I love how everything was broken down in the scene and presented so beautifully.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed :)
My dream is to be an animator so I can make many cinematic, I remebember in 2004 when I first used Blender..
i think also this just shows how good the people are - in this case - Lewis Animation! Understood Matte Painting through this so much better!
The title of this video should be "a masterclass inside 4 minutes" 🤩🤩🤩.The animation , the thought process , the little tips and tricks are just phenomenal.
Thank you so much! Really glad it helps :)
@@XXX0XXX-ue2fd ????
That also was a 140 million dollar film, and a 3d background really isn't needed at all for this scene @@XXX0XXX-ue2fd

I KID YOU NOT ! This takes days not hours. For those who think its a 4 minute quick video thus the work was quick.
Really appreciate the work by Lewis. I want to touch his feet out of respect.
The hard work, dedication, self discipline and perseverance needed is top class.
Thank you very much I really appreciate it! This is certainly a quick overview of a process that took a long time :)
@@lewisanimation About how long did it take to create this?
I got a minute into the the top 100 compilation and had to pause to find the original. Congrats this animation was sick! Fantastic breakdown too
Wow thank you so much! :) I really appreciate the comment, glad you like it!
I DID THE SAME.. Love this.
Hey we have the same profile picture!
@@HuanLeVuong lmao
I have a dream of doing such cool things but don't know what to do after deleting the cube 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
😂😂😂😂 I feel this in every single software
We share the same dream and have the same problem😂😂😂
You can delete the cube 😮. I can't even do that 😅
The fact that you didn’t force us to watch a 30 min video
man animated more for this video than the original one 💀 legend
:D
Gunna put this out there from one VFX artist to another. I think your work surpasses that of corridor digital, not sure why most people put them on this incredibly high pedestal. You should be incredibly proud of your work, looking forward to seeing more
Thank you so much! That's quite the compliment :) I think the pressure for Corridor to put out such regular videos can bring down the quality from what their maximum abilities are, they are all incredibly talented artists and I have always wondered what their peak combined efforts on a single project would look like as I'm sure it'd be unbelievable. I appreciate your comment and there's plenty more content on the way :D
Well done Lewis! You deserved all of that praise and you should be proud. Great animation, great breakdown.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it :)
I'm just so impressed by your skills ! And the patience you need to process in order to get this short animation ! Congrats !
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
The detail with the bear actually using the spikes on its helmet to attack is what really got me.
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Basically He worked for anywhere from 4 weeks to 4 months to give us this 16 or odd second long clip and it is glorious! Bravo
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed
Absolute stunning! One of my favorite pieces of the challenge
Thank you! :)
I enjoyed a narrated breakdown. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Big respect to these animators who put in so much work for basically 3 seconds of animation
It's a lot of work but seeing the final result makes it worth it! :)
This is beautiful, the quality, the animation, the style, and all the other little tricks to create the scene. Amazing job Lewis, this is inspiring!
Thank you so much I really appreciate it :)
Oh that's looking awesome! Thank you for the breakdown, really intersting stuff!
Thank you so much! :)
Good job man! I am envious of your skills. This is by far my favorite render from Endless Engines. it's so majestic and inspiring.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
Really cool animation, great painting skills as well.
Thank you very much!
I'm just started blender, and watch this video at that day... OMG how can this video possible?
Thank you! Has just been lots of learning from UA-cam tutorials :) Good luck on your Blender journey!
best breakdown ever, this just shows amount of work to perfect something and the amazing management of work you did there was amazing. so much i learned!
Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate the comment :)
@@lewisanimation love your stuff man, fact that you took the time to spread the knowledge is awesome.
Great work sir! I had to rewatch it multiple times. I absolutely looove the work you've done on the bear and if this was your first animating a qudruped then congrats! Everything blends together so well, keep it up!
Thank you so much! It means a lot coming from such a talented animator your work looks amazing! The whole project started by animating a super blocky bear as a proof of concept as I hadn't done creature animation before and it worked! So it was super exciting to build everything on top from there :)
@@lewisanimation nice. Thank you!
I love how you just meshed everything together so well. Very Talented!
That was incredible and very inspiring! Great work!
Beautiful! Great and inspiring work! Thank you for the breakdown!
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it :)
it's amazing how much work is behind this few second scene.
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Just WOW! The final scene looks crazy cinematic! One of the coolest shots I've seen coming out of blender.
Thank you so much! That really means a lot :) Just wanted to say I love your channel I've been subscribed for a while and your VFX videos are such high quality! Is very cool to get a comment from you!
Incredible work, definitely one of my favorites from the challenge. Thanks for sharing with us how you've created this
Thank you very much! Really glad you like it :)
Looks amazing! Reminds me a lot of the Elder Scrolls Online art style, I love it! Great job!
