Gunner is so well mannered! The breeder has done a terrific job with him I had two Malinois back in the early 2000s when I lived in the outer banks. Such good protective dogs. I almost got two more last year but got two Karelian Bear dogs instead. I live in the Appalachians in SW Va bordering WVa and the bears are bad here My dogs are used for deterrents. I had a Dutch Shepherd that was four months old too when I first got him. I remember my first reaction when I picked him up, and it was like yours. I expected a puppy but got a DOG! Being a Dutchy, he was dark-brindle, almost black and his whole demeanor was intimidating, to say the least. At four months! He turned into a massive animal and the most exciting dog I've ever encountered. Dutch Shepherds and Malinois aren't the "same", but both have that aura of "don't mess with me" and my Dutchy was scarily intelligent. He died at nearly 16 and I've never had another dog like him. I did consider a Malinois, hoping he might be a little less intense, but ended up with two Staffordshire Bull Terriers in a row. Can't say I ever regretted that. Staffies are a lot of dog in a small(er) package!
Oh, and let me also say, Joe should know that that little sexy smile that he throws out every once in a while can surely light up a room. You can feel so much of a positive vibe from that it is unreal. And I love how you stimulate him to get him to do just that.😆 show that emotion because we like it out here. U2 are such an amazing beautiful couple spiritually, emotionally , physically, 👊💖
Really great family. Love your handsome Son. God Bless him with the best of health and a long life.. love the puppy. Awesome dogs. The mallinois is a beautiful breed of dogs.. very intelligent.. Iv been watching the breed and they are very protective n full of energy. God Bless you all.. Sorry.. just love the family. Very kind hearted. Joe is a great guy.. you can see his happiness for the puppy..
It looks like you got a relatively mellow Malinois, which is a good thing. A high drive working line Malinois would eat everything in your apartment as a puppy if he wasn't exercised for 2 to 4 hours per day, hard.
We went back & bought his brother as well. Had both now for about 3-4 months. Best breed we ever had. We leave to move to Alaska in 40 days! They’re going to love the property up there. Until then, we take them to the dog park & the lake, etc., almost everyday so they can run & play! They’re great dogs!😊
@@HomeFreeAlaska Malinois are fantastic when you get a good one not too nervy. I still think working line German Shepherds are the best all around protection and utility dog but up there with them is in Malinois working line German Shepherd cross or X malinois. A little more muscle and bone, better looking, and have the nice off switch of the working line GSD.
@@primalcritters completely agree. Own a Mali x GSD & a pure Mali. The Mali x GSD is the best dog I’ve ever owned. Owned lots of dogs over a forty year period)
@@user-cd5up9ph3y same here. As a matter of fact, most of the contracted canines police and military are X malinois X herders. The Dutch don't really admit it, they keep their secrets to themselves, but people in the know know that the working dogs for Patrol specifically are a combination of dutch, belgian, and working line German shepherd. Sometimes they will even outcross with apbt and other Mastiff breeds. Then they will breed back. Fawn is dominant so the dog can look like a Malinois, unless breeding Sable to sable, but they will have more muscle tone, larger heads and larger chest cavities, and a little more stability not as nervy. That's from the working line German shepherd. But they still retain the agility of the Dutch or Mal. Recent stud dog in the Netherlands was outcross to a Presa Canario and then they will breed back. Them people think they'll have a purebred Malinois one day when they come to the states with puppies and it's far from it. Doesn't mean they're mutts, they're very selectively bred working dogs primarily from the shepherd breeds and sometimes extra. For SAR yes, they can use purebreds because they don't need the added size and seriousness that they need for Patrol. Detection is a tossip it can be anything between a purebred working line German shepherd, malinois, or the X herders like I just described. I like them because purebred Malinois are wonderful but they're just a little bit too nervy hyper and too fine boned for my taste, too narrow of muzzles. I think the working line German Shepherd brings great stability, off switch, size and incredible looks. No show lines though! I just wish they would be more specific because lots of people think that the Malinois the only dog used and it's really a Shepherd mix that is used
I just have a warning. My sister in Wasilla AK has one and it wasn’t socialized so is over protective and somewhat dangerous. They are truly beautiful, intelligent and protective. Perfect for country living. Good lunch! Congratulations. OH they LOVE to fetch nonstop!

