Well, most solos. There are some songs where James plays lead guitar too (chill solo from Master of Puppets, To Live Is To Die second solo, Suicide and Redemption, etc)
The lead singer of MegaDeth Dave Mustaine was the original Lead Guitarist for Metallica in their early days but he got kicked out of the band. Then they replaced him with Kirk Hammett. I’m 51. I was in 7th grade when this album came out. Same album as this song, jump in the fire is one of my favorite songs. Fun fact - Dave Mustaine of Megadeath was Metallica’s original guitarist. He was a mean drunk when he was young and was fired from the band, replaced by the current Kirk Hammett. The Seek and destroy riff was written by Dave Mustaine. Kirk Hammet is the lead guitarist. James Hetfield is the rhythm guitarist. The original bassist, the one on the first 3 albums through Master of Puppets, was Cliff Burton. He died on tour in Sweden when their bus flipped over on black ice in 1986. He was replaced by Jason Newsted who was with them through the St Anger album. Robert Trujillo took over as their bassist in 2003. He used to play for Suicidal Tendencies in the ‘80’s. 🤘
James wrote seek and destoy along with whiplash, no remorse, hit the lights and Motorbreath. Dave helped write four horsemen, phantom lord and metal militia and wrote jump in the fire
Hey. New subscriber. I love seeing you guys in college and experiencing this stuff for the first time. I was dying when one of you said we had to reply in MLA format. I use APA though. 😂 Been a fan of rock and metal for almost 40 years. Dave Mustaine from Megadeth was originally in Metallica and shares songwriting credits for several songs on Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning. He was kicked out for being a jerk alcoholic. The silver lining is that he went and created Megadeth. Lars and James then went and recruited lead guitarist Kirk Hammett from the Band, Exodus, which you should totally check out. Old school thrash metal at its finest. They (and this is critical) also recruited bassist Cliff Burton. That is the the core, classic lineup. This lasted through the album, Master of Puppets. Sadly, Cliff was killed in a bus accident on the tour. The band then got Jason Newsted from the band Flotsam and Jetsam to play bass for many years. He eventually left and was replaced by Rob Trujillo, the current bass player. Metallica are unquestionably masters of their art, but they’re not flawless. After the …And Justice for All album, they released the “Black” album. It was their most commercially successful album, but there is still division among fans regarding whether or not the band sold out. After that, they got weird and released some albums that are generally considered to be inferior: Load, Reload and St. Anger. Those are, at the very least, disappointing after hearing the good stuff. James went and took singing lessons and changed his vocal style after the Black Album. Eventually, they found their footing again with the album Death Magnetic. The newest album, Hardwired to Self Destruct is also pretty good and shows influences from throughout their career. You can’t go wrong listening to these earlier albums. Just be wary of the newer ones. Try the songs Fuel, My Apocalypse, Atlas Rise and Spit Out the Bone for some of the decent newer songs. Hope this helps. Rock on!
it’s amazing to see you guys look at all of this 80’s and 90’s heavy metal with an open mind. you guys should definitely check out Pantera’s “Domination”, or “I’m Broken” sometime
As a kid who grew up with Metallica in the 80s i never saw the legend status everyone gives them. Im a Motorhead/Suicidal Tendencies type guy. I saw Pantera in like 1992 and it was epic. The intensity level was stratospheric! About 20 seconds of 'Respect, Walk' would change your top 3 right quick. 'Primal Concrete Sledge' will intensify any workout program. After that you will be ready for the next level.
They were teenagers when they made this, unreal how this album still feels so fresh. Its cool that they sped up the timing of this for concerts, makes it better by far
I’m old enough to remember when WCW was a thing and this was the wrestler Sting’s entrance music. It was pretty awesome to hear in an arena with the crowd going nuts and this guy who looked like the actor from the movie The Crow would come down from the rafters. When wrestling was awesome.

They wanted to name this album "Metal Up Your A$s" but the record label company wouldn't let them so they said "Kill Them All". That's what Hetfield said live in a part on the old VHS tape called "Cliff Them All".

