Such wonderful memories from my childhood. I loved this show when I was a kid. As an adult, I love it to this very day.
I was 20 in 1978!! As a die hard Trek fan, I loved BSG immediately!! It's a bloody crying shame that it got cancelled!! Less than 10 years after another iconic series got the plug pulled! I thought that those Colonial Vipers were the coolest thing! The critics were calling it "Son of Star Wars,"...I said "Bullsh*t! BSG is completely different!". One thing about BSG, you didn't see a huge number of bizarre looking aliens. The Ovions & Borays. The Borellian Nohmen were fully human. It was kinda funny how the Eastern Alliance was a direct copy of Nazi Germany..not just the uniforms but the affected German Accents as well!! All they needed was a goofy looking leader with a goofy hairstyle and a silly toothbrush mustache!!!
Ditto.
I felt young and happy again watching this.
Even if you're older now, I hope you're still happy 🙏
I worked with Glen for the last few years of his life, and I know he would have absolutely LOVED what you've done here. He would have probably wanted to put you to work on a project. :)
Thank you so much!
For sure! And the centurions look terrific. And I should know... Glen willed me 3 chrome centurion costumes and two gold commander centurion costumes. @@peterhirschberg6557
I AGREE
Agreed !!!
✌️😎🚀🚀🥁🥁
High praise indeed.
Classic BSG doesn't get the Respect it Deserves. Nice VID!
Adrift was amazing too. That moment when Pegasus appears, OH MAN!!!
This Video is a 16,5 min Window into my childhood, more than 40 Years away from here.
Thank you for upload this very nice work.
This is what happens when you have someone who loves, respects and understands the source material. Beautifully done guys and thank you so much. Saw the original at 18 years old and you brought me back in time 👍
Absolutely stunning!
There is so much love for the original version of Battlestar out there that Universal is losing out on making a fortune. The movie-going public is hungry for aerial dogfights with a good story - just look at the recent success of Top Gun: Maverick.
Disney has wasted so many opportunities with Star Wars since they acquired it that Universal could step in and produce a killer Battlestar movie that would clean up at the box office.
Peter is a frakkin' video genius.
Thank you so very, very much.
Sadly, John Dykstra blew through a BIG chunk of the FX budget on the pilot.
Thank you! I was flying with them into battle. BM2 Herndon, USN Ret.
If i remember correctly John Dykstra wasn't expecting the network to want a television series, it was originally planned only to be a couple of made for TV movies, but the network wanted mor@williammitchell4417
Stunning work, the original BSG was by far the best. Great job at bring it back for us who grew up with it.
Wow! Better than the entire Disney SW sequel trilogy. And that’s an entirely different franchise. I would have rather paid to see this instead in the theater.
The closing music got me.
That's the Galactica we should have gotten in the reboot.
This is a fan film I could watch all day long.😀👍
The redirected thrust burn at 11min was SWEET!
Such a faithfully done fan homage.
Right at the end of 1978 not long after I turned six my father took me and my younger brother to see the big-screen release of BSG, it was the very first film I ever saw (Followed shortly afterwards by Star Wars) and I remember the following year in 1979 watching the spin-off TV-series (The two-parter "The Living Legend" was my favourite episode) which I loved.
I was just telling someone the other day that I was able to see & remember seeing BSG & Buck Rogers in theaters.
I turned 5 in '78 when it was released. I think Buck Rogers was '79 or '80.
@@waynewest6160 "I think Buck Rogers was '79 or '80."
Buck Rogers was released in New Zealand in 1979, I don't recall if I saw it on the Big Screen but I do remember watching it avidly on TV (BSG was onscreen about the same time too).
I love that you started with the iconic stock footage shots, and then moved to ones that they didn't have the budget or the tech to make back in '78.
All of this video, especially at 3:52, took me back to 1978, laying on itchy shag carpet, smelling Dad’s cigarette smoke, while gazing at a massive Zenith television with a surprisingly small screen. Thank you for all of your hard work on this project.
Possibly, if not certainly, the best 16 minutes of my life...
Now that's damn impressive , the colors , details an the classic CYLON attack run on Galactica are all well made .
Incredible .... Brings back so many good memories.
Only thing I would have loved to see is a brief shadowy shot of the Imperious Leader, high up on his throne. Always loved that design.
