@@cruelcrisis516 He is totally wrong. Coz the content of Malayalam movies relates to people living in Kerala, people in North can't relate to it. *The best examples are superhit movies like "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum" or "Sudani from Nigeria" and all. I don't think people in the North can relate to these movies* . Another example is "Katha parayimbol" a superhit Mollywood movie,,,but when this movie was remade to hindi as "BILLU" with legendary actor like Irfan Khan, that movie was a huge BoxOffice disaster and people of North couldn't even relate with the situational comedy scenes of that movie. Whereas those same scenes were able to connect with malayalam audience. 🙏🏻

I'm from Bangladesh and a loyal fan of Malayalam movies since the Ustad hotel days. Even you would be surprised to know that in Bangladesh we have specialized cinema groups for Malayalam movies where people post movie reviews, suggestions and even Bangla subtitles also made so that people can easily engage with the malaylam movies. You know what makes me sad, this is what Bengali movie industry was supposed to be. Oscar winner Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Ritwik Ghatak, we thought after they revolutionised Indian cinema and inspired Hollywood filmmakers, it has been a downslope since. I'm glad that our brothers from another mother from Kerala picked it up and are doing so good in producing quality cinema.
Having traveled to Kerala several times in the last one plus year incl recently I sensed something there which was quite different to the rest of India, well at least most of mainland India. I did not come across any one speaking nonsense. The places were green, clean, food was extremely hygienic, kitchens clean, and food reasonable. There must be an underbelly which is prevailing in every place, but whatever it might be, I really liked Kerala. No place is perfect, at least in India, but Kerela definitely drew me much more closer than most places in India. If it was not that warm, it is a lovely place to live in. I did see several mosques, churches, temples, but at the surface did not sense any aggression or hostility, in comparison to other states. People minded their business, did not glare and when spoken to spoke sense. Need to watch their films now.
Curious, do people glare at others in other states? Like you mentioned, is the aggression common? I’ve been to a few states as a student, bt I was young, n preoccupied with other stuff, so I don’t think my experience counts.

@@TimeShow-nt9bg totally didn't understand your first sentence. For the rest, you do realize that there are no original stories, right? The setting and premise changes, but all stories can be narrowed down to 7 basic narratives plots as per many academics most notably Christopher Booker. So, every story teller is influenced consciously or otherwise by existing narratives. So, please drop your "cheap" attempt at diminishing the skill with which the story from Suspect X was adapted onscreen by Jeethu Joseph. (For reference : The Seven Basic Plots : Why We Tell Stories" (based on 34 years of research). Retelling stories with own flair and flavor without making the viewer bored or feeling cheated requires a good story teller, and Jeethu Joseph undoubtedly demonstrates that with Drishyam. Of course, it is not the best movie out there and it comes with its own flaws. But, I wouldn't ask someone not to watch Drishyam because they have read Suspect X because they are not the same but similar.

As a Malayali I can't believe that Bollywood still in 2024 satisfies people with mass commercial unrealistic movies. Either people demand better or makers decide it. Else it will keep coming. They deserve better films in at least in this decade. The last SRK movies I liked was Chak de India. I miss that SRK badly.

