saying that they wouldn't have fallen apart even if Nicks had left the band. I don't know what you're waffling on about, talking about learning experiences and whatnot. If anyone needs humbling, it's you.
@@imaxdigital7052 Of course you pretend to not know what I mean. The fact that you mentioned being humbled meant you did learn something. Now be a decent human and be on your way. I have no more time for people like you.
Meg is the heartbeat.
It doesn't happen without her.
@ Robert VanDeVeire : what a perfect analogy.
Well said man.😮
She keeps looking at JACK like let's get it on MF.
Spot on...Meg rocks...in her soul.
Her drums are tuned great for this set!
I wouldn't call myself a fan of the White Stripes, but I have a real soft spot for them after they played a show in Iqaluit, the capital of Canada's northern Nunavut territory. I can't say with absolute certainty, but I suspect they are the only major label act to have ever played a show there, and it was a big deal for the community. Jack and Meg showed a tremendous amount of respect to the Inuit that live there, both in playing the show and sitting with elders to hear stories of the people. They sure as heck didn't make much money doing a show for 600 people given the cost of getting there.
You gotta love people that are that generous with themselves.
This story is exactly why I love the white stripes and miss them so much
Yea. That Canada tour was AMAZING. HE EVEN PLAYED A cover of the traditional song, CATFISH BLUES, (HENDRIX,GOVT MULE also greatly cover this song) BUT JACK AND MEG, PLAYED THE SONG, ON A BOAT!! LIKE u could still see them from shore, but not hear that well. I'd give ANYTHING to hear the full version of Jack covering CATFISH blues. Warren Haynes in Gov't Mule covered that song...and just ripped on that song. Easily one of the best, guitarists still playing from another generation...
Damn I did not know that!!! My respect for them has grown tenfold after reading that, such a wonderful gesture by the band and their management team. I would like to think that they knew that what they would get in memories from that trip would outdo the type of money they would make playing to 3000 at Carnegie Hall.
When they were in Winnipeg for that tour they got on a city bus with a guitar and tambourine and played music for the riders on the way down to the Forks Market. They then found an old man busking and Jack and Meg played backup while he played lead and sang. So cool.
Under Great White Northern Lights was an EXCELLENT doc about that tour that I now need to re-watch.
It’s incredible that only two people can create that much sound.
Remember when The Black Keys were just two people?

Five. Five decades.
"100% original" 😂
Over 20 of their songs are straight-up covers, and their riffs are even less original. Still a great band, but "original" is not the most apt word for them
Meg is an incredible drummer, she has something that other great drummers don't, which is she looks Jack in the eyes and they jam together.
Spot on and I wouldn’t have thought of that 😊
People instantly hate on this type of thing but she was exactly what was needed. People will say that’s demeaning? Or maybe I’m projecting but it’s like the Beatles and Ringo. It’s like who the fuck cares what you’re capable of, are you capable of making this song better? And she did make all the songs better
the hate on Meg was so awful, her drumming and character were always EXACTLY what these songs needed. There were two people in this band and the songs needed both of them.
People hated Meg? I mean, I remember nerdy, male drummers going 'sHE's NOt a ReAL dRumMer!' but by and large I don't remember anyone else getting on her case.

I don't care what people say, that guy playing guitar's style perfectly compliments Meg White's drums.
Jack White^
Knows the drummers name but not literally the lead singer and guitarist!?
You know who had a good guitarist to compliment their playing?... This British cat named I think Ringo Starr or something like that.
I agree @Lee. I think its intentional. Its also the beauty of music, and what the music says is the real thing. With influences that he attunes to, Jack is a connoisseur of his style. He is a conduit when he plays. Meg's "barebones" style of drumming just further kicks in the attitude. Knocking down your front door type, that's the White Stripes.
Love megs drumming

I've enjoyed some of the songs from Jack's solo albums, but he hasn't sounded quite right without Meg whenever I hear his newer live stuff. The closest is with Daru on Saturday Night Live--that's the closest any drummer has been to getting to this energy.

As someone who was too young when they came out and found them later on I truly don't see why Meg would get any hate,. It's so utterly clear that she is such a HUGE HUGE part of the energy of the band and is incredibly good at keeping time and a solid solid drummer who isn't about showing off their ego.
It’s cause she’s really not that good or different or authentic, anyone can play what she plays. I still like the music but it’s fucking easy lmao

I Cant ever get over how fucking immense Jacks guitar tone is. No other guitarist has ever replicated this kind of sound. Simple and raw set ups work the best!
Not to mention, Meg is just such a powerhouse, sitting in the song, with no over crazy fills and just delivers on every performance. She reads Jack so well!
Simple and raw?, he’s using octave pedals and a bunch of other shit 😂😂😂😂
@@BlindingSun_ he is know for not using many pedals in his rig. Premdoniately a whammy pedal and big muff fuzz pedal. Other than that he doesnt use nuch else in terms of "tech."

