Underrated comment. Yes once after Kaithi made machine gun look cool, almost all films after that began to use the same template. I still can't wrap head how KGF became such a hit when I find it's too much rajinism on steroid.
I live in Nellore (AndhraPradesh) now after working in USA for 10 years. This film is still haunting me since I watched it yesterday in my hometown. I could relate to myself in a way . That urge to talk to friends about this movie kept growing. This is not just another film.
The actor Pridhviraj , the director and music director ... what type of people are these ? How can someone produce an effect like this? what do they eat?

If you can keenly observe, the way director discussed the concept of 'God' through a character was wonderfully written. What an idea !!

Loved the movie, one of the best movies I have seen so far this year, for me the movie worked because it was done in such a way to utilise the complete capabilities of Prithvi and the dessert as a setting. The acting , direction , portrayal of animal and the change of the protagonist all seem all well executed. The scenes , sound design etc are also some of the best I have seen in Indian cinema. I don’t think anyone can or will portray this story better than blessey have done here. The hard work and dedication clearly translated to the screen as well. It’s not for the people who just wants entertainment from films but certainly for those who appreciate the emotionally connecting narratives.
Thanks for reviewing this movie. I saw the film in Malayalam without subtitles and without understanding more than a few words, I was just there, with Najeeb through all his pain and shock of everyday helplessness. You have described so many aspects as an outsider so well, while many reviews are stuck with the moments in novel not being represented well, you have analyzed the movie instead for what it is.

He doesn’t need to utter any dialogues to portray the helplessness. Emotion is his strong zone and when he weeps on screen, the viewers are moved. That scene when he uncovers his body, the actor in Prithvi literally peaked...🥵🫶🏻If Hollywood has #ChristianBale. Mollywood has Prithviraj!💎

Not sure what you meant by desensitised. Throughout the movie, I cringed in my seat and felt the dryness of the desert in my body, even while sitting in an air-conditioned theatre! This movie is a masterpiece.

Blessy at the time was one of the most sought after director of Malayalam industry in what is widely agreed to be the prime of his career. His decision to stick with this single endeavor for 16 years - if that is not true passion for the art form that is cinema then I don’t know what is.

In Aadujeevitham, We dont need to expects "Nolan"'s Layers when the layer is humanism.
She revealed the whole plot that's not a review.
I am feeling so proud and in tears even though I don’t have any connection to this movie other than I am a mallu.
The movie doesn't lag at all.... It's how the desert doesn't let you escape from its clutches..

anupama if u are reading this - to your point of the portrayal of arabs ... if u find it sadist it is because that is the reality. najeeb was near the rub al khali area of saudi which is horrific and arabs dont treat people from the sub continent with any respect be it Indian, pakistani or bangladeshi's.... times have changed but the time when najeeb faced his situation it was horrible. Not even the indian govt bothered for so many indians who struggle in the GCC treated like second class citizens.

The problem I had with the movie is that it forces me to keep myself aware and keep my thinking brain alive to catch the too brilliant by half subtleties and scene contrasts and because I need to keep thinking I am unable to let myself go and connect with the protagonist Also the second half was too stretched. I loved the movie, acting, cinematography but walked out of the theatre with a feeling of missed opportunity

Only missed you can say is more interaction with the animals, but other then that it shows authentic human degradation. We all think we are someone but it can be taken all away and become subhuman.
I think this is the right way to portray the exhaustion of escaping through a desert. They could have added some chasing scenes in the second half which would have made it more interesting. But the real challenge here is the cruel desert. Hakim sees the dead camel first, and finally he meets the same fate. Ibrahim knows he can't get out of that place, but he leads Najeeb towards freedom. It's a great movie in my point of view.

If you read the book, the movie doesn't really connect you emotionally as well. But then there is only so much the Director can do with with one man, surrounded by animals and desert, and a language that both of them don't understand. Everyone should watch the movie once!
The book has enought content for a 5 part series. You can't expect him to condense all that into one movie.

Why compare the book to the movie in the first place ! Benyamin himself mentioned that the book or rather the novel itself is just 30% of Shukoor‘s (original Najeeb as misterpreted by media) life. He has used all the artistic freedom to create a novel (ofcourse that's what a novel is supposed to do). A life condensed into a novel(with some artistic license) further condensed into a motion picture (with all the limitations of time and resources). I think the audience need to learn to watch and imbibe all three ie life,book and movie differently. Comparisons are inevitable though however it would not give justice to either of the three mediums. Having said that you are absolutely entitled to your experience, views and opinions !
