Michelle's vocals actually add a lovely new layer to their sound which works really well. Glad to see Lee getting more solo vocal time too.
Lee was only replacing Lisa singing her vocal part of this song as she was not able to be there for the performance. In the usual regular version, Lee has only backing vocal contributions unfortunately...
Glad im not the only one who noticed Lee was enjoying himself more, definitely their best live performance

The choreography was not toned down due to Michelle, she is a club girl known in the 80s for her dancing and being a master voguer. You should also check out Michelle’s live performances on the Werq the World tours.
Yes, Lisa is in Dubai and couldn’t fly over due to COVID travel restrictions. I was so happy Lee got to sing Lisa’s solo lines in her absence and Michelle stuck to what she was given in the collaboration single recording. And no, the moves aren’t subdued for Michelle, this dance routine is actually based off sign language! And then, all live! Amazing stuff.

Loving the single though and have to say Michelle manages to do what Lisa is usually unable to do and that is sing in tune.
It's a brilliant song though. I'm 40 so I was just out on the gay scene when steps came out and have always loved them. People like to hate on them but always know the words when a song comes on.

Steps said in a special message before the video premiered that the moves have been geared more towards sign language gestures in favor of the bigger elaborate "Steps" moves....also this is to be included in a whole brand new 10 new song album to be released 11/09/2021 "What The Future Holds Part 2" ...so I'm SUPER excited about that news!!! (Fyi, they just released an "Acoustic" version of this song on all platforms") and yes she is now "Michelle from Steps" :)
Steps saved 2020/2021 for sure. The album is absolutely everything and a bag of chips. Father's eyes is my all time fave song!

I actually don’t think people would mind six of them. Michelle is very talented and could even cover for lisa when lisa can’t leave her family. Like a part timer 😃😻
I think Lee did such a fantastic job. He's really stepped up his game vocally speaking. Obviously everyone else was fantastic to but I was very impressed by Lee's improvement.

Lee stole this one for me. Love his voice, I wish he'd be given more solo parts in their songs. Also their simplified dance moves are because I believe they said they are sign language (I don't know sign language so I can't be sure) but they said it in one of their lives.

Lisa couldn’t make it from Dubai to London due to COVID that’s why she is not present but we missed her so much anyway, Michelle did a great job instead and we are so proud of this collab.

i really enjoyed this live performance esp with lee having a solo line and michelle's inclusion , i too missed lisa very much, this new versiion of heartbreak will be on what the future holds pt. 2 coming out in sept.. a whole new album with 10 new songs.. the official video is nearing 1/2 million viewa in the last 3 days so this is shaping up to be a big hit for them
Lee has a really good voice, it’s a pity he isn’t more prominently featured. I know his range is a bit lower than the others but he does a great job with Lisa’s part even though he only seems to jump in on certain parts of this song. I’d like to see him do a duet with Lisa just to mix things up a bit.

I love this song and am so impressed with Michelle. Sadly I hadn’t even heard of Steps until their video with Michelle came up on my UA-cam page. Maybe I haven’t heard of them because I’m in Canada.
Steps were massive in the UK in the late 90s and early 00s, they actually got a lot of ridicule for being cheezy, and radio stations almost never played them. But steps didn’t care and never played up to the media at all (they’d be very unsuccessful today lol) - but they actually proved time and again that they were credible with their chart results (7 or 8 top 3 albums and I think maybe 3 of them got to number 1) along with 14 top 5 singles - a feat only bettered by the Beatles apparently.
Oh get onto Spotify and check them out!! They were on of the biggest groups in the 90s! Nothing short of amazing

The dance moves will be explained on the OfficialSteps channel at some point soon. As it was made easier for people who are deaf.
When you see the "Heartbreak in this city" moves, where the crossed hands then separate, hands then move down & the right hand moves out, then sweeps back into the middle, that is the official sign language for Heartbreak in this city!
If you liked Michelle you should react to "poor unfortunate queens". It's a cover of poor unfortunate souls but has been dragified, Michelle does amazing in that!
Actually I don't recall lee having a solo line in the original but he did in this live version and it's good that the group has given him more solos over the last few albums cuz he does have a great voice😊
Actually due to Lisa not being able to be there for this performance, Lee got her solo part of the song as in the original, he does not have a solo unfortunately...
I heard that they used sign language for some of the moves that's why they may look unusual.

Absolutely smashed it! I love how we can hear the upper harmonies on this version in the chorus (which I think is Faye?), also her high note towards the end of the middle 8 is just amazing! All of the voices blend so well together here.

i noticed something particularly interesting about lee's vocals.i will try to explain. aside from the solo lines each one sings there are many times when h is singing and lee is not. it seems he would sing at the same time as h joins in with the overall sound. this happens so many times its hard not see it and wonder why isnt he singing along? he eventually joins in but why isnt he coming in at the same time that h does? it is great he gets to sing alone since lisa was not there. re-look at this and let me know what you think thank you
