I'm a sous chef and my favorite things about the kitchen are the stove and the HUGE amount of counter space; it also looks like you've put in a pot filler above the burners, so that gets thumbs up from me too. The layout actually reminds me of commercial kitchens, so while I'm not used to seeing this in a home, it makes sense to me as a chef. Great job guys, as always!
Thank you for answering my one question about the kitchen design - the tap (which I thought was a water filter) by the hobs- it makes perfect sense now!
The sink on the opposite of the cooktop seems like it would be difficult. I'm always washing my hands or something and would have to keep going around the counter top to do it. But maybe I'm just used to other layouts I've had and not this one! I LOVE the floors, pantry and storage units. The whole space seems very spacious!
@@Ellaodi sort of but not really. In a Victorian kitchen, typically the cooking stove and sink would both be on an outside wall, unlike here where both are on the island. You'd also see shelves for utensils and sometimes a cabinet on the walls. A Victorian kitchen would frequently utilize a large table that sat in the middle of the room and was used solely for assembly of items and never for the purpose of eating. Conversely, here we have one island that incorporates all functions into one, including preparation, storage, cooking, washing and dining.
I think masterpiece is an understatement! Wow! Those floors warm up the kitchen and the tiles refine it. The marble is stunning and that pantry invites creativity to begin. Just love it and appreciate the work and dedication you put in to this one space. Wow!
Half hot water, half Pinesol. Use a turkey battery and soak 3' square and let sit. Come back 30 minutes later and soak again. 30 minutes later come back with a putty knife and that glue will come up. Then move on to the next 3' square, repeat! This is the best way to get rid of that nasty old linoleum glue! Love you guys! Love that kitchen!
I just don’t know what I love more! Is it the tile, the floors, the antique cabinets, the pantry, the countertops? I guess I’m just going to say all of it within your genius design! Well done! ❤️😊
Wow wow wow 😍 You have both knocked this out of the park! I thought it was going to be impossible to top the apothecary bathroom at the judges house but I was wrong. That kitchen is just amazing. The design is epic, the way you have thought of everything, not just the physical layout but also the social experience is next level. It shows how deeply you care about what you do. I love it. 10/10 and 2 thumbs up from me. P.S Laine you rocked that tyvek suit. 😍👍🏻🤣
I was thinking the same! Wouldn't it be amazing to cut and paste our favorite features from their builds and make a single amazing home? I wouldn't even care what anyone else thought!
Wow. Hard to pick one favorite among all of that fabulousness. One small detail I noticed was the bead board in the pantry. The sides running horizontal, while the back runs vertical. No reason for that to catch one’s eye, but it does. Keeping the windows and doors where they belong shows that “This ain’t your Mamas HGTV flip.” Well done.
The message of this video: If "you" think you are beaten, you are! However, we don't think we are beaten! Now, get out of our way because we have a major transformation to do, and it will be done! 😂😂 Talk about a transformation! I am completely astounded by the outcome! That original kitchen looked like something you'd see on the 1980s sitcome "Mama's Family." Drum roll.....welcome to the transformed kitchen! It is completely breathtaking and extremely well done! Laine, that kitchen and pantry is fabulous, beautiful, meticulous, very functional, and well planned and put together! All of the applicances and furnishing are exquisite and well placed. All of the wall, floor, and related finishes complement each other so very well. The paint colors are very nice. Can I have this kitchen?
Wow!!!! Not only did you create an amazing kitchen, but you staged it beautifully too!!! My favorite thing is the general store cabinets! A standing ovation! 👏👏👏👏👏
Ummmmm whoa! Absolutely gorgeous! I think if Lane and Kev didn’t love these houses they worked on, it wouldn’t look so lovely! I absolutely love these guys for how much respect and perseverance they have! What a stunning kitchen! 🤩
That's beautiful! I'd extend the fridge across that wall, though, with my family eating so much fruit and veggies! Those tiles! Cabinets! Wall hooks! I can only hope a lot of people renovating old houses watch this, so that they won't RUIN their houses with modern kitchens.