Thank you! I have plans for him in a future version :-)
Dude thats close to perfect. You nailed the mood, theme and aesthetics of this show. It might be just a minor detail but the Viper turbo blasts are gorgeous and the angles and perspectives of the Cylon raiders approaching the Galactica blew me away. Last but not least you used the music and sound effects perrfectly. Much appreciated what you did here.
Awesome to the very core!!
I grew up with the original Battlestar Galactic. Love the colonial viper and the launch bay sequence!! Thank you for bringing back my childhood!!
Just watched “Adrift”, which will not let me comment for some reason, but I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed it. Thank you for making it! It made my inner twelve-year-old self super-happy
That is worthy of a feature film, congratulations and well done. I loved it.
Beautiful and stunning, really takes me back
I always preferred the original series to Moore's poorly written thing which always seemed to be searching for a purpose, and a believable plot line.
f yes so correct
The RDM series had two really good years. Then it seemed like they ran out of scripts and had no idea where they were headed. This is a common problem with current shows. They don't write all the way until the end of the series. This is why Bablylon V held together so well - there was a writer's guide that plotted all the major action points for all five years before they even started.
Always a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica. ❤
The real one 1
YES, I DO
Takes me back to the original series. Great job, I love it!❤
I’ve always wondered why it took 3 cylons to pilot a raider
@@doqas A Cylon Raider is a bomber craft that requires a navigator/bombardier, a pilot & and an officer sitting in the command chair. The reason why there are no single-pilot Cylon craft is explained in the 1978 BSG annual (which is based on the Pilot movie that was distributed to international cinemas). In the annual it is explained that the Cylons are actually reptilian-cyborgs. The Cylons were a blind reptilian race which is why their helmet has a 'red scanner' to enable them to see (provided by their Imperious Leaders who were a caste of Cylon who had the ability of sight). It is also the reason why the Cylon Centurion have respirator face-plates on their helmets, as well a life-support backpack because they are partially organic (the Cylons were also a proud warrior culture which is why they have swords & wear a 'skirt-type' flap on their belts). The successive Imperious Leaders had cybernetic implants installed into the Cylon brains to make them more obedient and disciplined warriors. However the result was that it made the Cylon centurion's reactions slow, affecting their accuracy, as well as their responses. This is why the Cylon raider craft requires 3 Centurions to pilot them. The ABC TV execs rejected the ' reptillian-cyborg' Cylon concept for the TV version of the pilot and had an extra scene inserted where it is explained that they are a fully robotic race of beings that were once the servants of a long dead race of reptilian beings called Cylons (even thought this contradicted the fact that the Cylon warriors are using respirators and wearing 'cultural' touch as swords & skirts). This TV studio enforced concept was due to TV rules at the time which forbade family TV shows to have excessive killings and deaths, which also included any fanciful concepts such as 'reptilian-cyborgs' etc. I personally disliked the 'fully robotic' concept of the Cylons that the TV studio Execs insisted on and preferred Larsons original concept etc. However he novelisations of the BSG series episodes, as well as the tie-in albums all retain Larson's original Cylon concept (which is also retained in the 'cinematic' version of the original BSG Pilot)
Great work! Huge fan of the shows and the first show is truly an important landmark in TV history. The attention to the show’s music, drama and action is perfectly given here. Thank you for this artwork!!
Excellent work once again. This kind of fan work can be taken a step further.
The premise of the 'What if' scenario could be explored.
For example, 'What if' the civiian ships were each issued with a Laser Turret similar to the Galactica's Turrets (via workshops aboard the fleet)?
Seeing Cylon Raiders approacjhing the civilian ships only to be met by 200+ Laser Turrets via the civilian ships would be awesome to behold! Individually the cvilian ships are weak but together can rival the defensive firepower of a Battlestar!
As a TOS BSG Fanboy I have always wondered about the 'what if the colonials did this scenario?'.
Star wars, star trek, gets most of the credits ,but battle star Galactica, was a pretty good series, you did a great job with the CGI , great work.
Awesome that you included Zac's (Rick Springfield) scene in the Viper, the engine blowing out.
As we all know that Adama's other son didn't make it, in the original pilot.
