I always have a special place in my heart for 69 Wildcats. The very first car I had, was a 2 door hardtop. Man could that car haul. Thanks for saving the old beast. I love it!
I love this stuff. Bringing old back to life and with simple bits and pieces. Just got done watching Rich Rebuilds and his fisker and the trials and tribulations of a dead modern EV. What a nightmare. Simple mechanical can always be repaired. Computer on wheels, maybe, but not without a lot of time and effort. Thanks for the resurrection video 👍. Looking forward to the detail.
SO Happy someone changes the Oil and Filter B4 starting the engine after all those years.....good for you....can't imagine most of the others don't.....
I'd be willing to bet after you really do a deep clean inside and out its going to be a beautiful amazing car. I love the front end on the 69. Interior looks amazing just terribly dirty. That car should be a keeper. Even the chrome on bumpers looks amazing. Can't wait to see it cleaned buffed and polished. Great find. Love you guys
Good Lord! That left front tire is a fright! Thanks so much for this video. I truly enjoyed it. I love the '69 and '70 full-size Buicks. (truly full-size) And it's a handsome car too. One real nice thing about the car you have here and the '70 models is it was the last year for the traditional strong chassis. In '71 GM removed structural bracing in the firewall area (as I recall) from all of their full-size cars. And as a result, the '71'-'77's GM full-size cars then exhibited a flexing looseness in the frontal chassis. And the solidity we knew of GM full-size cars was gone. GM still made nice full-size cars, but they were cheapened, and it could be felt in the driving. Drive any '70 GM full-size car, then drive a '71, and the difference is noticeable.
"It's not a perfect car." What? It's a diamond in the rough! You and Dad have another winner here, in my humble opinion. It reminds me of my '68 Electra.😀👍
The only youtuber with common sense about the oil... it's had 25 years to settle to the bottom! Perfect time to drain it.. not "let's get some heat into it so all the oil gets to the bottom" WHAT!? thanks for being a real one
there will always be a few exhaust valves open to the atmosphere while stationary and could have been open to the air for decades. inevitable that a few plugs will show a little rust. nice to see someone taking the time and trouble to do a little preparatory work before cranking the engine over for the first time in decades. especially the oil change and filter. i've never been convinced by those that pretend it doesn't matter.
Im shocked by the way this Buick Wildcat came out ! Such an awesome video of hard work and determination to bring this beauty back to life ! That's A true gem of yesterday in classic four door fashion with A bench top front seat ! The details you put I to the interior was great ! I would be proud at the age of64 to drive that daily ! Parking it far enough away from all the aholes would be the biggest issue ! I'd be so pissed if someone door dinged it ! Im shocked the paint held up as well as it did !
Love this vid. Pretty amazing to see the detail you go into here. As a 69 Wildcat (convertible) owner my dream/goal is to learn how to better take care of my gal. This video ticks many of the boxes I need! Well done and thank you!
Had a 68 Wildcat, 430 V8. Moved pretty good for a big ride. Wish I still had it. Can you imagine a little increase in cubes, a cam and some head work? Damn.
I totally agree with you. As much respect and admiration that I have for Derek Bieri, I disagree with his philosophy of running old oil before changing it, in hopes of “flushing” junk down into the pan. Like you said, the heavy stuff has already settled to the bottom. Any goop that’s still up in the oil passages is unlikely to just flush out and make its way back to the pan; more likely to just catch more goop that tries to get through. Why clog-up the sump and force the poor oil pump to try to get that junk back up topside, where it will encounter so many horizontal surfaces that it can get caught in.
@@1776_Garage Absolutely he knows what he’s doing. But that doesn’t mean everything he does is correct. I got a 69 Buick Wildcat story for y'all.. Many years ago, these 2 guys, who weren't car educated nor mechanically inclined, were working on their brother's BW. Had engine issues. Ignition, timing, carb probs, who knew (although I knew, lol). Anyway, one guy's turning the key, while the other stood over the engine, his head DIRECTLY over the open carb. The Wildcat fired, trying to catch fuel. A large fireball vomited from the carb, setting dude's hair on fire. That's like sucking on the end of a loaded shotgun! The whole spectacle was like watching a cartoon or the Three Stooges. "Carb guy" survived, but after that, his head looked like a bowling ball wearing a Hula skirt for awhile.
Agh...back in 9th grade was working on our dodge van (2bbl 318), looking down the carb it backfired... Man did I get made fun of...took a good month for my eye brows to grow back...

You are a brave man driving the dirty car down the road with hardly any visibility. lol always enjoy your videos! ❤ I’m excited for the next one. Thank you for your hard work and sharing it.
I just sold my 69 Wildcat a couple years ago. It was originally my grandfathers and kept indoors most of its life. He was a frugal Montana rancher so it didn't have the A/C and power windows but he sure loved his Wildcats. I loved that car and really enjoy seeing you work on that beauty. I'm sure with the long semi exposed storage that one has had the last few decades it will have some challenges, but once you get it up and running you will love how that car floats along the highway. That big 454 engine will gobble gas fast enough for you to watch the needle on the fuel gauge move as you drive if you really want to get it up and running hard. I will be fascinated to see your series on getting this cat back on the highway.

I just LOVE this cars!! I had a 68 Olds 98. Loaded when I was 19 years old back in the late 1980's! The engine was perfect but the electronics were just ruined by someone before me.