The title for this album was originally meant to be, "Metal Up Your Ass". No one would produce it. Kill 'Em All refers to all the brass in the industry. This album was released without singles. They did not have an album that included a "single" till Justice (...And Justice For All). Which was the album that was the beginning of the end for the respect their original fan base had for them.

@@jameshausmann6786 Not Just Drunk Dave was a huge Speed Freak...He didn't just help write the music he was a founding member of Metallica...✌️Keep Thrashing!!!
@@hypknowthismofo4604 yea i like some megadeath music but i didnt like how he fit with metallica from kill em all to ride the lightning you can easily see with his influence and without.i liked kill em all but it has to be my least favorite before the load era.but i did also like load and reload.
I am in love with the fact that y’all love Metallica. Watching you rock out to them is most enjoyable! Rock on, friends!! 🤘😻😎
I know, the Harley and horse 😂😂😂
The guitarist is Kirk Hammet but the guitar parts were written by former Metallica and current Megadeth guitarist Dave mustaine.
Gotta remember too, this was guys in their early 20s making masterpieces like this. Theyre the GOATS for sure
Been listening to Metallica for 25 years now and I still want to smash through walls every time I hear em. Glad you guys discovered this legendary band.
I've watched and liked a few of these; you're finally getting to the early shiz. Yes!
I've been a metallica fan since the 80s.They are my favorite band. The fact that your now fans and are enjoying them is awesome .I absolutely love your reactions.Welcome to the Metallica family❤️🤘
Robert was also with Ozzy for a bit
James wrote seek and destoy along with whiplash, no remorse, hit the lights and Motorbreath.
Dave helped write four horsemen, phantom lord and metal militia and wrote jump in the fire
@@imagereflection4826 Dave wrote the solo. That is confirmed
@@farkas480 Yea he definitely wrote the basis of it although Kirk changed it a bit but the song itself all the riffs in it etc are James
This here is the first song I learned on guitar and what got me to dive into their discography. Soon enough discovered they’re the GOATS
Rock on!
Good suggestions, much love my brother.
This made my day. I first heard this back in 83 on vaca in PC FL when I was sophomore in HS. I was hooked. Never gets old. Good Job fellas. Rock On!
it’s amazing to see you guys look at all of this 80’s and 90’s heavy metal with an open mind. you guys should definitely check out Pantera’s “Domination”, or “I’m Broken” sometime
Metallica live in Moscow Creeping Death. There was a million plus people.
Sting should’ve won clean vs Hogan at Starrcade 97’, and he should’ve beat Triple H at Wrestlemania…. Smh
That’s where I first learned of this song.
@@Salisboury politics. Hogan was Hogan, and the WWE wasn’t letting their heir to the throne lose to the top guy in their former competition.
I use to listen to this before every baseball game in college and get fired up. There is nothing like Metallica to get you fired up before the gym or a game. Your guys channel is 🔥
You guys have experienced the adrenaline rush some music and metal especially can give you. Love it! Hearing @BrvndonRhone always mentioning Randy Rhodes is not lost on me. I see you man.
They wanted to name this album "Metal Up Your A$s" but the record label company wouldn't let them so they said "Kill Them All". That's what Hetfield said live in a part on the old VHS tape called "Cliff Them All".
Yeah, that Metal up your Ass t-shirt with the hand holding a knife out of a toilet got me in a world of trouble back in 7th grade. 😄
@@brandontaylor3252 i had the same t shirt back in the day
"No Leaf Clover" Metallica, live version with the symphony!! Fantastic!!! S&M........ symphony and Metallica :)
Loving your reactions. If you ever get the chance go to a metal concert. This live is so much better. Imagine thousands reacting with banging heads with fists raised in the air. I've seen Metallica twice along with many other bands but seeing it live is something special
Go to a concert and you'll be hooked
Love it! You guys have become real metal heads now... headbanging and everything!