Just make sure your pup has a purpose!! Great animals, but are definitely likely to be much more than what you're used to. They love and need a job. I saw you've had dalmations, but from what I've seen malis are another beast
Actually these are no different than the Dalmatians we’ve owned. In fact, this breed is better. Way more focused. They have a job and that’s to be our family pet. It’s completely inaccurate to think these dogs can only be used for working dogs. They’re a great family pet. As long as they’re given the attention they need & plenty of exercise, they’re wonderful.
I really like Gunner 👍😍. I totally agree with the 4 months ..that the puppies stay as long as they can with their mothers. I've got my Husky puppy with 9 weeks because suddenly where Covid in the world. Everybody picked up the puppies in panic. That was not good. I wanted to pick him up at 3 months..he's 2 years now and has some fears. 🙄😒 Have a wonderful time with your amazing dogs. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Tina, i am watching this almost 2 years later and its so amazing to see how much Parker has grown! Also, I think Joe is SO handsome without the beard. Since you now have Gunner AND Bradley, when did you go back and get Bradley? Gunner was cute and a very smart pupoy!
Have to say, Gunner is perfect. The breeder obviously did everything right. Tip: get a 40 foot training leash. They allow the dog to explore and run around while still in your control. They are essential for recalling.

I almost got two more last year but got two Karelian Bear dogs instead. I live in the Appalachians in SW Va bordering WVa and the bears are bad here My dogs are used for deterrents. My neighbor a mile away has bear problems on an almost monthly basis, so far I’ve had zero. Congratulations on your new baby! I know you will love him ❤️
Oh wow! Sounds like you have great dogs for being up there in the mountains! I’m really excited (like I said in the video) for us to have Gunner on the Alaska property because we will def have bear & moose right there on/around the homestead. Hoping he’ll deter them the same way! I worry about lil Parker playing outside!
@@HomeFreeAlaska I’m excited for you! I always liked change and moving to new places . If you get a chance ( or you even want to). Check out Fly_ Explores on Instagram. She has Karelians and lives in Alaska. The pictures she takes of her dogs and the Alaskan scenery is just breath taking! Have a great week!
@@donnaward5508 oh ok I will totally check her out! And I agree…I love the adventure of moving to a new place. It’ll be an adjustment for us to stay in one spot now! Lol. We’re used to moving every few yrs!
Thank you for sharing this experience about your new pet and your little roadtrip.
From Grenoble/ France
He’s lovely, I hope you have done your research and are committed.
We wouldn’t have got him if we didn’t! 😉
Oh, and let me also say, Joe should know that that little sexy smile that he throws out every once in a while can surely light up a room.
You can feel so much of a positive vibe from that it is unreal. And I love how you stimulate him to get him to do just that.😆
show that emotion because we like it out here.
U2 are such an amazing beautiful couple spiritually, emotionally , physically, 👊💖
I do love that lil sexy smile of his!😉🤣
They are your Go to dog for protection, best choice ever
Really great family. Love your handsome
Son.
Aw thanks friend. Love your comment, so kind!♥️♥️
Your malinois is really beautiful . He seems very kind. BRAVO ! Congratulations. Christophe.
Thank you so much! 😊
Outstanding choice of K9. You got a winner with Gunner.
And yes I agree they got a mellow malinois. Definitely not a high drive working Malinois
I just wish they would be more specific because lots of people think that the Malinois the only dog used and it's really a Shepherd mix that is used
Wow. These are super high energy dogs and it requires lots of training
Chilled out malinois … Unbelievable ❤❤❤
Amazing, great puppy, enjoy the ride...the ride of a life time, they are amazing!!
