How interesting.. Your opinion is completely valid, but what my perfectionist self loves about him is that he doesn't let any imperfections/complex problems discourage/paralyze/slow him down. It's inspiring to me, because it reminds me that the scissor cuts on the tile, sometimes visible glue gun marks, etc. are not actually part of the big picture, I just sometimes let it get in my head, when I'd be better off just doing it already. (my type of perfectionism is to my detriment when it comes to home makeovers, it usually paralyzes me and drives me cray)
Lili Sz Me too, he’s does things very well and pays attention to detail but he doesn’t get caught up in perfectionism. I would totally obsess about a slightly crooked cut and he just moves on to accomplish so much more and I would have either quit or started all over to achieve perfection... not a good thing and I hate that I am like that!
Same its what sets him apart from other DIYers, Drew never does a half-assed job and thats why we love him!
The real test is when you take the tiles off the wall...do you have videos of that to see if it rips the walls?

OMG Drew left his hair products here from Function of Beauty and I thought I’d try them and the smell is amazing. It really smells so tropical like papaya and mangos I’m not kidding. I’m going to buy some that is personalized just for me. I’ve never seen this done before but loved the idea and I can confirm that the smell is soooo good. No the brand did not pay me to write that lol.
Actually just used shampoo and conditioner and happy to say my hair does have a tropical smell to it but it’s not quite as much as when u smell it in the bottle. Didn’t make my hair frizzy and was easy to style.
You raised a good man. My son is 13 and discovering his sexuality and Drew is a role model. We are moving from Chicago to Nevada in the summer and my son is going to try to recreate Drews stuff. Its a distraction from not knowing how kids are in a new state and just the usual teen agst. Im grateful that my son has Drew to look up too.

Pro tip when using the stick on tiles make sure you caulk all the edges makes it look more profess and seamless

It depends on the brand you buy, but yeah they all usually come off no problem just research yours to make sure lol

The flooring is not renter friendly. It takes work to remove and leaves a glue film after.

marikie marie Renter friendly means the ability to put it back as before. It doesn’t mean that it’s always easy to do. But stick-on vinyl will always come off of ceramic tile.
I'm also betting that you could line your original floor with contact paper since that's an easier removal and stick the tiles to that...
It's an extra step but it would give the best of both worlds with removal and the look 😊

That peel & stick floor tile is everything! It made an enormous difference, along with your Dad’s painting of the cabinet in that dark color, along with all the other black accents you chose, the sink fixtures, the shower curtain rod and the old man image on the pot. The shelves and subway tile really upgraded the look of the toilet corner! That feels like an odd thing to say but I feel it balanced this vertically there! Overall, I give it a Wow!
When we updated out bathroom , we took the sink faucet off and painted it a matte black. It’s a great way to save money, although I love the Koehler they’re not cheap. So if anyone wants the look for less, paint a couple of coats then make sure you get a waterproof top coat. I’ve had it for 4 years with no problems. Btw the bathroom turned out beautiful.

Likely not, I've used something similar before in my bathroom and it keeps peeling. It looks great at first but not very durable at all.

I personally installed this peel and stick wall tile and it WRECKED the wall entirely. So on the floor it was okay if it’s ceramic underneath but it leaves a nerverending sticky film. So beware ! Although must say this transformation is superb !

I liked the design, but it drive me a bit mad at the end when you left the toilet paper holder chrome. It would be so easy to spray paint that black like the light fixture. Details!

This transformation is incredible. The pattern selection for the geometric floor and subway tiles are the best ways to use those wall sheets I've seen.. Love it. Thanks for sharing.

One more thing that will help give the bathroom a more modern feel is framing that huge mirror. My neighbor went out and bought some medium width slightly fancy crown molding, angle cut it and framed the mirror being careful to not nail through the glass. She painted it black prior putting it up and it was just the right finishing touch.

the top of your “tile wall” needs an ending...like a strip of painted wood...it’ll detract from the fact that it’s not really tile and it’ll keep the stickers from peeling as well...

I have mixed feelings about this video. Not that the design isn’t beautiful, and my heart just about burst with how sweet it was of you to include your mom and do a makeover for her. But then you kept talking over her and didn’t include her thoughts on it at the end. Actually, without more context, it doesn’t appear you cared much for her thoughts at all. She likes color but you still went with your mostly monochromatic aesthetic anyway. We don’t get to see if this truly was her style or not. In all it seemed like making a video for your channel was more important than providing her with a bathroom she enjoyed.
I also don’t see how some things like changing the faucet or painting the light fixtures counts as “renter friendly”- these are definitely things most tenants would have to ask permission from their landlord/property management company for permission to do. You include some really helpful info about changing the faucet and building the shelves though, and that’s appreciated.
Overall I think those little details is what sets apart other UA-cam channels from yours. You have a truly set aesthetic that many people are into and want to replicate. It truly & genuinely serves the right audience. But other channels are capable of multiple styles, and can really cater to a variety of tastes, and it shows in their “client’s” reactions.
Yep. He's talented and every bit as skilled as anyone else but too self-centered for me to want to watch more of his videos. Hearing from the person he's doing it for and seeing their reactions is one of the best parts of these videos. Also, when he said that he was unhappy and not even going to finish it, I couldn't help but think.. "but what about your parents? They can't have a half-finished bathroom!" Thankfully, he did finish.

I just feel like a framed mirror translates to a space that feels complete and polished. But this shit was amazing. You outdo yourself every single time!!

This bathroom makeover is fabulous. My own bathroom make over also was completed and I also had those builder grade mirrors. They look like motel mirrors so I glued around entire mirror small tiles on one and had some wood cut at Home Depot and used rosettes in corners. What a transformation you should try it. It looked like a mirror you would find in a store like Home Goods for as little as 20 dollars and 15 min of your time.

A single handle faucet is much better, if you change it. More sanitary for these days as well, as you can turn it on and off with your wrist and the temperature control is way easier. Having an existing two handle faucet would be reason enough for a change.