Thank you so much! :)
was expecting to hear, "and then my GPU imploded and created a black hole that engulfed the village". Dope work! I'm going to utilise that eevee cloud method, and the particle emitter parented to the camera. Very nice
We certainly only narrowly avoided that scenario with this render XD And glad you found some useable stuff! :)
I'm a severe procrastinator and I've been making an animated show and I just realized that this is what I'm going to have to do EXACTLY bit by bit in order to get it to look like the same thing as it is in my head 😵💫
Thanks Mr. Lewis new ideas always develop new paradyms
This is genius. I AM SO SAVING THIS VIDEO IN MY PLAYLIST TO STUDY ABOUT. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS BEAUITIFUL MASTER PIECE WITH BEHIND THE SCENES AND BREAK DOWN.
-It has inpsired many people to make the same art as you, which means you are an influencer.
-It has made me want to be like you which means congratulations. you have made a clone lmao
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :) Definitely the first time I've been called an influencer, but am just very happy to be inspiring people :D Thank you so much for your comment!
I would love a step by step tutorial on this even tho it will probably be like hours and hours. Amazing work 🎉
Thank you! I'll hopefully be looking to make some more in depth tutorials for similar scenes later on :)
Huge, massive smiles watching this!!! Well-earned and deserved!
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed :)
This is so impressive. Your understanding of the entire workflow really shows!
Thank you so much! :)
Absolutely loved the breakdown into this... very insightful how you approached it! It's a shame you haven't turned a shot like this into a full Patreon course, because that would be so cool and helpful :)
Thank you! It's something I'll be looking into in the future it just takes a lot of time to create tutorials/courses :)
The weight of that massive bear is so hard to convey and you have done it so beautifully, great work!!
Thank you very much! It was the first thing I did in the project and I was super happy with it :)
Well done! And I agree. There's nothing more satisfying to receive than accolades from your peers.
Fantastic! Thank you for sharing!
Very detailed explanation. The animation is top notch
Thank you so much! :)
@@lewisanimation you're welcome, that's me btw, my other account, i learned some cool things from your breakdown. Thanks a lot, this make me want to participate in the next challenge, I'm a lover of cool fantasy environments ,hope to get to your level someday
@@3dbait Awesome! Definitely give it a go it's a great way to make sure you complete a project from start to finish and it helps you identify the things in your workflow that need improving! This is my 4th entry to the competitions, and each time I just improved what I was missing in the last and eventually I made it to the montage! Your environments on your channel look amazing btw! You've got a great sense of camera movement and lighting too!
@@lewisanimation Thanks for the compliment, well, I'm still struggling with large scale environments so far, can't seem to make the background look good and epic like you did in this project, your trick about using 2d image and photoshop as a background will surely help me in my coming Project. And the cinematic lighting trick with the area lights too, can't wait to try it. Nice work once again !
Lewis, mate, you've got to get a job recording audiobooks, such a great, calming voice.
great work, too.
I appreciate the compliment thank you XD :)
Well deserved. This piece of art is massive. I am a small filmmaker and my focus is films, so unfortunately I haven't had the time to dive deep into blender. I am pretty good at blender I would say but not as advanced as you. I hope to see more beautiful renders from you
Thank you so much! Blender has become super powerful in recent years and nothing compares to the amount of online support there is so I'd 100% recommend it as something to keep going at. Thank you for your comment, there's plenty more animations on the way! And best of luck with your filmmaking! :)
The way the rider braced for impact with the second soldier was impressive.
Thank you :) Glad you liked it!
This is such a great masterpiece! I love the style, definetly reminds me of Elden Ring, good stuff Lewis!!
Thank you! Glad you like it :)
Lewis, this is INSANE!!! How long did it take you to do it?
I literally sat down today and started learning Blender. I'm a retired film maker and have all day to fool around. Thanks for the inspiration. Incredible talent. Cheers.
Really glad you enjoyed! Good luck on your new Blender journey, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made and I hope it is for you too! :)
This was my favorite from the video, had to find it
Amazing! Really glad you enjoyed :)
That’s epic as hell
Thank you glad you like it! :)
The way the bear moves is great.
Thank you! Glad you like it :)
the video is short and concise, and get the point across in a quick, yet amazingly detailed manner. The art work itself is stunning.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
love Love LOVED this breakdown so much, very nice work man!
Thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed :)
Sounds can be better.
This comment is actually insane
Is that seriously the only thing you had to say about this video?? 😂
Incredible work! The only thing missing from this is sound design.
Thank you! And yes sound design could use a lot more work :)
@@lewisanimation Honestly though still is amazing and i have NO doubt you can do anything you set out to do!
@@imclueless9875 I really appreciate it! :D
@@lewisanimation thank you for showing us how you created this masterpiece! And the nice chat :) Look forward to seeing more!
Stellar presentation. Loved every millisecond of this! Excellent creativity and workflow.
Thank you ever so much! I really appreciate it :)
Man...! I was really inspired when I saw your montage. clearly one of the most unique concepts. Also glad to know how it's done. Good Work. Keep it coming.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the comment :)
Really nice breakdown! :) Keep up with your good work and congrats for Top100!
Thank you! :)
Absolutely fantastic, please keep making such detailed breakdowns in the future, i learned a lot from this!
Thank you! Plenty more breakdowns on the way! Hopefully just the youtube video kind :)
Absolutely amazing work there!
Thank you so much! :)
To think that this is not a complete 3D scene, it's amazing. Wow! Great work!
