Genuinely happy to see these actually being renter friendly. I recently viewed a flat with "renter friendly" sticker decorations on the wall. They were not renter friendly and had not been removed for obvious reasons (tenants in the process of moving out). When viewing flats, I only ever see the massive fails, because they're the ones that leave obvious trails that can't be cleaned up. I'm glad some of these hacks actually work.
I think the new renter could ask her to keep the changes - she wouldn't be able to reuse the materials and wouldn't have to have all that work. The problem often is the real state broker that demands everything to go back to the original state - EVEN IF THE PLACE GOT IMPROVED.
My father ranted when I painted a wall in my flat and put up new lamps, because I'd just have to remove them and paint that wall again when I move out. Better not to change anything at all. Took me some time to realize that, heck, even if I have to paint a wall again, I wanna live comfortable and in a place where I feel like home, not like I'm squatting. Seeing what you did is next level and so refreshing. I'm gonna check out all the hacks now, YT randomly showed me this vid first.
I've rented for many years, and my mantra has always been "No permanent damage." It's extremely useful to see which kind of rental hacks are easy to remove and which are nearly impossible. Thanks for doing the good work!
As a military family, we moved a lot. Try this hack for residue on walls. Borax and water used on a sponge mop. We were required to wash the walls before out processing our housing. Wash from the bottom of the wall to the top.
I don’t think I’ve seen someone do a how to remove diy rental friendly hacks…….thanks for sharing that and now I know that these things are truly rental friendly.
Tip for next time: rubbing alcohol will remove some kinds of glue residue on it's own already really well, I don't think you would've needed the baking soda with it (saves some mess)
Oil for the most sticky residues - but a cheap oil works fine xD olive oil is too presious for cleaning. And afterward wash everything down with just a soapy water. Simple dish soap does the job.
I so appreciate that you showed this! So many people show putting up “rental-friendly” accents but then leave you unsure about the ability for it all to come off.
Can I just say your filming and editing skills are amazing. I appreciate the amount of work and love you put into this video during an already stressful time! So helpful I can’t thank you enough!
I’m wondering what percentage of landlords don’t want you to reverse because the apartment is much better than it was before. Did you ask your landlord if they wanted you to reverse what you did?
@@Bright2010Star I would'nt ask to leave it because, yes, they paid for it! But if they wanted to save time by letting these modifications on and asking if they could, it's a different story
Hi Dalia! This was a great video, you are very talented! As a person who works in the apartment industry and loves everything interior design, all of your renter friendly ideas are a 10/10! So so cute. You definitely went above and beyond, considering I never painted even just one accent wall in the apartments I've had in the past 😅 Anyways, just wanted to say that a little glue residue is not at all bad compared to some VERY dirty apartments we get back. Our maintenance guys and cleaners swear by goo-gone, so that would have been easy to take care of. The small marks of paint is not a big deal either, again, compared to holes in walls, etc. 🤣 I do admire your enthusiasm to get the apartment back to when you first moved in. Props to you. 👍 P.s. for any other DIYers out there, if you have laminate countertops, please do NOT use contact paper or a heat gun. I've never tried it, but I know how much those counters cost, so I would stay away from it. O.O Definitely recommend for hard counters tho 👍
This was really helpful! There are so many videos with ‘rental friendly’ makeovers but almost never we see exactly how ‘rental friendly’ they are. These were great! Good luck with the new place!
This honestly inspired me so much because undoing things is always what prevents me from doing them and I’ve been debating redoing my bathroom with contact paper and tile and you’re really making me feel like I can!
I’m just about to take on a peel and stick accent wall and now I’m wondering how difficult it’s going to be to remove years down the road ha ha. Great video and keep up the amazing work on your channel.
I wouldn’t do it on a wall personally, bc I feel like wall texture vs tile floor texture is different. I can see the good sticking to the wall and being hard to clean off
And it’ll probs rip off the paint. She even mentioned she wouldn’t do this on a wall in her kitchen as it would rip the paint off, but she had an existing backsplash so she did it on top
Yes showing challenges and /or ease of diy rental friendly design removal is greatly appreciated! Plus the durability of the diy improvements is highlighted. Thank you. You did a super quality installation and removal!
I've been redoing my entire apartment and tbh, this video makes me wanna do moar stuff to it ahha. My bathroom is about to look so luxe. Ima subscribe.

