The way this song is used in the movie, "Almost Famous" is one of the most effective uses of music in any film! Absolutely brilliant!
💯
Yesssss..
Indeed
Honestly, one of the best scenes of any movie ever because of this song.
One of my favorite movies. I can watch it over and over.
I love this song. My wife is a ballet dancer. She danced in a local company in Germany. She's all of 5' and 90 lbs soaking wet. We had been dating for a while and I was smitten with her. One day we went to the beach. She was wearing this gorgeous little black bikini that highlighted her beautiful olive skin. We were relaxing, listening to music when this song came on. She began dancing across the beach, twirling and spinning. I melted and knew she was my heart and soul at that moment. She's been my Tiny Dancer for 39 years.
Beautiful story! Thank you for sharing it.
Beautiful 😍
I can see your story in my imagination. Love to you and your beautiful wife.
Beautiful !
Legendary
Always thought it was "Hold me Closer Tony Danza."
(about 7 people will get that)
More than 7!!! 🤣
I got it !
That is exactly why i posted something a few hours ago.
Check it out.
😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
"Funeral for a friend" is a MUST.
It's "Funeral for a friend/Love Lies Bleeding". They go together.
Yes! And Madman, and Take Me to the Pilot.
Your Song, Candle in the Wind, Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting, Daniel, Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me, The Bitch is Back, Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Honkey Cat, Levon... Too many. Listen to the whole Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album. It's a masterpiece.
All of there are a must. You can do an Elton John week easy probably 3 a day for a month if you go deep into the catalog.
I know I said this with the Billy Joel reaction but I saw them together in concert. Billy did a set then Elton did a set then they played together doing each other’s songs. Best 3 hours of my life lol (don’t tell my wife 😉)
Once again you guys are great I wait all day to see your reactions. Keep doing what your doing
Essentially Greatest Hits no vol and number
I add my vote to all of these. A special request for Empty garden. It was elton and Bernie's tribute to john Lennon after he was killed. Great, great song
There are 2 versions of Candle in the Wind. One is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe & the other honors Lady Diana Spencer. Both are beautiful yet sad to hear.
Elton John released something like 9 albums in the first 6 years of the 1970s, and they’re all incredible. Captain Fantastic and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road will always be among my favorite albums of all time.
(Confession: When I was 6 years old, I dressed up as Captain Fantastic for Halloween.)
The scene in the movie "Almost Famous" where the fake bands sings this on the tour bus with their roadies & entourage is freaking great. Check out the whole movie.
It's the greatest scene of all movie!
Yessss... the song always reminds me of this movie scene now. One of my all-time favorite films!!!
I was going to make this same comment…
@@skinmeister1 Same.
@@ginnywhat5777, it's on Amazon Prime right now. I think it's leaving soon, though.
You guys are witnessing absolutely the genius sir Elton John ❤ he's a gift from heaven to help us though life 🧬❤️
this song is a MASTERPIECE!!!
"Someone Saved My Life Tonight". If you like a good story song, His lyricist Bernie Taupin wrote the words about something that happened to Elton. I won't spoil it, but it's a great tune.
that one is one of my 3 favorites by him 💗💗💗
This is his best song, in my opinion. It’s just magic. And it’s 70s Elton. Can’t beat 70s Elton.
Yes!!!! Captain fantastic n brown dirt cowboy album, Amazing!!! The art work on album also crazy amazing
“Sugar Bear - Sugar Bear!!” Those harmonies - so beautiful.
Another favorite of mine
The song is about Bernie Taupin's wife. Bernie Taupin writes the lyrics and Elton creates the melody for almost all his songs. FYI, Eltons real name is Reginald Dwight. Check out his first big hit and signature song, "Your Song".
I often need to remind myself that Bernie wrote all of the lyrics to Elton’s songs. Bernie’s first wife literally was a “seamstress for the band.” Bernie indicated in an interview that he used the phrase “blue Jean lady” to conjure up images of the free-spirited women they met in California; noting they were very different from the women they knew in England.
My mother was a big fan of Elton John....it was playing on the radio a few days after she passed away and now it holds a special place for me....
What's remarkable to me is it takes almost 2 1/2 minutes before the chorus. Unheard of today, where the songs themselves don't go more than 2-3 minutes. He managed to build up tension all that time til you're just aching for the release.
I can’t hear this song anymore without thinking of “Almost Famous”. Not complaining because I really dig that movie…
Me too!
Great movie
Same. Lol! Whenever my daughter and I hear this in the car, we always belt out the chorus together and giggle.
One great unforgettable scene. 😎
I need to go home,,,, You are home.
