In this weeks video I acquire a 1993 Toyota Pickup and work towards getting it running and driving again. With a bit of determination, and a bit of laborious efforts we greatly improve this truck and get it running again! I absolutely love working on these old Toyotas and look forward to getting this truck back up and going!

1992 toyota pickup, guaranteed to outlast any new truck now! Love those trucks!
These old 22re engines never truly die!
Im 50 seconds in and I see this truck with a badass flatbed on it in the near future
If only I had the time for that right now!
I’m a serious Toyota/lexus enthusiast and you’re my first pick on UA-cam bro ! I’m from Baltimore Maryland ! I got a gx470 (05) and a 2000 3rd gen 4Runner lifted 5 inches on 33 inch tires with 292k miles no check engine lights runs like new !
I seriously appreciate that! I try to make quality content about Toyotas, they are awesome and seem to last forever!
"That wath thupid" Fantastic XD. Aint nothin to it but to do it.
15:27 "That was stupid"
I'm dying. 😂
Need more 1988-94 Toyota pickup 2.4 automatic like that. Need more videos like this.
If I didn’t have many vehicles like you, I’d buy that pickup. I had a 86 SR5 and I loved it. I drove it from South Carolina to Oceanside, California all around for four years and back the North Carolina. Bought it second hand in 95 and it was great. I really didn’t want to get rid of it but needed a car instead. They are tough little trucks.
Thank you for your videos! I’ve honestly learned so much from them. I picked up a 89 4Runner and your videos have taught me so much about it and problems I’m facing.
Dude I genuinely look forward to these videos. They're so interesting and fun to watch lol. You're great with older toyotas
Glad you like them! I love these old Toyotas and thoroughly enjoy getting them back on the road!
Enjoying the content. Fun watching regular pick ups get a second chance at life.
Thanks, I love getting these old Toyotas back on the road!
I have nothing but praise for
Toyota Trucks
how do i always find cool small channels to watch with my cocktail on sunday nights. this is fascinating.
This is so awesome! It’s awesome to see you revive this older Toyotas. I hope to see you do a full body work and respray and also interior detail/restore on some of your Toyotas mainly your Hilux and your Toyota Corolla!😀
More to come on the Corolla and hilux! I’ve got big plans for both!
I had a 1992 Mazda b2200 back in 1995. I miss that little truck to this day. It was the last model year before Ford started using them as the Ranger, so it still had the "boxy" body style. It was extremely reliable and got great fuel mileage. That Toyota just reminds me of it a lot. But, those 22re Toyota engines were one of the most reliable and durable ever made by any company.
I really enjoyed this Video. I am impressed with your knowledge of engines. It’s nice to see a young Person really learning and interested in Cars. Well done!
Thank you very much! I’ve loved engines and cars since I was a kid and enjoy working on cars and trucks a lot!
15:16 Happy truck...
🤣
Awesome pickup and video😀
@@Oyvind88 thanks! Still try to decide what I want to do with it!
I am rebuilding my Toyota base model 1992 pickup now also. I have a box. Mine is a 4x4. Hoping to supercharge mine.
@@billhansen6855 that sounds like a super cool rig! A little boost would be nice in a 4x4!
Dude your awesome af for brining back these old 22rs I do the same and I love it !! Keep it up I’m learning a lot from you
What I'd tell most guys who have a car that needs work and is just sitting on their property is to just sell it. You're never going to fix it "when I retire", and by the time you get to retirement, the thing will be a pile of metal flakes anyway.
Yeah new video thank you bro for uploading more content your video make my day bro even though I no nothing about cars.
@@tonysflores4351 i appreciate that! I try to be informative and entertaining!
Dude you legit find the gems, I need to move where you are because I literally can't find anything I want to build in my area for a decent price smh..
It takes time and patience to find them, and I don’t always get the “best” deals, but I enjoy old Toyotas so much I make it work!
Same year my dad had and I grew up with. Sold at almost 400k. Best Toyota truck ever especially with the 22RE
That’s awesome! I’m sure this old truck is ready for many more thousands of miles now!
I am a Toyota fan boy because of my 1997 Toyota Hilux and the Hilux has done more than 195000 miles and wnen l bought five years ago no service history or records it has been a running and registered for the past five years has had an absolute full service done on the Hilux and another thing is the cylinder head has never been off it and l don't have a electric fuel pump on it because it has a carburator and the mechanical fuel was replaced before l brought it you got the Toyota ute running and you had all the parts to repair the Toyota ute well l don't keep a stock pile of parts to do anything what you did to this Toyota ute but well done you brought a Toyota ute back so some one else can enjoy the Toyota ute
I’ve got so many old Toyotas that it just makes sense to keep all these parts around, especially since I enjoy buying ones that don’t run!
@@redlineranch. Keeps you busy and l do enjoy watching you get any older Toyota running
FINNALY an old toyota saving guy!! 😅 Gotta say you know your stuff!
Have an ‘06 4cyl Tacoma I bought new with 148,000. Love your channel
Excited to see another video! Keep it up bro!
