+phuturephunk It's a recording technique called "gated drum" that's responsible for the amazing drum sound. It's a techniques used in a lot of songs, but "Some Like it Hot" by Power Station, and "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins are the songs most often cited as examples. "Bennie and the Jets" By Elton John also has a fantastic sounding gated effect on the drums.

Rambo Rocky Karate kid breakfast klub the movies were perfect. Huey lewis Sindy lauper. Rick James Peter setera kenny loggins Jorge Michael I mean kmon now. The music was perfect. the technology might be better. But honestly... If you have to hunt 4 it that just proves my point. KREAT Music shouldn't be a needle in the haystack. In the 80s it was on ALL the stations. and MTV. Was there krap music? Sure but it wasn't advertised. The industry was refined and only put the best stuff on. Now they just tont Kare. It's like the people in the industry have become idiots. It ain't the musicians vaults. I aint blaming them. It's the people putting the SAME 5 trash songs on over and over and those people LEAD the music industry and tell the stations what to put on. THAT'S why music sucks today. Now... I have 50s 60s 70s and yes 80s playlists so I AIN'T biased I just have taste. 80s was the LAST time artists were allowed to be artists after that kommercialism killed it. Oh btw I just started listening to the 1st 40 years of the 1900s so when I say music sucks now you should believe it.

If you think it rocks now, you can only imagine how fresh and epic it sounded back then. If you've never seen the James Bond film A View to a Kill, the opening credits sequence borrows heavily from the neon energy of this video. I would definitely recommend searching for and having a look at it!

One of the best bands of the 80s.such power . R.I.P Mr Palmer. Your vocals were outstanding and and a technician of accenting the beat.

The drums. Holy crap. The bass.
    Palmers vocals.
    The guitar.
    This act is seriously underrated.

Think of it, it is truly a very sophisticated song and wonder how each instrument such as the bass guitar, sinthesizers and drums could stand out so strongly over the voice of Robert Palmer. A true classic which can never be immitated.

This band should have been huge. Both the Taylors are great, the drummer was fantastic and Palmer was a GREAT vocalist

They certainly were way more popular than the other Duran Duran side project, Arcadia. It’s just that it wasn’t intended to last beyond the one album.
