@@TOMReefer I went back to your older videos because I made a mistake, and my calcium is over 500 and dropping my alk fast. So I'm supplementing kalkwasser until the calcium levels lower.

Hey Tom, love how your tanks are doing, I just decided to use my 5 gallon and turn it into a frag tank, maybe you’ll soon have to make one as well with all your corals. Question for the next Wednesday water change.
•How high do you let your TDS levels go before changing the RODI cartridges ? I haven’t been able to find a clear answer online, thanks, keep it up.
Hey I.M JR, yes, tanks are looking crispy 😃 and you are right about frags, Xenia, Kenya, pocillopora, all grow very fast! Your question. I have a TDS meter, and keep one DI color change resin package on back up. As soon as my meter changes from 0 to 1 I change the DI resin. The membrane I I’m annual. But that all depends on how much water you are filtering. So, manufactures recommendation would be your best bet on the membrane. The sediment filter, I change when I see it starting to get a slight yellowish color. The carbon, I change about once annually. Remember the bottom line is the end result, which should be zero. If you’re not changing your membrane, sediment filter, or your carbon filter enough, you may notice your DI resins life will shorten. But 0 is the goal. 👍🏻😊
@@TOMReefer Aweome, thank you so much mate, I use a different system but it also comes with a Color Changing DI Filter Cartridge and I love it , I already order a new one because I wasn’t sure, but my TDS just started reading 2, I have it connected to my ATO so it’s constantly running although not much water evaporation. I just started with a small xenia colony and they’re thriving for the first time, never had luck with them before, Thanks again man, always super helpful.
I’m aware it’s different for every aquarium but I have a aquarium with a similar bio load and around the same size aquarium so about how much kalkwasser do you put in your ato reservoir ?

Tom reefer I have a question for you. When you prepare your water for water Wednesday do you match the PH as example Dosing capsicum and alkalinity before you change out your tanks water?
Hi Alphawolf, no, my salt mix is always the same as my tank water when mixed. I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals.
So then what ph are you chasing?
I really don’t chase one, it just always 8.2 - 8.3. My salt mix is 8.2, DKH 9. And that’s my tank water just before changes
I use the same salt but my ph always seems to change from 7.8 to 8.4 all the time even with an air stone and marine buffer.
You mean your tank water is 7.8 and it rises to 8.4 after you add the salt water?
How do you keep nitrates so low in the pico between water changes??
Hi Kyle, could be a few things, right now, my bio load is small. I feed sparingly, and the tank is new. Not too many accumulated organics. I do weekly water changes like this. If your Pico is high, and you have a sand bed? Vacuum it😊👍🏻do 100% changes a few weeks in a row. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
How much kalkwasser do u add to the nano 3 gallon?
Hey Naz, 1 gallon will only dissolve 1/2 per gallon, if that. I would use 1/4 teaspoon per gallon to start. Measure calcium after a week. 👍🏻
If you want to the aquarium to share water why not put make a manifold or y-splitter on your existing pump and put it up to the pico aquarium?

Tom I noticed a few times you keep telling us your salinity is at 0.025? Don't you mean 1.025?
Haha, you caught that 😃 I even let it sneak by on a graphic. I saw it after I uploaded to UA-cam Just me confusing the numbers. I know it’s 1.025, I’m mixing my numbers up, from other test figures. I should bring it up next vid👍🏻thanks just my brain not as sharp as it use to be. My spelling is horrible too. Always checking that. Thanks for telling me. If you caught it I’m sure others have so I want to make sure they understand. Haha.
