My stupid doctor for my liver. They never told me nothing about milk thistle.
Thank you for this information.
If anyone could find me a physician who knows what even a tenth of what supplements are used for, I would gladly change doctors. At 72 years old I have yet to find an MD or even a DO that KNOWS hardly anything about herbal supplements or alternative medications. If a medication doesn't have a big pharma name attached to it, doctors don't want to acknowledge it exists.
Start with simple teas like Peppermint. Find a Traditional Chinese Herbalist in your area.
Trail Blazer - Most doctors are not proficient in nutrition. You could find a good nutritionist, or you can watch this channel and Dr. Bergs channel. They are both very informative.
Check out Dr. Andrew Weil
If you have to say "alternative" then it isn't medication.

Your offerings are great. Thank you. I love milk thistle and it saved my dog's life basically. Between that and beets, his liver enzymes went from off-the-charts to normal in a matter of weeks.
I’ve forgotten about beets!! I need to roast some soon ! Very good for the liver 😊
I've been taking milk thistle for at least 10 yrs now. It started "innocently" just to help my liver. Not heavy drinker, never had any problems just thought that since it is such important organ and I'm getting older, it might help with my overall well-being. Thank you dr Kim for the presentation, it made me understand better how good it is for me.
Do you take raw or pills?
@@NaughtyCritters Hi, just pills. Have noticed the increase in price over the years, also sometimes some preparats have "liver support" on the bottle but when you look at the ingredients it has milk thistle, so...
I could listen to you talk about nutrition all day. You're a great speaker and I just love that you care about people inside and out!
Doctor, i just want to tell you that i am so glad for your channel. The last 4 years i have done extensive studies into the supplements i find that you teach about. I wanted to be able to get off of the pharmaceuticals i was on. Since i took on this journey into a more natural way of handling many of my problems i can honestly say that i have been able to stop taking : Anti-Depressants, Blood Pressure meds. (My doctor told me to stop using them. I did not just stop) I stopped having sinus infections which would turn into chest congestion, then bronchitis. Almost every other month.I also take local raw honey everyday. I don't have to take 16 or more ibu for inflammation and pain because of tumeric. I just took my Milk Thistle (I use to be a heavy drinker). Just last week though i felt i was coming down with something in my chest. By night time i was having a very hard time breathing. I am a former smoker and have decreased function in my lungs. But, i don't run to the commercial medicine cabinet any more. I started my sick regimen of herbs. Elderberry syrup i made myself, oil of oregano, licorice root, mullein leaf, vitamin c, echinacea, olive leaf, and goldenseal. And also my normal routine of vitamins and minerals.Oh how it kicked it out quick. I have hardly been sick in 3 and a half years. As before i was constantly getting sick. But, i found out by this video that there was a lot of information i didn't know about Milk Thistle which will lead me to watch all your content. Thanks for the awesome video. And you have a loyal viewer for sure. Do you have any certain go to for special times? I would love to know. Thanks again. One more thing. I make my dogs their food and my dogs also get milk thistle, dandelion root and other supplements. I heard that these specifically help with fatty tumors. 1 of my dogs has those. We have really only started. So we shall see.
How did you stabilise BP ya? Thank you 💕
@@gracelilyyoshua328 good question
you are smart and has wisdom to use herbs rather than processed drugs. I do believe herbs supplements too. yeah, now many the doctors sell processed drugs than give advices guides to use herbs supplements or vitamins. We all know why
@@VinVin-iz9jp I am still at beginners stage of learning. Do you have a favorite book that you could recommend for medicinal herb remedies.
Deb Woods, One of the best brand of Milk Thistle, is made by Hübner. Tall bottle, It is liquid, taste great !
OMG. 2100mg works out to just about 3/4 tsp. 😳 I've been taking almost a tablespoon of ground seeds in divided doses throughout the day (in tea, in smoothies, etc) for the last week. No wonder I've been feeling weird! Thanks doc!
What do you mean when you say that you have been feeling weird?
@@Evergleam it's been awhile since I wrote that. If I remember correctly, it did feel as if my liver was working harder, and wasn't happy about it. And I felt woozy sometimes. But it wasn't intense or painful.
This was amazing, Thank you!

straight forward explanation
I subscribe to your channel
It would be nice to have a picture of the plant.
So explicit
Thank you!! I am so amazed that our medical system does not deal with these natural remedies.
Would or could this help with HELLP Syndrome?
majorcool !!!!!
What of Dr practice is this called and where do I move. I have often said I like a Doctor who tell what I may need to stop and what may help change by diet, exercise, mental health then consider a prescription medication or treatment. I think I said it. I so appreciate you providing such wealth of information along with thoughtful views on what to consider.......
Wow 😲 where is he! I want to go see him!
Can I use NAC and Berberine at the same time. I will be using milk thistle also
❤️
Milk Thistle does wonders. I've used it myself to help lazy thyroid and also suggested to a relative who suffered from fatty liver. It worked in both cases very well.
I wish more doctors knew about this.
Doctors know about holistic medicine, but because they are slaves of the A.M.A., who go by a very narrow band of remedies, mostly pharmaceuticals, which the A.M.A. make millions from, who'da thunk it??? There are plenty of videos here on YT that show doctors who quit, gave up their license, their 16 years (+/-) of schooling to treat people with holistic medicine and they feel amazing because they know they are truly helping people. The A.M.A.'s job is to keep us all sick, that way they keep making their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$......
Can you tell me if i use 1000 mg milk thistle of natures bounty will be ok?
@@zuneraijaz7904 I'm not aware of that particular brand, but I think you can be more genrous than 1000mg. I used to have have two or more spoonful of the powder per day mixed in a nice water citron combo glass. That is a pertty safe plant.
Could you please share which brand of milk thistle are you taking or recommending?! Greatly appreciated 🙏
@@moniryousefian8782 It is just a wild plant's flower's powder. It grows in aboundance in nature in many parts of the world in Asia and Europe. So it is not branded. Just search Milk Thistle and you'll find the powder.
When is the best time to take it? Can it be taken with other supplements?
can you take about malabsorption syndrome and supplement help for absorption ¿
Does milk thistle tea contain the active ingredients you say are found in the 'seeds and fruit'? Thank you.

