I scroll all at once btw just let it rip! It takes some practice bc it’s so random but once you get used to it you’ll be a pro
Isn't the boost dependant on frames as well, apparently 144 frames is minimum in order to skate effectively

Also be sure to uncap your frames. Having a higher framerate increases the frequency that your scroll wheel can actually make inputs.
Or cap your frames high for consistency

Really solid and concise intro to Warlock skating tech! Thanks a ton for this. I know it's a bit more niche nowadays, but if you could do a matching video about Titan skating, that would be amazing; it feels a lot more finicky to get fast with it and I'd love some techs for it.

its also FPS dependent; super easy +100, hard and inconsistent on/under 60, very hard or impossible under 50
probably has to do with how many jump inputs you can put like you can only do 1 per frame

@@NomTheDom lol i got a rx 580 and i get 90+ fps consistent, you can have a $2k pc but if its poorly built and optimized it'll run worse than a 600$ pc built by an expert
Yay! Some next level movement techniques right there! Now I can deliver my body for enemies to shoot at, even faster!
For people that are struggling with the actual jump part: each "click" of the scroll wheel activates the jump. So you want to move it so the frequency of the clicks is ideal to the jumping.
I think one of the hardest binds to build muscle memory on was scroll wheel jump and getting my weapon switching off my mouse and onto my keyboard. Thankfully I had lots of practice with scroll wheel jump in Apex so it didn't take me long to adapt in D2. Great video Wallah!

I love these guides I wouldn’t mind a whole tutorial/teaching mini series of tips and tricks, I still haven’t figured out how to animation cancel trip mines when I’m throwing them like I see you do all the time
I believe you can do it with just about any grenade animation, what I do is switch (or double switch) weapons as soon as I throw the nade

yeah anything'll be a learning curve once you realize you don't get to smash your forehead on space to torpedo into the orbit on a stompee hunter

I find doing this on stairs are more consistent as you scroll jump near the top of the stairs, while on slopes it feels like you have to scroll jump near the bottom of the slope

You have to be > 110-120 fps to be able to do this consistently. The higher the frames the faster you go too.

higher fps does weird stuff to the physics engine. If you use lament with really high fps, 200+, you will float off the ground when attacking a target if you spam the combo too quickly.

I see you do something similar with doorways and hunters, is there anything equivalent with titans? I know titans can already just.. titan skate.. but have you found it gaining insane velocity off of any surfaces like this?
You can't really do this much on hunter but with dunemarchers, this is the same with titan but you do in jump pulses of 3 with the scroll. With hunter, if you stompees strafe jump and bump your head on a ceiling youll get some forward speed

It’s true I figured it out and it has made my warlock gameplay much much better especially shotgunning
You have to mention the most important fact, you need uncapped around 240 frames for high speeds like this. In destiny the faster your FPS is, the further you'll glide this is just spagetti code, but it works and its what pve speedrunners do, go upto 300 frames just for world record runs, you'll see the warlock skating there is impeccable. Issue is, most players probably play at 120-140 fps so they can practically never reach these speeds, because of not high enough fps.
I am fairly certain no one is playing destiny 2 at 300+ fps for one even a 3090 would not get u that much. Also destiny 2 is not optimized that well with fps drops each season/DLC. I see most streamers in pvp get around 170-220fps. Like I know Benny has a 30 series Nvidia GPU and he gets like 190-200fps. Pretty sure he also has a really good CPU as well.
@@cowilo_ Well 300 is only something speedrunners use on all lowest, but the biggest gain in speed is above 200, most people don't play anywhere near this fps so simply cannot go as fast.

idk if this will mean shit for anyone, but whenever i want to practice warlock/titan skating, i got to "Beyond" on Europa (where the stranger is), that area behind her was made for skating practice. it's literally ice... it's as if the developers knew a relatively large, relatively* flat piece of land with no mobs and nothing to do would be useful to practice with

It all depends on the length of the staircase/hill you want to skate up. Since you dont have much control over your jumps with the scrollwheel input, you will sometimes end up in a glide, and sometimes end up in a fall. If you notice that you did get a good speedboost, you can either choose to stay in the glide, or fall to the ground and immediately jump again, to transfer the momentum into that jump again. Training is the real key here, you can do it!

I have a solid gpu and was wondering why I wasnt getting above 90 FPS. Didnt realise I had n FPS cap on now im hitting the 140 as a minimum lol. Its slowly working just getting the timing right
Note: Your frames cannot be capped for this. It won't work with frame rates like 60, 90, 120... you have to be in the 140's to start seeing results worth using this tech.

@@atuvi6 you wont see it in this video. but go to his gameplay videos and watch. a good example can be seen in his latest video with suros regime. time stamps in that video 1m44sec and another example at 2min37sec and again right after at 2min43sec. ive seen more then one player do it. its a rapid left/right movement with the mouse before aiming on a target or looking through a door way.

Watch wallah’s last video on this. He makes a very clear explanation. Like. It can’t be anymore clear. When you get it down, you will get more consistent at it over time.
Soooo on controller you need a strike pack or modded controller
FPS is really important for this, if you cant maintain 100+ then it becomes much harder
Having a low mobility stat is also good for warlocks since you're closer to the ground you'll go a bit faster.
He's on 8 with a lightweight weapon so +2. Don't spec low mobility if you want to go fast.
@@Granger744 that’s 100% correct I wasn’t clear in my wording sorry. Mobility does increase the strafe and movespeed, same goes for the lightweight frame.
However, lower mobility increases the speed at which you can warlock skate specifically. Since warlocks horizontal-glidespeed increases as you get closer to the ground mobility only affects your movementability vertically(so up and down) which you don’t want since you will get further up from the ground. Having a lower mobility stat will make sure you’re closer to the ground while gliding. Hence giving faster skatingspeeds.
But yes, you’re movementspeed while strafing and shorthopping will be drastically lower. :)

feels weird having my uncharged melee and my jump bound to mouse wheel, but it isn't too bad so far.
You can use normal space bar for jump, but when you wanna go ZOOOOOMIN, just use the scroll wheel, you can dibble bind it, put the scroll wheel in the second box
