I was/still am a massive fan of the first Overwatch. Despite that fact, I have never bothered to download or play Overwatch 2 and I never will, really sad. The first Overwatch kind of started to go downhill March 2018-ish, around the time Brigitte released, she broke the entire game and Blizzard had to rework much of it so she could fit and not be as op as she was. Coupled with the pathetic Overwatch League, that had much of their attention. Even though the first Overwatch went downhill, it was still really fun to play, occasionally. I was hyped when Overwatch 2 was first announced, then the development went silent for the longest time, then it popped back up again and I had already lost interest. What a tragedy to an otherwise big initial success.
I feel the same way If they would release ow1 but without the rolequeue and some of the characters i consider poorly designed like wrecking ball, moira and all the newly added characters from ow2 Then i would gladly play that again
But lets be honest Valorant is a sht shooter, everybody can Headshot which means most kills are onetap and the movement + abilities make the game insanely clunky. It has the same problems as overwatch and both communities are insanely delusional.
Not only that, they never charged extra for any feature or dlc or put paid cosmetics on the game. You get free vr access if you have a vr rig, every expansion is free to all new and old players and they even allowed free next gen upgrades. Blizzard literally delete the game you bought, remove features and slap a 2 on it and told you to buy a 20$ battlepass each season going forward if you want to play.
Same with ffxiv devs. Ffxiv was horrbile at launch but now,its arguably the best mmo out there. Devs like these are a treasure to the gaming community. Blizzard however continues to show how worse things can get day by day.
For real. They also had to make a fool of themselves due to higher up pressures (Sony I believe) and mismanagement of resources and expectations, but they actually stuck around to fix their game. I think this level of commitment is impossible in AAA studios like Acti-Blizz. The company would need to be motivated for passion for the games, instead of the greed-fest these companies are.

Yep. Game was unbearable without role queue as whatever team that could manage to put together a comp that had both tanks _and_ healers would almost always win against the one that didn't, but because OW rewards one tricking everyone is incentivized to stay on their main - so you get 4 DPS mains, one tank that's a Roadhog, and your clown ass as the only healer. Whatever team could beg its way into a a 2-2-2 would win. Like yeah long queue times sucked ass but fast queue times for an even more toxic, shitty match just weren't worth it. And it made the one trick issue way less obnoxious since they weren't screaming at each other on mic to change to a tank or healer, so you could more often focus on your main and improve without feeling like you're throwing the match because you're the third DPS main on your team. But when teams can't even manage to agree to a comp, having randoms organize actual team plays is just too much to ask. OW is extremely fun playing with premade teams of randoms you absorbed into the collective when you queued without a full stack, because you can all learn together how to do a push or exploit Zenyatta's damage orb or use Mei to split the enemy team and then have Rein charge to smash for a pick and then mop up the rest of the enemy. Trying to do anything that makes OW unique and fun in solo queue is fucking unbearable.
@@Helmic It's an issue introduced purely because they wanted to make OW more competitive by removing the freedom of having multiple of one hero on a team. They deliberately made the game less fun to force people into playing a meta, somehow ignoring that enforcing a meta always ends badly.

@@Helmic But the thing is that was the matchmaker 100%. It wasn't coincidence that you would suddenly be on a team that every single person was a DPS 1 trick. That forced win rate / loss rate "skill" based matchmaker was there role queue or not. Which is why even pre role queue you could get matches where every player was willing to flex and you would go hard, and then you'd group up and go on a win streak. Next day you WOULD be punished for doing so well as they game would make you baby sit the DPS retards for the next six + matches till the match maker decided you'd lost enough. Rinse and repeat Ad Infinitum. They use that same MMR bull in Call of duty.

