Answers to questions you might have:
- i filmed this video with Sony Rx100v
- I usually use autofocus, not manual focus, on the gimbal
- I leave IBIS on when I'm using a gimbal
- I don’t have Zhiyun Crane 2 yet but there’s no reason not to upgrade, so I include v2 in the kit link
- I have not used the Crane M and I don't know anything about it
- I have not used Ronin, Feyu, etc
- I use EOSHD picture profile on a6500. You have to buy it from www.eoshd.com

What I appreciate is you thoroughly use the gear you have and you produce incredible content from them. Many people seem to have all the different cameras but don't actually do much with them, just review them.
Instead of buying the Sony A6500 I used my money to build a time machine. Now I own the Sony A7S CXXIV. Couldn't be happier!
But who needs 50k resolution when most people can't even stream 40k
Juan Quispe what camera is this ? i couldn't find it in the internet
Yet ;)
it has a downscale mode.
LOL...
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam. The pacing of your videos is awesome and you seem to fit so much good information into such short videos.
I just purchased my a6500 a few weeks ago and my lenses & crane are on its way! I'm really thankful for the videos you're making - it really validates my investment in this equipment! Keep these videos coming! I'm learning so much!
Such a great informative video! You helped me decide on an A6500. THANK YOU!
Man, I'm happy to see the first three lenses you present are exactly the ones I have bought and use. And I love them, love the 35 mm the most, pictures are awesome. And the 18-105 mm is better than I thought it'd be, love the fact that it doesn't change length when zooming, it's perfect on a gimbal.
I followed this guide when buying my first filmmaking kit and I fully recommend it. It’s everything you would need in most situations
I can't tell you how much you help me improve! Thank you so much 😊
Subbed because you get straight to the point. You don't ramble on about your life for 5 minutes before getting into the content. Very nice.
The channel that has no BS, all good information. No unnecessary brolls. Gotta love Brandon!
One of my fav. channel on UA-cam, just pure and clean review and no bullshit !
I love your video. I own pretty much the same setup.
Also I like that you're not all over the place and energetic like Mr. McKinnon. Very trustworthy.
Keep it up
Thank you so much for posting your kit. I've had a Nex5-n, a6000 and just ordered a a6500. Your kit is what I'd like to have. I've been thinking about the 35mm for awhile now and your description of it has made me want to purchase it. Thanks again!
Got the a6500 , crane, and 35mm so far ! Really glad you went into the filters a bit
You are amazing! You say exactly what comes with experience and most of people find out after spending a lot of money in things we don't even use. Thank you!!
Nice work Brandon! Your doing a great job explaining this all. I've been shooting since 2002 professionally and can say you have done more in explaining things to the new shooter than most others I've seen. Wishing you continued success with the future segments. Oh and yes I own most of what you suggest 😊
So lucky that I got this video by youtube recommendation. Kudos to you Sir. Fantastic guide.
Probably the best I've seen so far, regarding Sony mirrorless and a variety of videographer's gear.
Thank you. Keep up the quality work.
You are such an inspiration for me. I really love your tutorials and work! Much love from the Philippines!
Probably the best video I've seen so far about the Sony a6300, thanks
This is excellent. I really like your straight to the point no bs style.
Im your Great admirer! Watched almost most films you uploaded on youtube and Vimeo. Great motivation to me.
Thanks man this was unbelievably helpful and my plan is to buy basically this entire kit before my trip to Nepal next year. Thanks for the tips, every video I've seen from you has given me a ton of new and useful knowledge and the way you present the information is perfect for me👍🏽👍🏽
Great video as usual Brandon!
Brandon, thanks a lot for making this video available to anyone who is interested. It was extremely helpful in many ways to a rookie filmmaker like me.
Love your videos man!... Thanks for sharing all your experience and knowledge.
Thank you!
I got the a6300 and the zhiyun crane, and it works very well!
I love this style of video, not overly edited you just sat down and dumped a load of professional wisdom on us and included all the example shots of of what you were talking about, I'm so tired of the distracting video editing style of new youtubers. Anyway thanks for taking the time and effort to teach us stuff!
Just bought the 6300 and this video helps me alot, thanks!
Great vid! Follow Roll on ZC can be achieved by attaching the camera 90 degrees. Then use the tilt to make the roll happen as all axis are shifted.
Super useful, thanks Brandon
Amazing content and a superb way of presenting Brandon make your channel easily the most compelling for the subject of filmmaking, thank you.
3 minutes watching this video was enough to make me subscribe. Great video, very informative.
Absolutely incredible… Enjoy your videos you’re very informative very helpful and will continue watching them as long as you’re on UA-cam… Thank you much
Love my Sony A6500 & Zhiyun Crane!!! I have the Sony 28, 35 & 50 primes & will be buying the 18-105 & 10-18mm. Amazing as always thanks Brandon.
This is awesome man! Really helpful tips. Love your channel. Keep killin' it!
Hey man just wanna say Thank you for taking the time to make this
I just loved your explanation!
An exceptional filmmaker and a great teacher? You're awesome man. Thank you! This was super helpful.
Hey man! I love your channel! I am a total noob when it comes to videography and I really appreciate the helpful explanations as well as recommendations for beginners.
I had not considered the sony a6300 over the a6500 but now I totally am for price reasons. "APPREESH."
Very helpful! thank you so much.. I have the same camera with 10-18 and 18-105.. I love this setup and use it in all my videos! Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for that video...I was just think about what lenses to get next and what I could need/try out for my camra...thanks a lot for all of the tips 🔥🙌

