Rather than calling it a Vampire Survivors game, I'd say that it's more like a Risk of Rain style game with crafting. You've got upgrade points, bosses, but with the benefit of crafting too.
Don't Starve comes to mind
STEAM has Risk of Rain as a "similar games you play"
This looks very promising. The art is beautiful, the animation is fluid, the gameplay looks smooth and fast. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Splat you're the Indie Bestman!
It really is. Can't wait to see what they do in the following months.
@@GameTimeWhy check their roadmap it's impressive
I think this game is fantastic also I think it's sometimes very relevant to mention the price with some of these products. This game is only around 5 bucks, if you like this kinda game it's a must buy.
Great game, played it for about 20 hours. For only 5 bucks it's well worth it. I've unlocked most everything but there's more items and another character in the works. They've already changed a fair amount in the 3 months since this video was posted. Looks like it's been much improved. So far there are 3 maps each with a different main objective. Ker Koad your just defeating bosses, the map is mostly static too. Once you've figured out where most of the resources are and how strong the enemies you can beat it pretty quickly on base difficulty. The other two maps are randomly generated and they can make a pretty big difference as to how you start adapting your build might be necessary.
The build planning and resource management goes hand in hand. It might not be the best idea to pick items that ALL require a specific resource, however some resources seem to clump together more than others. Some combos just work better.
Some tips: Try amulet of the harasser. You can equip multiple rings but only one amulet. You can craft cursed and greater souls. The nun's torch works with the melee ammunition.
I don't think I'd compare this to Vampire Survivors. Feels way more like an action RPG and dual stick sshooter/brawler
Immediately makes me think of V Rising
That was also my first thought.
Crossbow is really good fully upgraded especially woth the ammunition the splinters.
Nice looking game,It's go a Diablo feel to it. Have to ware reading glasses these days to watch and play
games , From my old eyes to another Nice video splattercat 👍👍
Thanks for showcasing this crafter survivor! ^^
Edit: I looked at the trailer, and the vampire survivor side of this game is indeed here. I suspect that you need to reach higher difficulty or timer to reach the horde slaying side of the game.
One more to the list for me at least. :)
looks like the love child of VRising and Risk of Rain
Personally, for a weapon upgrade system, maybe instead, or in addition to, stuff like effects or affixes, maybe have branching evolution paths for weapons, like how 'Have a Nice Death' does it? Like you can evolve the sword into a longsword, with same moveset, a spear with a different moveset, or dagger/dual daggers.
Though, it does look like weapon unlocks over time, which I didn't notice.
Really really interesting woah is this the birth of a new "Hades" ?
The art style is amazing!
"Even in death, the children yearn for work." XD
just picked this game up thanks Splatter! Their roadmap on their steam page is promising.
@@Dyanosis i prefer to look and think positively than be a negative Nancy
the first look it gave me i was like "oh this is V rising"
Genre:Yes. There you go splat that's the genre.
Roguelike, arpg, survival game
This game looks awesome! I already love this game to think they'll add even more to it is fantastic. Looking forward to downloading it
😂 Ok, bro.
I tried the demo a while back and it just felt oppressive. Constantly having waves of enemies while I'm trying to gather resources & get my feet under me. Maybe they've tweaked things since then, but it left a bad taste
Aye, looks tedious af to me... very formulaic.
Grim Reaper game!!!... still mining ore and chopping logs.... 😢
It’s “Don’t Starve” 😉😉
Ankow is a British Celtic name for the grim reaper
User name checks out...!
this game looks fun, thanks splat. added to cart :)
This looks really good.
Has V Rising vibes - action RPG/survival crafter
Actually so much fun. I recommend looking up a loop guide if you arent good at optimizing your route.
Thanks for the video.
Looks great!❤
good stuff
looks nice , alredy bough it
Bullet Heaven, Splatty.
It's called a Bullet Heaven.
Very stylish
Th ankou is the french grim reaper (from Brittany to be precise)
Looks like Ravenswatch, actually.
Damn so many releases, i love being spoiled XD
I tried the demo of this game and what put me off are all the cast bars for everything, even crafting is real time and this is a problem because the game starts going infinite spawn eventually to bother you. Lookd like the full version has some improvements all around.
@@Dyanosis Wow, you're an angry one. I was just commenting my own experience with the demo, not the full game. And that was what I felt. Having played many survival games as well as survivors games, I felt the contrast having to nail down gathering timings, and selection for crafting with the action. Don't presume to know my gaming capability, experience and range. So toxic...go touch some grass.