May 2023 OW2 PVE has been cancelled the promised skills trees, hero progressions, dedicated hero modes, replayability are scrapped in favour of focusing more on the PVP and basically want more money from your wallet The Story missions will be distributed in episodic format in the Battlepass system not all at once by the way PVE is still coming but there is no replayability and presumably 1 or 2 hours long each all promises back in 2019 are essentially scrapped This video aged very well

They said it was so thoughtful of them to do that, as if they cared for the homeless. and then the game launches with a poor person filter. It’s hilarious.

@@snc237 i disagree. most of the time, if you had gold medals you were doing a good job and helping win the game, so it was nice to see that. you could inversely argue that the scoreboard showing everyone's kills/deaths also gives people a false impression and cause the same issue. but i think most people would agree that it was a nice feature, that didn't need to be removed, which contributed to the sense of reward when playing well.

Overwatch 2 is a bust. Valorant isn't good. Too bad there aren't any other team-based class-based first person shooters with a cartoon art style and charismatic characters available to play.

I'm not going to mention T3 Arena, and Project Matter is still unknown.

Yep. Game was unbearable without role queue as whatever team that could manage to put together a comp that had both tanks _and_ healers would almost always win against the one that didn't, but because OW rewards one tricking everyone is incentivized to stay on their main - so you get 4 DPS mains, one tank that's a Roadhog, and your clown ass as the only healer. Whatever team could beg its way into a a 2-2-2 would win.
Like yeah long queue times sucked ass but fast queue times for an even more toxic, shitty match just weren't worth it. And it made the one trick issue way less obnoxious since they weren't screaming at each other on mic to change to a tank or healer, so you could more often focus on your main and improve without feeling like you're throwing the match because you're the third DPS main on your team.
But when teams can't even manage to agree to a comp, having randoms organize actual team plays is just too much to ask. OW is extremely fun playing with premade teams of randoms you absorbed into the collective when you queued without a full stack, because you can all learn together how to do a push or exploit Zenyatta's damage orb or use Mei to split the enemy team and then have Rein charge to smash for a pick and then mop up the rest of the enemy. Trying to do anything that makes OW unique and fun in solo queue is fucking unbearable.
@@Helmic It's an issue introduced purely because they wanted to make OW more competitive by removing the freedom of having multiple of one hero on a team. They deliberately made the game less fun to force people into playing a meta, somehow ignoring that enforcing a meta always ends badly.
@@Helmic I agree 100. So many INCREDIBLY frustrating matches, always feeling forced to heal because no one else would. That or lose. Dunkey just has a fiery hatred for this game, don't know why. He complains that nothing changed, while bitching about every change. Role que saved me from quitting out of frustration. And you can still play without it so I don't see an issue
@@Helmic But the thing is that was the matchmaker 100%. It wasn't coincidence that you would suddenly be on a team that every single person was a DPS 1 trick.
That forced win rate / loss rate "skill" based matchmaker was there role queue or not. Which is why even pre role queue you could get matches where every player was willing to flex and you would go hard, and then you'd group up and go on a win streak.
Next day you WOULD be punished for doing so well as they game would make you baby sit the DPS retards for the next six + matches till the match maker decided you'd lost enough. Rinse and repeat Ad Infinitum.
They use that same MMR bull in Call of duty.

OW2 PVE has been cancelled the promised skills trees, hero progressions, dedicated hero modes, replayability are scrapped in favour of focusing more on the PVP and basically want more money from your wallet The Story missions will be distributed in episodic format in the Battlepass system not all at once by the way
PVE is still coming but there is no replayability and presumably 1 or 2 hours long each all promises back in 2019 are essentially scrapped

but i think most people would agree that it was a nice feature, that didn't need to be removed, which contributed to the sense of reward when playing well.

i loved overwatch when it first came out. those first few years were some of the most fun ive had in a shooter in a long time. but the constant micromanaging from blizzard after bridgettes inclusion to make it so you have to play the game the way THEY want you to. adding all these unnecessary rules and debuffs. it just destroyed any reason for me to play it again
I really hate constant tuning and balancing in games. Even Elden Ring constantly nerfed weapons which really made PVP suck.
