Guys, you know 3 of the 4 members of The Power Station already. The vocalist is Robert Palmer, you know...Simply Irresistible with the models playing the instruments. The guitarist is the original guitarist for Duran Duran, Andy Taylor. Bassist is also from Duran Duran; John Taylor and I don't think you've reacted to Chic yet, but you should. The drummer is Tony Thompson of Chic. While The Power Station were doing their thing, The other 3 members of Duran Duran were recording an album under the name Arcadia. You should check out the long version of Election Day from them. Next Power Station needs to be Bang a Gong.
Dipsydoodle so on point. The only thing ( and I am guilty of it so no disrespect) but the song you want is “Get it on” which is also a great one nice call
Respectfully, if they do Bang a Gong the only version to do is the T-Rex original
I have to agree with Don Gange. As much as I like The Power Station and adore Robert Palmer, the T-Rex original version of Get It On (Bang a Gong) would be my choice.
I say do both
I forgot about Arcadia
Great news recently when guitarist Andy Taylor who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and could not attend Duran Duran's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, was found to have beaten his stage four diagnosis and is even ready to return to the stage and recording.
This is wonderful news! I hadn’t heard it. Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤
Andy Taylor really shines and shows his guitar skills here.
R.I.P to British singer Robert Palmer who died of a heart attack at the age of 54 in 2003. His voice is incredibly strong and must hear the song “Bad Case of Loving You”.
#classic
Love it! 💘
I also love Robert Palmer's cover of "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" and "Sneaking Sally Through the Alley"! Brilliant singer.
And to Tony Thompson, who also passed away in 2003.
Mercy Mercy Me is a personal favorite of mine
Robert Palmer is singing lead. No wonder its so good. Robert was amazing singer. He did Addicted to Love, Simply Irresistible....and a ton of others.....
My personal favorite, Bad Case Of Lovin You.
@@VicMikesvideodiary Great song.
Not to mention the two Taylor's from Duran Duran on bass and guitar
Also "Every Kinda People" ...
@@mikec8328 That's a GREAT song.
The John Taylor bass line in this song is the thing for me, SO good
JT can do no wrong! Such an underrated bassist
Bass is just flat out, dirteeee.
@@DanielOrion74 this song was produced by legendary bass player Bernard Edwards
@@melhall17 Bernard was bad to the bone. JT was great too.
One of the best bass players ever.
The Power Station was named after the Power Station recording studio in New York, where their first album was conceived and recorded.
The bassist is John Taylor from Duran Duran, the guitarist is Andy Taylor from Duran Duran 👍
"Some Like it Hot" peaked #6 in 1985. Power Station was an all-star rock group comprised of singer Robert Palmer, 2 members of Duran Duran (Andy Taylor -guitar & John Taylor - bass) and drummer Tony Thompson, previously in Chic. Power Station charted 3 singles in 1985. This was the first, then "Get It On" (cover of T. Rex's "Bang A Gong" (#9) & "Communication" (#34).
I forgotten gym by power station with lead singer Robert Palmer who you already know is called. Notoriety. Another great song is called Bank of Gong!!
Betcha didn't think Andy Taylor from Duran Duran could play lead guitar like that? And with John Taylor from Duran Duran on bass, you can't go wrong! Robert Palmer on vocals and Tony Thompson on drums made this a perfect combination!
This whole album is awesome!
he probably always wanted to be in a hair metal band, but oh well, bad timing.
Yep, this was one of those short-lived Super Bands, like The Traveling Wilburys.
John Taylor is such an incredibly talented bass guitarist. 👍🏻👍🏻
Wife here..Andy Taylor could flat lay a bass line!!!
Andy's first solo album Thunder was really underrated , I might lie is a particular banger .
Duran Duran members on bass and guitar. My personal favorite Robert Palmer song is, Didn’t Mean to Turn You On.
My favorite, too!!!
Thank Tony Thompson for the drums! He was also apart of Chic in the 70s!....R.I.P. Tony Thompson & their lead singer, Robert Palmer.
4 legends in one supergroup!! Yes!!!!
Robert Palmer singing with Chic drummer and Duran Duran members come together for a GREAT sound. RIP Robert.
And RIP to the drummer Tommy Thompson
Jay and Amber will enjoy The Righteous Brothers, Rock And Roll Heaven. They should know many of the names in the song.
Tony Thompson awesome drummer
This is Robert Palmer , this is his super group with Duran Duran
Neil Peart may have been The Professor, but Tony Thompson was THE BEAST. He could pound the drums like no on else.