"Your Song" came out in 1970 and my husband courted me with that song (he learned how to play it on the guitar) when I was 13 and he was 15. I moved away and married after high school, he went into the Navy and married. We both divorced and found each other 13 years to the day after we met. We have been married now for 38 years. "Your Song" is not only a beautiful song but very special for us. There are so many great hits, you really can't go wrong with anything you choose.
What a sweet story and great memory.
That was our wedding song, live version.
Cool story!
I was born in 1973...Don't go Breaking my heart was the first song I learned of Elton, Your Song is in my top 3....Philadelphia Freedom, too many to name, Daniel is one of my go to songs still in 2022.
Beautiful story! Thanks for sharing💕
As many of the commenters have mentioned, this song is on the Almost Famous soundtrack, and is part of one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history (because of this song).
But, that movie is based on the true story of Cameron Crow, who started writing for Rolling Stone magazine as a teenager. In the movie he travels with a fictional band called "Stillwater", and it's his job to cover the band while they're on tour.
He meets many, many interesting characters along the way -including Penny Lane played by Kate Hudson.
It's an amazing movie. Get all snoogly on the couch and watch this movie.
I'm still upset that Kate Hudson didn't win the academy award for that performance! Love this classic movie!!!
SUCH a great scene!!!
PLEASE, PLEASE watch this movie on your other channel. It’s a classic and I think you’ll both love it!!
GREAT SCENE!!
You're getting a taste of what a lot of us have been listening to since the '70's and a major factor in why, at least for me and I'm positive I'm not the only one, who absolutely knows that today's music doesn't even begin to compare to the music of the '70's and '80's. Back then they played music the way it was meant to be played.
I’m 60 years old now and still get chills every time I hear him sing and play that piano.
I'm 61 on the 13th and this is my last year, but it's ok cause my fondest memories have always been me through my rough teen Years laying on the floor with my headset just drowning in my Elton John.
The string arrangement keyboards and drums bring a tear to my eyes
It makes this old hippie so happy to see you younger folk exploring older music and stuff out of what you normally listen too. Music is a universal language :) Keep up the great work!
Agreed. I've been digging into these for a few days now. It's giving me the rare and unexpected opportunity to hear these songs for the first time again, through their ears. I'm falling in love with this genre.
Sing in your own accent Reggie boy!
Right on!
Yes, this old hippie is happy to see that young people today can listen and appreciate the great songs we listened to growing up. The ‘60’s and ‘70’s were such an explosion of talent and such a variety of music that we hadn’t seen before or since that time.
Side note - the TV show Rob is thinking of might be "CHEERS" which starts out with a lyrical piano....loved that song and the show
That's it 100%, at least that's what came to my dumbass mind when he mentioned it. It's very close.
I was thinking Cheers or maybe Hill Street Blues.
I was 15 when this song was released, and I'm 65 now. It gives just as many goose bumps now as it did back then.
It wasn’t a chart topper, but “Funeral For A Friend “ is an amazing musical journey.
Absolutely the best. Going to go find it on YT now.
Agree
“I Guess that’s why you Call it the Blues”is my all time favorite song by Elton John!!
"I Guess That's Why THEY Call It The Blues." Love that song!
@@kennbicknell5492 I love that song too.you close your eyes and it makes you float away
The whole album is underrated. I love Cold as Christmas.
Makes me cry every time. Oh well
Same!!!!
Elton‘s writing partner explained it: Taupin says that the song is not about Maxine (his wife). Here's the story he tells: "We came to California in the fall of 1970, and sunshine radiated from the populace. I was trying to capture the spirit of that time, encapsulated by the women we met - especially at the clothes stores up and down the Strip in LA. They were free spirits, sexy in hip-huggers and lacy blouses, and very ethereal, the way they moved. So different from what I'd been used to in England. And they all wanted to sew patches on your jeans. They'd mother you and sleep with you - it was the perfect Oedipal complex."
Taupin adds that the "tiny" was poetic license, although these women were all petite. And "Tiny Dancer" sounds a lot better than "Small Dancer" or "Little Dancer."
This is completely different from how someone else explained this in the comments. It's weird that there can be so many explanations for one song. Both can be true.
@@dlcalbaugh I think i believe Taupin’s account. He WROTE the lyrics!
@@drieuxkoeppel8152 You do know that Taupin and John have been a couple for decades?
@@drdr76 Umm, no! They are not a couple. Elton John is gay and married to David Furnish. Bernie Taupin is straight and married to heather Lynn Kidd.
This song was dedicated to Maxine. You can read "With Love to Maxine" in the lyrics along with the booklet..... And Maxine was Bernie's girlfriend.
Best song? He's got so many, lol.
