Let's all encourage Wendi to post more videos guys.
haha I'm working on it. There's just 1 of me! :D
This is the perfect video for me !
Thank you Wedi for your giving nature and beautiful soul.
Thank you, happy gardening to you!
You made my day! I'm not the only one who sometimes forgets to label plants 😀. I was actually setting sweet potato slips out and didn't label them before I forgot which was which so I have 5 varieties that I will have no idea of what is what until I lift when this came up. I had to replant most of my ginger this year, going to have to give turmeric a try next year. Thank you for sharing and have a pleasant week.
It's kind of fun to keep you guessing without labeling, but can be a little annoying too when you have lack of space. Lol I still need to plant my ginger! I'm being so indecisive on where to plant...Have a great weekend!
Thanks For Sharing Beautiful Empress 👑 💐
and thank you for watching! :D
Shampoo ginger usually doesn’t bloom it’s first year.
I have ginger, blue turmeric, 8 shampoo gingers and spiral gingers. A friend is sending me galangal, one of her relatives brought it back from Asia (not China).
Here’s to everyone who had shampoo ginger to have some shampoo!
Thanks for letting me know! I hope it will flower this year. What kind of spiral ginger to you have? I have the kind with leaves that have fuzzy bottom. Is yours edible?
@@wendiland don’t remember the type. I pick off the small flowers off the cone. Stuck the nectar out (it’s so good) and eat the flower. I had it at a friends house. She gave me a clump, it has already tripled in a month. Here’s to both us getting some shampoo ginger (several of mine are over a year old).
What a great overview! I've got a common ginger in a pot that was sprouting in my daughter's cupboard
A biologist friend got a myoga ginger last year, to add to his kimchi - we're in zone 8b so harder winters!
Love giving life to something that's sprouting then eventually dying...What's myoga ginger like? I love kimchi and apples together! Haha
Thanks for the tips and congrats on reaching 100k!!! 🎉🥳👏🏼👍🏼🤩⭐️🌠🎇🎆
Thanks so much! Can't do it without you. :D
Wendi, as confined as your grow space is, you sure can pack volume and variety into a small space garden! Many of the plants you grow there are likely too warm for up in these parts. Looking forward to seeing your ginger and turmeric production later in the season. Have had a bit of June Gloom here as well, but the gloom deposited 1.62" of rain over the last day and a half! -Bob...
I hope they will like their new home too! I'm still jumping around to see where each plant like best. Everywhere gets slightly different amount of sun which can make a difference when it's scares. We still got the June Gloom and rain too! The gloom gives me time to catchup transplanting. haha
@@wendiland Here the smoke intensified towards sundown for whatever reason last evening Wendi. Was so strong smelling I thought my smoker was acting up lol!
Congradulations...i see you reached 100k subscribers....omg
Thank you so much 😀
Another great informative videos. I do wonder where to source the other varieties from though 🤔. Never seen any being sold at local gardening places
I got them at plant fairs, and friends and family. When I have enough I'll make them available online. Bakercreek had some Black Turmeric. Sometimes you can check ethnic markets.
My ginger that I thought died came back!
Yay!!! They often come back if the ground didn't freeze, and if it didn't stay cold and wet for too long. :D
Maria (diy)simple life
Beautiful garden ..
Thank you! :)
Which direction does your garden face? I would love to get my alley to be as lush as yours. Love your videos.
It's a south facing patio, but the length runs east and west. If you have a narrow garden with solid walls on both sides you'll most likely have to elevate the growing space to get more light. Otherwise there's lots of great shade loving plants that you can grow! :D
Another wonderful vlog. Question, I noticed you moved from the pot to the soil. Have you ever considered scoring the root base first? Just something I learned from my grandmother years ago.....pros/cons appreciated. 😊
Scoring the root base -- did you mean to sort of break up the root system a bit? I do that when roots get tangled. When transplanting these I just carefully detangled them. haha
@wendiland honestly, I like your approaching better, watching my grandmother score the roots, I felt was to harsh. But she did it only if there was very little soil and almost all roots when remiving it from the container. She said it spurred the plants root base.
Can you make a video on how to grow oleander from cutting 🥺
Is that an ornamental flower?
Thanks so much! I did not see any link(s) for the plants in description, where is a good place to get these?
I don't currently have them available at my online shop yet. These plants were acquired from various places -- plant fairs, friends, etc. Can start with farmers markets. Sometimes you'll see unique things that would grow well in your climate.
✋Wendi thanks can you dry the rhizomes with the skin on it to powder it,2 the worm tower has to be black pipe or can it be the white pvc? Thanks for all the information on your videos much help thanks again 👍
hello! You can keep the skin on to dry and powderize. Worms like dark space, but the worm tower would be buried so the color won't matter. Happy gardening!
Bonjour, Comment différencier un plan en fleur de curcuma comestible et un autre de curcuma d'ornement svp? Je viens d'en acheter un chez Aldi mais la variété n'est pas précisée. Merci bien.
Hello, it would be very nice of you to add latin full name af all those different species of Ginger, Curcuma, Galanga or else to be sure not to make any mistake while identifying all of them. Cheers ...
I have shampoo ginger, it didn’t bloom last year,
Someone here mentioned they don't blame the first year so hopefully this year they will for us! :)