Gotta do their cover of T Rex's Get It On Bang A Gong. It is the true definition of banger.
Brotha Thompson was every bit the Professor’s equal; how do I know, you ask? Because when they immortal John Bottoms died, Led Zeppelin was going to return to the road with Tony Thompson in his place. That’s how good he was. 🤢Unfortunately Tony died as well. So we were robbed from many different angles.
Yeah their cover of Bang A Gong has some of the most powerful drumming on any record. It's great.
Tony Thompson's inspiration was Jon Bonham from Led Zepplelin.
Basically Power Station is a super band from the 80s, Duran Duran members on bass and guitar, Palmer on vocals and Tony Thompson from Chic on drums. They were awesome
Guitarist is Andy Taylor (Duran Duran), Bassist is John Taylor (Duran Duran), Drummer is Tony Thompson (Chic) and singer is Robert Palmer
Their remake of "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" is absolute GOLD. I also love "Murderess," which is a real banger
This brought up a fun memory. My Dad in his early days was a big band drummer. I think my Mom loved that until they got married and he would be off playing drums every Saturday. He kept current with the different music genres as time went by and eventually he gave up performing and his drum set got smaller and smaller. I had so much fun playing air guitar with him or singing and dancing and one day he had been away helping someone with a construction project and came home with a secret smile on his face. He had been volunteering his time, but the person rewarded him with an electric drum set. It was really compact and could be packed away when not in use. With the drums in this song I remember my Dad getting used to these new drums and all the sounds they could make and when my Mom would go off with her girlfriends, it would be drum night at home, trying out the different current music. Soooo fun. One of my best memories of my Dad.
I love that story ❤️
Awesome story!!
Tony Thompson used tree trunks to play drums....ya gotta do Bang a Gong cover of T Rex song
I remember roller skating to this back in 1985. You kids have absolutely no idea how magical the 80s were!
You can never go wrong with Robert Palmer!
The Power Statin and The Firm where two of the best compilation bands in the 80's! Check out "Radio Active" by The Firm!
I bet they would really like Satisfaction Guaranteed also.
And " All The Kings Horses".
The Firm was seriously underrated. We were so spoiled in the 80s.
Oh yes!! The Firm! That was a great collaboration band…”satisfaction guaranteed” 👍🏻
Didn’t The Firm do “ Star Trekkin” ?
YES!!!!!!!!!!! One of the many collaboration bands that were around in the 80's. Robert Palmer, John Taylor and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran, and Tony Thompson of Chic made up this group. They also do a cover of TRex's "Get It On (Bang a Gong)" that is a total banger.
You should listen to Sailing shoes/Hey hey Julia/Sneaking Sally through the alley by Robert Palmer 3 songs combined in one
Duran Duran's John and Andy Taylor formed Power Station and Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor formed Arcadia which had a totally different vibe. You should check them out just for the difference in styles alone.
Actually, it was John Taylor and Tony Thompson who formed The Power Station, Andy came into the project later and then Robert Palmer. Roger Taylor was also involved with The Power Station.
@@eamonconnelly8029 Correct! I just watched John's Bass Tutorial here on UA-cam and he said the same thing. I loved this CD and even brought it twice! lol
Arcadia was basically another Duran Duran album ;)
This is my all-time greatest 80's song. Period.
Nice to see the youth appreciating old school music.
I LOVED this song when it was released! It totally represents the summer of 1985 for me.
Oh the 80’s, the malls, the experimental culture and music, gender fluidity, amazing dance clubs and big everything, hair clothes sounds
The band took its name from The Power Station recording studio in New York where they recorded all their records.
The horn sound was created by playing horn samples through a box called a Kepex (keyable programmable expander) which gives the sound the attack of another instrument. The same effect was used on David Bowie's song Let's Dance.
That's a horn section. No samples. Ask Lenny Pickett.
@@rodhubbard6320 Perhaps, but it's still been Kepexed to death
@@gotham61 Wikipedia is your friend.
BTW, the German translation for Power Station is Kraftwerk.
Power Station was a short-lived but awesome band! Check out, “Bang a Gong” and “Communication”!
That man was Andy Taylor, the original Duran Duran guitarist, up until Notorious.
Technically, Duran Duran's original guitarist was John Taylor.
The 'big' drum sound you are hearing is 'gated reverb', a process that gave the drums that big booming sound, a classic trait of the 80's. It is not used much anymore.
You can really hear it in the drum intro on this song in particular at the end of a phrase when the big boom suddenly absolutely dies. Wonderful engineering and production on this album!
