Exactly how i do my steering wheel, it always looks so clean. Thanks for sharing Dave 👍
nice and easy for sure
Impressive presentation. Needed info on cleaning my wheel and your vid got me super interested to keep watching.
Fantastic stuff that leather cleaner from infinity wax.
100% it's just brilliant
My MK2 TT is exactly the same it actually looks like a shiny plastic wheel 😂 mine has no buttons either so it is a positive cleaning wise. Is your TT a TT FSI petrol model? If so have you remapped it? I had mine done a month ago and it honestly transformed it, now it goes as well as it looks👍👍 I'm going doing my wheel now, thanks for your video 👍👍👍
It's FSI I think. I haven't really had time to do anything with it yet but will do soon
Hi when you have cleaned the steering wheel is there a protection you can put on a leather steering wheel ?
All the best cheers 👍
Help needed. So I've tried Autoglym and Koch leather cleaner and even adding balm after it but after I've got it nice and Matt again I drive the car for 5 mins and the leather goes shinny and sticky again straight away. My hands are clean, literally left the house using hand wash. Why can't I get the leather to stay Matt and not sticky?
how about soapy wooder - like your colleague always says ???
My colleague?

I much prefer these specialised cleaning videos. The water spot remover on the badges/emblems video was great too, I use that on every car i detail now. Some good suggestions for products to review....firstly Rimmats - I got mine the other day and I think they are great, there are many benefits to them (stops dirt from the floor getting on brushes & applicators, allows you to clean/dress all way around the wheel without moving the car, works as a hose guide to stop snagging under wheels etc) . And secondly Kamikaze No.5 anti aging cleanser (I know it sounds like a beauty product lol), it's apparently the only product out there that can remove ALL coatings including ceramic, brilliant if you want to change or refresh your coating without the need to polish. Something that every detailer should have in their arsenal
thanks for the comment. Always love the feedback. As for Rimmats i actually have a better alternative that I use and its 2 vented floor tiles. I feel you have to roll the car back to get fully around the wheel the wheel so it would be a faff for me
@@epicautomotivedetailing the Rimmats have ridges that raise the wheel up allowing you to clean the full face of the tyre. That's one of the reasons I got them to save you having to move the car back and forth. You do eventually move the car off the mats when the job is finished so you could check if you've missed anything then but so far it looks like they're able to give you full access for cleaning and dressing.
@@ItsMeYourRealDad I may test them soon in the winter perhaps, detailing has gone very quiet at the moment even on UA-cam but come sept / October I may buy some
@@epicautomotivedetailing I thought the detailing scene had gone quiet too, must be the weather lol. Yes I know the rimmats aren't the cheapest at 50 quid but I think it's worth it in the long run. When I first started "proper" detailing I heard a tip saying use 4 pieces of 6x2 timber with a ramp cut out on one side so you can drive onto them leaving the face of the tyre overhanging and easy to clean/dress. So I've been using wood chocks up until recently, and although they were relatively cheap and easy to make, it definitely looks more professional now using the Rimmats
I use bar soap, or hand gel soap, into a microfibre with warm water, make a decent foam with it, slather it on the wheel and leave it for 2-3 minutes, wipe off a couple of times and then repeat if I need to. Works a treat every time. Leather is skin at the end of the day so whatever cleans my hands would clean a steering wheel.
Is any kind of soap okay?
Nice and clear. Straight to the point. I’m guilty sometimes of being too aggressive in cleaning the steering wheel.
We all make that mistake at some point
Thank you Dave, good advice and tips... 👍
Cheers my friend
More great information and tips Dave thanks for yet another cracking video mate
Cheers Andy really appreciate the kind words
Did the inside of my car today. Used turtle wax inside job and was quite happy with it although I forgot the boot until the end lol
I have that but still need to use it at some point
Hi Mate, good video. One question. Is there a safe way not to just clean but to desinfect a steering wheel? Like with alcohol or somerhing else. For example to prevent covid, obtaining a used car or just personal ocd preferences😅 Thank already
Pears soap is very good at this job try it on leather seat and you will be amazed
Yeah I remember in the old days I used to do that on leather seats
I used about 0.5l water and a dot, maybe half a spoonful of apc mixed in. Cleaned twice. makes a huge difference. thanks
Nice one 👌
@@epicautomotivedetailing dove soap do a foaming soap dispenser I am going to add some water soap to it next time to clean. Any suggestions what soap to use? Apc?
Love your videos it’s really good to see everything made straight forward when cleaning. Thank you:)
Thank you 🙏
Hi there love the content on the channel, just a quick question, how would you go about removing suncream hand stains from car paint work, any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Thanks Dave for the great and informative video as always, keep them coming 👍 👍
Thank you Eamon
Once again Dave another fantastic and informative video keep them coming mate
Cheers Mark
Now do an alcantara one that’s full of hand mung
100% more than happy to do that, Short and sweet dedicated videos always work better
A customer once said she has ‘make-up paws’ which builds up on the steering wheel….
I just said True 😂
@@epicautomotivedetailingif you can do a short on cleaning Alcantara seats that would be wicked! Love the videos
Great video mate, clear how to do it. Wondered the best way to clean a steering wheel as don’t want to damage it.
Great tattoos btw mate 👍
Women and bloody hand cream, Dave!!!!
This will make you cringe. I used one of those small sponges with the green brillow layers on it. Yep i totally destroyed my leather steering wheel and had to send it off to be re trimmed 😢
These things happen. I wouldn't feel too bad about it 🙏
@epicautomotivedetailing I used magic eraser on my new BMW steering wheel, and it caused some damage! Rubbed of the top smooth layer! Is there a way to make it smooth again, because it feels rough on the hand now it's awful 😖😢
I like to use an autoglym magic sponge and an apc. Super quick and a nice matt finish.
APC is ok now and then diluted. I had autoglym APC. Was ok for the weekend warrior but the smell was a fit funky
@epicautomotivedetailing yeah it is a bit smelly lol. Magic sponge on leather is a game changer though either with apc or interior clean both work great. Was shown the magic sponge trick on one of the courses I went on with autoglym at work.
Great video! Any advise for steering wheel leather than looks like it’s slightly fading?
If it's Faded there are a few options but personally the re colouring is probably the best method. Not something I've got heavily involved with but will look into it
@@epicautomotivedetailing thanks I appreciate that. If you know of any recolouring products that would be extremely helpful!
@@M140i23 I may not be the guy for that as I'm inexperienced with that part however I'm sure I saw detailers bible on Instagram do something with a company recently