I knew it! I knew my mind would be blown BUT…I never could have imagined this much perfection. Every inch of every space is beyond words. Laine, if the day should ever come that I would be blessed to have my own Pearl, you will be the designer and I will pay you a gagillion dollars, or somewhere thereabouts. Love you guys! 💚💜😍🎉🥳💋🎁💝💐
You guys have knocked it out of the park with this one!!! This kitchen is a Victorian Home lover's dream come true! It is truly stunning in every way and I love it ALL!!! You are both so talented and do absolutely incredible work. I am completely in awe......WOW!
You’re seriously a design genius. I cannot believe how amazing your designs are. Someone should seriously hire you guys. You deserve millions with that brain of yours.
I loved hearing the whole story of this kitchen. Yes it turned out amazingly beautiful (congrats!), but to actually learn the story (and see excerpts) of the work it took makes it resonate so much. I still can’t believe what y’all went through on the grout, and it’s amazing how you saw it through. Big 👏🏼.
Wow! I feel like that’s my response to every room you finish. But it truly leaves me awestruck. The new owners will be very lucky to have this kitchen! Way to go…once again 😄
The kitchen is AMAZING! The pantry is PERFECT! The cabinets look like they look like the have been there the entire time, though I would have reversed them. The herb drying rack truly finishes the pantry. The adorable antique nick knacks in the cubbies of the cabinets are precious. I hope the new homeowners appreciate all of the hard work and love that went into creating these spaces. Thank you for this lovely reveal of Pearl's kitchen! I can't wait until you return to finish Melly!
You did a phenomenal job with this kitchen. I love how you think outside the box to creatively come up with a design that is appropriate for the house. The new owner is so lucky.
I’ve been cheering you on & praying for you guys these past couple weeks. It looks beyond amazing, lovely, beautiful, fabulous & all the appropriate adjectives 😂! Such awesome work!❤❤❤
Lifelong older home resident/owner here. Having designed and redesigned kitchens with long windows and 5 to 6 doorways in them, I have to say you’ve done an incredibly hard job with a beautiful eye toward impeccable design! It is extremely challenging to put your bibs and bobs where no bibs and bobs were ever meant to be. Brava! Bravo!
I would love to know how many working hours you both spent on Pearl, how many planning hours went into it, and how much time you both had to spend on getting supplies. I hope it has been as fun for you all as it has been for me watching the process. Ty for taking me along. ❤️❤️ to you both and hope you have a nice vacation planned soon! ❤️❤️
I love how functional this “unconventional” kitchen is!! It’s an amazing use of space! And with all that white tile you can use more moody colored paint without dampening the mood! XD WELL DONE! Can’t wait to see the the rest of the house!
I adore those old linoleum rugs! Our old house has the original linoleum in the upstairs bathroom, the middle worn smooth and the pattern walked over so many times it has disappeared. We love that it hasn't been ripped up and thrown in a dumpster.
Absofreakinlutely a Masterpiece! ❤ those floors ❤. I love how the island contains all that is needed with the full sized fridge in the pantry. Well done Kevin and Laine! I am going to miss Pearl! 😊
I enjoy your videos so much. I know this is edited, but, you two are a joy to watch and seem to be soooo compatible. Pearl turned out to be beautiful. Kevin, I remember the first video I watched, you wouldn't comment to much. Not so much now, you and Laine compliment each other so well. Can't wait for the next project.
This is absolutely gorgeous, you two!! The colors, the cabinets, that pantry 🥰!! Such a lot of hard work, but it definitely paid off because it is perfect!
