    I recently went on a 2700 mile trip in my 2022 Silverado and averaged 24.1 MPG. This was mixed driving across the Smokey’s and Appellation mountains. On the way back I averaged 25.2. I have the previous generation 2.7 in my Silverado crew cab 4x4. EPA rated the truck at 18-21 mpg. I’ve never got below 18. Also I calculated fuel economy the same way as TFL. I would think this new gm 4 cyl turbo with just a few tweaks would be more efficient and easily get 25+mpg. But if my full size truck with a 6.2/8 spd trans gets 25mpg weighing 5500lbs than surely a newer canyon weighing 4500lbs with the same engine and trans should pick up 1-2 mpg. • @dennisl6198
      @dennisl6198 Рік тому +2

      absolutely. Cruise control kills MPG. much better to go with the ebbs and flows of elevation in hilly places like Colorado. Also, CC is usually pretty aggressive, it will immediately downshift with you fall a few MPH on a hill, where a smart human would just lightly roll on the gas in that situation. I have to give adaptive cruise systems like Tesla's autopilot kudos for being much calmer about this sort of thing, i.e. when the slow car in front of you moves out of the way, the tesla slowly and smoothly applies power instead of just ripping back up to your set speed.

    • @shitloveaduck
      @shitloveaduck Рік тому +1

      If you maintain the speed going up the hill you use more fuel as well!! 😂😂😂. If you don’t, you are a giant pain in the arse slowing down and impeding traffic. It’s not illegal, just annoying.

      @fritty9927 Рік тому +1

      Computer has no chance of beating your mpg with own foot. It never takes advantage hills and traffic. It will floor it to gain 5 mph. I use the momentum to propel me. Computers can’t even begin to match.

    Once, and only once my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 got 25 mpg ! This was heading eastbound on I 80 in Nebraska. The wind was minimal and the road tilted slightly down hill. To do it the speed had to be kept down to 55 mph to make the 5.3 L churn along. At 65 mph it can get 17.9 mpg. In town it gets about 12.5 mpg. Now the truck has 246,000 and I still am using it. So it would be good if they could.....thanks for doing this. but i do have to throw down a gauntlet of sorts. I recently bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee HEMI with the cylinder deactivation. I drove Golden to Colorado springs (going over monument hill twice at 7343 feet) and back at normal highway speeds (i.e. 75ish, MPH, but trying to save gas, and got 25MPG average running mild AT tires. This was confirmed with a fill-up within about 2%. This is a 2.5 ton full time AWD vehicle. I think there are two factors-- the cylinder deactivation of 'ECO' mode, the halfway decent aero in the front, and the 8 speed. There's no reason why anything new shouldn't be able to do this.....

    Definitely need the Denver Loop for the inevitable CO/Canyon/Ranger/Tacoma/Frontier/Gladiator shootout. Hell, make it a series with the Ike, Goldhill, and Immogene Pass or Red Cone. Really see what each one is capable of.

    I heard in our 2023 Chevy Colorado 2.7 Turbos that the fuel management cuts out cylinders #2 and #3 at higher speeds, that where you get the better fuel mileage at higher speeds.

    I can't wait until the same aftermarket parts for the 1500's with the 2.7 turbo become available for the Colorados and Canyons. That should help squeeze more MPG's out of them. Cold air intakes and tunes, particularly.

    My Canyon 2wd gets 22mpg combined hwy and city. With all that torque I don't have to floor the gas pedal to get average performance out of the truck. I stay at the speed limit and coast a little bit more when coming up on a red light or an exit from the freeway. I accelerate with out using alot of RPM'S and let the torque do its thing.

    Good to see the EPA must be driving like a maniac to get their ratings during their testing.
    From what I can tell this would be similar results to the outgoing V6 from my experience. Sometimes you can get 24+ in the gen 2s but you really need to be going between 55-70 mph.
    If there is elevation change, weather, and traffic you're looking at more of a 20-22 mpg on the highway with the stock Wranglers that come on the Z71.
    I feel like the ZR2 model getting 16 mpg is especially misleading. I wouldn't be surprised if that gets somewhere around 19-20 mpg around this loop.

    Do you have cruise control....LOL.
    Next year it could be standard as is now in the base model of Maverick.... though that Maverick is $2700 more than when it came out last year.
    I now have a Maverick EcoBoost, awd, 4ktow, fx4 off road (the tow pkg gets a different final drive).
    I'm getting about 25 mpg, yet mileage improves as much as 3 mpg IF I go 65 in the 65 zones, rather than 72 mph or more as most do around here. Unfortunately, it seems quite dangerous driving the speed limit.

    I’d buy one if they would offer a 6’ bed. They look front heavy to me. I’ve always liked the look of a slightly longer bed… to me the Tacoma with the 6’ bed or the chevy 2500 with the standard bed, I think it’s about 6’8”’.

    I have a '21 Nissan Titan Pro-4x and get 18-21 on the highway and 19-22 on 55mph secondaries with few stops. City, I get 15-16. That's with a 5.6L V8 and AT tires. This is in upstate NY where it isn't flat anywhere.
    This is one of the reasons I got a full size truck instead of a midsize. The midsize don't get any better gas mileage and I get all the extras of a full size.
