@@raymondmassie4898 Bernie said "There was a period when I was going through that whole ‘got to get back to my roots’ thing, which spawned a lot of like-minded songs in the early days, this being one of them. I don’t believe I was ever turning my back on success or saying I didn’t want it. I just don’t believe I was ever that naïve. I think I was just hoping that maybe there was a happy medium way to exist successfully in a more tranquil setting. My only naiveté, I guess, was believing I could do it so early on. I had to travel a long road and visit the school of hard knocks before I could come even close to achieving that goal."

It is hard for me to believe that someone has never heard of Elton.. but then again his music was the soundtrack of my youth.. in the 70s, you could not go 15 minutes without hearing a song of his on the radio. We used to call the radio station and request "Razor Face", or some other deep cut that did not get as much air time. They don't make music like that anymore, in my opinion.

Elton is phenominal - I have been listening to him since the mid 70's - love all his early music - I got to see him for the first time here in Australia 2020 on his final tour 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' - a gift from my children - he was amazing - in recent times besides releasing songs - all the music was composed by Elton for 'Lion King'

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" doesn't come from "Wizard of Oz. " Im not sure what inspired the song for him, but sounds like y'all covered it.
    Thanks guys!.... rock on!

My first album purchase as well in the 70's! Amazing how well it still stands up today, and it really deserves to be listened to as an album, not by individual songs. That is how I (and I suspect you) absorbed this music. Taupin wrote the songs only Elton could sing.

So dang cute together! Second, awesome singers to react to. I’m LOVING y’all! Your reactions are so pure and I love the smiles when you hear the music and get into it. From the Allison Krauss video - CONGRATS on the babies and you can see how the purity in her voice moved y’all to think about your family. I just adore y’all! (And I agree, I needed this Elton John song today!) I subscribed and I’m putting Female Friday on my calendar! Keep up the variety in the music and singers! I can’t wait tell my Daddy about y’all!
