I also saw an analysis of the title saying the whole song is an homage to Hit the Lights from Kill ‘Em All, especially since the song is so similar to it musically!
@@tbd407 Nothing if you're a normal person, these guys have been touring, performing and making albums most of those 40 years. The toll of the travel itself would be huge for even people in their prime
Yes!! Metallica is dropping a new album! I like this one, it reminds me of old school Metallica but still sounds new. Its amazing these guys can still play so fast and agressive pushing 60 years old.
I am cryin! This is hilarious and fun! I love your excitement over this single! I am not a Metal fan, but my oldest child will be 40 in a few months, and she had every Metallica album as a teen! Seeing your love for this song reminds me of the Old Days when the house shook with their music! Sending you lot BIg Love!

Love seeing a group of young men who have been discovering Metallica, receive the treat of reacting to a brand new song! As an old head Metallica fan, this reaction brought a real smile to my face! Go see em live while you can.
Yess new Metallica on the way. Since you’re checking out their new material, you should check out, “Spit Out The Bone”. It’s off their 2016 album and FULL of energy throughout the entire song. Also a GREAT song to work out to with insane instrumentals
YUP YUP!!!!..I was in 3rd grade when these guys put there first album out....I'm 48 now....they were underground when I was a kid...its incredible to see how they have transcended generations , gender , and race...the audience when I saw them in the 80s was alot different than the audiences now....love it
Being a fan since the late 80's I'm honored to listen to this song for the first time with you guys. Love you're enthusiasm for a band that got me though alot of times, good and bad. Cheers my metal brothers!
Y'all really should catch a live show if you can. There's nothing like a live Metallica show. The unison in the chanting and sing-along is really unlike any other band I've seen. The energy is so tight you could power the world if you could harness it.
@Joe dirty71 Congrats on your differing opinion. You realize it's entirely subjective. I've seen more than 20 bands of all types. I stand by what I say about the audience connection.
@Joe dirty71 I've seen Slipknot a few times. They're very good. Having a different opinion doesn't matter it factual. You should really consider this before commenting further.
@Joe dirty71 In all seriousness , your smugness is off-putting & not humorous. These guys aren't diehard metal fans. They clearly like Metallica, who I would absolutely agree has slowed down with age as people do. Additionally, the tenor of their albums have changed over the last 20 years, which would necessarily change their live shows just as a new tour would focus on an album we haven't heard. Yet you speak with such confidence. I don't think you're capable of taking people's differences into account. I would never recommend a Slipknot show to a non-metal fan as their first show. The energy is too manic. It's obvious you won't reflect on yourself but for anyone reading this comment, don't take music advice from this guy. He isn't interested in your enjoyment of music but the correctness of his opinion.
The lyric “lightning the nation” is a tip of the hat to the band Diamond Head who is one of Metallica’s biggest (if not their biggest) influences, Diamond Head’s debut album was called “Lightning to the Nations”
When I first heard this tune the other night I was kinda torn, as far as my initial impression. Now a couple days have gone by and I have found myself repeatedly going back to listen to it, over and over. The chorus where James screams the song title is everything in this track. That and the kick drums. But just the way James climbs the ladder vocally to belt out the chorus is such an amazing hook. This almost feels like a sorta power metal almost-but-not-quite Dokken-type vibe meets British new wave meets sped-up Load riffage meets a more polished version of Hit the Lights. It's gonna be a go-to live song (the lyrics kinda reflect that) and the song's energy and the boys' own energy are undeniable. I can't explain it, but all I know is my ear loves it. I'm very happy Metallica is back with new tunes and I'm also very happy they kept the album under wraps so now it's arriving soon - to MY mind - rather than them announcing it 2 years out and then us playing the waiting game. These old dogs can still hunt.
Hi..please do a reaction on an Indonesian singer named Cakra Khan.. he did an amazing cover for Tennessee whiskey.. and the other is a fingerstyle guitarist named Alip Ba Ta.. very talented. !!
Sounds a lot like the material on Kill Em All, especially the part just before and after the guitar solo that sounded like Hit the Lights. I'm sure they will release a song or two before the album release of "72 Seasons" on April 14, 2023. 12 Tracks and 77 minutes.
it's amazing that these guys started in the mid 80s and still pumping strong! I have been a metallica fan since I knew who they were. to this day favorite album hands down master of puppets.
The song seems a homage to metal as a whole. They're totally wearing their influences on their sleeves here. There are musical references all over the place in the riffs. Motorhead, Misfits, Judas Priest, just tons of familiar riffs. So it's a celebration of metal and how it will live forever, or lux aeterna. On top of that, they include the crowd as part of the life of the music so it's definitely intended to be played live.
the lyric "Lightning the Nation" is definitely a reference of Diamond Head and their album "Lightning to the Nations". Metallica are big fans of Diamond Head, even covered "Am I Evil" and "It's Electric" among others
I'm going to both shows in Glendale, AZ!! Sept 1st & 3rd 2023! I cannot wait to see my favorite heavy metal band! 🤘🤘 40 plus years later and they are still killing it and going back to their OG sound, absolutely love it!! And I cannot wait for the new album! 🤘🤘

Lux Aeternal means Light Eternal. The new album is coming in April and the plotted a 2 year tour. They are timeless, they continue to stay as hard as ever. Consistently good for so long...pretty sure that's the definition of greatness.
These guys have been ripping like this for over 40years! And they are good guys who give back. Check out their charity organization called all within my hands. They have a day of giving where they ask their fans to all volunteer at a local food bank. They have scholarships for vocational schools. They have given so much away to good causes. They also donate part of the proceeds from every concert to local food banks in that particular area. They really are a great band and not just musically.
I’m new to this channel but you guys are awesome!! Metallica is my all time favorite band and seeing you guys discover them in such a genuine and happy manner puts a smile on my face. Shoutout to that NASCAR shirt!