I appreciate it! Working hard to get content out regularly!
That old fuel is perfect for parts washing.
Noted!
Lots of possibilities with putting a new bed!
@@TRONABORON I agree!
The fuel pump is powered via the circuit opening relay from 1 of 2 circuits. Airflow meter circuit is for when it is running. The other circuit powers it when you're actually cranking.
It had honestly been a while since I had delved into the electronics of a 22re so I couldn’t fully remember!
The perfect truck
Can’t go wrong with a classic Toyota!
@redlineranch. I can't find a cheap one, so i picked up an 89 celica convertible
Hell yeah dude awesome work
Thanks bro, I appreciate it!
Would a full size pick up bed fit on the frame? A small truck being able to haul a full sheet of plywood would be awesome.
All ways change the coil when uou get a truck or a car 👍
I got a 96 diesel its done over 400k and still goes well
A custom camper on the back would be cool.
That would be awesome, if I had the time and resources to get it done!
I just had the biggest belly laugh when that gas throated you!
Great job with diag
The truck body will rust to dust before those Toyota engines give out.
Great Video ! Thanks ! 🙂🙂🙂
Glad you liked it!
Sweet video
That’s why I preaching not to use the Felpro headgasket.
And if you read the reviews on the Chinese heads, they all round off the cam lobes in no time. That’s why I buy all the 22r/e heads I find, they are getting difficult to find.
The previous owner didn’t do anything wrong maintenance wise, they just made a poor decision with the reman purchase.
It would be fun to build a custom camper for the back of this. Maybe lift it a little and put in a rear locker and a winch
I was just wondering about the ghost in the hammock at 39:32 min....
Every 90’s Toyota you see in Afghanistan has at least 500,000 miles I’ve seen some with 800,000 miles!!!! Toyota runs Afghanistan literally!
We want more videos of the Hilux 1973, that one is badass
Coming soon! Trying to decide what direction I want to go with the truck!
Love from morocoo ✌
I always love to hear where my subs are from! I appreciate the support!!
How about an auction for your subscribers? I'll throw in an airline ticket back home if you deliver to Seattle! My last vehicle was a 74 HiLux, which I drove over the mountains to Seattle in 1989. I sold it for a pittance when I moved downtown. This would be perfect for street parking... less likely to get broken into or stolen!
That’d be great, but I’m not sure I’d be interested in trying to get the logistics figured out, and also not sure about the legal side of how that would all work.
Subscribed...,Kickass!! Timmy C Arizona
Awesome to hear! Appreciate it!
Great job. You might try 0000 steel wool to clean off rust.
Great suggestion, I didn’t think about that!
Love these videos. Thanks for putting them out.
First truck was a 1992 Toyota 4x4 single cab. I’ve had a 1996 2wd Tacoma and 2000 2wd Tacoma. Currently have a 2001 4Runner and 2012 Tundra. Still miss that 1992, though.
If you don’t mind, what state do you live in? Would interested in possibly buying the one you fixed in the video.
That’s so rad! I’ve obviously got a few Toyotas myself!
I’m out of New Mexico
God that cup holder. my 02 Corolla had the same cup holder. it sucked lmao
Please dont change the timelaspe music i love it 😆
Noted! Finding music is soooo difficult!
Get a couple of the turbo rustoleum cans and give the bed a repaint
That’s a good idea!
What's interesting is the link between Harrison GM Radiators and one inside a Toyota pickup? Is that a different Radiator someone installed? Or is that OEM being something i have no idea about?
I noticed that, I assumed it was an aftermarket radiator that someone had installed at some point.
I would give you 1400 for this truck if you wanted to sell it and then put another 16 hundred into it in paint and body..very nice work sir
Good work!
Hey, what size shop do you work out of?
Thanks! It’s a 24’x24’ 2 car garage with 8’ ceiling, a little small for my liking but I make it work!
@@redlineranch. It's about the size my city will let me build. Sometimes bigger is not better. I enjoy watching you bang out tons of work. Cheers!
Where can I get such a running truck?
Cool went on? How much are you going to sell it for? What city you in?
I want one of these old Toyotas so bad! How do you be finding these things
I’m always on the lookout! It’s not easy!
I saw the question and my immediate response is, "Of course it will."
Also, you look awfully familiar.
Don't worry Martha I'm reconing my f. Okay 👌
Where are you located ? I’ve owned a 73 Hilux when I was 17 and since then 79,82 Toyota 4x4 82 Tercel SR5 , 85 Corolla , 89 xtracab 2 wheel drive 2010 Corolla and lastly 2012 Tacoma . Would like a project like the pickup your showing .
That’s quite the lineup of Toyotas! I’m in the SW US
Good content, man! 😅
You are now my "First Check" when I fire up UA-cam!
Same!
I seriously appreciate that, awesome to hear!
Very much appreciated!
Buy a over side camper put it right on the frame creglist , over side then enlarge the bottom as it don't need to be smaller to fit In the bed
That’d make a sweet camping rig!