Andy Taylor on guitar (Duran Duran). He has a song as a solo artist from the American Anthem soundtrack, called Take it easy. Great guitar work in that one too.
You've seen Robert Palmer before, haven't you? From "Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistible" ... with the models behind him playing the instruments. If you haven't, then you need to cover those. He's the singer for Power Station.
The great Robert Palmer on lead vocals and members of Duran Duran made up the band
Guitarist is Andy Taylor from Duran Duran, Bass is John Taylor from Duran Duran, drums was Tony Thompson, and vocals is Robert Palmer right before he had the solo hits Addicted to Live and Simply Irresistible.
Robert Palmer had his hit Addicted to Love in 1985 before his time with Power Station. Simply Irresistible was in 1988. Robert Palmer also had other hits in his solo career before his time with Power Station.
@@calkelpdiver No. The Power Station revived Robert Palmer's career to allow him to record his next two solo albums. If Palmer did not have the success from The Power Station, all we would remember him by his from his 1979 single, "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)."
The Power Station album was recorded in 1984 and released in March 1985. Some Like It Hot was the first single released in March, then it was Bang A Gong (Get It On) in April and then Communication in October 1985. The band toured without Robert Palmer during the summer of 1985. Michael DeBarres filled in as singer on the tour. He also came in to do vocals for the track "Someday, Somehow, Someone's Gotta Pay" for the Arnold Schwarzenegger Motion Picture, Commando, released in October 1985.
Robert Palmer recorded Riptide in the summer and fall of 1985 and several musicians from The Power Station album also performed on this album including Bernard Edwards on bass, who produced both The Power Station and Riptide albums.
After The Power Station tour concluded- Tony Thompson, their drummer and Andy Taylor, their guitarist also performed on Riptide. Tony Thompson played drums on all but one track (track #5) and Andy Taylor and Thompson played on Palmer's single, Addicted To Love.
The album Riptide was released in November 1985 and Addicted To Love, Riptide's 3rd single, was released in January 1986.
I remember a documentary about The Power Station, John Taylor being taught how to play funky bass from Bernard Edwards from Chic, Niles Rogers and Bernard produced this super group
My absolute hero is Robert Palmer who is the vocalist. He had some amazing albums and singles dating back from the 1970's. What a talent, sadly missed.
Andy Taylor, George Lynch, Warren D'Martini, were 3 of Best Guitarists of the 80's.
The drummer (Tony Thompson) makes those drums HURT! 😊❤️
This album was the bomb in 85’- awesome collaboration- next up please do Neneh Cherry Buffalo Stance on a female Friday - love you guys
Its been a loooong wait for Neneh Cherry
Love Neneh, it's a great song.
I prefer ManChild by Neneh!
I'm a big power station fan and never realized the fabulous Robert Palmer was dressed as a preacher in the video
Bang A Gong! That is the Power Station Song!!!!
They also do a cover of bang a gong. A true 80s super group. 2 members of Duran Duran a member of chic and Robert palmer, simply irresistible himself
Roger Taylor from DD was also involved.
All I can say is Bang A Gong!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of FAVORITE songs of the 80’s. Thanks!
I used up two cassette tapes from this great power group when the first debuted. Rock, funk and disco never sounded better!!!! Love you two❤ Long life, good health and prosperity...
Love. This group was formed when Duran Duran split. Andy Taylor (guitar) and John Taylor (bass) both from Duran Duran and Robert Palmer (vocals) Tony Thompson on drums. Get it On (Bang a Gong) is another good song. Check out the Band Arcadia that has Simon Le Bon (vocals) and Nick Rhodes (keyboard) from Duran Duran that was formed at the same time. Election Day is a good one from that band.
They didn't "split", I don't think. they just took a break. "Goodbye Is Forever" is another great Arcadia song.
@@Shrykespeare they did split after Live Aid. They weren’t getting along. Mainly it was Andy Taylor. I remember I was totally sad when it happened.
@@Shrykespeare yes Goodbye is Forever is a great song!
@@mozzetti1 They didn't split but did the side projects because there was a lot of infighting.
Arcadia Election Day is probably one of my favorite 80's songs.
Their cover of Marc Bolan's "Bang A Gong" is incredible. It will send a chill down your spine... in a good way.
Their first album is one of my favorites from the 1980’s. Along with Steve Winwood Back in the High Life, Peter Gabriel So, and Genesis Genesis
There are two leads on this cut. Vocals: Robert Palmer. And those DRUMS!🤯
Power Station was a Pop supergroup, consisting of Robert Palmer, whom you have reacted to, two members of Duran Duran on guitars and a member of Chic on the drums. Great song!
