Nice..is there a benefit to having two RTX 4090’s when it comes to viewport rendering ? And how did you reimport the bear and cave man animation? Was that an alembic import? Great work & congrats on top 5.
@@DarrinNoNAME Thank you! Yes, definitely! The viewport and renders are a lot faster. Only downside is that Blender can't use both cards for the GPU memory, so it's limited to 24GB. Don't get me wrong, that is still plenty, but would be nicer if it could use all 48GB. And for the bear and the character, I worked in different projects to get faster viewport playback and then appended it into the main project.
@@Crnovision weird question, but would it make sense to get two 3090's/3090ti's instead of 4090's since the 30 series cards (higher end ones atleast) can use NVlink and therefore use 48 gigs of Vram? obviously, the 4090's would be faster, but it's just a question i've always had in my had for Vram limited scenarios
@@ChickenSpananza Can't really answer that one, I'm not THAT technical. Look at some benchmark tests online and compare, then figure out what's the best for your budget! :)
@@Crnovision thanks for replying, BUT I HAVE no plans of buying a 3090/4090/5090 anytime soon...ill stick with my 3060 for a while longer...I just have weird poop thoughts is all 🙃
think of all the effort and work that went into this 5 second beautiful scene now do it 3600 times for a 1 hour movie. "20 days to finish" that would be 7200 days, i dont want to tell you how long that is in years.
As a beginner in Blender it's really impressive to see how many "basic" and accessable tools you used to achieve such incredible effects and looks! I would have never thought of just... using an image for the sky and mountains in the background. So easy and cheap but effective!
I've seen couple of blender animation like this ....every scene is good but it feels like a cartoonist or digital....this is the only one which felt like a pure movie scene .... excellent work man ❤
It looks amazing, no doubt, 10/10. Just a suggestion from a storytelling perspective: maybe after hitting the bear, it could still follow you-because it's not immediately dead, just injured and still running like a normal bear would. Then, after it jumps from the cliff, it gets even more injured. Right when the character gets out of the water near the shore, the bear falls. That way, it’s just one bear, and the story feels a bit more complete. What do you think?
Absolutely amazing work! The only minor thing that slightly hampers my immersion is the fact that the character starts out looking to the right when he lands. If he had instead looked first at the bear his continued frantic running would have felt more motivated.
Absolutely amazing work, your attention to detail is so spot on. Taking time to keyframe the fur matting together in the water is one of the many things that makes this stand out so well. Congrats!
"Seriously" awesome, it's crazy the amount of work and time that actually goes into just small segments of graphics rendering, animations, etc. Keep up the good work and stay awesome 😁😸
Such impressive work! the future of the industry really is moving towards one of generalist. The tools get better, and we as individual artist can tackle and learn so much more.
Amazing work! I love how wherever possible you find a just as good but faster method of doing it. Like the photoshop background split onto multiple layers for the far away elements. Or the river/waterfall. Taking notes.
Incredible work man! One of the most beautiful renders I have ever seen. I thought to myself during the live stream, that I would like to see how you did everything. So cool I came across this video. I would find it very interesting if you did a longer, more detailed tutorial about your techniques, I think we can all learn a lot from you.
Thank you everyone for the huge support!!

So much details, incredible work. It's ~5 sec animation but looks like a whole movie
When do you animate it pregnant
Really glad to see yours in the top 5, it was so amazing. Terrific work!

Cool comprehensive breakdown ! And I like that you did so much in Blender instead of switching between hundreds of tools.
Blender is amazing!
Congrats for being on the Top 3!
The attention to detail and effort you put into this work is incredible! It’s like you’ve created a Hollywood movie!
Well deserved placement with this one!! I love the storytelling that went into this
Thank you!!
one of the best submissions of the contest. Great concept, even great execution. Congrats.
I hope to achieve all these skills in blender someday
This was definetly the no.1 render for me
This was my favourite submission - it seriously took everything to level that was on its own. Congratulations on a beautiful piece.
Great work. One of the best works I've ever seen in the entire challenge.
Congratulations for top 5, it's an amazing work Pls consider making some texturing tutorials
This was definitely my favorite! It looks so good that I can easily overlook the fact that you’d never fall that gracefully from that height :D

This is just incredible, one of my favorite renders! The quality is insane, straight from some high budget Hollywood show.
This was one of the best renders I've seen in the contest! The amount of work here is just awesome!
VFX is really underrated. So much work into just a few sec shot. Good work dude!
This is a truly amazing workflow. I found what you did with the water simulation very clever. You very well deserved third place. Congratulations!
i would pay to watch a movie that looked like this. amazing what only one person can do
Absolutely amazing work! The only minor thing that slightly hampers my immersion is the fact that the character starts out looking to the right when he lands. If he had instead looked first at the bear his continued frantic running would have felt more motivated.
This blew me away as soon as it appeared on the Top 100. Amazing work. Perfectly balanced.
This scene was the one that I've watched multiple times. Well done and congrats.
This increases the respect for 3d artists. excellent job with the animation and composition.

This was my favorite from the challenge. Great work man
Crazy how this animation resembles a sequence from the game INSIDE, instead of the bear there was a dog. AMAZING WORK!

Thank you! I'd say that's the art of CGI. Sometimes you have to find the fastest and the simplest way to do something while keeping the quality
If you want to research into this topic look for digital matte painting or short DMP. Thats what it is called in every big production
Amazing bro, this channel is gonna blow up soon !
Great stuff. Perhaps adding the tiniest bit of camera shake particularly as he runs from the second bear could give the scene some urgency
Oh man! I wonder how you got this good. Learning Blender feels so daunting, especially with the nodes & stuff.