Ideed those qte bars for harvesting really grind my gears in all the wrong ways
I agree with you Pizza. I tried the demo a while back and it was oppressively hard. It felt like playing Don't Starve, but instead of giving you time to prepare - the wave of wolves comes halfway into the first day.
@@cubsfanbigmike31 Yeah, it's like mix of those elements are off but on their own they would have been fine. The game itself has great elements everywhere else.
You can just run through the brambles.
It's a Bullet Heaven and that's what makes the genre appealing, one simple formula twisted in every way devs can imagine, Vampire Surivor gave birth to that new genre there are a lot of games more or less sofisticated based on VS like this or Boneraiser minions, Yet another Zombie Survivor etc.
V Rising vibes.
Don't get the Vampire Survivors comparison myself. Seems more like an Action RPG with crafting. Maybe I'm not putting enough weight on the Shrines.
Potassium Nitrate is Saltpeter? Hnh .
There are some little issues with balance but so far this is super promising. The blunderbuss sucks as a main weapon though. So slow. Really good as a spirit weapon. Grenades also not good as main weapon but so good as spirit.
I see absolutetly no resemblense to vampire survivors
Me neither.
I guess it’s similar in the case that enemies spawn over time and increase in frequency and quantity but I dunno how it’s like VS in literally any other capacity.
@@JLogg444 you can sort of choose the difficulty in a run by going through red barriers. They increase threat in addition to time increasing threat. Vs comparison is just weird.
@@JLogg444 similar upgrade system too
maingoal is to survive and upgrade your armor?
That spherical boss hanging out at the edge of its ring -- that's the kind of bug that makes me decide to buy a different game instead. If that doesn't get fixed, I doubt the devs are serious about making a good game.
It looks a lot easier on pc than steam deck. It plays well on deck but framerate starts dropping hard as the hoards increase.
Not for me, but thanks for showing it off
my OCD to pick up everything in these types of games would be my downfall. put on my watch and see what happens list.
Sound similar to V-rising
I guess if a developer ever runs out of ideas on how to make item progression interesting, all they have to do is watch a few splat videos and make a list 😂
Omg 5$ adding to cart
I think "an-coo" is probably correct
Don’t starve-like
I went over and bought it after seeing this video and I don't know... it's very annoying. It quickly gets overwhelming and there's nothing you can do to stem the tide, especially since you have no time to craft or harvest anything. There's nothing in the way of instructions so maybe I'm going places I'm not supposed to or something.
...interesting... iconography for us Czech, Slovak and Lithuanian folks XD
This is Celtic mythology, from the Bretons, more specifically.
@@onecalledchuck1664 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%AD%C4%8Da
more like V rising roquelite
Isn't this just an action game, or a simplistic action-rpg (diablo)?
Defining features of v-survivors are autofire and constant stream of mobs, there's neither here.
It's just a comment for algorithmus then
Is this using Albions engine?
more like v-rising...
stop pausing game with right click and you might be right regading time xD
Cool game but it seems super slow, it's begging for a 2x speed option.
Believe me it gets really fast. It's the first map and tutorial area. About 10/15 min to a run you're fast, with fast attack and hundreds of ennemies thrown at you
@@pierre-vincentcabourg6230yeah it gets nuts.
Looks like a waterfall progression: Easy going until all you can do is hold on and scream 😉
@@pierre-vincentcabourg6230 oh nice! Thanks for letting me know.
Boots are my #1 armour upgrade. Movement speed is essential.
I really like the world but don't enjoy the pace of it.
Oh yeah another game where you grind for crafting materials forever. yaaaay...
Your mic is kinda intense
@dyanosis lol this was my first video of his and I could tell he applied effort but it's some piercing audio lol, guess I'm not the only one
Thanks 😆
I LOATHE radial menu's, the sickly-stench of console-centric games fills the air. But the art style isn't bad. Spirit children child-labor... child-labor is bad umkay.... in any decent society it's a no-go. Art style reminds me so strongly of some other game, can't remember what though...
Can't disagree with you there, hate Console-centric type of games
Splatt you have been working too hard because you are tripping. This isn't anything like vampire survivors. There have been rogue like crafting and collecting games way before survivors. This is like binding of Isaac or Risk of rain or Even the new crab champions.
good, vamp survivors was so boring and lame
Who knew the Grim Reaper was a lumberjack and gatherer, and that and he likes to craft. I guess even he/she/it has to get in on the fun. This, along with no visible change to the character regarding equipment, is a hard pass.
Spoilers dude
Shouldn't the souls be tying to escape you and fight only when cornered?