My favorite: Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters.
That's my current favorite as well. It gets in your head and won't leave.
You're doing way better than I've ever done. I'm completely incapable of even bringing it down to a "favourite five"
Mine too.
I got into that song late and now it’s one of my favorites.
Do you know how refreshing it is to watch reactors who do not get caught up in the lyrics and just focus on the music first? This is like grown up breath of fresh air reacting. Thank you both!
Absolutely and I love this couple's reactions how open and honest.
I get frustrated when the reactors pause every 30 seconds to talk about the lyrics. You can't enjoy the song. Just kick back, listen to the song and then react. It's a lot more enjoyable that way 👍
We had some very good music back in them 70s ,,
@@theodoreritola9758 yes we did 👍😊
@@Rita.R That's exactly what I'm talking about. Some other reactors would stop on the first line... "what's a blue jean baby la lady?" ugh 🤦♀️ I love this couple understand lyrics are poetry at times.
Then of course, there is his track Daniel. Another beautiful song
@@SuperBluewatermelon Your brother has good taste :)
That song always makes me cry
I still love his "I'm Still Standing" Love that anthem. He's so versatile. His 80s stuff is totally diff but equally great. "Sad Songs Say So Much" and "I Guess Why They Call It the Blues" then in the 90s "Healing Hands" was a favorite.
Jep!!!!i think we listen to the same LP's
Elton was on top at his very best in his early years in his first 5 or 6 albums. Every single album with almost every song is memorable! Madman Across The Water, Indian Sunset,Levon, Love Song From The Tumbleweed Connection album!
Bennie and the Jets is one of Sir Elton John's most popular songs.
Lol. I never liked that song but so many people love it. Idk- just one of those.
It's my favorite, actually, lol. That and Someone Saved My Life Tonight ❤
Bennie and The Jets is my favorite song by Sir Elton!
Another one of my favorites
While it may not be his most well known song, Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding is possibly his best song.
I totally agree, it's my favorite song of his.
Love this song! There’s a live version that’s amazing!!!
Written when Elton was absolutely on top form!
I'm about the only between my friends and family that loves that song, nobody else likes it.
It looks like you're the only one with great taste in music then! 😉
THIS song gets me EVERYTIME ! My youngest daughter was born 2 months premature and was actually stillborn for the first 4 minutes ! I would play this song for her and the doctors & nurses saw "noticeable changes" in her vitals! Finally on January 18th, 2014 we got our matching Mother/Daughter tattoos ! Mine was actually done in Eryca's handwriting and hers was done in my handwriting !💖💖💖.. and now, that beautiful child has BLESSED me with 2 grandsons, Landon just turned 4 In May and Jaxson will be 2 in December. And she has the best husband.. obviously because he deals with my crazy ass and he still loves me 😉.
Also, it took over 30 YEARS to actually MAKE A VIDEO FOR THIS SONG... So y'all NEED to see that ESPECIALLY because it DOES help explain some of the lyrics. He and Bernie wrote this song on their very first trip to the USA ! One example is that the religious group The Hari Krishna, was HUGE then and the did pass "tickets out for God" , at least that's what they believed 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
I love how you two really listen to the music of my past with such openness and love. It makes me so happy to see it all reach deep inside you the way it did and still does for so many of my generation...enjoy it all and take good care of each other!
"I guess why they call it the blues", "Someone saved my life tonight", "Sad Songs", Levon"
Someone Saved My Life Tonight! My favorite Elton track. Followed by Blue Eyes, Bennie and the Jets, Little Jeanie, Empty Garden, I'm Still Standing, and Your Song. The iconic Rocket Man and Candle in the Wind are automatically added. And don't forget his amazing duets! Whatever Gets You Through The Night w/John Lennon, Bad Blood w/Neil Sedaka, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me w/George Michael and Don’t Go Breakin' My Heart w/ KiKi Dee! Prolific musical genius and modern day bard! PS I also like The One. What a once in a century talent!
You HAVE to watch “Rocketman” the movie about Eltons life…. All the best songs, almost like a musical! It’s so good, Taron Egerton was so GREAT in it and sings himself. Favorite movie !!!!!!
yes! Such a beautiful move! I love it
It is a musical, and historical bollocks.
@@Gromit801 Part musical fantasy, part biopic, I believe Sir Elton explained it as… based on his life but of course historical liberties were employed.
Compete historical accuracy isn’t really why I watched it; it’s not a documentary! Rocketman is a beautiful movie musical and I adore it. It’s helped me through some bad days.