I just have a warning. My sister in Wasilla AK has one and it wasn’t socialized so is over protective and somewhat dangerous. They are truly beautiful, intelligent and protective. Perfect for country living. Good lunch! Congratulations. OH they LOVE to fetch nonstop!
Oh, this was such a nice video learning about gunners story. What about Bradley? Can you share about when you got him? ☮️❤️
Hi! Hello! We didn’t have a video dedicated to getting Bradley. But we did introduce him on this video towards the end!ua-cam.com/video/dPxSlQ5iar8/v-deo.html
We fell in love with Gunner right away & thought it would be great for him to have a companion up here in Alaska!☺️
I am so happy for you. I got my Belgian Malinois at 4 months and I absolutely love her. She did need obedience training but unlike a lot of the videos online, my girl is easygoing and very loving. She loves her toys and can destroy one in about an hour. TJMaxx has the best toys. You're going to love your new puppy. Enjoy
Anissa! Thanks so much. Yes, we love this breed! We actually went back and got his brother lol! They are so sweet. And like you said, ours are so loving as well. Very well-mannered. 😊
Hi, just found your channel today. Binge watched a bunch of your videos. Love the new puppy. So well behaved.
Hi Celeste! Welcome to our channel, thanks for joining us! 😊 Glad to have you!
I LOVE THIS DOG FACE, ADORABLE
I've grown up with German Sheppards all my life I'm 50 still have one ...MAL I want one so bad now your boy and family are lucky and will be loved protected the dog / breed has no quit ...like my GSDS don't awesome time for your family
Aww-how sweet! Gunner is such a beautiful dog! I think you all are very smitten with him! 😉 It will be fun to watch him grow, and adjust to Alaska! Congratulations! 🥰🦮
Thanks Teresa! He’s been great so far. Couple accidents…he ate a few of Parker’s toys LOL! So we’re trying to teach Parker, he’s a puppy! Put your toys up lol. He’ll get it eventually. 🤣
@@HomeFreeAlaska it will be an adjustment for all of you! I'm hoping he will be another "protector" for Parker!
What a great puppy! Gunner is a great name for him. I have wondering if Ollie was going to be getting a little brother to go to Alaska with him! I would be less worried about Parker being outside if he has Gunner with him too. Great addition to the family guys, congratulations!! (Going to need some merch with Gunner on it lol!)
Yes! Def need some Gunner merch haha! I do feel much better about Parker in Alaska with Gunner at his side. Especially as Gunner matures, he’ll be even more protective over Parker! 😊
We love our Belgian Malinois! They are the best dogs I could have ever asked for. We have twins. It breaks my heart to say this but we had to put one of the twins down yesterday and my heart is broken. They are 9 years old. You will love them they are very playful dogs and great with kids. Good luck with the new baby! 🐾
Such a cute puppy. Parker has him a new friend.
Yes he does! Super cute to watch them together! ☺️
Congratulations. They’re a spectacularly intelligent breed.
Beautiful country where you’re at. Have many years of puppy love and adventures
Congratulations on Gunner! Gorgeous boy! Love his name. I'm sure Ollie and Gunner will be bff's soon.
Thank you Anita! He's quickly become a part of the family. We're so happy to have him!
I love it,Joe tries sooo hard to not look pleased.
Gunner is very handsome and looks like he will be a very well mannered part of your family. Enjoy him! I have 5 Mali’s two of which are working k9’s (one retired now), they truly are an exceptional breed if you can give them what they need.
Thank you! We went back a month later & got his brother. Had them for almost 5 months now. Love them!
@@HomeFreeAlaska that’s awesome! They will do well together. I really liked his brothers black mask and chest!
Good luck with the new puppy. GET HELP!! 😊
That face and those ears remind me of my Husky mix...... Beautiful dog.