Thanks for this rendition, it was great.👍
Great work! Your CGI modeling and effects are flawless! Add a few scenes with actors in costumes and you could surpass the original series. I miss Lorne Greene and Richard Hatch.
Thank you for the great flashbacks. Never did like the reboot. It never gave me the feels original BSG gave.
Love the original and love this tribute. Solid proof for: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
This is so beautifully done. Creative and thoughtful in its presentation. I love the Raiders bobbing and weaving through the fleet, the Viper cockpit POV scenes as the pilot views the battle around him, and the shots from new perspectives, such as the top-down attack at 10:01. The most beautiful scene is at 14:09. We have seen this one before, but it was well wroth including again. It really underscores how small and vulnerable the fleet is, a few specks amongst the stars. Thanks so much for creating and sharing this. What a shame that CGI wasn't available to Mr. Larson in 1978.
Thank you! ❤️
The words fail me as I have no explatives to describe how truly beautifully well done this is. This w@s my favorite as a child of the early 80 s .
Beautiful work. Brings back childhood memories.
Simply stunning Peter! Thank you for all of the effort that you put into these videos. Astoundingly beautiful!🌌🪐
The sound effects really sell this, keep refinining!
Loved this show growing up. It'll always be close to my heart. This is outstanding work sir. Thank you.
You got the look right, the sounds all match the original version of Battlestar Galactica... I'd say you hit this one out of the park. Great job.
This is an awesome 👍 show happy memories from my childhood and as an adult
This is more than a Fan shot film! This is truly a Masterpiece of someone who loves Galactica! So much Love and Detail. I can´t imagine how many month it took to create this. THX bigtimes!
Faaaaaaantastic Job !!! A real tribute to this Classica Show.
Thank's for that.
Exciting! A Lot of Memories watching this lovely movie
Remarkable and thoroughly enjoyable. I think I said WOW more than once. That ending was so beautiful and the credits music haunting. Well done!
Thank you so much!
GLEN LARSON , THE BEST PRODUCER OF TV SHOWS OF ALL TIMES, RIP.
Very well done! I'm impressed at the modern special effects used to make something that respects the original work and doesn't stray outside the box just because you could. There's even film grain and I swear, some hairs on the lens in some of what would have been miniature shots! This is a great piece of work, you've really captured the visual language of this show and its era. I'm just a little disappointed the story didn't include characters, there's only so much that you can vehiculate with... well, vehicles. The Cylons brought some well needed dialogue, and the later part featuring some humans helped, it just suffers from the lack of their presence in the opening moments. Still, amazing cinematography. Love to see more!
Wow i need more of this in my life thank you Peter ! Bless you !
That was an amazing passion project, my friend. There are many great ships throughout sci-fi screen history, but nothing as majestic as battlestars!
Breathtaking! So beautifully done! Thank you so much for this!
Thank you!
I grew up on Battlestar and other shows of that era. I must say, nicely made. KUDOS to all your hard work. Awesome job.
Well done! Especially the Cylons ! My favourite robots of all time
This video deserves more likes. This was amazing. The special effects, to each scene, the immersive sound quality. I played this on a 65 in OLED with complete surround sound. You did a fantastic job.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! This is BEAUTIFUL! ♥♥ What A Fantastic! Honored Tribute.! BRAVO! 1000% Better Than The Garbage Hollywood Puts Out. This Should Be On The Big Screen.... again BRAVO! GREAT JOB!
Ironically, I don't remember the Galactica's auto cannons ever actually hitting anything in the original TV series 🤣
Joking aside, nice work 👍
"Hello Beautiful" - Captain William Riker. Ver rarely do I see the Basestar from above the way you did them.
Thank you and Bravo!!! I just relived my childhood.
This is brilliant, wish they made a remake of the original Battlestar Galactica.
I love the weapon sounds from the old show. I wish the game Battlestar galactica Deadlock had the old weapon sounds.
Brought a tear to my eye, brilliant work
Good work and great memories of the original as a boy in my bedroom. Feeling guilty that I loved the zylons so much even after Darth Vader😂
For being fan made , most of this footage I think would actually be worthy of being used in an actual episode.
Great work , love to see even more of this.
Maybe add the Argo ships a.k.a. the Valley Forge from silent running.