For a good listen at anytime, I would say you're right, Metallica is #1. But if you tryna get real pumped Megadeth's whole catalog is 🔥
Nah ozzy will be number 1
@@Crash.7434This is the way.
This is the song that locked me in to them. Imagine I'm a teenager and someone put this song on for me to hear, been a fan ever since.
This album was the first ever metal band i heard. I was 10 on 83. I went to my cousin and he told me Hey listen to that. I was stuck. Hit the lights blew my mind and since i am a metal head. I am french and here in France it was all new. And after this beautiful day i was looking for others bands. And naturally fell in love with Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Def Leppard, Dio etc etc
@@metalhead7840 The song that hooked me was "Am I Evil." I heard it at a party, and asked the dude who was throwing the party who it was.
I went out and bought the 12" "Creeping Death , Am I Evil?, Blitzkrieg" the next day.
That 12" now hangs in my bar room in a frame. I'll never sell it.
Again. Just imagine growing up with this as it came out. Brutal is all I can say. 🤘
Guy in the gray in the middle really is the life of this channel. Love his energy.
Can I just say thank you guys for actually listening and respecting this. If you guys look at the lyrics it's literally hard as the rap. You should do "And Justice For All".
“…And Justice For All” is my favorite Metallica song but it took me awhile to even like it. At first it felt like a chore to listen to but eventually I had an epiphany and realized it’s amazing.
I feel u on that fr, but one day it clicked so good
That's my favorite song too! Along with blackened. They are very good.
Shouldn't have
Their best, most enduring, most relevant album
All Time Favourite. It's not the best out there. But it's my favourite Album. All time.
Love that song and album. The change ups in that song is nuts, almost progressive.

I can honestly say that I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone air guitar a fire extinguisher before😂🤟🏻
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS, especially to Metal! Thank You so much... I've been listening to these fellas since they started really! I love their music... but its a deep hole! Don't stop workout some instrumentals... call of Ktulu, Orion, to live is to die, (anesthesia) Pulling Teeth...
BUT NO RANKING OF METAL BANDS SHALL EVER BE DISCUSSED WITHOUT THE MENTION OF PANTERA!
R.I.P. DIME R.I.P. VINNIE R.I.P. CLIFF
You guys had me up till 5 in the morning watching all of your METALLICA videos.....I couldn't stop watching you dudes hear them for the first time......they are my all time favorite band bar none......what's funny is their first album kill 'em all came out in 83.....second ride the lightning was in 84 and third was master of puppets in 86.....and their music still puts other newer bands to shame, it's timeless music......but plse make more METALLICA videos for a fan
Metallica is truly one of the greatest bands of ALL TIME!!!!! The guys shred, LIVING LEGENDS!!!!!!
Awesome song. This was Metallica's 1st album. As you keep going you will realize that each album has its own distinct sound. Next you should check out Ride the Lightng.
One of Kirks best Solos in this. One of their best songs. Masterpiece.
May I suggest Orion!?!? It's an instrumental and I don't think any Metallica fan would disagree that it's a banger.
Watch Battery live in Seattle 89. Top tier Metallica. That whole show is a monster.
This is very quickly becoming my favorite reaction channel
The first Metallica song I ever heard back in the 80s and to this day one of my favorites. It’s great live too. Requires audience participation. ❤
I request you guys do "Harvester of Sorrow" off of the "And Justice for All" album next. That one always gets overlooked.
Now you have to watch the live version of this song from their concert in Seatle 1989! Or just watch that entire concert. Greatest concert of all time.
You might also like: King's X - Doug Pinnick is amazing and "Over my Head" is a classic. Sepultura - Derrick Green is FIRE on the mic now, just watch any 2022 live performance. Alice in Chains now has William Duval up front and fitting in like he was always there. Check out "Slam City" by Suicidal Tendencies. And do NOT miss "Without Water" by Candiria.
That lineup is James Hetfield singer & rythem guitar
Lars Ulrich drums
Kirk Hammett lead guitar
Cliff Burton bass guitar
I absolutely love your reactions to Metallica. Im a drummer, and it’s the most fun song to play.
