Wonderful Annemarie, you allow us to create mental windows, with responses to situations that stop us in the dialogue. Remembering your studied "scenarios", we provide security at Gramma.
Hi Annemarie, thank you for your channel! I so appreciate that you are sharing much more than confident English with us! These are also lessons in social communications skills and empathy!
I had a thought for it, but I thought better because it is contradict to every aspect of my life and my words. Honestly leading me to confusion and frustration.
I don't have a very good English but when I listen to You I understand everything so I feel a little bit more able to learn more without frustations... thank You so much Annemarie! Respect to the topic..mmm...one clarifying question that I could asking: "I'm really interested to understand You better, so You are saying...(paraphrase what I understood)...Is it so?"
Hi Luciana, I'm so pleased to know my lessons have been helpful to you! And yes, your example is certainly a good option when you want to clarify. Another option is, "I'd like to be sure I understand you correctly. So, you are saying..." There are many wonderful ways we can clarify.🙂
As always thank you for your help Annemarie, as a Romanian I have learned a lot from you, I feel more and more confident speaking English, my English has been improved dramatically, thank you!
Thank you so much , I have just started to listen your videos...and they are so clear and it's helps me to improve my English ...cose I lost it somehow the last 20 years...I'm so greatful to you...😊 GBU
I really like your videos. I watch them nearly every day. Every time, I always remind me, like, hey you have not watched your teacher s video. I see you as my teacher.
I believe that my life will change better by your wonderful lessons. Scenario 1: The question is: To summarize, you’re saying that broadcast is the best one, correct? Scenario 2: The question is: I’d like to understand your thoughts further. Could you please tell me more about the benefit will gain in the project be the changes which will be made in it?
Hi Annemarie, An interesting and informative video. I appreciate your efforts and learned many new things, it is truly helpful to all learners. Thank you,
Thank you so much for your useful video, Annamarie i got some tips or the best ways from you to get understand when i am ingaged in conversattion or discussing what's issue
Thank you. Sometimes I don't understand what they say because of unfamiliar. Q2. To summarize, what you say is some changes to the project. Could you tell me more about?
Thank you so much for such useful video! Now I know how to ask for clarification. However, how can I give clarification or explanation when someone asks me for my clarification (in 1 of those senarios you mentioned). In other words, how I can respond if I am asked in 1 of 4 those situations. That must be a big help if you have another video for this topic. Thank you so much. I'm really waiting forward to your next video!!!
Thank you for the question. When someone asks for clarification, it's important to provide an alternative explanation. To do so we can use stories, examples, synonyms, and more. This is definitely a topic worthy of a future lesson! 😊
1. Sorry, I'm not so familiar with this book. Could you expand more on the details? 2. I didnt quite catch the main point of the change. Could you give us more details or clarify why there would be some changes?
thanks a lot you're amazing 1st scenareo: sorry i didn't catch the main point .can you tell me how a and b are connected to eatch other? 2nd scenareo:i want to understand your thaughts further can you expand on details why we need some changes to the project im working on?
I wish to ask a clarification to those 2 people that put the thumb down.I dont get your point,i dont catch the reason.I think this is personal, because I cant possibly imagine that someone does not consider this video excelent. Thanks Annemarie from italy
Thank you, Annemarie, for the detailed explanation. I'd like to leave my clarifying questions here. Scenario 1: Sorry, I didn't catch the main idea; Can you tell me how your points relate to the theme? Scenario 2: I'd like to understand your thoughts further; Could you explain why you make changes to the project in detail?
As always, thank you for your great valuable lessons. Scenario 1: What to say is: If I understood you correctly, you are saying that this book is...., am I correct? Scenario 2: I'd like to learn your thoughts further. If possible, could you please share a bit more about why we need to make some changes to the current well-ongoing project xxx?
Wonderful!! I'm glad you've got some new clarifying questions to use in conversation. One note: "I'd like to learn your thoughts further." Rather than "learn" someone's thoughts we use "understand." So you could say, "I'd like to understand your thoughts further." 😊
Is it possible even in a job interview for instance they ask me a question I don't understand? May I use them?( ex: what is my goal in the future I don't understand the question could I use them please? I passed a interview call center job they ask me a question so far, I can not know which question was .
Absolutely. In English job interviews, it is acceptable to clarify the question. You don't want to do so for every question but if there are 1 or 2 you are unsure about, it's definitely okay to ask for clarification.
There is a big problem that I don’t know how to deal with. I can understand your English here, but I can’t understand what people are saying in real life. Maybe it is because that different people have different accent. So i found the reason I don’t know what to say is that I’m always worried that I can’t understand.
Hi, KarenCareer! I'm sorry to hear this. It can be frustrating when you can't understand what is being said. I'd recommend revisiting this lesson and practicing scenario #4. Here is an example, My apologies; I'm unclear on what you have said. What do you mean by [repeat phrase]?
Wow. We all confront so many unknowns, lost and yet the most knowledgeable ones admit that they know nothing. Thanks.
I just don't know how to clarify my situation to strangers so I hope this video is gonna help

Whats your name mam....

Speaking to somebody as if they are dumb or you act as you're dumb doesn't work, It just sounded very disingenuous.
Thanks 🙏