As a landlord, I’d ask to have everything removed. It looks fantastic, but when it finally starts to wear, I wouldn’t be willing to take the time and effort to try to find and match up replacement material plus put in the work to install it properly.
@@mcrchickenluvr imo that doesnt change anything, the landlord didnt ask for it to be installed so they shouldnt have to spend their own time and money to replace it. Especially when it comes to scraping leftover sticky residue off the floor
This is completely understandable yet respectable. You understand your renters' point of view but at the end of the day, time is money. Renting is basically a business at the end of the day. I thought these renter friendly hacks were a complete no go but as long as it goes down at the end of the lease that's more than enough for me
mcrchickenluvr But what about if they start to wear when the next tenant lives there? All of the "stick on" things look cute while new but aren't actual permenant finishes. If I moved in there and saw the tiles peeling up and revealing the ugly beige floors I would be mad at the landlord. Not to mention, land lords don't want to be constantly renovating things, which is why they make their apartments durable, not beautiful. This way they can look great tenant after tenant with just some basic cleaning, with some rare exceptions.
We rent a house currently, and I don’t care if they want to do stuff like this as long as they remove it and clean completely before they leave. I thoroughly cleaned the house before they moved in, it’s not fair to expect someone to have to put this much time and effort into cleaning up your mess that you made.
That was really interesting! I've hesitated to use any peel and stick products because of the sticky residue issue, knowing it might involve some hard work. I haven't used any modern materials, just old fashioned stuff years ago that I know will leave stickiness, so I was wondering about updated products and how easy they were to remove, so thank you for sharing your experience, it's much appreciated. 👍😊 Good luck with your move and new home. ☘☘☘
Hello! Love some of your ideas! So I found your "unmaking" your apartment video, but couldn't find tweaking video of the orange arch , the beautiful rattan lights you hug up with command straps nor the process for the walls with the wood and command straps. Can you post the link to how these were done by you, what products you used. I lived the lights the best... I don't want to change out our lights, but adding those as you did was WOW!! THANK YOU.

For cleaning up residue or oils you used to pick up residue, just using dish soap is great. It's safe for most surfaces and will really get in there more than you'd expect.
Goo gone works for glue adhesive. You will not get sick from it however if u have to use a lot especially for your floor and decor adhesive coverings that’s possible.

I love the idea of new renters coming in after having viewed it and loved it just like …. Is this the one we rented? Are you sure? It looks different 😂
I've usually chosen apartments specifically because the previous tenant did work like painting the walls a pretty color so I wouldn't have to. I'd be so mad if I moved in and the landlord had painted over all of it!
Thank you for this video. So many DIY/Pinterest ideas only show to process of getting it up and the picture perfect results, but I am always wondering what happens when it's time to move out. Helpful ideas to get the thought process started.

This video was amazing. I’m so glad I watched it. Especially watching her remove the spray paint from the bathroom cabinet handles. I live in an apartment and I desire to make some changes without damaging their property. She did so many DIY beautiful inexpensive upgrades that it gave me inspiration to do what I want in my apt without worrying about returning it to the original condition, which was my dilemma. But this young lady gave me hope and inspiration. You are heaven sent.❤️ I admire your work, effort and genius talent! This was wonderful! I take my hat off to you!!!! 🎩🎩🎩
I think this is my favorite video you've made! I love the makeovers but always wonder, "is that REALLY renter-friendly?". Feeling much more confident to try some of these hacks!
Thank you, the finishes in your apt was pretty nice even without the contact paper & tiles. Thanks for showing us how you removed them. Now I know that I will not be doing diy upgrades, clearly a lot of work. I don't have patience for removing all the glue residue on floors, cabinets and the backsplash could possibly mess up the paint on my walls. Thanks ❤
What’s odd is I saw one of her video over a year ago… the countertop video. When this video appeared, it was like the algorithm said, hey… come back and watch her take it all down! LOL
This was amazing. I don't even rent and now I want to DIY my house so when I'm ready to change the style, all I got to do is undo it. Love it. ❤thanks for sharing

AHH, I'm so excited for this video! 😍 I've been hating so many parts of my apartment for so long, my bathroom floor is absolutely garbage, it literally has old burn marks. I haven't bothered to do much because my kids were little when we moved in, but now that they're older I really want our place to look nice and coordinated. We've lived in this apartment long enough I'm not worried about our deposit too much, I know they're going to remodel the unit anyway. Awesome ideas! I'm excited to look back at how you put in a lot of this stuff too 💕
Thank you for this video… I was always scared to re-do my rental because of the landlord but now I have the courage to do it and know it doesn’t take much to remove. I always wanted to do it but always hesitated.
My family and I are moving in June and I'm so excited to now watch all your videos and plan some fun DIY renter hacks for my next place. Renting again while I save to buy 😆 I loved your panelling on the wall!!! I always thought as a renter, I couldn't have that :( love it!!!!
as someone with long hair I was holding my breath the whole time worrying your hair would get stuck to something at some point lol! anyways, this is a super helpful video so thanks for making it!!
Love the upgrades you made that goes to show you these property owners could invest very little to upgrade their properties without the high prices, essentially renting the place for more money in the end which would be well worth it
I just wanted to say thank you sooo much for making this video because everyone does videos putting things up but then never talks about the possible challenges of taking it all down
This was an amazing un-makeover. I’ve never watched your channel before, and was amazed every time you removed the contact paper off of something I had no idea you could even contact-paper over!
I liked watching this undoing more than I ever enjoy the process of actually making the space. I think bc I am overwhelmed with so many ideas out there that I just can’t get myself to ever do any. It’s like a backtrack and relax thing.
This video is amazing! I move into my apartment in 1 month and want to make all the changes you made but wasn’t sure how removal would be for move out and your video literally answered all my questions 🎉😊
Hey 👋🏾 this is my first video of yours that I’m seeing and it was the most satisfying video to watch. Also, your apartment was gorgeous. Now I have to go back and see how you decorated everything 🥴🤗
SAME!! and I'm moving into a new space in a few weeks... Dalia has a lot of great ideas! Now I'm thinking about peel and stick paper for an accent wall. The take down video was great, I feel a bit more confident with doing it on my own! ;)
As a landlord, I was always open to renters upgrading things as long as they asked first. The only time I had a problem was when I walked in to find an entire wall in the dining room painted screaming red as the renters had not asked, even though I had discussed the issue when they signed the rental agreement. They had already left without restoring the wall. It took me many hours of time, several coats of primer and paint, and even more frustration. PLEASE, always ask first and restore it when done.
That nail polish remover is the best. I use it for removing all kinds of sticky gooey stuff. Probably would have worked better on the floor and counter as well but you would need a mask.
This is my first time seeing someone undo all their diy stuff. Showing this step is VERY helpful as well!

