It's funny that UA-cam removed the Dane Cook excerpts, probably due to copyright infringement issues, while the whole point of the video was that his material was not original.
What's interesting is whenever Joe's with a bunch of comedians, none of them back him up, Joe's fighting the good fight on his own. They only agree when asked but they'll never interject or affirm what Joe's saying.
Rick Deckard don’t forget that Rogan is a badass in real life. He was literally a champion fighter. Most comedians are tormented wimps and wouldn’t get in someone’s face. The unique thing about Rogan is that he is not afraid to take on the crazies in the internet.
The comedy store is a an important venue for these guys. Bill threaded the line quite well I think. He lives in LA and probably, of all places, needs to be friendly with this one.
Joe Rogan on the right side of history here. He was right about Denise Leary too. The whole asshole song of Denise is a Louie ck bit too. Dennis stole off everybody
I feel bad for Joe here. If you've ever experienced something first hand, and then someone tries to argue with you that it didn't happen, it's one of the most infuriating things ever. Especially when they THINK they have a better understanding on it when they don't even partake in whatever "IT" is, and clearly haven't given it as much thought(by default)as you, AND don't have first hand experience. I know it's laughable for Rogan, but I also know it's undeniably frustrating, and often depressing to realize that there's people who are genuinely too self focused to observe reality as it plays out, and instead just make reality fit their narrow self serving narrative.
I see where you're coming from, but here's why you're not reaching the right conclusion: If we, as a collective, agreed on believing anyone who claimed to have first hand knowledge of any wrongdoing, we would eradicate the presumption of innocence, which would result in massive amounts of innocent people being punished for wrongs they did not commit, if you think too many innocent people are getting fucked over today, imagine what it would be like if you didn't have the right to defend yourself against an accusation. (Not defending Dane Cook, mind you, he IS guilty of stealing from other comedians, but not everyone who is accused of wrongdoing is Dane Cook)

remember when AMY SCHUMER was caught stealing jokes and Joe Rogan was yelling ''PARALEL THINKING, PARELEL THINKING!!!!! NOT STEALING!!!!!!!'' Funny how it works for the people that he likes but it doesn't for the people that he has personal problems with
Rogan b!tched and b!tched that Bobcat Goldthwait stole from Rogan's hero, Sam Kinison. Until Goldthwait proved that Kinison was ejected from clubs for sitting at the back and writing down everything Goldthwait said. Then Rogan stopped. There is video of Louis CK admitting that Denis Leary's partner (Chris Phillips) came up with the A$$hole song and apologized to Phillips (but not Leary). Rogan is just one of those guys who has a remarkable capacity for remembering other people's ideas and regurgitating them. This is often mistaken for intelligence, but it is not.
Look, comedy is personal. If you give me a funny perspective on something that some other comic has previously commented upon THAT is not stealing. Comics often compare it to songwriting (which they feel has protections comics do not enjoy) But in songwriting to prove plagiarism you must demonstrate that, not only was the verbage the same but so was the melody. THAT is stealing. (My Sweet Lord/He's So fine). If a "premise" could be copywritten every pop song "ever" is stolen from Robbie Burns. Get over it. Was it funny when you did it? That satisfies me.
"video of Louis CK admitting that Denis Leary's partner (Chris Phillips) came up with the A$$hole song" I can't find this, can you link? All I can find is Denis Leary saying it, and it sounds like bullshit. Can't find Louie saying it anywhere

