The McLeod Plantation is located on James island where I grew up. We lived in Secessionville Acres, site of Fort Lamar. Before the war & Battle of Secessionville the island was home to wealthy planters. There are 3 beautiful mansions; 1 Victorian & 2 antebellum Greek Revival homes. There were hundreds of blank headstones & artillery scattered in the woods we played in. Like McLeod I’m happy all of these are finally protected historical sites- it took long enough! . Thanks for your video!
Despite their tulmultuous histories, plantation homes are some of the most beautiful well-designed in America. Said by Leonardo da Vinci, simplicity truly is the ultimate sophistication!
beautiful place, the whole site is great. unfortunately, the day we visited the house had been booked for a wedding, so you could not go inside. quite a sight seeing all the guests arriving and the decor itself almost made up for it.
What type of trees are those? The ones with the mossy looking beards. I enjoyed this! I've never been to a plantation or seen one up close. Thanks Rey! You've got a new subscriber here😁
😂😂😂 tenant house 🤔. Let's history 101. I visited Boone Hall, and THEIR SLAVE QUARTERS STATED THAT. If you were a slave YOU COULDN'T BE A TENANT. You couldn't have a lease😂😂😂 what the what what...

Thank you! Spanish moss is most popular on oak trees.
@@reysotomusic interesting. Thanks😁
Oh I am pleased you asked the question. They are lovely, do they get green leaves ever, they sort of look like they are going through a stage.😊
@@tracyanne8616 They are Live Oaks, they drop their leaves in the spring and they stay green year round.
Oak trees with Spanish Moss growing on them. Classic southern stuff.

I haven’t been to Boone Hall, but the tour guides at McLeod are outstanding, professional, and full of knowledge.
Did they just call slave quarters tenant homes? That's so wrong.
Thanks for watching. The tour guides at McLeod do an amazing job of explaining a more complete history of the property.
