    girlll i blow out my hair every two weeks with cool / warm air and my hair went from bra strap to past waist length in just under a year. i have 3C/ 4A fine, medium density hair. for the first time i’ve been getting regular trims every 4 months. i leave my hair in a loose low bun or two braids w the ends tucked. i guess i would consider myself a blow dry natural. the best part is if i have a special event to go to , i’ll take some foam wrap and my flexi rods for some heatless curls. i get to see my length while also retaining length. hopefully by next year i’m at tailbone length which is my goal length. i’ve been watching you for a while now and i love this for you !
    edit: i have absolutely zero heat damage. my curls still spring up to above my shoulders every wash day! i only flatiron at 325 degrees for trims & my hair is so fine i can get away with it.

    I'm considering becoming a straight-haired natural, because I don't have the time to do my hair every single day anymore. Also, it NEVER turns out the same way twice, and I really don't appreciate that lol. I also agree with your point on versatility and spontaneity.

    I’m a straight hair natural but I will only do silk presses once in a while. Back in the day we didn’t do silk presses, we just got our hair pressed enough to be straight. I do believe if you silk it every time you straighten it will not fair well in the end. My goal is to straighten at no higher than 400 degrees 75% of the time and alternate between twist and presses and only silk press when I need a trim.

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  Рік тому +9

      Yes absolutely the best way to do it In my next video I talk about how I purchased GHD platinum+ the straightener only goes up to 365 degrees which is perfect if you’re straightening regularly in my opinion xxx

    This is facts. I became a straight haired natural for similar reasons. I think for some of us it’s just easier to wear our hair straight. I love my curls and for 7 years I was natural. I enjoyed my natural hair but I just feel like my hair looks better straight and it works with my features.

    I’m trying to wear my hair straight too. But I’m deciding as well. I love the shine in natural hair when it’s straightened. It helps the sebum travel down the hair shaft. But I also incorporate wigs when I want a break. Your videos help me so much.

    I've been natural for almost 10 years now and I have never straightened my natural hair but lately I've really been considering becoming a straight haired natural but this Miami heat & humidity just doesn't allow for it but I still wanna try and make it happen. I struggle with astronomical amounts for single strand knots, and just like you I recently trimmed of about 3-4 inches off cause I couldn't take it anymore. I wanna work on growing my hair back and retaining length but I fear heat damage so I'm tryna educate myself as much as possible and can't wait to follow along on your journey! Would love to see a straight hair wash day routine 🙂

      I live in Miami and had the same issue before I was heat trained. My hair would be poofy within minutes the first few times i did a silk press but after the fourth or fifth time it is heat trained and not reverting.

    I'm experimenting with becoming a straight hair natural myself. I wore long, thin dreads for about 20 years and cut most off and combed out the rest about a year ago. I've been trying different styles ever since and just haven't landed on anything even remotely as easy to care for as the locs were. I also liked having hair as long as I wanted it, needing to cut off about 4 inches every 6 months for it to not get past the bottom of my shoulder blades. I want that shoulder blade length hair again, only this time that I can comb, brush, and style in more ways than I could do with my locs all those years. Your channel is helping me a lot as I explore this, so thanks so much for what you're doing. I also want to always look professional when I'm at work!

    Yes, I am a curly haired natural, a relatively new natural too. I am a science teacher, and I hate the feeling of waking up early and feeling rough, and then looking at my hair after so much time and effort styling it, and still feeling that it looks rough. I just really want it to look neat and tidy and put together. I am still working on it. Perhaps I will try one of your wash and gos.

    I'm for the option to switchup, especially when you live in a place with shifting seasons. Air drying my natural hair in a cold season will have me laid out with pneumonia. Straight and blown out works for me then as I know my scalp is fully dry. Do your thing.

  • @SasheikaT

    I’ve been I sure of what to do with my hair lately. I’ve been wearing silk presses for about 2-3 years so I guess that’s heat trained. It is easier to manage than natural styles but straight natural doesn’t fare too well with my workouts. Sometimes I think of cutting it and restarting my natural hair journey. Or if I continue on the straight natural journey use little to no flat iron straightening and just blow dry and/or roller set since my hair is finer and 4a and stretches easily

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  Рік тому +2

      This is something I’m currently trying to navigate, I’ve already sweated my roots after the first week so straight hair does have its drawbacks! Curls are so freeing in the sense that it doesn’t matter if it rains/sweat etc I think switching up the methods of stretching would definitely help! Xx

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm gobbling up your videos and recommendations. I'm debating how often to where my hair straight. I had thin dreadlocks down to my waist for about 20 years then cut off most and meticulously combed out the foot I left over a 2 week period. Since then I haven't lost length, but haven't gained it either, so definitely need to change things somehow.

    Your hair looking amazing girl…super excited to see what you will be showing us with it!! I have been shying away from straight hair bc I’m not sure how to moisturize it.
    Currently when I moisturize I damp my coils by spraying a mix of water and a humectant then I sit under the steamer. By the time I am done my coils are popping right back. Sooooo with straight hair i have no idea how that would work. How would you recommend I moisture when I have straight hair?

Is the goal to cause or claim to have heat damage than promote protein type hair repair conditioners? It would be nice if UA-camrs could be honest and say that they are being paid to influence black women to wear their hair straight, with the end goal that they will either buy these hair repair conditioners or eventually transition back to relaxed hair.
