I'm excited to try these techniques. We thought we adopted a black German Shepherd, but folks that saw him suspected he is actually a Belgium Malinios. He was only biting and nipping me so that's why I'm here. I will get him into obedience training, but really need to get the biting under control. Thank you for the guidance.

We had a malinois for 13 yrs and LOVED him so much. On our 2nd who's 4 months old. Exercise and work for the dog has been key for us, and consistency. Every person that meets him has to stand up and say no bite every single time he bites even if playful. Always have different toys for them to give them something else to bite. Tennis balls are a huge savior for this dog too. Lastly, we work with him on different commands daily.

To everyone who is saying this video was too long and had too much useless information:
Would you rather have someone take the time to show you how to use a stove, pots, pans, and other cooking tools so you KNOW how to cook or would you rather them just teach you how to make an egg? Funny analogy maybe, but the point is that sometimes its better to pay attention and take the time to learn how and why something works instead of just scratching the surface.

    Many Many THANKS.
It is also good to mention that I've been joining this and that forums and social media groups here in Sweden as well as internationally in order to get some advice which usually end up with rediculing and scornfulness from pepole on the web towards me, some endless and less usefull exercizes with my 3 months old Belgian Malinois Chewie...
I also like the vids that are short and consist which makes it easier to follow up and seek among the lists for specific behaviour corrections.
Now I am going to see if I can find any vids which address the prevention of excessive Barking for territorial or meeting of pepole/cars/bikes/animals/wind.... you name it! And of course it does not show any real sign of aggression but rather uncertainty, at least not yet!😑

I babysit my son’s 10 month old malinois at my house 5 days a week. Today my brother came and the dog has never met him. The dog bit him twice, getting his clothes and not breaking skin. She was barking in a threatening manner and I crated her for safety. She also bit one of their neighbors. So she’s ok with her own “pack” but not with strangers. Not sure what to do with strangers who may come.

I recieved a high energy dog (1 yr old) who was too agressive for an owner's toddler. Along with a bag of hi-pro food, we now were faced with getting nipped every time we got near him. He was needy and desired us yet couldn't curb the "painful" nip! Twice in a couple months we ran out of the hi-pro food and fed him the old beagle's food "fit n trim" (discontinued) and after the second time of just a few days different food we noticed a huge difference, no biting and calmer demeanor. Around that time I watched a court case about a dog that had defaced a child while standing right behind his owner! The lawyer who cleaned up for the child asked the owner did he ever research that dog's food and the agressive behaviour that comes from hi-protein food? He produced proof and we suddenly understood the change in our dog, food change! no more biting! Happier family and he live an active life another 16 yrs! He had a couple years of bad hip pain which we resolved using "the watercure" formula of 1/4 teaspoon extra sea salt per quart of water just added to his gravy every other day! yeah all Drs benefit from low sodium diets!

Hi colleague. I had an argument on my UA-cam channel with one of the viewers. Answer my question - twelve Malinois puppies at the age of 45 days attack me (this is their usual behavior), can I, as a breeder, correct, wean them from attacking my pants? My opinion - while they are all together, this is impossible to do!
On the 62nd day, each of them gets into his new family, from this moment you can start training and socialization ...

Our Malinois has a kitchen kennel, and a bedroom kennel for sleep and resting.
Nova, she is now using her kitchen kennel for sleeping, is that ok? We usually use that kennel for NO toys, and a Bad Girl kennel. She now knows the word bad and will kennel herself until I tell her “let’s go”( obviously Nova is a lot smarter than us). Today, per usual she gets one treat a day, usually morning. I made her sit, down, stay, don’t touch treat and eat it/take it( she understands both) today she tested me and took it without telling her, and nipped me TWICE. I IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED, the situation by yelping ouch really loud and extremely sternly said BAD, and immediately put her in her cage. After I locked her in there, I continued to say “Bad”very sternly. After about 10 minutes or so, I opened the cage… and said let’s go.
WHAT, if anything am I doing wrong? If any? Biting, not even for play is acceptable.

    • @RobS123
      @RobS123 3 місяці тому

"Leave It" is the first thing we taught our 3 month old as it is necessary to get them to drop bad things they pick up in their mouths, to leave another dog or person alone, etc. Next thing is recall, or "Come". Dogs, especially ones like a Malinois, NEED off leash exercise (like the guy says in the video), and you will need them to come back when called. All these involve repeating the commands until they perform the task, and immediately saying "Good Leave It", or "Good Come" followed immediately with a treat. practice often. The first time they do what you ask, it's probably by accident because they don't speak English, but once you tell them "Good" whatever the command is with a treat, they'll learn. I am no trainer, but that seems to have worked with two puppies we've had.

I read you can put some lemon juice on your hands and they'll stop being mouthy right away... I don't remember the source so it's just third hand information. You can't squirt them with the lemon cuz you can get it in their eyes and their noses...
Remember too, that the children get bitten in the face by dogs because dogs communicate with their mouths to establish authority... And usually the dogs are face-to-face height-wise with cruising babies and toddlers.
You may decide to crate your pup or keep it on a leash and never leave it unsupervised around your baby.
My last one was about 8 with my first child and way past the biting mouthy phase...extreme caution is recommended because you can't undo the heartache and heartbreak of having a harmed child and having to put the dog down...

I do feel like my 4 month old Belgian has no respect for me. And I don’t know how to restructure it

Structure, rules, consistency, boundaries, time out, verbal correction & follow through.
Research training with treats and how hungry dogs respond quickly to training... Especially when young. If your dog is full, it has no desire for a treat... So keep your dog a little hungry for training. So you need to watch some good videos so that you can master it and then eventually get them off relying on treats to behave.
One consistent step at a time. Have confidence! (I am not a trainer I have experience with the breed and it's important for you to be the boss of the house the dog or chaos will ensue and you'll all be miserable) dogs love structure and they don't want to be in charge of the house but feel forced to if you don't give them boundaries.

My Mal pup, bites the shit out of me, more than any other family member. I think he loves me the most!!! HAHAHAHAH!!! Not my first Mal, so I am used to their CRAZINESS. My wife wanted us to get a NORMAL dog after our first Mal. NOPE!!!

Why buy a malinois if you're not going to work them? These are elite k9's that need experienced handlers not someone who's going to complain about biting. That's what they're bred for. Find yourself a experienced decoy and start training.