Thank you so much! :)
This was a great entry! Thanks for the breakdown! The addition of narration really helped :) As someone new to blender I think I appreciated this breakdown the most from what I've seen so far. It makes these projects seem a lot less daunting and something I could hopefully achieve in the future. Thanks again and fantastic work!
I'm really glad it helps! Sometimes the most difficult thing is knowing what part of 3D you need to learn. When learning Blender, one time I spent ages learning how to make complex smoke simulations to add smoke in a background as that's how I assumed it was done, without knowing you can do it so quickly and easily with just image planes! Sometimes just being pointed in the right direction in the first place is the biggest problem to solve, so that's definitely the aim of breakdowns like this is to push people into the right direction to know what tutorials to look for in the first place! Then just with time and practise you'll get there :) I look forward to maybe seeing some of your work!
Fantastic visuals and so succinctly explained! This must have taken a LOT of man hours to achieve.
It did take many hours to create :) Glad you enjoyed!
I like how so much of it was made using rather simple methods
Thanks for sharing your workflow! Very insightful and impressive!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed :)
Great work and congratulations! It's a true honor to be recognized by your heroes! You might want to think about creating a course. You have a natural talent for it and it may prove to be financially worth your time. Congrats again, and thank you for the engaging explanation of your work. Quite impressive explanation skills and animations.
Thank you very much! Creating courses is definitely something I'm considering for the future, there's a lot involved so I'm just trying to find the time and best content to use. Thank you for your suggestion and compliments :)
Great work! Keep those tutorials coming!
Thank you! :)
Wow that requires some serious talent and a ton of experience, that is phenomenal
Thank you so much! :)
as a landscape photographer with zero aversion to photoshop, I’ve always wanted to utilize matte painting and meld my 3D work with my own assets. This is a great inspiration on those grounds alone, but i’m in awe of everything else. beautifully done.
Thank you ever so much! It has definitely been a game changer for me since realising I didn't need to make everything 3D in the scene :)
love this breakdowns broo you kill it!!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed :)
This is very well and beautifully done. Cheers mate!
I wish I could spend time creating beautiful things like you :)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
No words for this phenomenal clip.
Thank you!
Amazingly done!
Thanks for sharing your workflow! It's beautiful!
No problem! Thanks for watching :)
Just excellent, thanks for the breakdown!
You're very welcome :)
wow what an animation, And here I'm strugling with cube😂😂
Thank you so much! Don't worry I also was once struggling with a cube but got there eventually :)
cool tricks but bro, the lightning on the city is majestic!!!
Thank you so much! :)
Next step for Lewis : Start a VFX company
Is definitely a possibility :)
Really nice work, and fantastic breakdown. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed :)
Such a great job
Congratulations. And thank you.
Thank you!
Great work and great breakdown. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
Hmmmmmm.....did anyone else get turned on? The details and the voice. woah. Looking forward to your next challenge render.
Amazing work, bro! I'm sure I'll be watching repeatedly for reference and inspiration!
Thank you so much! You'll always be welcome here on the channel! :D
@@lewisanimation Thanks!
men this is incredible
Great work, love that light, and atmosphere, also great optimisation of the scene, for blender eevee it looks really good
Thank you so much! :) The main 3D scene was rendered in cycles and it was the 2D elements that could be rendered in eevee then composited together
@@lewisanimationOh still it’s great, I know how quickly scene can become sluggish in blender, so workflow of making bg as matte painting and give fg more room for hardware is really nice, definitely will do that in my projects, instead of baking on low poly meshes
Wow! You left me speechless with this work!
Thank you! Really glad you like it :)
This took me back to The Golden Compass! Exceptionally made shot, definitely one of my favorites, congrats!
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed :)
This is insanly good, keep up the great work , you are very talentend ! even this breakdown is a piece of art.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it :)
WOW, Absolutely amazing!
Thank you so much! :)
This is a masterclass. Amazing breakdown.
Thank you so much! :)
great job. This breakdown is almost as good as the shot itself!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it :)
this is amazing !! love the breakdown
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it :)
subbed because of the detailed information on your process :) was such an awesome clip!
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel :)
Congrats dude, this was awesome. Well done.
Thank you so much! :)
Really impressive result. I think the color grading really gives it that hollywood flavour, and your lighting skills are top tier.
Also on a personal note, I'm amazed at how many of these techniques I already use on a day to day basis, makes me feel I'm doing things right lol. The smoke cards are a classic and they never fail!
Thank you so much I really appreciate the comment :) Exactly so much is just using small tricks that speed up your workflow and that don't make the scene too heavy, and that gives so much more time to spend on adding extra detail
Dammn, this is so sick! Thanks for the breakdown & congrats with your placement!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
The skill here that should be commended is the use of 2D in a 3D space so as to not tax your rendering engine. Movie quality!
Thank you so much! It definitely saved a lot of time and headaches :)
so good!! and the breakdown is very useful to see
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed :)
@@lewisanimation of course!
This is crazy good... I'm just starting to learn how to use Blender (todays my first day) and seeing what you can create with it is phenomenal! Keep up the good work! Just subscribed.