@@redlineranch. I was looking online doing my transit rv seen this and if you got those you can box your own truck camper box uhaul. Goggle this 4" x 7" x 0.375" Carbon Steel Angle A36 Hot Rolled
One thine I was thinking of a bread box type, yiu can do this too. Looking from the outside the second story ha a large sliding window that has a patio w Chair so park yiu can be above people walk under you as a second story housed padio. Inside the other 1-2 space would be a bed our couch or refrigerator. If you need a trick here I show you how,. So your rv would really have a two story in it and you can extend either on the wall side as you don't wake there kids or cats love it carpeted looking down. Oyea my interior is boat life rope net, fish net color floater brass boat still. And aqua color . You should do it, think of the rent a room saving....lol
The hardest about building a box it has poor side pushing strength. Wood can't cut it then you need side bracing.
Flat bed all day !!! Thanks for making these videos, have you ever thought of putting a diesel engine in one of?
Yes I have and I’d love to do that sooner than later, but finding the engine I want in good condition is proving difficult!
@@redlineranch. have you ever thought about merch ? Also do you have a brother on “Grind Hard Plumbing “ ?
@@dkight18 I’m actually currently going through some design and trying to find a quality screen printer to get some merch developed! I want to make sure it’s quality and worth people spending hard earned money on!
Yes my brother just recently started working with grind hard
The coil is bad change it 👍
I kept trying to get my motorcycle started for an hour before I realized she was out of gas.
Drinking old gasoline apparently can be life changing 🤯
Cool videos, enjoy a new sub!
for next time....you needed to put zinc paste on the cam lobes before you fired it up as well as use a high zinc oil...as the zinc in the oil won't adhere to the cam and and protect the lobes/rockers until the engine makes it up to operating temperature...the paste will provide metal to metal protection until this temperature occurs....modern off the shelf oils do not have the proper amount of zinc..especially for non-roller rockers/cams....you may have already doomed the replacement cam lobes as you can't reverse the process...but it's a toyota so maybe not.
I know exactly what you mean, I would agree more, but the cam was already broken into a different engine and used so I figured the oil and assembly lube would be sufficient
@@redlineranch. it's easy enough to pull the valve cover off a couple of hundred miles from now and take a look at the cam...a lot of assembly lubes have higher zinc just for this purpose...some have moly or both which works as well.
Flatbed it forsure
What !! They took the bed and left the good half?
@@ponchotran9004 right! It’s in great shape for what it is!
Douglas bed!
That lack of a bed says flat top with Quad 4 wheeler tie downs.
Adventure ready!
W-58 or R-150 manual transmission time ??!
Definitely! The turbo truck needs some serious revision!
HAWK TUAH SPIT ON DAT THANGGGGGGGG
Don't worry bro i didn't forget about you because me and you went threw a lot of shit remember 💯 man so hang in there Okey got it 👌 🤷 😌 😏 🤧 😉 👌
My Guy! Spray some brake clean or starting fluid. It's so simple! Pull a plug and ground, make sure you got spark. I am pulling my hair out! Dude! It is so simple! Why, why, why? WTF! Oh, with maybe you are trolling the arm chair techs. ....
God damn you're good dude. Respect.
Much appreciated!!
Where’s you location?
Flatbed is better than a trashed bed
I agree! But I don’t have the time to fab one up that’s quality right now unfortunately
Whats better than a second Hilux,a third Hilux
A flar cam is due to lack of hardening
Engine too clean - cause blown head gasket?
I don’t think so, I think it was a poorly maintained engine that was recently replaced and not properly taken care of!
You might consider giving it away
Would be nice, but lots of logistics and legalities involved in give always
It's doggie approved!
i used to have one of those trucks. the transmission went at 242k miles. replacing it was more than just buying a newer truck. that still makes me sad.
It's only seen half its life
There’s no reason these trucks can’t make it to half a million miles if properly maintained!
I’m interested in buying a Toyota truck if you are looking for buyer im in Texas panhandle near Amarillo.
Hay JOHN JOHN MY twin brother you told me about all thoeses up grads man remember I DON'T HAVE TIME TWO BLEAD HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHA I NEW YOU WERE FOLLOWING ME HAHAHA WHATS UP MAN YOU MANEEEACT HAHAHA
its cuz it dont got any gas in it 😂
Flat bed 👍🙏✝️
Tasting bad fuel ! That was stupid!!! lol !!!!!
@@primeBRAZEN I blew into the return to see if it was clogged and it came back out with the pressure
Where I come from
MEK.
I thought that shit was banned?
Flat bed
I might make a flat bed for one of my trucks eventually! Seems to be a bit of interest in that
1:05 Funny thing that in my 1990 Japan made 1.8 liter got that same place a square plastic with no cup holders! 😄 They never put those in European models as no one needs them! 😄 And those tail lights you can get new ones about 10$ a piece when you need just got mine new as it is spotless perfect!
It’s wild haw different markets got different features! I’ll look into the taillights too!
if it had a carby it would start
Carbs can be cool, but not my favorite
