Did anyone observe in the pre climax when sumathi is being rescued by both bhairava and ashwathama. Ashwathama lifts bhairava pulling and it was shown as if a new child is being brought and also that closeup refers to Achilles (immortal with kavacha kundaralu from Troy) and the final twist reveals.

If this movie was just the 2nd half ,it would've competed woth the best of Hollywood that is how rousing it is .

First half is a drag with a lot of disjointed narratives and fails to emotionally invest the viewer in many of them, while the second half is brilliant.
Take it for what it is and improve, no?

Kudos to Nag Ashwin first for the very bold attempt at making a story like this!! Story is the backbone of the film and is carried so very nicely by all the lead star cast. A very well researched and written story! Merging characters from the past , references to scriptures and predictions in them combined with a stellar world set in the future wow! The movie takes your mind body and soul to a new world.
Yes we have seen Shambala, Complex and Khashi in the trailers and teasers but when you see them in large screen and for continued time, the way people are , their beliefs, what they stand for and hope for, who they protect and serve is all shown so beautifully!
I did think it had resemblance to other movies but if earth were to lose its resources it would be full of sand dunes with few habitable areas . If you are close to nature and with peace with it I can totally believe a quiet place over the mountains . Moving on to the characters
I cannot imagine anyone else performing Ashwathama if as per scriptures , he needs to protect the next avatar and to stand tall against all the future enhancements Amitabh ji just does it so convincingly. His telugu diction is so perfect and so suits the character!!!! He steals the show!!!
Prabhas as Bhairava brings in nice comedy refresher . All the Ashwathama and Bhairava fight sequences are a visual treat pre and post intermission.
I agree with what Nag Ashwin and Prabhas mentioned in one of the interview, if someone needs to stand against characters like Ashwathama and Bhairava you need a supreme villain , Kamal sir it is!! I am excited for what is next for this role . The context is set well for yashkin. Deepika looks very beautiful and again waiting for a bit more character building for her .
First half has issues with some unnecessary sequence and drags out a few scenes which I wish could have been avoided . Some of it helps set the world but I got slightly bored. I did not see the Amazon short versions to be clear. Still I felt it was not necessary. I could have easily taken an extra scene or two at Shambala or complex .
There are a few goosebumps moments in the movie . If you like Indian mythology and If you are a believer in God you for sure will like it more. Life finds a way! A little bit of context on kali, Kalki avatar , Kalki Puran did help appreciate some scenes even more. Climax / Last 30 mins is very very good!!
Vfx in this movie is the best I have seen in an Indian Movie. So many movies have/had the budget but fell so flat but this one No!!! So very impressed with all the sequences. Hardwork and attention to detail shows in every scene . Kudos to all the team involved .
Music is one with the movie for most part except for one unnecessary song in the first half . Only that song felt so out of place and fake . Other than this bgm take a lot of scenes to next level.
I get how the director and the crew decided to rather focus on editing and using any time
Budget left on post production than on promotions . I really really hope word of mouth gets around and more and more people watch it!!

Some people are comparing kalki with dune and some other hollywood movies but we are comparing with hollywood movies visuals is for the first time in Indian cinema history that means we can understand how great efforts they put into kalki.
I have seen dune and they both are not same.
To be fair, the inconsistent vocabulary makes sense in this world with a mixture of modern technology and ancient myths, especially when looking at the Complex, and Shambhala as two opposite parts of the world, with Kashi stuck somewhere in between.
It's almost like the Cyberpunk setting, where modern techno vocabulary meets japanese traditionalism.
Someone tell this woman that it takes more than one movie to create a cinematic universe. Of course there will be lags in the first part. The world building character intro and story plot takes time.
The movie is fabulous! Part1 seemed a little drag but the Part 2 was mind blowing fantastic!
Never saw harsha bogle played cricket but heard his commentry, making a film of this scale for 5, 6 years , Bringing directors vision on screen and presenting it to viewers is Herculean task, he is successful in this go watch yourself

Proud of Telugu cinema
Mahabharata story distorted. Let directors do not take support of our Celestial Epics ..for success if they are honest in their attempt
I finally had the chance to watch Kalki 2898 AD yesterday, and while it’s not a perfect movie, I absolutely loved it. It brought back memories of my childhood when I used to watch *Mahabharatam* every Sunday. The film has that same epic feel that resonated with me deeply. I'm definitely going to watch it again, and I can’t wait for the sequel. Amazing job by the actors, directors, and everyone else behind the scenes!
What about MAD MAX reference? First half was so bad that I was about to leave from interval, then thought of the ticket price and stayed. Second half was amazing, absolutely great!! hoping that next part will be a full length beauty

I just saw this the other day, I enjoyed it quite a bit but Kyra should not have been killed off so fast. Her partner had the personality of a wet blanket meanwhile she was one of the most memorable characters with less than 10 minutes of screen time

Background score was a disappointment tbh
Went in with high hopes but unfortunately it was a snooze fest. The screenplay was so slow & just boring. The only good parts were Amitabh Bachan's sequences, Mahabharata scenes & the final reveal. A lot of the story & vfx set pieces were a blatant rip off of several Hollywood movies and it was just painful to watch. The camera and the stunt sequence was very basic. The entire story could have easily been told in a single movie.
Kalki is gorgeous , lighted comedy and culturally rooted film 😊😊

