This episode, along with the others which talk about the understanding and having a large visual library have been the most useful to me. Thanks Feng.

You were spot on about finding planes in Russia :) We have tonns of museums, and some contain avery rare models. For example I was able to find a WWI French bomber in a museum near Moscow, and took a load of photos of it, internet did not have a quarter of needed references! So I wouldn't be able to complete the project without the find

there are some imageboards supporting high resolution image posting, if you get lucky you may finds some nice textures or reference in at least 1600x1200.
and then just, saving saving saving the files, as a reference it's okay - textures are more complicated to use like in the previous videos often explained.
Thanks again for the new video :)

I'm using ACDsee Pro 3.0 on Win 7 x64 at home (no choice like you said). Yeah, it's definitely a little slower than Classic 3.1, but it's a lot better than the previous versions. The UI is clumsy though. It's weird that so many image "viewers" try to squeeze in photo-editing tools and bloating itself in the process.

    Hey there,
Sorry I neglected to answer your last post on the last vid. But, luckily, it's almost like Feng saw our conversation and answered it with this video! I bought the suite too, and got it [bridge] as well. Production Premium if I remember correctly.

go to deviant art and go to photography and you will get so many pictures that are useable for reference not necessarily from designers but you can get some useful stuff

Yeah, irfanView is pretty good. I think the only reason why I didn't use it was its UI (though the last version I tried was about 5 years ago). Maybe I'll download it again when I get into the office on Monday.

  • @Illumirage
    @Illumirage 13 років тому

Isn't Adobe Bridge kind of similar?
I think most designers or concept artists have a similar method of saving files. I do, but the categories are much broader. I can find what I need, when I need it though.
Thanks again for the videos Feng, they're great!

I know its a big ask, but it would be amazing if you could upload at least part of your reference library so inspiring students have a base library to add to. creating a library from scratch can be quite daunting for people just starting to get into the field.
PS thanks again for inspiring a whole generation of new designers :D

@Mulletmanalive Hmm, didn't bother me. I think all the years of watching action anime have adapted my eyes to rapidly-changing images and flickering seizure-inducing sequences. So adapt, human, adapt!

Hey! i gave few questions: If you get from internet (for instance) references for concrete work, how you store them? To separate folders and then you move it here? ... And how you are searching them? I see that you have it in folders, but if you have terabites at your home, you have it tagged or something? Or you just only scrolling if you are findind something?

Hey Feng its me again. You guys offer 3 classes that run for 6 weeks. Can you at least make those available online??? I am taking online classes in schools like schoolism and CGMW Master Classes. Lessons are pre recorded it. All you have to do is make some time for Q&A and check students homework. Thank you. Thumbs up if you agree.

Hey Feng, when you're scanning from books, what resolution are you scanning in at? Is there a difference when you are scanning textures vs reference materials or do you typically do one size to keep things consistant?

Hi Feng, I am hoping to go to university this year but i am a bit confused as to which area i should study. I love your work it is realy inspiring and i would like to do something very similar at university, which subject would teach me these skills?

You wouldnt get nearly the same quality of training if you dont do his class in person so an online would be a waste of your time because its not real time and hes not able to correct you in real time, with his own stuff.

  • @aquadias

I wished ACDSee 3.1 would get released for Win7, everything else is horrible in comparison, they're either bloated, slow, terrible interface (including modern ACDSee), too intrusive, the list goes on. It's amazing to think that there's not a single Image Viewer as good as ACDSee 3.1