Oh my gosh his a beautiful dog! Congratulations friend 😊
Thank you so so much! ♥️
I'm not a pet person but I was so glad you got Gunner before moving to Alaska. He will be a great guard dog and protect your son while out on the property. He is really a nice looking puppy. Congratulations
Thank you so much! It’s always a little nerve racking getting a new pet, but we were blessed with Gunner! So we’ll-behaved already! ♥️
Such a pretty boy. We also have a Belgian Malinois that we got at 4 months old and is currently 11m old. They are such a smart breed and do require a lot of attention. I love my boy, you will have so much joy from Gunner
We love him so much! We actually went back a month later & got his brother! ♥️♥️
Ohhhhh I absolutely Love your dogs, especially Gunner!!!!!!!
Thank you Louise! ♥️
Yea! Congrats and well wishes with your newest addition. Good choice, he should be just right for Alaska.
Thanks Karen! We’re really happy with him! ♥️♥️
He is so beautiful congrats on finding a great match for the family
Hey Buddy! Thanks so much! 😉
Oh myyyyy goodness, the puppies are soooooo cute!!!
Adorable! So hard not to take both LOL!
I love this so much seeing you get gunner and how well he accumulated so quickly. I always worry about him missing their mom or their brother or sisters but dang that only lasted just for a short minute and then he was right there with the family. “This is my new family now.”😆
I went to see where you also got Bradley, I can’t find that video. Do you have another video of that? And if you could point me in the right direction. thank you hon.
I have really enjoyed watching these two dogs Bradley and gunner together with your family in Alaska they absolutely love it there . anyway, thank you sweetie and have a great day.👊💖
We actually didn’t have a video dedicated to getting Bradley. But we did introduce him on this video towards the end!ua-cam.com/video/dPxSlQ5iar8/v-deo.html
I’m very happy we went back & got Bradley. They are literally BFFs. And being up here on open land like this, it’s nice they have each other as companions!☺️
Congratulations!!!!
Thank you friend! ♥️♥️
What a gorgeous dog!😍 He will be great for the whole family ♥️ ❤️ ❤️
Thanks so much!
@Kakyoin stop it. You’re ridiculous! We even went back and bought his brother! 🤣 They’re awesome dogs. Strong? Yes! But highly intelligent! We have 15 acres of land that we’re moving to in ALASKA, is that enough land? You sound ridiculous. They’re walked, exercised and trained!
Best dogs we’ve ever had! So get out of here with your negativity. ✋
@@HomeFreeAlaska Thank you :). Yeah tbh it probably all depends on the dog and breeding
Have a wonderful time with your amazing dogs. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
What a beautiful pup
He a beautiful dog! Enjoy your new puppy!❤️
Thank you! ♥️♥️♥️
I have that picture hanging in my dining room. The dog is so cute!!
Hi Amy! Which picture are you talking about? I’m looking around my house this morning trying to figure out which one you’re talking about haha! ♥️
@@HomeFreeAlaska the second amendment pic you saw while you were shopping. Love that dog of yours!!

LOL when I first saw your kennel I was like that is too small then you returned it too cute
Right?! Lol…we totally misjudged his size LOL!🤣

You are going to have a very interesting time training this animal😳😳😳😳
Have you seen our recent videos?!?! We went back and bought his brother too. We’ve had them for 2 yrs now & they’re the best, most well-behaved dogs we’ve ever owned.😘
Tina, i am watching this almost 2 years later and its so amazing to see how much Parker has grown! Also, I think Joe is SO handsome without the beard. Since you now have Gunner AND Bradley, when did you go back and get Bradley? Gunner was cute and a very smart pupoy!
😂. We went back a few weeks later and picked him up.
Glad we did, because they are best buddies and would be so board without each other.
Beautiful dog , thinking about getting one. What is the breeders name?