Say something good for skin, because your skin is perfect!
Please.
Hi Doc,
Thanks for your content.
Are there any natural medicine books that you would recommend for reading?
Thanks.

hi doctor, what if recently my gallbladder was removed due to fats build up and some other things. and was diagnose with a fatty liver? can I take milk thistle to support my liver ? thank you
Does it reverse liver damage?
Hi doc, is a table spoon considered a daily dose?
Dr..what's the best form of milk thistle to take for liver. Like, tab or powder
..?
Will milk thistle eliminate my NAC and cúrcumin, and other supplements and vitamins?
That explains why my arm has been annoyingly inching for no reason.
My dose is at 360mg a day ,
Reason for my use is too much iron in my liver causing a fatty liver that I have to be mindful of.
Hi Doctor can you also add some contraindications? Thank you..
that's all good but how do you use the plant?
I bought milk thistle in drop Forms, will this still give me the Benefits and how many drops a day would you recommend ?
Guess what? I'm just about to dig into my thermos which has not only green and rooibos tea brewing away, but also milk thistle seeds too. I won't lie - I've stopped short of grinding them up in a pestle and mortar - but I'm convinced I'm still getting a good hit of positives.
One major one hopefully being a reduction of the negative effects of oestrogen from soy based products. Take for example, a vegan Wellington I tried yesterday. I can't claim to be a veggie, but nuts, seeds and mushrooms figure in my diet a whole lot. One hopes they're hepatoprotective too.
So i has my gallbladder removed last year. I wan to support my liver because I know the bile goes directly to our liver. Which is the best form to take ? Is tea a waste to take ?
can you take thistle along with NAC.
do you have a video on King of Bitters for ulcerative colitis?
Where can a find a good source of milk thistle? Is milk thistle tea a good source?
Sounds as though it may be dicey for those with thyroid dis-ease and on medication. Is that a correct assumption?
Please advise if can take MT with advanced cihhorosis. Will it help?
Can anyone recommend a good brand? Or if the extract is better?
What can milk thistle do for fatty tumors specifically?
- Thanks
Does milk thristle tea help the liver or are pill form better?
It also helps lower blood glucose
Does Milk Thistle have a diuretic effect?
Is milk thistle estrogenic?
Excellent video. I’m looking to take milk thistle seed for maintenance, thyroid benefits, and just detox the liver in general. I have the whole seeds. I was going to grind them and just taking that and flushing it with water but then I ran across some research that said that they’re not very absorbable. I read that if you take it with a fat it absorbs better. I also read somewhere that you need to take it on an empty stomach.Do you know anything about these two points?
Sounds good to me …
Can u take this with synthroid I don't have my thyroid they burned it out and Prozac i take
is California Gold Nutrition silymarin complex meet the prevention dosage ?
I been taking the seed for years now. Seemed to help my gallbladder issues I have years back. Now, I have no issues. With some diet changes. (Like avoiding peanuts)
You can still have peanuts. Peanuts have protein in them.
As long as you are not smoking while taking milk thistle or drinking while taking milk thistle, you shouldn't have any issues with still being able to see changes while on milk thistle. The only time you are not going to see any changes is if you are not exercising on a regular or drinking water.
@@andrewaddison6270 what does drinking alcohol do with milk Thistle? I don't drink a lot anymore.. but, I do take milk thistle on days I do. (Often days I don't also unless I forget)
@@Sublimer79 You obviously didn't pay close attention to my first comment as well as my second one. Milk Thistle has a whole lot to do with drinking. Milk Thistle aids in getting rid of damage to the liver due to alcoholic usage. I didn't say that you still drink. All simply said was, as long as you are not smoking/ or drinking while on Milk Thistle that's when you shouldn't have any problems with eating peanuts while on Milk Thistle is what I was trying to say.
@@andrewaddison6270 no, I only saw the one. My body doesn't like peanuts. So, I listen to it. I had a tiny bit today. And my skin started itching. So, maybe I have an allergy to something in it. Plus, my stomach felt weird. I was eating a ton more peanut butter at the time I had gallbladder issues. But, still haven't had an issue. Since the last time. So, whatever, I'm doing is working. (I just licked the spoon Bec I made something at work for someone else) I don't normally eat It. And won't next time. It's just harder to clean. 😆