The Power Station was primarily John Taylor's and Andy Taylor's idea from Duran Duran. Duran Duran's drummer Roger Taylor was also involved in smaller role with The Power Station.
Tony Thompson is killing it on drums. You really should check out the group Chic. Bernard Edwards on bass, Nile Rodgers on guitar and Tony Thompson on drums: one of the best rhythm sections ever. "Good Times", "Le Freak", "I Want Your Love", "Dance Dance Dance", I could go on. So many great songs to choose from. Nile and Bernard went on to produce legendary records for other artists as well: Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Madonna. The list is endless.
The gated reverb on the drums really makes the intro pop! It's hard to keep your butt in the chair this intro starts!! The best part is the sound actually talks about how hot it makes you feel.
Speaking Of The Lead Vocalist,,
His Tribute In Honor & Memory Of Marvin Gaye,, Robert Palmer "Mercy Mercy Me/I Want You"..A MUST HEAR..R.I.P. Marvin & Robert 🙏 ❤
Great Suggestion 💕
@@juliewhite7469 Thanks.😁
I’m in on that suggestion 😊
@@jeanstrickland2445 Thanks😁
The Power Station was a side project for the two Duran Duran guitarists, John and Andy Taylor, who were increasingly feeling boxed in by DD's conventional pop sound in the mid-80s. John brought in Tony Thompson from Chic as the drummer and Robert Palmer on vocals. They came together for just one album, unfortunately. That guitar solo is Duran Duran's Andy Taylor, cut loose from the tight leash of 1980s synth-pop :)
I think I remember reading that Palmer didn't want to do it until he was assured it would be a limited project. Just one album, some videos. No tour, no further plans. He didn't want to join a band...
@@55itsme Yes, interestingly, he went back into the studio with the Power Station team - Bernard Edwards, Tony Thompson and Jason Corsaro- and put together the solo album that made him a superstar!
John Taylor did not feel "boxed in" from Duran Duran's sound. He wanted to do something different and with other musicians. Andy Taylor may have felt more restricted in the band because he was not able to do in Duran Duran what he was able to do in the Power Station.
The original idea was introduced to Tony Thompson by John Taylor. It was to do a one-tune project of Bang A Gong. About 6 months later, John got Andy involved and then a year later, when getting ready to record- John got Robert Palmer involved. Tony Thompson was not keen on Palmer- he did not feel he was right for the project- especially since the concept was to get a variety of singers to sing on different tracks. Eventually, Thompson became convinced about Palmer. Instead of a one-tune project, it became a one-album project. Thompson got Bernard Edwards to produce.
In addition, Duran Duran's drummer Roger Taylor was involved in a smaller role with the Power Station.
@@55itsme The original idea of The Power Station was to have Palmer and other vocalist sing on just one track each but of course that changed. Palmer liked what Andy and John were doing. He just didn't want to tour.
My favorite is "Communication". The combination of drums and bass were incredible.
Wife here..J and Amber..., the drums and the instrumentation in this song are pure fire..Taking me right back to eighties dance routines...Fullness of drums...quick and sharp...Well said you guys...As Always
The guitarist Andy Taylor has some great tune on his own. "Take it Easy" is from a movie and has Wayne Gretzky's wife in the footage used in the video. Andy's album "Thunder" is cover to cover. "I Might Lie" would be a great song to check.
I always loved that song and album .
Love this!!!
This was a supergroup of members, with Duran Duran and Robert Palmer on vocals, and Tony Thompson is the drummer for Chic, he's bringin it! Syncopated beat, funk, jazz, rock--that's the 80s for ya!
Part of the reason that Power Station existed in the first place was that the former guitarist and bassist of Duran Duran wanted to prove their cred as legit rock musicians. None of the members of Duran Duran were untalented, but since the type of music they did was about image just as much as it was about sound, they were eager to do something with a little more substance. The other members had their own side project, Arcadia, which was a lot more similar to the Duran Duran stuff. "Election Day" would be the main Arcadia song to check out.
No. They did not want to "prove themselves as legit musicians.? No one in the band has ever said that. Ridiculous. They wanted to work with other musicians and create a different sound. The Power Station in contrast to Duran Duran does not have "a little more substance." It's just a different substance with heavier guitar work and solos.