Hi James! We used a breeder in Maryland but he’s no longer breeding. Sorry!☺️
i remember driving 3 hours to go get my zuko same breed looks just like yours , h is 10 months old now and really hi energy cool dog
Have to say, Gunner is perfect. The breeder obviously did everything right. Tip: get a 40 foot training leash. They allow the dog to explore and run around while still in your control. They are essential for recalling.
Thanks John! We will do this for sure! We’ve been working with him everyday & so far he is doing fantastic! Very well-mannered lil pup! 😊
Sweet glad you guys support back yard breeders very ethical!!!
I sense a bit of smart-assness in there? Calm down, you’ll be alright! 😉
Just gotta luv those magnificent ears!! 😍
Hi Tina. I LOVE your dogs! I love dogs and animals period. My question is... What happened to Ollie and how did you come about getting Bradley? I have searched and searched and can't seemed to find the video that would clear that up for me. Will you please just fill me in so I can stop searching. I love the way the two dogs interact. It always makes me smile. They are so cute and so good with Parker.
Hi there! Ollie was actually our daughters dog. Our daughter moved to CA about a yr ago & we were keeping him for her until she got settled and could have him. We shipped Ollie to her last summer. They’re both doing great!🤍 I mentioned getting Bradley at the end of this video here: ☺️ ua-cam.com/video/dPxSlQ5iar8/v-deo.html
Excellent choice! The Best Breed !
We are so pleased with him! He’s wonderful. I think we’re hooked on the breed now! 😊
Hard not to be. I miss mine. They were the best. I never had a worry with them around. I always felt the safest. I am looking forward to your adventures going forward with Gunner. I loved all of your excitement. Blessings to your family 💜
I related we treat our rescued dogs like familly for EVER
Congratulations on your new addition.
Thank you! ♥️
I have a Belgian Malinois very smart Learn very quickly and they are very much super soldier dolls very protective
Yes! We love this breed. They’re fantastic! We went back & got Gunner’s brother too! So we have both brothers now. 😊
Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!
Congratulations, What a gorgeous dog, so pleased for you all , seems like a better bet getting him later at four months ,no potty training needed and so calm but also seems to have natural protection instincts in him . If i may ask where did you get him as he looks so good and well brought up that it could be one on our list of breeders when we are ready to get one .
Hi Tracey! Thanks so much. We actually went back and bought his brother too! So we’ve had both for just over a yr and super happy! We bought them from a breeder in Maryland but he’s no longer breeding unfortunately. Thanks for watching our video.☺️
We have 3 Belgian’s, 2 girls 5 months old and 1 male 2 years old. They are great dogs. Very “loving” can be very destructive.
This whole video had me smiling! 😊
Aw! Thanks Nancy! We love our new pup & went back a month later & bought his brother! Now we have both Gunner & Bradley! ♥️♥️
Lol! Take your vitamins! You will need it!
Good luck, sorry to hear about your loss .....You do know Gunner will be the Boss Dog over all correct?
He’s turned out to be an awesome dog. We love this breed so much, we went back a month later & bought his brother. We now live on 15 acres in Alaska & the dogs are living their best lives!☺️
Thanks for the great video. Is there a video when you got the brother of Gunner, as I just watched one of your newer videos with both of the brothers together. Thanks

Congrats on the new puppy so cute I have a female mixed with boxer and she has the dark snout just has to under bite like the boxers do she’s a very good guard dog but he will be a great addition especially when you move to Alaska and Parker is growing up so fast hope you guys have a great summer together then it will be time to move to Alaska Yay❤️
Thank you Shirley! ♥️ We are so happy with him. Can’t wait to get him up to the open spaces in Alaska! He’s going to love it up there. 🙃
Going to have to get him really trained for Alaska bc being off leash in Alaska bc their prey drive is so high they will end up taking off at any animal. I use a electric collar on vibrate mode with a couple mile range so mine can be off leash safely.
Couple mile range? You gonna zap the dog 2 miles away?
have a safe trip to Alaska
Thank you Jonathan!