While I appreciated the movie's stunning visual world, I found it hard to fully immerse myself and enjoy the experience because the subtitles were distracting. They moved so quickly that it pulled me out of the world I wanted to savor. I would have enjoyed it much more with an English audio version.
To me it was better than Bahubali. I saw the movie last night and didnt even get up to go to loo, it was that engaging. Except for the initial bit. We were hooked, right after Amitabh was reintroduced. All in all amazing movie. Has something for everyone. Like most Telugu movies are. I delayed watching this movie, thinking it was a flop. There was some hype before the release but not much after the release. I feel this movie didnt get talk it deserves. Hope Mr Bachan gets awards for his work in this movie.
Watched it in Hindi, for AB. Amitabh Bacchan carries the movie and proves why he is the Emperor of Indian Cinema. Felt the movie lagged on the humour front; but still made up for it with the visuals. Liked the global multicultural angle given to Shambhala. It sets the stage well for a major Hollywood or East Asian actor to step in for some future instalment.
The storyline is sincere and well-told. The treatment of the Hindu epics is masterful. Overall, very easygoing and enjoyable. One suspects the speed will pick up in Part 2.
This movie needs to dream bigger. The audience demands it!❤

#Kalki28989AD Poor storytelling and lack of focussed screenplay in the first half. Unnecessary characters , sub-plots and comedy in the first half almost undemied the movie.
But in the second half the movie takes on another level.
Amitabh Bachchan literally carries the movie on his shoulders . Powerful voice , Powerful screen presence and towering performance from Big-B brings a sense of deja vu of 1970s & 1980s.
Although I can understand TELUGU, but I watched the movie in HINDI just for the powerful voice and dialogue delivery of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan in Hindi.
Only a 1970s generation like myself can understand the impact of Amitabh Bachchan.
One of my favourite actresses Shobhana was also there but her role was very short much to the disappointment of the audience.
Another powerful performance from Kamal Sir.
Prabhas seems to be a lazy performer but he ups the tempo in the second half of the movie.
The visuals from Mahabharata gave me goosebumps.
Like so many earlier movies , TV serials and Theatrical plays even in this movie KARNA has been described as a better person than Arjuna.
This is a gross misrepresentation of Mahabharata.
In Ved Vyasa's Mahabharats KARNA has been described as "TRUNK OF AN EVIL TREE".
The EVIL TREE was Duryodhana.
We hope that in the Part-2 of KALKI the screenplay will be more focused and more emphasis is given to dramatic , emotional and Dharmic aspects.

These people don't call Jesus life is mythology but they dare to call lord Krishna's life mythology.
Exactly bro! When they say they have seen Allah or Jesus, those are also obviously stories told by ancestors throughout centuries, just like our ancestors have passed on the story of Mahabharat. And we even have ramsetu as proof for the existence of ramayan!

There was too much wasted on Prabhas with his dull humor and lackluster swagger, but the producers seem to be in love him. However, the second half of the movie was fantastic! I just hope the filmmakers avoid imitating characters like Deadpool or Star-Lord (Guardians of the Galaxy) in the future. Another aspect that struck me at the beginning was the lackluster CGI and the emotionless scene when Lord Krishna cursed Ashwattama. There was no anger, fear, or pain-it felt like Lord Krishna was simply giving instructions for a game mission.
FYI sane audiences are also in love with Prabhas now not just producers. Even his flop movies will earn over 100 crs opening day.

She simply wanted to spit the truth about this time waste, poorly executed nonsense of a film, but the amount of money Anupama ji must've gotten to say the line - "watch it in a theatre near you" is too much to let her say it. I literally just walked out of the theatre, it was such unbearable crass. I hope they don't make a part 2 of this. Rather please give the money to Brahmastra team, they did it faaaar better. Bye, I got to eat something nice to straighten my mood now.
Critics Anupama doesn't like South movies. She talks negativity in every movie that Bollywood can't make. South film makers are making Awesome movies. Which Bollywood critics can't digest. Could observe influence of Dune & Star wars series throughout the movie. In comparison to Star Wars, which is the story of an orphaned farm boy that is radicalized after a military strike kills his family. He is indoctrinated into an ancient religion and joins a band of insurgents on a terrorist attack that kills 300,000 people and The Rebel alliance would be inspired by Viet Cong, the guerrilla force that was Anti-imperialist Marxist-Leninists that opposed capitalism and imperialism and wanted to establish a socialist society with goal of worldwide socialist revolution.
But here in Kalki movie the ideology of Rebel is in complete contrast, associated with ancient religion, seems director wants to exploit the religion for comercial success like politians use caste & religion to loot nations resources.
Also in Dune series director would show how in the name of religion people are easy exploited by Bene Gesserit sisterhood, but in Kalki again it's a contrast where religion would be glorious by director.
So for the fans of Dune & Star Wars series, the Rebel ideology in Kalki might be a disturbing one.
Cinematography, Music, VFX and technical aspects of the movie was amazing.
Don't say indian cinema. Say Telugu cinema .