@@littlewing90 I’d say an octave pedal is pretty tech as far as guitar sound goes. I wouldn’t use one but he doesn’t have a bassist I guess
Speaking as a drummer, watching and listening to Meg it is clear she has excellent technique. Her stick control, dynamics and time keeping are all very good, and her musicality is very evident. There’s nowhere to hide in an outstandingly successful two piece. The naysayers have mistaken simplicity for easy; they are very different things. Took the words out of my head.
It's easy to fool the ignorant that don't understand that genius is in the creative process not in technique like everyone thinks. That's why basic playing like this is esteemed and loved and a Van Halen cover band is nothing special even though they have excellent technical ability. Everyone chases technical levels thinking that's where the genius is.

In the world today everybody gets criticized if you aren't the 'greatest' something. Every drummer gets compared to about five drummers, every guitarist gets compared to about five guitarists, every singer has to be as good as five performers. Its crazy, I thought social media would go the opposite direction, but maybe the tiktok generation will change that. Ours is too used to record companies choosing a few bands, engineering and producing them to daeth, and thats what all music is compared to. Nobody can just listen and go "thats nice" and be happy with good music, it has to be the greatest thing ever. Certainly thats the impression you get off youtube. Although frankly I wasn't listening hard:)
Meg is, and always will be, one half of the White Stripes.
Yup, she is awesome!
Is her technique good? Not that much
Does it work for what she does? Absolutely
I love how people forget that The White Stripes origin was Garage Rock, a genre that has not real interest about technicalities. Sure Jack White was a prodigy whose technique makes you think "You're overqualified for this job", but he was also a nobody before TWS; he could arguably have stayed as one of the bunch, if it wasn't for Meg. @@PMurray2694 No chemistry and the songs are pedestrian. He is great but he doesn't click with the others. Good try but no cigar.
Yeah because without Jack, she never would have played the drums and hasn’t played since. Jack flexed “I’m such a great musician, it can be just me a garbage drummer and I’ll still sell millions of records.” More or less.
@@richsackett3423 My view is that Jack and Meg play well together and for a two-piece that is everything. Meg allowed Jack to steal the spotlight and dominate the show, but you can tell with the way they communicate with each other and the looks they give to one another that they are in this together. Jack White is amazing, but his best work artistically and especially musically is with the "White Stripes." It's about the songs, you can be a great artist and still have average songs. The White Stripes have amazingly good songs. Coincidences are for the weak minded, and Jack White did his best work with Meg on drums. There is a reason for that since Jack has played with a lot of good musicians since then and by his standards I think those songs and performances were average but still better than most.
@@morganhale3434 It always comes down to the songs, all of which Jack wrote entirely. Just because she was his muse behind a drum kit doesn’t mean her drumming isn’t rubbish.
Members of good bands are constantly visually communicating with one another. That would only be remarkable to the weak-minded.
It’s cool to see them having so much fun! Love them ❤
What talent! They make rock n roll not only fun to hear, but fun to watch. Love these two! ROCK ON!!👍👌👏🎼🎸🥁❤️
Me sitting here hoping this was some sort of reunion performance, then I saw the date in the description... I can still dream.
Same...
The chemistry between them is unbelievable. love them, and love Meg, I hope she's doing well now
I’m only very recently diving into the white stripes and this is the first live performance I’m watching.. the moment Meg started playing at the very beginning, all I could say was “I get it, I completely get it”. They’re on another level, seriously. They’re chemistry and the rawness of it all is just *chefs kiss*
Side note: One of my good friends started drumming ages ago specifically because of Meg and I think that’s so fucking cool
same here!
Those drumming man. It's incredible. Simple yet it elevated this whole performance. It's something. Was blown away first time I listened.
I’ve been in hospital for 4 months & I’ve had the day from hell; but seeing this made it all ok
hope you are feeling much better! ♥️🤍🖤
that’s the great thing about music it has the power to take your mind and put it a better place.
join my chan surfer rosa
What happened?
*Hope the best health to you*
Something about the little interaction at 13:44 is just so perfect. I love the way that meg is sympathetic with whoever broke the bell and the way the talk like siblings or an old married couple.
¿Brothers?
it’s cool that they got along that well even tho they were divorced
"We don't use that one anyway, Jack" Oh I miss Meg so much, her and her drumming were so fantastic.
From the first cord it hits you like a proverbial brick in the face. long live rock.
Meg is my favorite kind of drummer because she's not the person you would expect to be a drummer but that's what makes her perfect.
I love how meg loses her drum stick at 19:43, still powered on til the end, what a true rocking band man
Not only does she recover perfectly...she picks up TWO sticks AND a Maraca!!!!!!!! RESPECT FOR MEG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love bands where the other members are seen singing along while playing even though they dont sing, its great. It shows what love they have for their friends and the songs they make
Noticed. Facts.
Husband in this case.
