      Hi Sean, I agree, it took but a second to see that the aquascape from that side looked so much more interesting and natural. 👍🏻😊

    Some GSP to cover the back overflow with it sideways would look good

      Hi Ozzman, Agreed, I started doing that before I broke this tank down. That may be the first coral in the tank😃👍🏻

      Hey Madmartigan, I’m not a fan of completely covering a wall, but a little natural looking amount to grow where the over flow box is, could look ok. But JMO. 😊

    I like the tank side ways better too!!! As for par, out of curiosity u should have tested it with the glass lid and condensation on it. I have heard before ppl get hot spots because the bubbles can act like magnifying glass. I have glass lids and melted a small bunch of zoas. I noticed they were under a weird purpleish light through the droplets.

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Hi FP, interesting? The droplets act as possible magnifiers. Maybe I’ll retest when I see a lot of condensation building up. See what I get. Thanks 👍🏻

    Hey man, thanks for answering all my questions. Idk if you recognize me popping up here and there but you helped give me confidence and advice with my mandarin who is doing really well (and my copepod tanks are full of pods:))
    I was wondering if you think a sunrise dottyback and one ocellaris clown would do well in a 6.5 gallon cube. I have the dottyback coming Nov 1 and would like him to have a buddy but I don't know if I should just stick to the one fish in such a small tank. It's 12x12x12 inches. Thank you!

      Hi Nick, I’m glad to hear you are learning from the channel. And yes, I do recognize you popping up with questions😃happy to hear your mandarin is doing well. And, No to a sunrise dottyback in 6.5 gallons. Even alone wouldn’t be recommended. They need a larger tank. They can get aggressive with other fish in small tanks also. Good luck👍🏻

    Looking good. Question, won’t the glass top impact your ph? Just curious.

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому

      Hi Kenneth, thanks, it could, I haven’t tried this before. I’ve seen some Nano tanks at World Wide Aquarium do this, but they never talk about ph with tanks with lids. So, it is experimental. Remember, ph isn’t so much about oxygen as it is with CO2 transfer. The lid isn’t completely sealed, so let’s see what happens. I’ll test in a bit. 👍🏻

    I was running 2 of the aqua knight a029’s on my 40 gallon breeder and things just don’t look as happy as when it was all setup in the 20 gallon long. So I’ve ordered 2 of these kessil a80 tuna blues. I have high hopes.

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Hi Ross, the A80 are a nice light. Great spectral quality and fantastic shimmer. Depending on what you are keeping, don’t be afraid to keep them close the the water surface. If you can par test, that will help you with how high for low you can put them. My educated guess is lower to the water surface will benefit. Good luck

    Ive got a 15 gallon colmum tank and im trying to do a similar tower scape. Do you have it touching the glass anywhere or just the bottom?

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  2 місяці тому

      Hi Raj, if you cement the rock so it’s free standing by itself, and fits, then you can stand it without touching the sides. However if you can’t do this, try and adjust the rock so that they touch sides in as few places as you can. 👍🏻

    Hi Tom please update on vinegar dosing.. Did it work or not

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Hi Samie, it was a bit hard to determine nitrate reduction from the vinegar alone because of frequent water changes. However, I did notice the tank to look more healthy and colorful. Maybe a longer term experiment would show better results. 👍🏻

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Hi James, I may try an A60 eventually. They’re quite a bit more expensive, however, they are a really nice light. Probably quite a bit more penetration in depth👍🏻

      @@TOMReefer yes you’re right. They are a little pricey, but they are the same dollar amount as the AI prime. I think the kessil os more user friendly. It’s more less plug and play. Other then the AI Prime. That you need a Computer for or download software.

    • @TOMReefer

      @@davidjennings7656 hi David, 30” is quite a spread for one light. That’s why I recommended 2. Each light, at the proper distance from the surface will give about 18” of spread. So one of any spot type light will not be enough spread. If you raise it to high above the water, to accommodate more spread, you will lose your PAR. If your on a budget, get 2 KessilA80 tuna blue.