Great advice...Great video...You come off as very humble and genuine in wanting to help aspiring filmmakers. Thanks! Just subscribed!!! I look forward to following more of your work!
You really hit me with that video! I use a A6500 (with zoom kit lens and a 16mm prime from Sigma) and am very thankfull for some really interesting suggestions regarding my gear ;)
Just picked up the a6300 and loving it.
Really appreciate this video! A lot of the gear I have is because of your recommendations.
thanks Brandon - great infos as usual
Excellent source of information! Thank you !
I will always use your affiliate links to buy my gears to support this channel. Please keep up the good work and share the knowledge.
Excellent review - thanks
Hey Brandon! Love all your vids, from your films to your vlog/review content. Thanks for this one, it was pretty helpful! Just to add, I've actually been able to balance and use an A7SII with the 24-240 and the Rokinon/Samyang 35mm f/1.4 on the Zhiyun Crane V2, but I do have to be extra careful to prevent significant camera shake. But definitely using the 18-105 I think would be a better option for gimbal work so I might actually use that instead, in crop mode, so I'm not stuck on one focal length.
The flow of presentation is amazing. Lots of information to absorb in such a short duration. Thanks.
Great video bro! So informative, keep on producing more awesome videos!
Excellent video!
Great video! Really Informative and helpful :)
I appreciate how informative you are :)) Thanks for all the info, man
Great tips all in one video...thank you!
Hope you liked being here in Vancouver! Great video, as always, btw.

Thank you soo much brandon 😊
this video actually helped me put my kit together and shoot my first "cinematic film" thanks Brandon
Thanks Brandon this was incredibly helpful! Great channel. Subbed.
Thanks, useful and well presented...
i loved this video, thanks for this!
Thanks brandon. Very helpful
Thanks for all your inspiration.
Oh my good god! I have you're exact kit that you listed in you're description... Literally everything identical!! Minus the 18-105mm E is the only thing I don't have but hey! You're right man the Zhiyun Crane with the 6500/6300 with that 10-18 F4 or the 35 F1.8 is just a killer set up!! I even mount the rode mic on top when using the gimbal once in a while cause you know.. what the hell lol
Great video! Thank you. My research and instinct have brought me to the same conclusions your experience has brought you. It is great to hear the confirmation before spending (for me) that much money!
All great advice 🙌🏼 agree with with it all.
Very useful as always, thank you Brandon :)
Gladly subscribed. Keep up the great work, sir.
This video is what directed my gear purchases when i first started filmmaking. Thanks, pal
Finally! Thank you so much, this really helpful. ;)
Helpful, Thanks Brandon!
Thanks Brandon great information - I'm thinking of getting the A6500 with a speedbooster to use my faster Nikon lenses and use the SmallHD Focus to help with manual focusing.
Great video. Came across as honest, to the point and knowledgeable. Thanks.
Thanks for the video, very helpful. Subscribed!
Thank you so much for this video.
this was one of the best informative video
Really strong review Brandon. Love to see how quickly your audience is growing here!!! Quick question, have you tried out the Sony 50mm F1.8 OSS on your a6500?
Very useful, thanks!
Very good lesson!
thanks for all the great tips! your videos are very helpful :)
So comprehensive and informative. Thanks a lot. Also, thinking of getting the Small HD Focus as an on camera monitor for bright daylight shooting when the A6500s lcd really doesn't perform so well. Plus if you shoot in log profiles you can overlay LUTs to get a better idea of what your final image will be. And it has audio monitoring and input and output audio jacks (plus loads of other features)
Happy holidays and a great New Year Brandon, thanks for putting up vids and continue to inspire I hope to bump into you one day if you ever in New Zealand or in Samoa ( a Pacific Island lol)
good one. concise and practical for single camera travelers.
This is very useful thank you so much
Wow, such a nice video. Keep it up
This was very useful, thank you!
Good job! Thanks for the video!
Very new to your channel, immediately drawn in by the content. Cheers
The EOSHD colour profiles are amazing!
Hi Brandon, thanks for putting this together! Great info on a very popular camera.
RE: audio recording, I've had great success with the new Tascam DR-10L, which is basically a headless Zoom H1 or Sony 712. My favorite feature is the safety track, meaning it will record at a normal volume, and simultaneously at -6DB in case the subject gets unexpectedly loud. It's small, unobtrusive, and the included lav mic isn't bad at all.
Anyway, just my $0.02. Thanks again!
Thank you very much, you gave me a lot of answers!
You produce some excellent content and so easy to understand. MOST content producers doing this sort of content want to SCREAM and their videos look like car chases on steroids.
Keep up the good work, you are miles ahead of the others!!!
Went from Canon to this camera. Never looked back! Love it!
Cool clip! Very informative!