Jay asks "What did he do to get knighted by the queen?" Well, in short, for his substantial contributions to music and charity! Elton John is amazing isn't he! We got to see him in concert when he performed at the Hollywood Bowl! He is a great performer on stage! Thankfully viewers here have relayed the meaning of "Tiny Dancer" One of the popular songs I love are Saturday Night's Alright for fighting, "I'm still Standing', and Crocodile Rock" Just because you asked! :) Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕👍👏
And paid mucho taxes.
Love your back drop, you are both wonderful. He was knighted for just being the amazing Elton John. No other reason needed
Three bangers today guys. You're killin it. Nobody dislikes Elton or his music, this is my favorite of his.
So many hits ! A true Icon ! Rocket Man, Bennie and the Jets, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, I'm Still Standing, Candle in the Wind. Can't go wrong with any of EJ songs.
I literally just found your channel today. And I gotta say THANK YOU ! I need to smile and I only discovered this year that 'Reaction Videos' are KEEPING ME HEALTHY ! I'm already subscribed !!
So happy to see a younger generation who are rap fans, appreciate Elton's classic music! He's timeless and the greatest artist ever! It's all about the lyrics and how Elton puts the music to it!
Elton is everything you want to hear, all songs differ. Like Queen and Freddie.
Continuation of the British invasion!
And George Michael
You know. Tom Jones was also dubed a sir. By the. Queen. I love Elton. Can you play. Kevin.

I danced to this song with my dad in my wedding right before Covid hit. It was the song that played during our favorite scene in our favorite movie, so we carried it to the dance floor! Thanks for reacting to this one and putting a smile on my face today!
All of Elton John’s lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin. Elton’s break out song was Your Song. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Except on 'A Single Man' - Gary Osborne....
@@williamlee6444 And "Little Jeannie" was written by Gary Osbourne.
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, by anyone. Elton is extraordinarily talented. Thank you for reacting to this! I loved it! 🖤
"Someone Saved my Life Tonight"
"I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues"
"The Way You Look Tonight"
are just three of my many favorites of Elton's
The 1975 song, written by Taupin and set to music by the then celebrated Elton John, tells the story. The opening line, "When I think of those East End lights" is a reference to the London flat. Linda Woodrow is the “Princess perched in her electric chair,” and the “Sugar Bear” who “saved my life tonight” is Long John Baldry.
The official video gives this song a entire different feel. The movie ' Almost famous ' helped bring this tune alive. Great movie btw.
Yeah. I absolutely love the official video. It captures my love/hate relationship with LA perfectly.
Actually.. the movie "Aloha Bobby and Rose" was the original💞
actually wasn't a huge fan of this song till I seen the movie. Now I ♥ it
I have to watch it tonight
I love the country twang in Elton’s voice in his early songs. Country Comforts is another good one of his.
I love ❤️ the orchestration in this song
Jay, the piano intro of this song always reminds me of the theme song to "Cheers". Could that be what you heard, too?
That's what I thought when they asked
Me too!
Honestly. It goes like this. The theme from Cheers reminds you of this.
@@CharCanuck14 mee three!
I thought so too👍🙂
Everybody's got a favorite. I like I'm Still Standing, personally.
Beautiful, Elton John never gets old!!! Timeless
This is the first channel I’ve subscribed to after using UA-cam for years. I throughly enjoy listening to the soundtrack of my life while watching you two react it a way of genuine appreciation. It’s like I having a guess over that’s willing to listen as I pull out a few hundred vinyl LPs of B-sides and deep cuts. You each remind of different friends I’ve known. I’m an old man now, but nothing gives me more joy than the music and associations related to the events of the times. The only problem is I’m losing sleep clicking from one of your videos to the next. My favorite moments are some of the unintended, naive analyses you often make trying to decipher meaning or intonations behind the music creation. Refreshing.
If you liked Tiny Dancer you MUST listen to Madman Across the Water, the title track from the LP both songs are featured. The string arrangements will make you swoon.
Also, I watched your video of Joe Cocker (not Crocker) at Woodstock. For my money, the most dynamic performance there was Santana’s Soul Sacrifice. Stunning. Must be the full version, if it’s edited down it’s a sacrilege. No lyrics, just balls out energy.
You know he wrote the music for The Lion King, right? And he recorded versions of Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight that were EVERYWHERE back in the day.
And he won an Oscar for that music.
"Someone Saved My Life Tonight". One of his best
Guys, you should do the official video for this song, it was only made a few years ago. It is brilliant. Brings the song to life.
One of my favorites - this song begins so softly with hardly more than piano and builds and builds to full orchestra then fades. Its just lovely.
One of the greatest constructed songs ever written.