Wow. What a day. Listening to Laine giving the tour of Auburn, in person. I was actually there. My cousin Amber and I were staying at Glenfield Plantation B n B, in Natchez earlier this week. We bought tickets Tuesday and Wednesday, to tour six beautiful houses. After viewing Auburn and talking to Laine, my cousin and I drove over to Pearl. It was so exciting to meet Kevin, view the kitchen while work was in action. And leaving the property via the house next door driveway. What a wonderful experience. These two people, Kevin and Laine, are terrific, not afraid of dirt and lots of grit. Thanks so much.....e
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING NOTHING BUT PERFECTION THE CABINETS BRING THE WHOLE SPACE TOGETHER TO GIVE IT THE CREATIVE AND UNIQUE DESIGN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE FROM THE BEGINNING HOW CAN YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT SELLING IT I SURE COULD'NT
This kitchen is a work of art! The thought and work that went into this space is simply remarkable!! The tile work, floors, pantry, color choices and layout... Obsessed 😍
I love listening to Laine talk about this house, really all of the houses! She is so excited about this and so passionate and it shows in every reveal video. Got to love it so much! This kitchen is a dream kitchen. Well done you guys! Well done.
No words. Brain is blown! The most phenomenal kitchen restoration ever. My most favorite thing is impossible to choose. But that tile is forever imprinted into my brain and soul! What a true love story Kevin and Laine! Big love!!!! CONGRATULATIONS to you guys!🎉 The stuff dreams are made of (but lots of blood, sweat, and BRAINS also!) ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Inventive, intelligent, and beautiful... it cannot be easy to meld modernity and period build into a working, functioning space. Love it y'all! Ya did good! ❤❤❤
The kitchen design is incredible. I love the way it feels old. It's reminiscent of an old dairy table to me. So love that old world feel. especially the cabinets from PA (where I'm from) they give the right amount of apothecary meets hutch.
When I finally got to the final showing and walkthrough of it I was like screaming at my phone it is so beautiful! That orange red in the pantry is such a bright and beautiful color all of your hard work turned out so. so. beautifully. How original and fun.
I love the Studio green. I actually have a color close to this in my 1920 kitchen and it's paired with harlequin tile. So, this kitchen makes my little heart beat faster. It's absolutely gorgeous, combining new and innovative with period touches like the old canisters and herbs drying. Laine you outdid yourself with this design. Brava.
I absolutely love the kitchen ! Congratulations 😊 What a journey, I am always amazed, how you envision bringing the new, yet keeping true to the time period. Finding those two hutches for cabinets was ingenious. You two always not only restore, but your work reflects the (love) you have for restoring these remarkable homes. I am celebrating with you today ❤🎉
Beyond words!!!? I knew this kitchen was going go be THEE KITCHEN of kitchens. There is no other I would have doing my house restoration & design. This matches the bathroom you did. It was My favorite too 😔 Beautiful just beautiful ❤
The tile situation sounds like a nightmare! Huuuge congratulations on finishing this beautiful kitchen, yall did so Great as usual. Thank you for letting us live our restoration dreams through you!
Wow! I would love to cook in that kitchen. What a cool space to hangout in. The cabinetry is phenomenal and perfect for that space. The floors are perfection. Love the green trim with that white tile. The tile pattern is beautiful. The pantry is coffee/microwave nook and frig area is wonderful. The restored windows are so gorgeous! It is a one of a kind design that any owner would be proud to live within and show-off to friends. I know it was a Herculean effort, but it sure reflects your amazing craftsmanship. Congratulations guys!!! 👍🏻🌟⚜️🏆🥇❤️
Absolutely stunning. I love how you went against the grain and stayed true to one style and time period...rather than mixing traditional/historical/ with modern elements, as is usually done.
Ingenious work space design and great to have the room around it without a big block of a refrigerator in the way. Fridge is nice tucked into the pantry with the handy counter space in front of the microwave. The subway tiles and kitchen floor are gorgeous. Love the creamy tone and flow of the tiles. Well done!
Now This Can Be The Trend. Face into the kitchen and still look out the window doing the dishes. Stunning. I want to put big beautiful things on the top of those hutches.
Amazing!!!!!!!! My favorite thing are the shelves by the refrigerator, dry herbs and jars… then the the island!!!!! Wow! And the floor!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Gorgeous!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!!!!