I love the idea of new renters coming in after having viewed it and loved it just like …. Is this the one we rented? Are you sure? It looks different 😂
we also wondered if that was what happened! 😂😜
Wait haha, did the new renters actually come see the apartment with the upgrades?
I’d be so upset haha
I've usually chosen apartments specifically because the previous tenant did work like painting the walls a pretty color so I wouldn't have to. I'd be so mad if I moved in and the landlord had painted over all of it!
Thank you for this video. So many DIY/Pinterest ideas only show to process of getting it up and the picture perfect results, but I am always wondering what happens when it's time to move out. Helpful ideas to get the thought process started.
Great unmaking video… helps renters see their ideas come to life and the “tear down” isn’t so scary or pricey, 🙌
i got so excited hearing "Missouri" im here too lmao this is so great ! many blessings to yall! its rare to see influencers from my city "KCMO" or just MO in general
Love this! Normally see YT vids of making, not the un-making which is just as helpful and necessary piece of information with renter-friendly diy.
I think this is my favorite video you've made! I love the makeovers but always wonder, "is that REALLY renter-friendly?". Feeling much more confident to try some of these hacks!
Amazing video! Somehow got on my youtube homepage and I'm so glad I clicked on it! A new rabbit hole to fall into!
Such a great video! I'm always a bit skeptical at how renter friendly these hacks actually are, so it was really helpful to see the removals.
I left all my upgrades up in my last apartment AND got my deposit back 🥰
I upgraded their unit and they got to keep it 🤷🏽♀️ we both saw it as a win!
Thanks ❤
Moving in a few weeks, and now that I've seen how you removed it, I can't wait to start watching your DIYs!
More UA-camrs need to show this part of their process! So helpful to know!!! Ty
Watching this to see if all these rental friendly decor ideas are actually easily removable! Thank you for sharing!!
Best part of this video is if you watch it backwards it shows you how to DIY your apartment ✨✨
Vinegar works well to remove stickiness as well.
I don't know how you ended up on my feed but I am happy you did! That was amazing! And now I need to go back through your videos ❤️
What’s odd is I saw one of her video over a year ago… the countertop video. When this video appeared, it was like the algorithm said, hey… come back and watch her take it all down! LOL
I actually liked some of the things from before the updates
This was amazing. I don't even rent and now I want to DIY my house so when I'm ready to change the style, all I got to do is undo it. Love it. ❤thanks for sharing
Stumbled on this vid, glad I watched. NEVER have seen such a real life post-take on a DIY. Bravo, kudos, and thanks. #subscribed.
OOOMMMGGG😍😍 You opened opened up so many ways to customize a non luxury apartment. I’m trying to move in 2 years and this has helped me so much!!
Moving into a single family home rental in two months. We are so excited to make it our own using your DIY rental friendly tips and tricks. We hope to be there for the next 4 years, so it’s really important for us to make it a place we love. Thanks again!
What black paint did you use on bathroom hardware? I want to try this on a standing shower frame!
This is the kind of content we need! Yes, I want the removable hacks, but what's the aftermath 👏🏾
Edit: 14:33 what is that? Is gorgeous 😍
Excellent video. The owner should have asked you to leave everything and pay you for it. Job well done. You have good taste.
Love the upgrades you made that goes to show you these property owners could invest very little to upgrade their properties without the high prices, essentially renting the place for more money in the end which would be well worth it
I wonder if the landlord/owner would even know you had made any changes?! They’d probably be like, “This place is pretty nice”. LOL!!!!!!
This is soooo exciting for me!! Thank you for sharing
The renter all landlords want. This is so informative thank you! Hope this type of consideration comes back around to you in the most positive ways!!💗
I just wanted to say thank you sooo much for making this video because everyone does videos putting things up but then never talks about the possible challenges of taking it all down
This has inspired me to create a new design with these kind of upgrades in my own place. The easy removal sealed the deal. Thanks for sharing!
I love the original kitchen. How long did you live in the rental? That was a lot of work.
This was FANTASTIC!!!! Thank you for sharing! Even when not renting, some designs you just don’t want to commit to, so this was awesome!
The take down video was great, I feel a bit more confident with doing it on my own! ;)
Omg what did you use to stick those lamps on the ceiling!!
Thank you so much for this video
