Max & his band did perform with Palmer on Conan O'Brien's old show but, other than that, i'm pretty sure they didn't tour with him cuz they were busy as Conan's house band. The hispanic man on lead guitar (Eddie Martinez) however, was a part of Robert's band for many yrs.
Who is the drummer? Okay, guess I'll google it. Incredible mix on the drums the the bass drum drives!!! His syncopation is so punctuated. Wow! Excellent!
@Raven Wood Wow! I'm beyond flattered!🙂 Such a kind gesture! I'd be honored to wear your latex designs. I'm a lil spent that the convos not completely celebrating the amazing underrated artist "Mr. Robert Palmer"! Lol ..But still humbly appreciative of your kindness. Absolutely ❣
Yeah, but In Max;s defense, he doesn't hold himself out to be other than what he is, a (great in MHO) Jersey shore band drummer. No pretension. Nice guy too.
Was thinking exactly the same thing - Tony T worked very, very hard on his groove - especially with a monster musician like Bernard, constantly looking over his glasses at him.
@@pickout2 Ha ha ha. I'm a white drummer and played funk for many years. Yes Max is missing the groove with this and the bass player sounds like he just learned it moments before playing live. Max is over-doing it with the cymbals. Tony kept it simple and used the hi-hat for emphasis. RIP to both Tony and Robert.
Much as I loved Tony Thompson and still do, I preferred to listen to his studio recordings. Live he was less enjoyable, as if he was hitting drums too fast.

Mike Merritt, and that is the Max Weinberg Seven from Conan O'Brien's show doing the music work. Funny thing is Mark Pender who is on trumpet actually played on this track in-studio!
Awesome, besides the guitarist absolutely slaughtering the guitar riffs on this performance, he took all the depth of the song away by playing it in a super lazy way.
For those whining this just doesn’t sound like Tony Thompson or John Taylor, I say, “Good.” You can’t say you like individual style and then complain the record isn’t playing instead. Max isn’t a funk drummer and John Taylor was about as soulful as a piece of cardboard. That funk play on the original is by the numbers.
The drummer keeps messing this song up. I don't care how good he supposedly is. He isn't nowhere near as close as the original. The feel is absolutely off and I love this song
So much Class.. sext.. gone too soon. !
Robert Palmer was Awesome. Only rocker that could also pass for a stock broker. What a look.
Maybe he is naturally intelligent could be more intellectual than most broker.
The rocking crooner look.
The English Julio Iglesias

@bonechip01 You can't be serious with that profile pic 😂 Come on, my guy. Phil, in his prime, had enrire stadiums of women "readily available".
drummer Max weinberg is incredible
The mighty, mighty Max Weinberg drummer for the E Street Band...
@user-js6pm3bx3y You do not play with a legend like Springsteen if you are not incredible.
But he’s not better than Tony Thompson…sorry!
He knows his role. Not like posers with a 100+ set like the guy on Rush.

Damn...Max is one of the most muscular drummers I've seen. Precise yet has lots of power.
Is that who the drummer is ? Is Max! He is so cute. Powerful is right! Handsome as well

Max! You are an awesome drummer! Anyone know where is is now? The whole band just rocks!
