      I’d be cautious coming here. I’m new to the company and my experience so far has not been good. Equipment issues and low miles. I’m sitting 18-24 hours a lot, getting just 300 miles. Half my orientation class had truck issues when they got them. My truck took two days in the shop getting basic stuff done, service that should’ve been done before I got the truck. Hoping things get better in the next few weeks but if they don’t, I’m going to look elsewhere. Not saying this will be your experience, hopefully not! There’s plenty of drivers here that have been here for years, even decades, so the company is doing something right for them

      Hi again…we’re really sorry to hear you’re not getting enough miles. I actually put two comments with some tips under your comment on the Crete UA-cam video this week. But they disappeared. 🤔 So I’m glad you commented here, giving me a chance to answer you again. You said you are still new at Crete, so we hope you don’t give up yet. It’s a good stable company. And we do think they really care about their employees. Things are not rolling as well as during the pandemic, but there is still lots of freight. What we find that happens is that the first load assignment tends to be one that is geographically closest. If it wastes a lot of Kevin‘s hours, he will call his asset manager. They will work together to see if there might be a better load available, or if maybe the pick up or drop off window can be changed. Right now, you are probably still working with your on boarding asset manager. Once you get your assigned asset manager, hopefully the two of you will be able to work really well together and he or she will understand how you like to run.
      You could also consider helping out at a Walmart dedicated account for a bit, they get consistent miles, but usually less than you can get if you’re doing good miles with OTR.
      We really hope things turn around for you, and that you get the miles and a wonderful career at Crete.

    • @redkrawler
      @redkrawler 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah you need a UA-cam channel to get miles here these days. You will not get miles at a Walmart Dc. Just more work to help unload and lots of sitting and short miles. 😊

      @@TheJoyofTrucking I saw those comments but when I got back to reply they were gone. UA-cam doing UA-cam things lol. Thanks for the comments. Im out of the Deland terminal. I did my orientation in Lenoir City and was issued my truck in Marietta. I had a lot of issues with my truck: it wouldn’t start and had to be jumped right off the bat. The driver’s mirror was hanging by one bolt. It was missing privacy curtains and emergency triangles. And it was half-detailed, with a ton of pet hair on the floor and all over the bed area. On top of all that, it was past due for service. 30 minutes from home the adjuster on my seat broke, and I still need to get it fixed. Yes, im still with my onboarding AM, so hopefully when Im assigned a permanent, my loads will be much better. I was averaging less than 350 miles and waiting 18-24 hours between loads, even though I kept my PTAs updated

    • @TheJoyofTrucking
      @TheJoyofTrucking  2 місяці тому

      Hey there…we’re not sure what they would start you at with that kind of experience or what account you’d go on. Kevin is presently making 64cpm. Plus the 4cpm if he gets the productivity and safety bonus. As you see he was getting an average of about 2,500 miles per week (including his home time). So…that would be $1,600 for driving. Plus the bonus…another $100. Plus profit sharing and paid vacation after one year. Plus referral bonuses. Check the other videos in the money playlist. We would say freight seems a bit slower the last couple weeks, but hopefully that’s just a blip. Crete is a stable, no-debt-family-owned, no broker company. Kevin communicates regularly with his asset manager to keep his load assignments as productive as possible, minimizing wasted HOS. But they can still happen. Some driving weeks he’ll have over 3,000 miles and some weeks just below 2,500. Hope that helps!

      Wow! Averaging 700 miles per day!?!? Sorry to say, no, you won’t get that at Crete. They say you can count on about 500 average per day. Kevin has some days that get close to 700 but others where he won’t make 500. Depends on the day, length of loads and how long it takes at shippers and receivers.
      Of course it’s not all about the miles. Have to look at cpm and all extra pay, etc. But if you have good numbers AND 700 miles per day then you’re probably doing pretty good already. You can check out Kevin’s income video to see details.

      I don't think you are correct, my friend. I did shaffer before dry van, and for shaffer is less than dry van. Because on the shaffer you sit a lot longer on your pick ups and deliveries.

    2500 miles a week i think i would just stay home instead of sitting in a truck stop for that week.Guess there just alot suckers out there.guess im just negative nacey about sitting around.4 days of work but out 7 days makes no sense to me.More power to you wasting life away on the road!!!

      2500 is barely enough to make it worth staying on. I’ve been sitting a lot and I’m new to the company. If it doesn’t pick up, I’m going elsewhere. It’s tough in my area for local jobs, makes OTR just about my only option unless I move. Might have to anyway!

      Well….Kevin…not sure if Negative Nancy would apply. Maybe Critical Kevin? 😆😁
      To address this comment…let’s remember that over the three months Kevin also takes home time. That’s why this is good to look at as an average. He has weeks he runs way over 3,000 and weeks where it’s low 2,000’s. Some days pressured for time to get to the next load and times he has to sit around and wait. That’s all part of trucking OTR. For these times with freight as it is and o/o and trucking companies going out of business left and right…we are VERY happy here! Miles, good pay, bonuses, profit sharing, paid vacation, and respect. Getting paid to see the country and making good money for a career that required one month training!

    Some people will bitch no matter what they do….but do they actually show the rest of the viewing populace how and what makes them so big and successful? Hell no.
