A quick look at my Battlestar Galactica collection covering both the original series and reboot series Music in the background from www.FesliyanStudios.com
I think the original Galactica is the most beautiful capital sci fi ship ever to be put to film. Love the newer version too, but there is something epic about the sense of size and scale with that original ship. Excellent video.
I was surprised at the size difference bwteen original and reboot - like you I love them both but the Original had that certain something that the newer version lacks - I love the scene in the original when a Clylon Raider flies down and over the Galactica in a straffing run - brilliant - sometimes the old effect are the best!
@@thequietroomfiles9731 Yes, agreed. I think it is hard to gauge scale unless there is a clear reference. Now I appreciate the sense to not put the Bridge of a war ship easily shot at by enemies there is something epic about seeing it on that original ship. I am a child of the 80's, but we did not really have Battlestar Galactica on TV in my area, so I had very limited exposure to the show. I did however take great pleasure in attempting to build a Lego Battlestar Galactica when I was about 8 years old. Good times. Anyways, thanks for the video. Good luck with the next project
Here in Canada the pilot episode was released in to theaters before it was shown on TV. Fantastic to see on the big screen! I went to see it several times.
Thank you! THANK YOU! For a truly impressive video! And sharing the results of a true labor of love for a great television series. Personally, I really only cared for the original 1978 TV series. To me, when the Cylons were 'stripped' of their 'alien'/'reptillian' origins. And turned into a bunch of human-made, robotic servants, that revolted against their creators, Ala John Cameron's "The Terminator". I said "EFF THIS MACHINE"! When the Blonde Cylon 'killed' the baby in the first part of the mini-series. She TOTALLY KILLED ANY EFFING Enthusiasm or INTEREST in the Battlestar Galactica remake for me. Then they did the whole gender bending thing with key characters from the series. They go and turn Starbuck, and Boomer into FEMALES? What the HELL? I've watched the 'remake' but I just can't get all that enthusiastic for it. Sorry. I appreciate your dedication to both versions. Thank you for sharing your video. And all the excellent work you put into following Battlestar Galactica!
Why do so many people feel the need to weather the Galactica to such a degree? It almost looks as though it flew threw a chimney and is covered in layers and layers of soot. The ship as presented in the series never looked so grimy.
I fall into the I like both version category - they both have positives and negative but there was something about the original that the newer version couldn't match - the original was a hulking great beast

very briefly seen in this video
John Dykstra and company put a LOT of work into the original. As for BSG-75, a good deal of her was done with a WHOLE bunch of computer work.

Great collection.

I bought 2 of the original kits of BSG and 2 base stars in 1980. I still have them.

I wanted a really battle worn aged ship but also the weathering brings out a lot of details
Everything about the original is better.

If you are going to make a video make it so we can turn the volume on and off when we hover our mouse over the video. Come on Man.
sorry that was one of my earlier videos and I hadn't quite worked out the sound issues - I am not a professional