I enjoyed this video. It took me many years before I listened them. That’s a lot of entertainment from just 2 people. I applaud them for whipping me up with excitement and intrigue. I started to practice rudiments when I was 12. I never got a set of drums until I was 19. I never had lessons, but I had my fun with them. I sold the set to a rehearsal studio because we had to move. So for 30 years no set. Out of sight out of mind. But I always slapped my knees to the songs I heard on the radio. Fast forward to 5 years ago at 50 and husband bought me an electronic set. I was over joyed. I started practicing and playing to music I liked on UA-cam. An old friend comes over and for fun he plays his guitar and we jam. A few months later he asks me to join his band. So as of last year Sept. we have a 7 piece band and I’m still pinching myself. We recorded 11 songs and …..I’m still pinching myself. We are not metronomed or clicktracked. We are organic and flawed and beautifully magic. When you feel everyone’s vibe and in the magic zone that’s all that matters. Lots of laughs and the camaraderie is like a family really. Now, whenever we attempt to play live for an audience I will remember the comments I’ve heard here on this UA-cam video. I won’t be, and am not discouraged, but it’s really sad to hear so many people dissing others who are having fun and playing what feels right for themselves. Why all the put downs? There could be a video or picture of the sky and people will argue whether the sky is blue, green or purple. It is subjective, everyone has their own take, all our realities are different from each other’s. To say someone is awful or sucks, by always comparing, comparing, apples to oranges? If all fruit were oranges then we’d never know how good an apple was. Two of the lowliest traits to have as a human being are “disrespect” and/or “jealousy” of a fellow human beings achievements. Attacking their self expression is nuts. Each and everyone of us is special and we all add our creativity and passion to this world. Life is so much more interesting when we strive to be ourselves, and not make art for others but to let ourselves be free to create what feels good for our liking. That’s when things are organic and tasty.
Not sure how it's possible but Jack is actually under-rated. His genius on guitar, lyrics, vocals, style, everything, is amazing.
Idk where you're getting underrated from..? Dude was literally invited to play with the Edge and Jimmy Page, the latter considered being considered one of greatest and most influential guitarists of all time (see "It Might Get Loud")? That wasn't an accident. He's fronted *several* commercially successful rock bands and his solo career continues to flourish. Me thinks you need to do a bit more research lol
Definitely not underrated.
I really miss this band. I hope Meg is thriving and happy and enjoying life outside the spotlight. As much as I'd love to see some type of reunion tour, I really just want Meg to be happy. We'll always have the memories
I love how meg always looks totally pissed at jack.
Divorced right?
@@DesertSessions93 😂😂😂
I don't think it's a pissed look. To me she looks turned on yo
pissed? she looks turned on to me
Just the way she plays to certain songs!!
The white stripes was a living, breathing organism that only existed as long as it needed to
I saw The White stripes at a small venue in Akron Ohio they were by far hands down the best band I've ever seen in concert EVER!!!!! put on a top notch show that I still think about to this day listening to their music.
Didn't know the homie from V for Vendetta played guitar
Guy, you got me rollin wit that one
V. His name was V.
@@ExPostFactoBass nah his name was joe
He looks like a character in RDR2.
No, it's Stuart from Letterkenny.
First off, this is amazeballs! Thank you. Secondly, it's really a shame they only lasted ten years or so, because they were hands down, no doubt the greatest live band of the 21st Century! Every show I saw blew me away and I've been to hundreds of concerts in my life. I miss them terribly, and I'm so glad these videos exist for those that never got to see them live.
Couldn’t agree more. Been to hundreds of concerts but the 7 magical nights I spent in a room with jack and Meg were some of the absolute best.
:,( im so happy and somber reading these, im so glad to hear other people say what I can only imagine. I've been to hundreds of concerts as well but never my favorite band. Although I've seen Jack to some capacity 6 times, never had the chance to see TWS. I can only imagine.
Best of the 21st century?, easy tiger 😂
Loooove this band, Meg is HALF the band, she’s perfect!
That was awesome Original that’s what I love about this band it’s so unique
Man, I just can't get over how incredible Blue Orchid/Party of Special Things sounds here. The beginning of Party is one of the heaviest, chunkiest riffs I've ever heard coming from a guitar with incredible sounding reverb and weight. I get goosebumps every time the transition happens
Try listening to Sleep.
dude i listen to this over and over and over it’s so fucking heavy 😂
I know it almost sounds like a bass.
@@Bapuji42 look up octaver pedal. That's the secret to this sound. Basically takes what jacks playing, pitches it up or down an octave (can be adjusted in settings) and adds it to the signal. So basically you have what jack is playing and also a sound from the pedal that's an octave lower. Add some fuzz and then you have a thick ass jack white sound.

Thank you so much for your support, I'm proud to have you as a fan, i know you may be surprised but i feel the need to know those outside my career. I love you all and let love lead.
@@jackwhite1030 You're not THE Jack White, so don't take credit for his genius.
Why is this sooo good ..love these two
How two people rock the way they do is mental 😳 love it
Totally agree. Just perfection
