      One man's labor of love. Very impressive man. Really cool game you have here. I look forward to playing it. I've seen titles made by AAA companies that don't stack up to this title. You are being very humble about it being rough around the edges. You're one man. Compare that to some of these games with teams of people and a large bank roll behind them. This game does very well for it being a one man operation. Imagine what you could do with a whole team and creative control?
      The game has heart and soul. More I can say for lots of other games out here now.

    Very important! For anyone who sees this and wants to try the game. DO NOT tame a green slime! There's a quest for it in the first town. It will delete all your equipped items and future items that you equip, making your character unplayable. The issue has been reported to the devs.

    Its refreshing to see something that isn't your average indy-roguelite-survivors clone. This looks pretty great. Using this asset pack I bet you could port this to VR and it would be a big hit for the VR community.

    I grabbed this as soon as it became available the other day and it's been a lot of fun. Right now it's largely a big sandbox but I'm sure with time a lot of those little locations like that abandoned logging camp will get filled out a bit more. Also there are just so many skills, you can build whatever character you want, and there's a bunch of hidden skills that you can find out in the world (kinda wish you had shown to the end of that wizard tower because there's one up there at the top, actually).

    So I bought this game based on this video, it's very well priced, definitely early early access, you cant build any of the buildings or repair your castle yet, they have items you cant get as a placeholder. That being said I still find myself pouring hours exploring and killing, I love that they have lots of fun secrets to explore/figure out. Also Splattercatgaming you can charge melee attacks and you have an alt attack with middle mouse. (oh and a shield bash with attack while holding block)

    The game looks pretty sweet. I'm glad games like this are coming out - Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon also has similar mechanics for the learning of skills but no base building or anything like that and a very dark tone but the combat in both these games looks similar.

    HELL YEAH! I've been following this game for nearly a year now on Reddit and Twitter. The fact that one dude's put out a game that already looks and feels good to play in early access already is amazing. Just seeing all the little world events, physics interactions, and game systems meshing together makes me think this guy's got a strong future ahead of him. Also, a good case study on not judging games with asset packs on sight.
    One final note, but I adore games that have skill based leveling (you do something -> get XP -> level up). It feels more satisfying than just waiting for your main level up to distribute points.

    Whilst many asset flip games are doodoo, there are the few where it is genuinely a labour of love and the single dev is using assets to supplement the lack of a team. Been following this one for a year or two now and I'm really excited for it, I'll probably wait a bit into EA to grab it, but it has looked promising since I saw the first few little development videos. This is probably going to be compared to Gedonia, but I feel like they're relatively distinct in their systems and general play feel. Gedonia is pretty good, its REALLY jank but its good jank that makes you smile instead of frustrating jank that makes you want to stop playing.

    • @cougarm8421
      @cougarm8421 11 місяців тому +4

      @OnlyForThePriceOf999 11 місяців тому +1

      @@cougarm8421 That's fair. I guess the term "asset flip" implies that they're just tossing in a bunch of assets and then putting it on the market to make a buck. Didn't think about that.

    The melee techniques in this game are more legitimate than other games I've seen, over all. The mace keeps flowing instead of direction changing because of its weight, the spear has an animation that tries to go over defenses like shields, etc. Very cool.

    Shout out to the devs for making the enemies even slightly smart. I love the fact that the enemies actively try to avoid and sidestep around the player. Why isn't that more common? It's so nice to see enemies with some kind of interest in self-preservation.
    Noticing location damage - that seems like it could have some real potential. Don't know if it's just aesthetic or has mechanical impact.

    Bought this game and it's so much better than I was expecting. It's still got a long way to go of course but I feel like it can become really good. It's already got all sorts of neat things but my favourite is probably all the different ways to move around, then there's all the different skills that are almost always levling and it's a great dopamine hit.
    I've gone with a gun, magic and spear build so far and it works really well, the beginning flintlock pistol feels like it has a lot of weight behind it and the bullet time makes it feel quite fun. There's even an accuracy skill that lets you know how far your shot was, which is both good information and nice encouragement.

    Damn, this looks straight up like FPP version of Gedonia (which is a good thing, because Gedonia is a damn good indie game, but it's eerie just how similar the artstyle is).
    EDIT: Taking a quick glance at both, I suppose they relied on the same asset packs, because some inventory icons or even enemies are absolutely identical. Again, nothing terrible about it - asset packs exist to be used and save devtime, but initially I thought it's some sort of a sequel/spinoff by the same dev.