The original idea of The Power Station was to mix Chic and the Sex Pistol sound. This was John's sonic concept for Duran Duran which never developed. In 1983, John Taylor (with the rest of Duran Duran) went to David Bowie's Serious Moonlight Tour show in London, after the show, Tony Thompson and John Taylor went to a nightclub. John discussed doing a one-tune project, a cover of Bang A Gong with Thompson. Thompson was all for it.
They met again in Australia in November of 1983, when Thompson was finishing David Bowie's tour. Duran Duran had just finished recording Seven And The Ragged Tiger in Australia and were about to embark on their Sing Blue Silver Tour in Australia. The two met and John got Andy Taylor involved and Thompson got Bernard Edwards to produce. The Power Station project would commence a year later.
It wasn't about proving their playing capabilities. It was to get together to make one song and then it turned into eight songs. It was just about making music.
great band! so much talent
Wow it's been forever and a day since I've heard this. Great pic! Best of the 80's - Robert Palmer and Duran Duran. Doesn't get much better than this.
This was an 80's supergroup. Tony Thompson r.i.p. was a phenomenal drummer. John and Andy Taylor from Duran Duran are great musicians, especially John on Bass and Robert palmer famous in his own right. They recorded this in The Powerstation studio. That's where the name came from.
Tony Thompson's drumming on this song is off the chain. Great groove, big gated reverb sound. Everything about this track is great really.
The Power Station was basically half of Duran Duran, when they weren't touring.
I always loved the staccato rhythm of this song, and how everything had power behind it (just like "Get it on (Bang a gong". Genius arrangement.
As mentioned already Tony Thompson is the drummer and he is a beast. He has played with lots of performers including Chic, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross (check out the intro to I'm Coming Up) The Distance and others.
It’s Andy Taylor from Duran Duran . Also, the bass player is John Taylor from Duran Duran . Tony Thompson on drums from chic and Robert Palmer on vocals
Robert Palmer is the lead singer and two members of Duran Duran, John Taylor on bass and Andy Taylor on guitar and on the drums Tony Thompson 😀
Roger Taylor from Duran Duran was also a part of The Power Station in a smaller role.
Robert Palmer (RIP) had one of the best voices in rock. Check out his solo songs: Every Kinda People, Bad Case of Lovin' You, Looking For Clues, You Are In My System, Addicted to Love, Simply Irresistible, and his incredible cover of Marvin Gaye's Mercy, Mercy Me. So incredible, and such a loss.
Also Sneaking Sally Down The Alley
Also Sneaking Sally Down The Alley
People always quote Phil Collins as the main exploiter of the “Gated drums” sound, but Tony Thompson was just as instrumental in getting that sound everywhere.
My far one of the most impressive bands I've ever seen. From the late Tony Thompson's nuclear powered drums, John Taylor's thomping bass lines, the soulful power singing of the late Robert Palmer, and the ridiculous guitar solos of Andy Taylor. Andy comes in hot on this one. To me though, the drums stand out the most. Mainly because I don't think I'd ever seen an act let the drummer loose like that before.
Jay, there's a kick-butt, legendary guitarist you should feast your eyes on. His name is Rory Gallagher and he was from Ireland RIP. He was rumored as being the greatest guitarist in the world at one point. I recommend his live material. "Shin Kicker" from 1979 "Best live performance" as headed on youtube and "Shadowplay" from Rockpalast 1979 rips. Please look into them. You will not be steered wrong!
Ok, I was in high chill when this came out and went to see a taping of SNL where they performed this song. I had one single red rose that I bought spica for John Taylor. When they finished the song, they walked right past me and he didn’t take my rose or even look at me and I was crushed! My poor 15 year old heart!🥰😳
I'm so sorry. I would have been crushed too. John was my favourite. He could have been nice and taken your rose. I'm disappointed in him. ☹
@@bonniespruin6369 thanks! Yes, I was all dressed up in my rhinestone bracelets and moussed hair and everything! Lol. Yeah, he walked right past me, we were sitting close to the aisle that the band walked through. Oh well!

The Drummer is Tony Thompson... He was a FANTASTIC Drummer who also played in the band Chic. Unfortunately he passed away from Cancer in 2003... 😢
Tony Thompson on drums from the band Chic. John and Andy Taylor from Duran Duran and the quintessential Robert Palmer on vocals
You definitely need to do "Get It On" by Power Station. That song is a total banger. Also, "Bad Case of Loving You" by Robert Palmer is one of his best songs.
Tony Thompson drum legend. Played with Led Zep at LIVE Aid
One of my favorite drummers I believe his name is Tony Thompson and he also used to play drums for Chic.
