i’ve been telling people forever about popping heat rises before dawn blade so dashing uses less super. not very many people know this and i’m glad you included it and reached many more people than i could.
I've been playing for years and consider myself a hardcore endgame player, yet, never bothered with well skating because it looked too complicated and I could get around fast enough for most things. This guide is hands down the best I've seen and gave me that little boost I needed to try it out. Looking forward to trying it out in RoN and just to have some fun. Thank you!
One thing I’ll add is that with boots of the assembler you can get noble rounds for lumina on demand for grappling onto them which seems a little niche but could prove good for traversing large gaps on strand lock without any enemies near you
I play claw on controller and this helped a ton…for ppl on controller I recommend playing with paddles or learn claw… basic hand placement won’t be enough
Thanks so much for this. I think I knew most of these except strand but its nice to have an updated guide with all current tech to share with newer players or people interested in movement. Seeing movement players dominating the WF race was pretty inspiring. I was still grieving the loss of 2nd Dash and old Eager and that race was really good for speed enjoyers
Best movement vid. Finally learned to well skate and a number of other things as a veteran player. I've added it to it's own playlist so I can comment and you've got my subscription
I dont wanna hate on anyone elses videos cause they are informative and helpful but damn. you make the other guide making channels look like a joke. with the editing, explanations, and the step by step process you explain a lot more in depth compared to others. thanks for the video :)
@@tacofraud since you're here , might as well let you know that i've been playing the past hour ( since i commented ) and been practicing and i damn near got this shit down perfect. only because of u :)

~~~Ahhh, thank you for this VERY informative video. I see I have some practicing to do, I'm on console, but I get cha'. I used to game on a PC, too many buttons to push. But you guys seem to prefer it. I doubt that I will use ALL the techniques, but will definitely keep them in the back of my brain. Again thanks for the video. This is one that I will definitely put on save.~~~
Of the things you showed, that at 13:29 is the most complicated thing I can do, I can't do well skating. But that's because I'm not a Warlock main (Warlock is my least played class) and because I'm on console, Warlock movement on console is definitely possible, but not as good as on PC, because warlock movement comes down to timing, the timing that's possible on PC is only possible on console if you're a pro warlock player That's why even that isn't as fast as if a PC player would do it, but hey, I can do it and that's enough for me And I had practiced well skating, I could do it quite often in season 19, but I forgot again, just stick with shatter skating i guess When I already speak about console timing and shatterskating, I managed to do ground skating once on hunter, was a moment of success, even if it was only once
Thank you for the very helpful guide! Just a suggestion for an exotic to use this season bc of the double firebolt grenades perk from the artifact - Eye of Another World with T10 discipline and firebolt grenades gets your grenade back in about 25 seconds, allowing you to easily chain 3 Heat Rises together.
I've gotten 6 heat rises grenades in a row by using T10 disc, EoAW, and triple kickstarts. Any additional grenade Regen buff will probably make it infinite
fantastic video man i was trying to help a friend learn movement tech and most of the videos are so... unorganized or unclear which here is not with the amazing timestamps you kindly provided, you can tell with the quality of the video you took quite a bit of time and effort into it but it came out great! keep it up and thank you
I think I remember hearing about this from an old blink video, maybe by TDT, but I think you can manipulate the angle/trajectory of blink a little more by moving your camera/mouse as well. That is, to go higher with blink or to just gain a little more height at any angle you look up at the end of the blink. Another use for this is if you blink into the ground look up with the camera as you hit the ground downward to break fall damage. I’ve been using blink almost exclusively in PvP since season 13 and I’ve abided by this principle not knowing if it’s factual or not lol; it might be the good subject of a myth buster style type video
21:43, im surprised more people aren't taking advantage of this especially considering how many builds utilize heat rises for the melee and increased pheonix dive rest, especially considering how easy it is to refresh the heat rises timer on top of warlocks already cracked ability loop, you just get your second icarus dash back for free which is cracked for rain of fire making tsteps obsolete, considering its also faster than burst glide
I don’t know if you didn’t want to mention or you just didn’t know, but using the strand super from a heavy eager edge can get you through pushback barriers.
AH THis is Excellent, everywhere I go its all Hunter this and Hunter that. Apperently Ive been applying these without knowing but I can practice. Now I have to find a way to beat titans and Hunters in pvp And ill be happy
snap skating especially in pvp really helps get places much faster than anyone expects you to. Sometimes I'll just zip by someone in a 2v1 so I'm behind them while my teammate is fighting them and I'm going too fast for them to shoot me
@tacofraud any tip to go higher with well skating? i have 100 mobility and transversive but in when i try the well skate bounce part at 17:37 in the same spot as u i go a little lower than u and that doesn't make me pass the gallery
for that particular bounce, need to have very fast JUMP inputs, like a rapid double tap of jump like i did in that clip. if you have 100mob and transversives u should be able to get it
nice guide! quick question regarding snapskating: i play on controller and use a button bind variation of bumper jumper (super is x, nade is r1, uncharged melee r3 and charged melee right on dpad) and it simply wont let me perform this. it doesnt flash the melee icon either when i press super. if i switch my setup to the standard button layout it works every time. even adjusting the buttons so that i have any combination of auto melee/active melee/uncharged melee + super cast on the same button wont let me perform this. if i place every melee option + grenade + super on the same button it works again but also throws a nade everytime. is there anything controller players can do to incorporate it into gameplay?
@@tacofraud I don't have a link right now but the slide jump that you can do with Incinerator Snap also works on Strand and Stasis. Interestingly you don't need melee energy on Strand but for the other two you do.
Heavy ground skate light attack, heavy attack doesnt work. When I throw my heavy attack.. im losing all the speed and momentum from the first swing. Tips?
does eager edging between the jump and a blink actually inprove the blink distance? half the time i swear it does and half the time it doesnt seem like it.
depends on speed of inputs btwn eager and blink, the faster you activate blink the faster you can carry the momentum of the eager swing. if you wait too long, the eager speed flatlines and you won’t get as much speed
17:12 Or you could use strafe glide as it effectively changes to burst glide with heat rises active Edit: I see you covered it later, good man, all bases covered as far as I'm aware
hey @tacofraud why is it that most speedrunners if not all and some other highskill players use default keybinds, does it have some kind of advantage over custom keybinds?
all preference based. these are the controls i have been speedrunning with for over 3 years and they work for me -- i have friends who use scroll wheel for weapon swaps instead of number keys for example. Default air move (X) is also very general because of how close it is to space bar.
Hey, thanks a lot for your movement guides. I was training your previous videos and you release a new one updated, awesome. But I had a little question, how do you go to this big flat location? It looks like nessus, but how to get there? Have you a guide maybe?
it’s fps based. if you have infinite scroll wheel the game cannot register inputs that fast, so you need to test yourself and find what speed of scroll wheel inputs per second you need to climb the slope
for me i scroll wheel 4-5 times per roll of my finger, and i do that once every .75s i would say -- those inputs are evenly spaced, maybe 6-8 times per second for my fps then (~144)