I’d like to see you guys react to “The Call Of Ktulu” played live with the San Francisco symphony. It’s an instrumental that will blow your mind. Make sure you watch the live version.
Fuel is also next level🏎
Please “Hit the lights” next.
These songs were partially written by the lead guitarist of Megadeth (Dave Mustaine) when he was a member of Metallica.
i’m pretty sure most of the riffs on this album are daves
@@loganbellini8094 Me too, but I do not want to start some sort of debate between Metallica fans and Megadeth’s which is why I said the riff were partially written.
@@loganbellini8094 Most of them aren't Dave's, he helped to write 4 songs
@@Salisboury Hit the lights was written before Dave joined
This is one of the songs American fighter pilots play in actual combat. FACTS 🇺🇸
I love that.
Y’all need to do Sad But True. That groove hits hard.
Some say it’s the heaviest song off all time since multiple guitars had to be tuned down and slot of other stuff, isint that crazy
Sanitarium by Metallica!
This album was originally called metal up your ass before being changed to kill em all 🤘
Ciao, sf native. And long time Metallica and death angel "listener" it's really entertaining watching y'all. Thank you for being so open minded. You guys remind me of , what I wished that my son's friends were up and getting stoned and getting in trouble
y'all are damn entertaining! I love watching your channel. puts me in a good mood.
You gotta check out The Four Horsemen by them next. Unbelievable!
I would love to watch them watch it
This album changed the landscape of heavy metal music in 1983, their first album and still their best, total gamechanger
Nah ride the lightning is way better, but KEA is sick too
Dave Mustaine was in Metallica before he formed Megadeth. He was fired shortly before the release of this album and was replaced by Kirk who was in a band called Exodus. Dave wrote 4 songs on this album ( phantom lord, jump in the fire, metal militia and the 4 horsemen.)
Great songs stand the test of time and always finds new listeners. Awesome video. Shout out from Sweden!
What you guys will really love if somebody hasn't already mentioned it Dave mustaine is the lead singer of guitarist for Megadeth!!
We need more Soundgarden. Did you guys do the Black Hole Sun video? Maybe I smoke too much pot and forgot lol
This is one you guys need to do a live version of because of the call and answer they do live.
This was a great song we’d play when we cruised around as teens.
Now days I’m going to the grocery store & running errands etc. 😊
Yes, but still jam it loud whenever we can.
Seek grocery store, destroy errands!
The "Bobblehead" Family.......love it!
Yes! More Maiden please :D Fear Of The Dark Live in Rio will blow your mind!
Call of Ktulu is a must-listen, that or Orion. Both instrumentals showcase each member's skills.
Please do Orion next!!!
Yes yes yes!! Y’all are feeling it!!! I love the reactions! Remember this is oldest Metallica… they obviously perfected their craft as they grew with James .
I wouldn’t mind having a blunt or two with these guys and listening to some Metallica
When I was stationed on my 1st boat (submarine) the USS HAWKBILL SSN-666, my 2nd Skipper played this song over the 1MC as we headed out to sea. This song brings back some good memories. All of my kids grew up rocking with Metallica.
Be safe and be 😎
Love your Channel, 1st Song James wrote. I like the Iron Maiden Shout Out. Pantera, Faith No More, Primus, good choices as well.
I love Metallica and have been a fan since the 80's, but Overkill is my favorite and I was introduced to them in military bootcamp in February 1992 and have been a fan since!!
When this started in the last reaction I was hoping and praying they’d listen to this. I saw them live in Vancouver Canada. Awesome reaction!
Watching these guys jam out to a song they’ve never listen to made my day
I love the fact you guys are always figuring out what the songs are about. 🤘😤🤘
3:50 when his bro drops the hat and he puts it back on 😂
They are talking about the glam rock bands at the time. Like motley crue. Back then the popular metal bands had big hair, wore make up, sang about women. Metallica was tough. That's where kill em all comes from