@@Max1701 thanks! Funny you mentioned the Agro ship as I just dusted that model off. :-)
I LOVED THIS! THANK YOU!
They should do another series, but all CGI animation.
Could you imagine if they had a decent budget !
Mama duck, follow her she will protect you, love this. wow you just took possible reality to a brand new place
The REAL BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!
I have always maintained that THIS version of the Battlestar Galactica was always more reflective of what a true warship would be. Not organic or curved like the reimagined Galactica. But with pipes and conduits and corridors and bulges and things unknown dotting it's "landscape". That's where the reimagined Galactica fell flat. If you were going to make a tribute to BSG TOS, then they should have given Adama a new "Mercury" Class Battlestar which actually does embrace quite a bit of the TOS Galactica.
But as for this tribute? Fantastic!!! I wish there would be a new BSG, but with ships like the original TOS. Sure they can take a "few" liberties and perhaps clean up the TOS Galactica. Maybe make it a bit more modern. But not a complete redesign. And don't regress the technology!!! Let it have laser cannons and energy weapons. Modernize the Vipers and add Raptors. Also, they need to keep the original Cylon Basestars! And don't make them "humanity's creation". Make the Cylons truly alien! A race of cybernetic being who conquered their creators. The original TOS story was that! Even use the reimagined Cylon Raiders and above all bring back Lucifer!! The IL series machine who hated, but worked with the traitor Baltar.
Edit: To clarify, if they were going to do a tribute to the reimagined series, they should have given Adama command of a "Mercury" Class Battlestar. The Pegasus looked much closer to the TOS Galactica.
Wooooderfull, Faaaaantastic job Pal, a Real tribute for this great Classic show.
Unfortunly Universal did not remake the effects of the original series. Dam bastards.
Good stuff, was almost expecting parts of the TV show to cut in for added effect in the beginning but just sticking to what you go already is pretty good.
My only complaint is that I can only hit the like button ONCE!!!
AWESOME JOB!!!
It felt true to the original from my childhood & pulled in aspects from the mid 2000s BSG.
Beautifully done & CGI was WAY better than expected for a "fan film".
The voice of the cylons are the best in sci fi.
Wow this took me back to my childhood watching BSG with many family who have passed away.
Thank you for the fond memories. Well done.
BEAUTIFUL! I Really enjoyed this!
Outstanding, absolutely outstanding. The original was the best. I would love to see someone, either fan or studio, take the original, clean it up, add a few new action scenes and re-release it in 4K.
The best animation I have seen that does not use real models.
Amazing stuff, lovely attention to detail, recreating many of the original model FX shots, but adding some new ones in too. Thanks for uploading and for sharing your amazing talent.
Thank you so much!
Never saw a viper do a reverse thing like that before a nice touch
This is very well done.
An astounding dedication to the art of science fiction I was moved by this video 😔
Woooow... I remember this!... Amazing job!...
Love these videos, the detailing, especially on the Galactica is amazing.
Exactly what I was hoping for.
This was very well done, thanks for sharing to us.
1] Have a Cylon remove its helmet, to reveal a Tesla-bot inside 2] seeing the blue glow of the engines of the space craft reminded me when I read Clark's book "2001", "the ion plasma engines of Discovery gave off a deep red glow"
Have the show on DVD. Awesome!
I fully respect the attention to detail here... having grown up adoring the original show I felt a few pangs of nostalgia, which I normally don't get from CGI. Great effort with the sound and ship rendering.
Very nicely done. I've always wanted my own base star.
This is good love, what a beautiful animation.
Magically vr done
Beautiful, 🤎💜💙💚💛🧡❤congratulations
Awesome! If you knew the right people, this could turn into something.
when I was a kid I wanted to be a Cylon so badly
This is the Real one and only original 👍
Absolutely fantastic work loved it all wish I could get that level of workmanship for my scripts in progress
Nicely done, with much thanks and gratitude. 😁
I spent many wonderful hours building those model ships. Good times.
some one should remaster the original films like this great job love it
Amazing! Still hoping for a remake that looks like THIS, not the 2004 show.
Bravo, Bravo. Thank you for all your hard work, and thanks for the nostalgia, my childhood is alive again 😊 thank you so very much . This video is a masterpiece.