Almost Famous baby, one of the best music scenes in a movie ever
Elton John’s songs are ALL hits. All of them. 🕺🏽
The song gets a thumbs up, after all it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Then, the two of you get a definite thumbs up.
My favorite Elton John isn't his biggest hit but "Empty Garden" just moves me.
Great song about missing his good friend, John Lennon. Gets me every time.

50 year old woman here…LOVING watching you get to know the music that’s rocked my life. Keep it up. I’m a big fan.
You have to listen to his breakthrough hit, “Your Song”. It’s his first, it’s his best!
Do you know that he offered that song to the Monkees before he released it? Guess the Monkeys waited too long to record it and the rest is history.
@@jiordone8563 I can hear Davey Jones singing this.
This song from 1971 is a winner like most all of Elton's songs. Tiny Dancer always gives me chills. Keep up the good work Rob Squad, there is still so much great music from the 60's, 70's and 80's and I am so glad I was around back then when music meant something. If you guys are looking for another memorable song by Elton you got to give a listen to the song SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT from 1975, an emotional ballad with a memorable story behind it.
Love Elton John! Check out his song, "Daniel"! Another one is "Your song"!
Guys I went down a rabbit hole watching your reactions. I'm 52 so I've heard every song you've reacted to, that being said I love watching your reactions. Keep up the great work!!!!!!
My all time favourite Elton John song has always been "Empty Garden". Always makes my heart clench when I hear it
Best tribute song. I like it so much better than Candle In The Wind, either version.
Let this be a lesson to you. Elton John's songs are difficult to beat. Check out "Levon."
seconded Levon is easily one of his most powerful songs where he really fires his voice off.
Yes! Yes!! Levon is amazing.
my dogs name is Levon! :P
One of my favourite Elton songs ever!
Levon is Sir Eltons favorite.
One of many of Elton's masterpieces.
Elton's music made us all feel like dancing, and just being....happier.
SO HERE'S A MUST FOR YOU: WHENEVERRRR YOU LISTEN AND REACT TO ELTON, YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT THE LYRICS ARE BY ( BERNIE TAUPIN ) AND THEN BERNIE PRESENTS THE WORDS TO ELTON AND HE WRITES THE MUSIC PRETTY QUICK TO EVERYTHING THEY'VE DONE! :)
Yeah, they were such an amazing song writing duo; Bernie writing the words, and Elton setting down the music to it. Outstanding.
HIs most famous song might be "Candle in the Wind" which was written as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe after her passing. Her birth name was Norma Jean which he references in the song and that opening line "Goodbye Norma Jean" is probably one of the most iconic in popular music.
Then it became even more famous and sold as a single when he changed some of the lyrics and played it at Princess Diana's funeral, then sold it as a single.
If you haven't heard it yet, check out Your Song by Elton. My favourite by him though is funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. It's one of my favourite pieces of music. It's a long song but well worth it.
I just found your channel and I've watched like 10 of your videos! I really love your energy and openness to anything and everything. Congratulations on your new little member to the family! You both really put a smile on my face and made my day so thank you. Much love! J.
Elton's lifetime lyric writer, Bernie Taupin wrote this song about his first wife, who he met because she was the seamstress for Elton's band.
"The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone else when you're uncool." RIP Donna K, you will always be the one I was stupid enough to let go

"Hold me closer, Tony Danza" is such a great song, one of Elton John's best songs.
😂
This song is from one of Elton's best albums, Madman Across the Water. There are so many great tracks, like Levon, Holiday Inn, Razor Face and the title track are just superb. Elton and Bernie were in top form with this wonderful LP.

Title is “Candle In The Wind” :)
@@allieren Wow! I know my music pretty good, but I'm failing horribly. Trying to multi-task. Been up way to long working on some painful things. I just got on here & already 2 mistakes in the 1st 2 comments. Sorry! 🤪
We listened to this song on repeat all the way from Baghdad back down to Kuwait, I’ll never forget that ride…amazing song!
Great reaction. I didn't appreciate Elton John as much when his music first came out; however, I am realizing by watching reaction videos that we were spoiled as teenagers. We just expected great music. Isn't it true that you don't always appreciate fully what you have been given until others start to desire it? Cheers from Canada
Yeah, I remember concert tickets were 20-30 dollars back then. You could have seen all these amazing bands, with a date, for under 100 bucks!
Elton John writes some spectacular melodies. His piano work, his arrangements, and his vocals are outstanding. But his smartest move of all time was teaming up with lyricist Bernie Taupin whose song lyrics made Elton's sweet melodies into monster hits.
One of the all time greats. Thank you Sir Elton.
Tiny dancer is the little doll that sits on your dashboard and moves as you drive! Classic song love Elton
