HVAC foam and weatherstripping materials for doors and windows work great as well. You could also use a thick rubber door sill sweep (attaches to the bottom of the door to negate drafts between rooms, etc.). I do like your inner tube/pool float idea, though, as it's likely cheaper, and you can pick up a lawn tractor inner tube for less than $10 and install or remove it quickly as well. Ingenuity! 🥂

315,000 miles even dough it over heated and fan a issue. It still ran little tlc and she is fully functional again. Can’t beat a Toyota. I bet it never needed a new engine. The issue radiator fan and hose etc. great job and loved the content. Yes do longer videos and please up load the trip thanks.
I know you were on a time crunch but its kind of crazy that you didnt replace everything you could while you had everything taken apart. I would have replaced the timing chain, the guides, front main seal,water pump, all of it bro.

The longer videos cover a lot of the little things that people need to realize arise when youre working on a used vehicle that you have no prior history of....things that are broken, missing, or just adding an upgrade.

My father had the exact same truck bought it new and it had like 350k when he sold never did anything to it other than oil changes those are good trucks

My suggestion for videos is to make short videos based on specific vehicles, then when you amass a number of them, edit them together and post compilations. That's the best of both worlds. Also, don't limit yourself to one or the other. Go with your gut if a video could/should be longer or shorter. Let your work schedule dictate what you produce, not what you think people may or may not necessarily want. The work will find its audience, and people can watch content at their own speed. Keep up the great work, my dude!

scrolling past your video an im a toyota fan, I would recommend getting some support brackets underneath the fiberglass for your rooftop tent over time it may crack. Great content keep it up. Suprised you didnt clean the timing chain housing

Yep bought a Lexus that sounded fine and it ended up being a head gasket :( I’m used to cars making weird noises when it has that or smoke out the pipe but I guess these cars just have exhaust gas that goes into the coolant instead of the mixing
Im a new subscriber, and man do I like Tacoma content. I have an Access Cab TRD Sport that I overland/camp out of, but this makes me want to go buy a regular cab 5spd truck for pure roadtrips lol. Great quality, i do enjoy the longer videos.
@redlineranch. that's way better than I'd have thought with the RTT on the canopy. I'd keep my 4x4, but buy a regular cab in addition, so I wouldn't really miss out on anything. And what you did is exactly what I'd want, so I'm glad you have this pretty in depth video for when I need it 😆

Awesome truck! If ya ever want to swap the steering wheel, all toyotas use the same spline and are interchangeable, some cool info for toyota guys haha
My 1st thought was the condition of the frame..... I wonder if it was replaced under warranty or maybe they never affected Trucks out of Rust Belt...... I love the channel had a 81 Toyota Pickup years ago.... I had no idea how many it had on it .... I love all Trucks owned a 01 2.2 S-10 for 20 years now..... I have to much Blood Sweat Tears and Beers invested in it..... I'll never sell it

You can order a cruise control module and plug it into the wheel behind the wheel, I think the guts should be in there. My regular cab had it added in.
With the seats...i would think you can jump a pin n the truck thinks someone is in it....but it works n stops the beeper wenu buckle up......gd luck....i got the same truck but 5-speed
Not sure if you did this, I would run ether a flat bar or u channel on the underside of the tent. Washer is ok ish I would want spread the weight out more evenly

I think I need to look for one! My grandsons senior year project is his, I think his is a 2012, had around 300k+ miles motor took a spoopie, he went 5.9L cummins route/stickshift, had no bed, he just modified an LC79 landcruisers fold down bed, for it in May, hes also making his own 4 season camper. Doing alot of the alum work right now, hes hoping to be done before winter gets here so he can test it out roaming his pa's property. Its almost done, then he will break everything down for paint. His other projects? Last year he built a 240z around a 6.2L from a challenger, his Mazda Miata, has a 5.2L from a gt350r, his 55 belair? Has a honda K28 crate motor swap. He has a 91 mustang notchback with a toyota supras 6cyl turbo swapped in. He has a mini cooper with a honda b18c5 from an integra. Hes building an older Honda CRV right now, with a 2023 Honda Civic Type R as a donor, hahaha...

He said hes got other things to do, recording and making episodic content doesnt appeal, I said dont you watch videos all the time, he said hes actually trying not to, and to not be so connected on social platforms or invested in them. I said more pet videos for me...i felt embarassed to be honest haha.
Do longer videos they are very entertaining it will maintain overtime growth with subscribers too

If you blow up a inner tube between the cab and camper shell you can leave the split window open and A/C will make it way into bed

Also I used to have a plywood shelf going from bed side to bed side so the dog could lay right in the window.

2nd Gen Tacoma single cab 2wd trucks are really special vehicles. No one gives them any love but they are such good little trucks.

I had cruise on a 1972 ford van a broom stick handle between the gas pedal and the bottom of the seat set at 60 mph when it was 55 mph USA wide
I love the idea of using a broom stick for a cruise control!

@@taconomad it did awesome on the highway, averaging about 22 mpg over the 5k miles with the tent! I’m sure a 5sped would do even better

2tr-fes make good highway cruisers. when I swapped my 4runner it went from being absolutely gutless on the highway to being a good highway cruiser.