Especially with the overwhelming evidence that's out there even with her doing Ellen Degeneres' own joke right to her face on her show. 🙄
It’s because she has helped bring up and has brought up really good comedians that Joe is now friends with…. She made a great move by ingratiating herself with young good comics like mark Normand and Sam Morril etc it makes Joe not want to burn a bridge
I love the parallel thinking of Bill Burr Greg Giraldo two of my top three with the other being Patrice O'Neal. What drives me nuts is how hard Jim Norton and Joe Rogan will be on Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia but both say the evidence isn't there for the blonde elephant in the room.
Brett Chambers There’s no way he believes what he’s saying. At the time, Dane was making him TONS of money. His only goal to say what helped his club. Burr really held back bc he was friends with Dane since the early days (and never really seems to openly bash other comics), and Jimmy is a worm that always gives the answer that serves him. If Dane was a comic from another country that doesn’t effect Jimmys career whatsoever, GUARANTEE Jimmy would bash him. Everyone knows Dane is a thief. Best story of Dane getting his just desserts, Chappell showed up at the Laugh Factory to do a set & Jamie says it’s Dane’s night. Don’t bump him. All Chappell said on stage was I’m going to be outside smoking if you want to talk I’m out there. Place emptied out. Fuck Dane & Jamie
God, Jamie is so punchable in this clip. I'd rather he just said "look, I'm not getting into it" and left it at that. He's not just defending Dane, he's like going to bat for joke theft as an institution. What a moneygrubbing tool.
Yeah this dude and his execution of this is insufferable. I thought the same thing. He didn’t have to disagree with Rogan, he easily could have just not commented on it.
tokokuken agreed man. It’s one thing to be a good businessman and say “it’s not my place to say who stole what or when” and just play it safe and on the fence. I wouldn’t hold it against the guy, that’s just good business. But to claim a comic is above stealing material just because you’ve known them 12 years doesn’t mean shit. The reason he wouldn’t call out Dane is because when Dane plays his club he probably sells the place out, its probably a relatively young crowd so they’re buying drinks, they’re engaging with the comedian and Jaime is happy making money. When money is your motivation to not call someone out for content or material theft that’s a piss poor excuse. I honestly wouldn’t have cared if he had just said “im not getting involved”, but you’re totally right that his rabid defense of Dane borders on a man crush this dude has for Dane.
I like how Cook made them blank out his jokes so there's no proof. But! When I was young, I heard those jokes. They're exactly the same thing, just some added stuff. Like Cook added that the guy who got hot by a car in the first joke, flipped, landed on his feet, his nose was bleeding. Other than that it's the exact same joke.
Weirdly even though his stand up is as libertarian as it gets, sometimes even straight up right of center Burr has always been a fence rider in real life. & I don’t blame him or anyone else for being like that especially pre-2012. In those pre-podcast/internet days there were 2-3 late night shows where they give you 15 mins maybe, O&A & Stern that was the only way you made it big in comedy. if you make one slip up & happen to piss off just one producer or exec you were done, there was no explaining yourself on your own podcast or Twitter in early 2000’s. The rest of their money was made in clubs which means working with many different comedians constantly so saying something profound like Rogan had all cons & no pros before the internet. But Burr even just last year laughed at & kind of blatantly belittled Joe on his own podcast for saying he doesn’t wear a mask outside while around no one, & even though this is in 2020 at the beginning Burr said out loud that he turns on the TV every morning to see if the CDC tells him to wear a mask today or not wear a mask. & then went on to say anyone who doesn’t abide by what Dr Fauci says is an idiot & can’t think for theirselves anyway. So Bull Burr is one of the funniest ever & if you were to talk 1 on 1 is probably conservative, but he’s always towed the line lol he never had the balls to speak without a filter except on stage where he can say it’s a joke
@@rtc3564 again I think guys like Burr & Ari come off as criticizing capitalism bc they’re normal people & realize something is terribly wrong in the world, but haven’t necessarily read enough Club of Rome or WEF documentation like you & I have to realize free market capitalism isn’t the problem but a small group of extremely rich bankers that have set up a system over the last 2-3 centuries that resembles capitalism at the base level when really they are the ones that decide who is who. When they criticize “capitalism,” what they really mean is oligarchy as that is what we have today. & it’s probably true that an inherent flaw of free market capitalism is the high possibility of turning into an oligarchy bc there are always the greedy, but that’s why we have a responsibility as citizens to check & balance that which we have not been doing since at least 1913 with the signing of the federal reserve act
@@rynemorse9014 I’d say the biggest problem is pushing for profits at the expense of the people and that’s done at every level. I think burr is just more aware of how much people struggle in the supposed meritocracy. He seems like he’d be more aligned with social democrats than anyone else, in regard to economics at least.
I wish I could go back to the 21 year old me that turned down (ran away) a MC spot at the funny bone. Comedians are some of the bravest people ever. You have to be so vulnerable to get up with new ideas in front of a room full of people expecting you to make them laugh. I hated when people said, "say something funny"!
Dummy, Dane cook forced them to take out his audio, how does that diminish the point of the video? It actually drives the whole point of this video forward. Why would Dane threaten with copyright claims over use of his stolen material if it wasnt stolen? Wouldnt Dane want you to listen to his joke and then the alleged joke he stole side by side so you could note the differences?? The only reason he would have an issue with that is if there aren't any differences. Dane IS a slimy joke theif. And If you disagree you are just as much a tool as this crooked asshole club owner.
Take it easy Francis. We understand why Dane's bits have been removed. Maybe butterscotch didn't. Dude thought video would be better if we could have heard. I agree. You are obviously a very smart dude though
Personally, I just wish they would take out the n word references and keep both bits in. I felt extremely uncomfortable when I heard that, especially given the current times we are in. It would have been nice to hear both jokes so we the people can make the determination and it throws out the possible jealousy interpretation that some people might take instead of what the actual point was.
Couldn't agree more. It really takes away from everything he's tried to do. Schumer did Ellen's popcorn joke on Ellen's own show. It just comes off as politics
Jackson Hermelee she stole from Mad Tv, Patrice o’neal, john mulaney, kathleen madigan, tamny pescatelli, marc maron and the list goes on and on. And after watching the comparisons its literally impossible for it to be “parallel thinking”. Her stealing is more egregious than carlos even so I don’t know why Rogen is on his high horse. Don’t know if he fucked her or maybe he just hates carlos. Who knows. But he has ZERO credibility to me in regard to joke stealing call outs.
Exactly, and of course "after the success the came up with all the accusations" since MORE people had now seen the stolen material, it's all such basic patterns and clear evidence all over the place.
If Cook's 'Itchy Asshole' had been the sole example pointing to plagiarism, this discussion wouldn't have occurred. Instead, it's reasonable to assume that Itchy Asshole _is_ plagiarized, solely because of the other bits.
Louis CK seems to have borrowed his kid named "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF" from Steve Martin. Exact same premise. "Give that kid a special test, get him outta here."
I love how they were gonna let this guy get his plug and leave, and then he got offended about a shitty joke, so they decide to double down and roast him hard
Thats mainly cause Bill and Dane were roomates and friends for a long time before Dane made it and since Bill is an old school dude he would never talk shit about someone that is a friend even if they are not friends anymore.
In the first joke it seems like Dane heard Louis’s joke & expanded on it. He stole the premise & the “wanting to warn them but not being able to get it out in time” part. Hearing that Dane was known for stealing for years & then learning about his brother stealing millions from him kinda seems like karma to me.