Really really wonderful!! Your creative solution allows for exactly what you said...guests, friends, family can sit and visit with the cook and not be in the way. Such a challenge...I can't even imagine that space with the additional door. Oh, but that grout disaster?!!! I'd have gone ballistic. And even worse when you are on a deadline. I love the drying racks...in my second house I had an old carved wooden paper towel holder I didn't need, so I added hooks to the 'arms' and nails to the back piece, and put it up near the ceiling to hang herbs. I love that you don't just 'decorate', but make a practical, comprehensive plan, then integrate the design choices seamlessly. We still have our original 1931 cabinets with part of the 'cooler' intact, and three doorways, so our full size fridge is just through the opening into the laundry room. It's actually more convenient there. I loved the full story with close up footage, and the final reveal. Congratulations!! :)
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I LOVE every part of the kitchen, I love the contrast of the dark green and the burnt orange in the pantry. Its SO GOOD you guys! Well done xxx
I'm impressed! You have acres of counter space with that island, and those two big cabinets look like they grew there. So many kitchens have a honking big refrigerator that dominates the room, but yours is out of sight and just steps away, and you have the under-counter fridge for frequently used items. I wasn't sure about the dark green, but there's plenty of white (and the two "supermarket" lights) to keep the room bright. I've always liked subway tile!
I have no words. This ia phenomenal. So stunning , creative, functional and It feels historical. The colors combination... Omg! Every little detail. Congratulations!
I've always looked at a kitchen as most importantly being functional, not just triangular...this one works...love the pantry, swweeeet! Love those cabinets too! 😊💖
Omg!!! I love EVERYTHING in this kitchen!!! Id say the floors are definitely my favorite. And then the cabinet's but after that it's a tie. I was gasping with delight at everything. The hands down most gorgeous kitchen I've seen! Lucky new homeowners!!! Great job!!! 💖💜💖🎉
What a marvelous job you two did on the kitchen! It looks fantastic! All your hard work definitely paid off...your design rocks! And is totally in keeping for kitchens of that time period. My favorite features are the herb drying racks and how you painted the floor. Definitely a job extremely well done!
OMG! A few years back I designed an historic kitchen w/a "mega island" (in order to preserve some lovely windows) with the fridge in the pantry :D I don't know why it didn't occur to me to put a second undercounter fridge right there in the prep space :`( I wish I'd discovered this channel sooner!
Always had a soft spot for for that home. Reminds me of the one I restored year's ago. You did a good job and someone that wants turn key should never buy history. Perfection is retaining the character without endlessly taking it apart. I hope you can find a buyer that loves her and appreciates the efforts to bring her life back. I also hope you exceed the original appraisal after what you went through. We can't even buy 670 sq ft for less than $475k here. Former veterans homes are $675k. I'm sorry you had a rough experience. Looking back it's easy to see why❤
The center island idea .....pure genius!!! Giving you FULL ON view of the exterior and so much gorgeous exterior light coming in!!!! And the luscious antique PA cabinets!!!! Why don't kitchen cabinets come with the slide glass panels anymore? Make soooo much sense!!! Love the spot on perrrrrfect floor plan... And the pantry!!!!!! Love the sumptuous color with the authentic herb drying racks! I always liked having the refrigerator in the pantry...refrigerator drawers next to the cook top is also perrrrfect...im with you on the triangle design concept. Let's throw it out the window!!!!!! So appreciate all your sweat, thought, heart and soul in the giant project named PEARL!! love you both and thanku for who you are and the joy, education, and peace you deliver to the world! KEEP ON!!!❤
It's absolutely gorgeous!!!! So period appropriate.... and those floors!!! That pantry, gasp!!!! I love it! You couldn't have gotten two more perfect cabinet pieces!! Gorgeous Laine & Kevin!!!
It's impossible to pick only one thing! LOVE the herb rack and the pantry and the counters and the tile and the painted floors and and and . . . . just PHENOMINAL!!!
Bravo! I love how you save the old ( keep them old) with new a touch. Thank you so much for respecting their heritage. My heros! I built a butlers to change where my back is facing lol and free of wall cabinetry!