Guru is the first Malayalam film submitted by India for the Oscars. I think you should really watch that movie..The movie tried to convey that the world we live in is our imagination and the things we are fighting for are non existent, a mithya. The story was by Rajiv Anchal and he used religion and religious fanaticism as a subset of our imagination or mithya dharana.. the movie is really really great if we grasp the concept it tries to convey.. My love with South Indian cinema, started with Ustad Hotel back in 2016 or 17, and since then I have watched movies from all four of its industries, but foremost love is still Malayalam cinema, 70 to 80% of these movies belong to it, and the reasons are the same which vlogger has explaned in its video... I like simplicity and localization of themes in these movies, I am not fan of Action and Mass movies, so in a sense he is true that I like Iranian and South Korean cinemas alot along with Mollywood In acting department my first love automatically is Dulquer Salman, then I have watched many of his hit films, like Banglore Days, Charlie, Parava (though in it he was in a guest role) etc... next one is Fahadh Faasil, I have seen him in Trance, C U Soon, Malik, Joji, Kumbalngi Nights and some others... Ather him, my third inclunation comes towards Kunchaco Boban... watched him first in Virus, then Anjaam Pathira, Nayattu, Pada, and last but not the least in Oscar Submitted film 2018: Everone is a Hero few days ago... In Film-making case, there are few of them, but one name which stand out for me is none other Anwar Rasheed, and it's no surprise that the reason is same of love at first sight, means when Ustad Hotel struck me hard, I was tended to see more of his films, so I watched above mentiond DQ's and Fahadh films... Still I have a bulk of South Indian movies to watch, and yes most of them are Malayalis... Thanks Mollywood to engage me with you, me who is an outsider, don't know your language, all watching is through English subtitles (no use of Hindi dubbing, bcz I am highly against it) Love and Respect from your western neighborhood... Yes, you are right. I started watching South indian cinema from uyare. I fell in love with their storytelling approach. However, I feel the same that Malayalam filmmakers should market their films in other parts of the country. I like to add one more thing..most mallus watch hindi, tamil, telugu , and kannada movies in their original language until recently. We appreciate all languages, and you can see most of the popular songs from these languages in any mallu celebrations. But It is very seldom Malayalam movies and its music celebrated outside Kerala. Because of the above reason, the Malayalam film industry should not replicate the mass movies made in other languages.. but should carry on the good work it is doing now.

Tats so true brother
Truly. Bengali film walked so we could run. ❤
Truly recommend. You'll be in for hell of a ride.

Dhrishyam (Malayalam movie) : which first indian movie that recreated as a korean movie based on dhrishyam story🔥❤️🩹 Malayalam industry ♥️
dhrishyam itself cheap remake of suspect x novel
Not korean, chinese
@@TimeShow-nt9bg Not exactly. After reading the book, I felt it was a very loose inspiration of the novel. And Drishyam is a fine example of how stories can be adapted from the written word with its own originality.
lol ...dhrishyam is typical indian village indian culture malayalm nothing else ..its a cheap copy of suspect x ...main plot of movie itself copied and u are calling it as insipiration?@@angiethebookaholic
As a Malayalee I used to always wonder how such unreal movies in Bollywood are becoming super hits. I kid you not, Malayalam movies strike the right chords in our hearts something of the likes of titanic, interstellar etc - And they do so with the budget of a heavy advertisement! Mohanlal's much acclaimed film “Guru” (1997) was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars for the Best Foreign Language Film category, but was not nominated. I used to be thrilled at the elements of fantasy used in this movie😅 but as an adult I was amazed by the metaphors used in this movie ( like THE “fruit” in this movie)😮

I like simplicity and localization of themes in these movies, I am not fan of Action and Mass movies, so in a sense he is true that I like Iranian and South Korean cinemas alot along with Mollywood
In acting department my first love automatically is Dulquer Salman, then I have watched many of his hit films, like Banglore Days, Charlie, Parava (though in it he was in a guest role) etc... next one is Fahadh Faasil, I have seen him in Trance, C U Soon, Malik, Joji, Kumbalngi Nights and some others...

Yes, you are right. I started watching South indian cinema from uyare. I fell in love with their storytelling approach. However, I feel the same that Malayalam filmmakers should market their films in other parts of the country. I am amazed there was no such buzz as it should be when 2018 was nominated for Oscar awards.
Its not "uraye ", it is UYARE😄
@zarashan thanks for correcting me. Still, it doesn't make me less fan of Malayalam movies.
I'm a Srilankan and in love with Malayalam films than any other.
When my colleague in hyderabad was praising and talking about world cinema other than English..I have asked him..have you ever watched a malyalam movie..and he is not even aware..that is the ignorance of Indian cinephiles
