I literally have to wash my hair every week. The most I’ll go without washing my heat trained hair is 10 days max, but I mainly just do a wash day every 7 days. I straighten my hair once a month, but the other 3 weeks I used my rev air to stretch my hair with heat! So far this is working for me. Hydrating products are a must and keratin products!
I can't imagine not washing my hair at least once a week! my scalp itch so bad, and my hair gets super dry, it´s not healthy for me. I personally wash my hair twice a week, silk press every time, or just blow dry if I'm not with patience. Curls are still normal after almost one year of this routine! I've seen so many scare videos, saying if you straiten your hair more than once a month, or once a week or whatever, that the hair would be damage and lose the curls. I got convinced that my hair would get straight just because of the flat iron, it never happened 😄 I even saw some videos of a girl trying to convince that it was healthy to not wash the hair for full 6 months! I think we should think about our scalp more often, and just do what is better for us individually. and its ok to wash the hair! i love your videos on being straight natural!
Wow love that this routine has worked for you honestly we need more success stories like this so the girlies are not so scared to straighten their hair! There’s safer ways to do it!xx
I’m trying the same I workout a lot and I understand scalp to be skin I honestly do not believe it’s healthy to go beyond a week without washing your hair. I’m playing with my heat settings keeping it very low to see how that works.
Thank you for talking about this! My hair does SO much better when I wash and condition consistently. The hydration I get from washing definitely helps with heat damage and breakage so stretching for several weeks is a no no for me as well.
I’m currently going 10 days between washes and that’s a lot for me 😭 when my hair is curly I wash every 4-5 days and honestly this is the biggest con for me with being a straight natural I just love washing my hair and doing my hair treatments. sometimes I’ll even just do a twist out if I want to wash my silk press like 4 days later because I just can not not wash my hair 😂 my hair is doing great though I had a short blunt bob last winter now it’s bra strap length less than a year later.
Samee! I actually love wash days and treating my hair shame I don’t get to do it as often now&& that is a good idea to do other styles in between because for me wash day is just a must & that’s amazing retention you clearly know what works for you!xxx
Yup, I was a 6 week stretcher: then had the nerve to wonder why I experienced excessive shedding. Not breaking but it was coming out from the scalp. Never occurred that I was smothering my scalp the way I was clogging it with oil. No wonder it was tossing out hair excessively… it was trying to breathe!! 🤦🏻♀️
I’m new to my straight natural journey and am currently stretching for 2 weeks. Once upon a time when I was relaxed, I washed, conditioned, and straightened my hair every week. My hair was healthy and still grew. I wonder why I’m stretching my natural hair for so long.
I mostly do weekly washes but can go to 2 weeks sometimes. For many years I did monthly when I had long dreadlocks, with no conditioner, just a moisturizing shampoo and some oil. But now that I don't have locs my hair needs water more frequently, as well as products to hold the moisture in my hair. I don't think I'll ever be less frequent than twice a month again. My scalp does best with 2-4 washes each month. The skin on my body can't go even that long, so won't put my scalp through that just because it's hidden by hair. LOL
My scalp can't even make it 2 weeks let alone 4 weeks. I wash my hair weekly. Scalp health trumps all. I don't silk out my hair weekly though. I do use my Revair every week though. I mostly wear blowdried hair pinned up. I'll use a straightener 1-2 times a month.
Ohh that explains why my hair has never gotten on with coconut oil! Always end up with super dry hair && I use my oil mixture, cleanse thoroughly on wash day, and remove any flaky areas in between with a fine tooth comb xxx
I am new with this straight natural way, I decided not to go back to relaxer, and it's been 7 mos. since my last relaxer. I can't wait 4 weeks, I can do 3, and that's hard. I just started steaming my hair on wash days, and it feels so good. I am still trying to not go in alot with the oils.
Yes even 3 is stretching for me && yes that’s the hard part is not overdoing the oils because that can make my hair longevity worse! What do you steam with?xx
I would say 4A my hair kind of had a silky texture when it’s freshly curly but would get kinkier over the days, and I find U.K. weather because it’s never really hot (like a couple weeks the whole year) it stays straight pretty well! Xxx
I stopped using dry shampoo due to it beening known to have carcinogens (Benzene) even if it’s not a listed ingredient also even if a company says its product has not been tested for Benzene there is really know what to know for sure.
Realised after I uploaded my camera was in and out of focus!😭😭 watch in 1080 and forgive me lovelies!🫶🏾🫶🏾

Hahah Yeahh the stretches are really difficult to justify sometimes but hey each to their own!xx
My hair also sheds if I don’t wash weekly.
Nope. I will be washing my hair weekly. I don't find long waiting to wash my hair appealing.
Yeahh 4 weeks is just abit too much of a stretch for me too😭 my scalp can’t take it!! Weekly is definitely a good shout Xx

Right!🤣 4 weeks such a stretch it’s a good idea to do another style in between aswell xx
same
Not only dry shampoo but also coconut oil is drying and astringent.
What are you doing to treat and normalize your scalp?
Ohh that explains why my hair has never gotten on with coconut oil! Always end up with super dry hair && I use my oil mixture, cleanse thoroughly on wash day, and remove any flaky areas in between with a fine tooth comb xxx

What was your texture before heat training? I have heat trained for years and still can't get it to stay this silky straight in the UK :(
I would say 4A my hair kind of had a silky texture when it’s freshly curly but would get kinkier over the days, and I find U.K. weather because it’s never really hot (like a couple weeks the whole year) it stays straight pretty well! Xxx
I live in the south of usa and its HUMID. I can only keep it straight for longer in the winter. Summer time i do every week.
I have to wash my hair every 3-4 days😭 my scalp gets extra flaky and itchy, and my straightened hair gets oily and stiff😅😅
3-4 dayss how do you find your hair takes to the heat?xxx
Great tips!
Thank you xx
Hiii, I hope all is well! Do you wear your hair straight year round? Or only winter?
Hey girl All year round xx
Can ACV be used on Relaxed hair and included in the hair routine?
I stopped using dry shampoo due to it beening known to have carcinogens (Benzene) even if it’s not a listed ingredient also even if a company says its product has not been tested for Benzene there is really know what to know for sure.
Ohh where are you from? Because in the U.K. Benzene is highly regulated it’s illegal for any other use other than scientific research xx