This is the most beautiful, elegant kitchen I have seen. Simplicity and quality exceed the sum of their parts here. The built-ins, the tile, the bead board, the colors and THAT floor. ❤❤❤
I absolutely LOVE everything about it!! I think it has a French vibe, with the colors and the amazing floor design.⚜️ Y'all have done a phenomenal job on Pearl!!!❤
The checkerboard floor design works fantastically in the space! Gorgeous cabinets. A practically perfect pantry (love the herb rack. Thinking of how many flour sack towels/linen aprons could dry on it.) So many elements to appreciate. Love the idea of facing company whilst cooking during entertaining. And an under counter fridge❤️. Applause, applause. 👏👏👏
OMG I love the kitchen. 😊 OH hope you do a smaller kitchen, because I have a small kitchen. I also like it because its so bright in the room. I love everything about it. 😊
I am not a cook but this kitchen inspires me to create a great meal! My favorite it the cabinets and I absolutely love that the fridge and microwave are tucked away. You guys are amazing and I’d love to live in this space!
You’d have to be crazy not to love this kitchen design!!! It looks movie-set ready. It’s gorgeous! 10/10
I guess I'm crazy then. I have never seen a less charming kitchen.
I'm a sous chef and my favorite things about the kitchen are the stove and the HUGE amount of counter space; it also looks like you've put in a pot filler above the burners, so that gets thumbs up from me too.
It's closer to the victorian setup! Which was an actual work kitchen!

The kitchen is pure genius. The floor is stunning. That house got lucky when you bought it.
I just don’t know what I love more! Is it the tile, the floors, the antique cabinets, the pantry, the countertops? I guess I’m just going to say all of it within your genius design! Well done! ❤️😊
Yes!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow wow wow 😍

The kitchen design is STUNNING! You guys really put your hearts into the design, and it shows! Great job! Love it!
The kitchen looks phenomenal! Your imagination took you so far out of the box, and the finished product was brilliant. Congratulations! ❤

You both did a stellar job!!!!!
She's a gem of a kitchen.
The refrigerator out of sight is a winner in my book.
Great job.
I adore those old linoleum rugs! Our old house has the original linoleum in the upstairs bathroom, the middle worn smooth and the pattern walked over so many times it has disappeared. We love that it hasn't been ripped up and thrown in a dumpster.

Congratulations guys!!! 👍🏻🌟⚜️🏆🥇❤️
It's all beautiful but my favorite is the marble top and THE FLOOR!!!!!
Absolutely stunning. I love how you went against the grain and stayed true to one style and time period...rather than mixing traditional/historical/ with modern elements, as is usually done.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS KITCHEN!! You hit it right out of the park! Chef's kiss perfection.
Stunning!!! Genius too! It really is a master piece! All of your blood, sweat, and tears, paid off and then some.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I LOVE every part of the kitchen, I love the contrast of the dark green and the burnt orange in the pantry. Its SO GOOD you guys! Well done xxx
This looks original to the house. Such a beautiful compliment to this well designed/restored home.
I love the old matching store cabinets! They are stunning!
I have no words. This ia phenomenal. So stunning , creative, functional and It feels historical. The colors combination... Omg! Every little detail. Congratulations!
Finally a kitchen that looks like it belongs!
I love the central island and those cabinets❤❤
So beautiful and uncommon design. I love it. Great work
Those cabinets were made for the space! So beautiful.
Had to watch it twice to take it all in properly. Phenomenal, of course.
My favorite is the floors and counter space. The whole kitchen is great!
Great colors and looks so natural for the house. Bravo. Favorite thing use of the two Pennsylvania cabinets.
KEEP ON!!!❤
I was expecting tile on that kitchen floor, I’m glad you went with stain. It’s my favorite part of the kitchen. ❤ it all!
It's absolutely gorgeous!!!! So period appropriate.... and those floors!!! That pantry, gasp!!!! I love it! You couldn't have gotten two more perfect cabinet pieces!! Gorgeous Laine & Kevin!!!
Damn I love that pantry! The floors! The giant work table! The stand alone cabinets! It fits the home perfectly. Amazing work.
So excited! 😁
You know this is so much like those European kitchens built around a Molteni range and cooking station. Brilliant.
I ❤love, ❤love, ❤love the old general store cabinets!!!
Soooo stunning!! Love the colors, the floors, everything!!!!!❤