I love when younger guys like y'all get into a band that I've loved for over 30 years! Y'all were digging the music that made me a good drummer. Good on y'all! Love seeing that. Honor God family and country and bring it in song. Good reaction my American brothers. Keep the music alive. 3 chords and the truth. Amen
I’m so glad you reacted to this. I checked yesterday and no reactions. I was hoping you would have heard Metallica dropped a new song and it’s insane. I’m glad all 5 of you get to react to this. Go to Soldier Field in Chicago. 2024
I am in complete agreement with all the people who said you guys should go check them out live next year. It really is an awesome experience. It will definitely, as you young ones say "be LIT!"
Got my tickets this morning for the 2 shows in St. Louis. If you guys can get to a show, absolutely go see them live. They are amazing! I've seen them 3 times and can't wait for November 2023!
Lux Aeterna is Latin for Eternal Light. The concept of the album, called 72 Seasons is about early life, from birth to 18yrs old (There's four seasons, so 72 would be 18yrs). My take for this track is the taking the world by the throat mentality of the young.
I just got my Pit tickets for their show in Arlington, TX in August. They are playing two shows. One on Friday and one on Sunday. I got tickets to both. It’s my birthday weekend. This will be my 15th and 16th Metallica concert. Long live the Kings! 🤘

My guess about "72 Seasons" meaning, the album cover shows childhood play things, including from teenage years such as a guitar. And 72 seasons = 18 years (year of adulthood in U.S.), so perhaps about childhood/youth or growing up...?
Shiiiiiiiiit....this sucker sounds like old school Metallica! Heavy Motorhead vibes on this bad boy. It comes in like lightning and doesn't let up! It keeps coming back for more!
I got my tickets!!! Presale on Wednesday morning! They are playing 22 cities and only 12 in the US. I’m going to the St Louis show and taking my brother. I saw them 30 years ago in 1992 so this is a full circle bucket list to see them again! They are doing a 2 show concert in each city.. Friday night with Pantera opening and Metallica will play 15 songs, they take Saturday off and then they play Sunday with 5 Finger Death Punch opening and Metallica plays 15 different songs! 30 songs in all with different bands opening each night! We are front row seats facing the field in front of the band.. great seats! Cost me $789 but seeing Metallica with their new album, 30 years later with my brother.. priceless!! 😜🤘😎
Hey guys, big Metallica fan here. According to James - "72 seasons," begins James. "The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told 'who we are' by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. "I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is re-enactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry."

Guys are grandpas now and still shred harder than anyone on earth. I wanna see Cartier fam do Timmy Trumpet & Savage "Freaks" at some point. Would help make them big with an entirely new fanbase. Plus the song is amazing, have a feeling they'd love it.
I seen them 3-4 times. One of the best concerts you'll ever see. I'd go with y'all lol. They faked a stage hand injury falling out of the rafters at one of the shows I saw. Big lights turned on, everyone thought the show was about to be canceled at that point. Band came out with small practice amps and started playing because all the main stuff was off. It was like a "show must go on" moment, then they turned it all back on, it was a joke lol.
A few days ago when I got the notification I thought it was fake or a rumour but the metal community was absolutely buzzing. And this song is a banger..Motorhead meets Hit the Lights ,Tallica are back to their roots with a modern spin, upcoming tour..Good times! I also have enjoyed Godsmack's two recent releases of their upcoming album. Godsmack and Metallica are inspirational.
Would love it if you guys went to see Metallica. This tour is gonna be epic. One ticket, 2 nights, 2 completely different shows in a stadium. It will change your life.
I'm a 49 year old white guy and I love this channel. I guess regardless of race or age, music and comedy (that's mostly what I've watched you guys react to) brings us all together. Keep it up!
They are doing two nights in each city, with different bands on each night. I think it would be totally awesome if you all can go. Tickets for both shows go on sale in Dec. If you go to only one show, those tickets go on sale in Jan. I'm looking forward to seeing them here in the Lou next Nov 🤘🤘🤘
About the way he was holding his guitar upright during the solo, there are reasons for it. First obvious one is it looks cool. But more importantly, when holding a guitar standing, doing certain fingerings on the fretboard high up the neck can be difficult in a normal grip/stance, but it's much easier if the guitar is upright like that. You will notice many guitarists doing that upright thing when it's time to go high up the fretboard during a solo.
This is a definite throwback to OG Metallica. I hear a lot of Kill em All on this track.
Same here! Even my mum said it’s old school lmao. Now I gotta try and get my dad to listen to it

I'm going to the show in AZ!!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 Merry Christmas and happy holidays guys!!!!!😁
Going to St. Louis and Copenhagen, Denmark to see them live world tour baby…💪🏻🤘🏼You guys need to check them out live it’s unreal.
Lars homeland. I love the Nordic countries they have great metal over there.
Didn’t even know they dropped a new song appreciate the put on🙏🏼

I'm a 49 year old white guy and I love this channel. I guess regardless of race or age, music and comedy (that's mostly what I've watched you guys react to) brings us all together. Keep it up!
The undisputed Kings of Music strike again and the Globe rocks to that song 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘

My guy in the back is ready to let loose. F*cking bang your head bro let it out
They gave you the words, they want you to define them ^^ Lux Aeterna! 🤘
Metallica is my band!!! You need to watch their video for "One". Also listen to Rush- Tom Sawyer. Geddy lee's voice will blow your mind
Best reaction to this so far! Thank you guys! You get "double fire extinguishers"