Tony Thompson's drumming is the secret sauce! RIP Tony. Andy Taylor also gets to shines, getting to step away from the Duran Duran sound and show his chops on the freeboard. "Get it On (Bang a Gong)" is a natural next choice. "Harvest for the World" would be good too. That or "Murderess".
The bass player is John Taylor and the guitarist is Andy Taylor from Duran Duran. It was a fun side project they did. Check out Get it on (Bang a Gong)
Whole album is dope
I got to see them live, but by then, Robert Palmer left and was replaced by Michael Des Barres. They were still awesome.
This song makes me cry. Every single time I hear it! Epic Robert Palmer ! RIP
I miss the late Tony Thompson (the drummer for The Power Station and Chic). In my opinion, he was the best drummer of the "Modern Rock Era".(1975 to 2000).
Tony Thompson was a beast on this album as he was with some Madonna sessions, playing with Chic and Sister Sledge.
I saw him once in concert and he was tremendous.
Probably in my top 10 drummers I've seen live.
And although I saw Tony, Neil Peart 5 times, Bill Bruford 4 times, Carl Palmer twice, John Bonham and Keith Moon once, the best drummer I've seen live is the late, great, "Buddy Rich."
Yes! Yes! Thank you. I’ve been racking my brain for years trying to remember the artists Tony Thompson played with. I knew there was one more…Madonna.
From the same era, another supergroup, The Firm with Jimmy Page, their song Radioactive is worth a reaction. Love me some Robert Palmer. Andy Taylor, formerly of Duran Duran, on guitar. They also covered T.Rex's Bang a Gong.
those powerful drums are courtesy of the legendary Tony Thompson who was with a band who you should know, Chic. he was an absolute beast on the drums
John Taylor’s bass playing in “Bang a Gong “ and “Go To Zero”… IS ERRRR DAMN THANG!
Great album
RIP Robert Palmer
Please react to "Silent Lucidity" from Queensryche
So you’ve reacted to three of these band members before without realizing it. Guitar and bass are from Duran Duran, and the singer is the guy who always wears a suit with the models playing instruments in the background! I think you guys did Simply Irresistible by him. Definitely check out more Power Station, their other hit was a remake of Bang a Gong.
And as others have said, to see the other half of Duran Duran and what they came up with, check out Arcadia. They have a few songs that were released as singles, so any of those would be good!
Roger Taylor from Duran Duran was also involved in a small role with The Power Station and in a larger role with Arcadia.
@@eamonconnelly8029 I’ve tried to figure out which tracks Roger played on with Arcadia and I can’t find anything that breaks it down by song. I really miss my cassette/album collection these days for the liner notes alone!
@@mangerinegirl with Arcadia. he played drums on the entire album as of he would with Duran Duran. With the Power Station, he played "percussive effects" but it does not state on which tracks.
For me it’s ALL ABOUT THE BASS! John Taylor brought the bass Guitar ALIVE for me when I was a young “Duranie”. And I’ve loved it ever since. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Power Station : Another great song from the 80's, plus you can't go wrong with Robert Palmer as lead vocals...Great song!!!
The Duran Duran splinter group! Great song. You should do their OTHER splinter group, Arcadia, and their single Election Day. It was a big controversy at the time, with a friendly rivalry. You really see the sonic friction that made Duran so special.
I preferred Power Station over Arcadia.I was such a Duran fan in high school. I can't believe their Rio is marking its 40th anniversary this year! I was mere lass of 14!😄 Aah, memories!
@@christineobrien7707 I wore the white shirt and black blazer, dyed my hair black, I was head over heels for Arcadia.
@@italoblu You were one cool 😎 dude! My sister was in love with Simon Leon! I was in love with John Taylor!😄 It was kind of the equivalent of a Yankees/Red Sox rival in the house!
A true Supergroup! The Power Station was made up of vocalist Robert Palmer, former Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and Duran Duran members John Taylor and Andy Taylor. They had two major hits in the mid 80s - this, and their cover of T.Rex's "Bang a Gong (Get It On)". Beyond that, they only had two singles, "Communication" and "She Can Rock It". Two albums, and then, like most supergroups, they went their separate ways. But this song... wow. Still cooks after three and a half decades!
She Can Rock It comes from the group's reunion in 1996 without John Taylor.
What a magical era.
I’d had this song caught in my head after watching the Duran Duran documentary on Netflix. I’d kinda forgotten Power Station. And now the song will be caught for a month.
Robert Palmer....gone way to soon.