It's funny that UA-cam removed the Dane Cook excerpts, probably due to copyright infringement issues, while the whole point of the video was that his material was not original.
The fact that Dane didn't give consent to let us hear his bit means he's guilty.

Maybe that's why he got soft by the time Schumer got the spotlight. Maybe he was tired of fighting on his own.

That is today's political climate, Did you ever think we'd have to argue about reality being real?
I see where you're coming from, but here's why you're not reaching the right conclusion:
If we, as a collective, agreed on believing anyone who claimed to have first hand knowledge of any wrongdoing, we would eradicate the presumption of innocence, which would result in massive amounts of innocent people being punished for wrongs they did not commit, if you think too many innocent people are getting fucked over today, imagine what it would be like if you didn't have the right to defend yourself against an accusation.
(Not defending Dane Cook, mind you, he IS guilty of stealing from other comedians, but not everyone who is accused of wrongdoing is Dane Cook)

Interesting to hear the supposedly fearless bill burr and Ari shaffir go completely silent during this
Right? Burr especially.
He’s not a fan of political correctness but if you’ve heard him speak on politics lately he’s pretty critical of capitalism

The point in this video is lost when you can’t hear both bits
Dummy, Dane cook forced them to take out his audio, how does that diminish the point of the video? It actually drives the whole point of this video forward. Why would Dane threaten with copyright claims over use of his stolen material if it wasnt stolen? Wouldnt Dane want you to listen to his joke and then the alleged joke he stole side by side so you could note the differences?? The only reason he would have an issue with that is if there aren't any differences. Dane IS a slimy joke theif. And If you disagree you are just as much a tool as this crooked asshole club owner.
