"So much room for activities" 🤣😅 Great movie dude. That truck's a little beast. I just tore my 22RE down to the block because there was coolant missing and found in the oil. I thought it was the head gasket but when I tore it down, I realized the head gasket wasn't burnt through anywhere (although not in ideal condition at all) so now I'm kind of just in over my head. These videos are great and wish I would have found them sooner; I would have kept my intake manifold on the head when I took it off. Jesus!
Check your timing chain and timing chain guides! The chain can eat through the guides and into the aluminum timing cover through to the coolant passage, causing coolant in the oil, I’d also recommend haveing the head checked and possibly decked at a machine shop for the best results of the head gasket repair!
I ran into the key issue on my 04 tacoma. There was a complete cluster of issues that eliminating one thing led to another. That's one reason why I'm swapping it to a manual right now. I discovered your channel yesterday at work and I'm subbed now. Thanks for the content
My 1987 Toyota pickup had a 1uz/ w58 swap. 250 hp and tq at the crank. 373 ring and pinion open diff. It ran a consistent 14.1 @ 98-98 mph in the quarter while spinning all the way through 1st, 2nd and part of third. It now has the 300 hp/tq 1uz vvti /w58. I made some diy caltracs traction bars following a guy on UA-cam. Now both wheels hook from a dig with the open diff. I wasn’t expecting much from the traction bars but they work 100%. I’d suggest trying it out. The parts were not very expensive. Just took sometime and planning. I haven’t returned to the track with the new setup yet.
I definitely am going to need either trac bars or I was debating doing a true 4 link suspension with coilovers, but for now I want to get my diff welded, or a locker and good grippy wheels and tires, then I’ll do a trac bar and from there see what it needs, it’s also not really my “drag car” so we’ll see how I like it with a little more grip and decide what direction I’d like to go after some seat time!
Fwiw, pinging may also be a result of ignition timing. When adjusting boost or fueling, you also need to adjust timing to get the optimal corner of performance to no-det. Awesome video though!
I actually don’t think I’ll need a manual ECU for run-ability, It seems to do pretty good, up until I cracked the exhaust manifold and stopped building boost
@@redlineranch. I think it was 17. May of been 18 but for sure was 89mph. 500’ elevation with 103 octane 🤦🏻♂️. Didn’t understand octane then haha figured it would help but probably hurt!
@@redlineranch. air down a little and if you do a burn out just do enough to clean tires off. Radials don’t get good traction like slicks do when they’re hot.
I only payed 160 dollars for my TOYOTA and rebult the same parts in the motor and it went 85 and 87 MPH HAHAHA YES WERE GOOD MOTOR BUILDERS YEAH BABY SPICES MARTHA 😅
Love the content, on one of my turbo cars as soon as I put sticky tires on it and got traction it performed a rod delete. I will be looking forward to further updates on your turbo projects, also are you running non-tuned ecm's? its very impressive to me if these were originally non turbo cars and you added 14+ psi without a tune on the ecm for it.
Best thing you can do to a Tacoma/Hilux ute is put a manual gearbox in it well my Hilux came with a manual gearbox with actually makes them easier to sell and worth more in Australia and many years ago l drove a sixth generation Toyota Hilux with the 2.7 litre four cylinder engine and it was automatic it was a loan vehicle from a panel beater when my Mazda Bravo was been repaired and l did enjoy driving my Mazda Bravo with its 2.6 litre 4 cylinder engine but fortunately it was manual and it was so much better to drive than that automatic Toyota Hilux
That’s what I was thinking, but I’m also so new to drag racing that I’m sure more seat time will help everything a ton too. So more traction mods and more seat time is my next move on this thing!
Dude I knw you want the sleeper look, but there are alloys out there that looks sleeper. Just remove those steel wheels, its heavier and it has less air flow for brakes than alloy wheels its a complete eyesore and its burning my eyes 🤮🔥
not only is it for a sleeper look, but a quality set of wheels that actually looks good with sticky tires is a pricey setup. I do eventually want a good setup, just not sure when that will be on the table.

Time to get you a manual transmission ECU

yes, its currently on a completely stock ECU, the only aftermarket parts to support the power is a fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel pump.
Looked awesome on Dyno. 👍🏻👏

Would have been real dope if you did a column manual swap so no one can tell when you're at meets lol
