    I have the Akrapovic S-Y7R12-APT race system and the Yoshimura air box and Nate over at 2 Wheel DynoWorks is telling me I can expect 12hp increase at the wheel with a proper ECU flash. 🤘😎🎸🏍

    Very interesting to hear your perspective on the R7 as a track day hobby racer bike.
    Another benefit would be a lot cheaper on tires.
    Can't wait to see Max in twins cup after he wins the Junior Cup championship.
    Good luck guys!

    The Stock throttle is a very long travel twist for drag racing anyway ..

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Рік тому +1

      I am waiting for the MotionPro REV3 Throttle to be available. Once it is I will install it on the R7. We have it on the other bikes and love it. - Van

      @@sportbiketrackgear I was not able to find a brand that reduced total throttle wrist travel over all ..
      The FZ-07 can be rather jerky throttle on the street .. Instant on and instant off throttle response.. It's hard to ride at a steady speed.. A little on the throttle and you accelerate above the speed limit.. A little off the throttle and you are into engine braking mode.
      The Throttle on my Buell is not sensitive. It takes some drastic movement to accelerate or decelerate.. The engine acts sluggish compared to the Yamaha ..
      The Buell Crankshaft and flywheel is a lot lighter than a Sportster yet.
      I want to take my FZ-07 to the Drag strip and see if the 74 HP and 100# less weight can be the 103 HP Buell which ran 12.77 @110 MPH .
      Also I need to learn to ride the rear brake to keep the wheelies down .. You have to slip the clutch or let off from the throttle or ride the rear brake or you will flip it over backwards.
      I have done so many whole shots on dirt bikes but you just spin the rear wheel.

      @@sportbiketrackgear I would like to have the wider bars on my FZ-07 like the MT-07 has.. I have maxed out the length my stock throttle, clutch cable and brake line can reach with 2' riser in the handle bars for my short arms.

    I think your going to really help out a lot of riders with this video .

    What about exhaust and an ECU reflash for 93 Octane gas?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Рік тому

      This is not necessary, you can run the 93 without making any changes. - Van

    • @mikeskidmore6754
      @mikeskidmore6754 Рік тому +1

      @@sportbiketrackgear Yes but you could advance the timing and make more power on 93 Octane. You are trying to get more power out of the bike.
      My Yamaha Snowmobile .. has an R-1 engine in it .. I added a 4 degree offset key way in the flywheel.. It improved my gas mileage more than any noticeable power gains.
      Advanced the timing 4 degrees from idle to wide open with is about 10,500 RPMS is how the snowmobile clutch is set up ..
      In the hot rodding days we all advanced the timing by turning the Distributor a bit and checking the initial advance with a timing light ..
      Modern V-8's have timing tables and a Detonation sensor. If the sensor detects detonation it retards the timing.
      It is my understanding that modern bikes fuel and timing tables adjust for air temperature, coolant temps ect..
      My Yamaha FZ-07 runs richer and makes way more power on Cold days.
      for exampled I rode my FZ-07 177 miles over to SBT the day before we got 8 inches of snow the next day back in March. I really hurried home because I wanted to beat the snow Blizzard.
      You had the Track suits on sale. I didn't want to buy one with out trying it on first.
      Seems they said Medium was already sold out. I barley squeezed into a large since I gained 26# over the winter.

    Greetings of peace Van; I've been following your posts for some time; thanks for the information you shared. I appreciate the intimate look you shared with your thoughts. I have a 2021 R1M, do you have any ideas on the setup? Would changing the airbox for example make a difference?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Рік тому

      IMO there would be no reason to change the airbox on that bike. Thanks for watching! - Van

    I’ll for sure be waiting for that Yoshi Air Box video, I wanna see what my R7 benefit from that on the street. Do you think you’ll add the Yoshi camshafts as well?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Рік тому

      I have not looked into the cams yet. We will do an install as well as a ride review video for the airbox once I get that done. - Van

    Thanks for the video Brian, I’m working through how to make mine a track bike as well. I lack the experience on a big bike on the track so this should fit well forcing me to learn to keep up corner speed. Would you consider the driver captive adjusters something that should be on a track bike or is there a better option?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Рік тому +1

      I do not believe captive chain adjusters are a requirement for a track bike. End of the day the make changing the tire and adjusting the chain a little easier. - Van
