  • level system breakdown + how to find your hair level and tone.
    key points:
    •american level system= 1-10
    •level measures the lightness/darkness
    •1=black, 10=brightest blonde
    •level is the first number on a color box/bottle, the letter represents tone (example 5R = level 5 with red)
    •meaning of tones on hair color boxes:
    N= Natural (or neutral, contain a balance of warm & cool tones)
    A= Ash
    B= Beige
    G= Gold
    C= Copper
    R= Red
    M= Mahogany
    V= Violet
    •N series is the most commonly used, great for grey coverage (20 volume developer always for grey)
    • When finding your level, take a piece of hair, fan it out, and match it to the color chart. You will assign it a number 1-10, that will be your hair color level.

    Now could you please make a video on how to fix a old cap streak from a box dye kit that was meant to be a 10 ultra light blonde but I panicked and took it off too soon, so it looks more golden orange on a base 5..but my front looks great blonde coz of the grays I guess? Lol thank you for your time and caring about helping us understand these things

    Thank you so much 💜 I have been wanting to color my hair myself because it is long and really thick so it is expensive at a salon. This video explains a lot that I didn’t understand before. Any tips on getting a nice auburn reddish brown that doesn’t look purple? I have neutral dark brown hair that is turning silver grey. Can you explain how to do a root melt at home? Thank you

    Taking your recommendations I bought a 20% developer ...I have a good shampoo...now which lightener do I need to mixin to get rid of a strip of gold ? I am trying to get a strip of gold from a money piece framing my face. Purple toner helps but it is only temporary. I want a shiny silver piece because I am going for a salt and pepper look. What lighter should I buy? I am a 6R (hopefully).... THANK YOU!

    I’ve had highlighted hair for a year and half I have grey hairs which I touch up at the roots every month currently I use Argan oil permanent colour in shades 7N and 6GM with a 20 volume developer to cover the greys now I want to tone my hair to get rid of unwanted highlights that are almost gone can you recommend a toner shade I will be really thankful to you

    My daughter's hair had 5N joico color on it. She went to get highlights and the highlights are orange. What toner can I use to get rid of the orange. I would say the orange highlights fall between a level 6 & 7 . I need help cause it looks terrible. I can post a picture if that would help!

    I made an awful mistake. I had some brassy level 9-10 and some very pale 10. I wanted to rid the brassy and I wasn't sure what to do, so I consulted the Sallys "color specialists". They hooked me up with Wella 7NW and 9NG. I mixed them with a 10 developer and now I'm a level 8 with red/gold hair. It's looks so fake! I'm tempted to do a bleach wash but I've already gone from my natural 1-2 to 9-10 back to a level 8!

    So instead of spending another $300 for a color correction, can i just do it myself at home using permanent color as filler so I don't get green hair when i ho back to brown from my current orange blonde?

    I just bought ion 6nn it's saying it's a dark intense blonde but looking at your color swatches the 6 is showing a brown ?
    I accidentally 🫣 grabbed the wrong box of color out of my drawer that I keep all my coloring stuff in. And.... unfortunately i grabbed the 4nn espresso brown that pretty much looks black. I just did 2 seperated color removing treatments and I think I'm about to do a quick bleach wash. The color remover did remove the black to it. But as I'm sure you already know it's now orange looking. I'm trying to figure out if this 6nn is actually a dark blonde or if it's the color brown like on your swatches. I guess I'm wondering because if it is that color brown instead of a dark blonde I'm assuming I do not need to do a bleach wash since that color brown you showed should cover up the oranges color I have after stripping out the espresso brown/black color?

    • @brittneealexushair
      @brittneealexushair  4 місяці тому

      6NN is typically a darker shade of blonde. I would consider it a brown. If you have fine or thin hair, it will show up darker than it is

    Hey Brittnee!!! My mom's hair is mostly white now at the crown, but when she had her hair dyed the other parts pulled orange when they used a 7n with a 30 volume. She wants to correct that by adding a blue toner as she doesn't like the orange color, but her roots grow out quickly, so does she use the same hair dye combo THEN tone everything or should she just buy a hair dye that will tone everything during that process? If it needs to be the two-step process how long should she wait before toning?

      Interesting and I'm following to see if she replies. I am absolutely no pro but
      Ck out her bleach bath video.
      IMO 30v is too harsh.
      I have lots of gray too

    • @irienerd8178
      @irienerd8178 4 місяці тому

      @@lauracknoll Ty! Mom gets upset when we use a 20v with the 8N or 7N because she swears it looks too dark. She's a pain because she wants it lightish but it pulls really orange so I need to get her toned out. I just don't know if I should do the roots and then tone everything later or if I should just find a color on the same level that will cancel that orange out.

    Hey 🥰 I always use a „11N“ Blonde from Goldwell. What does this 11 mean, when 10 is the brightest? 😅 Lovely Greetings from Germany. 🫶🏼 Love your Videos! ❤️
