Rammstein is often doing a play on words which have a double meaning in german. Regarding to this song you can " listen/read " it in two ways. That " Du hast " would mean " You have ". But " Du hasst " ( with two s ) means " You hate ". But only when the whole sentence is sung, you realize the exact meaning. Because only singing " Du has(s)t " can mean both but once that whole sentence is sung: " Du hast mich gefragt... " ( meaning: " You have asked me..." ) the real meaning becomes clear. The false lead comes also by singing and repeating " Du has(s)t mich. " This sentence alone would mean " You hate me ". But following it with " Du hast mich.....gefragt " it changes towards " You have asked me..."
@FatevsFate I feel you. Explaining this sentence alone can turn into an essay or lecture. Not even mentioning the historical and sociological symbolism in the " Deutschland " video which even the majority of germans wont recognize. That would be a whole workshop 😉
even we germans are not 100% sure what they want to say. thats one point of the awesomenes of rammstein, great text writing. u have to read between the lines, there is a lot of interpretation!
Genau so ist es!ZB Reise Reise :der eine sticht die Lanz im Heer, der andre wirft sie in das Meer-sprich:der eine kämpft, der andre gibt auf.Tja deutsch Sprache schwere Sprache!
Hello ! May Allah protect and guide you to his light and happiness in this life and the hereafter, God bless, Ameen. Excuse me for giving a little presentation of Islam, because it is very misunderstood nowadays, especially on those « Antichrist's » times, where media and politics are mixed to distort history and truth. And terrorists (puppets of the Antichrist) who misinterpret verses, out of ignorance and political motivations, and take them out of historical context (just like radical atheists do by the way) don't help either. Thank you very much for your time. First of all, if you have any questions regarding Islam and yourself, just open the Quran randomly, and you will find the answer in front of you, like a miracle and a sign from God.
Islam is an arabic word that means the Surrender to the One and Only God, our Creator, Protector, Provider, who gives us life and all that we have, we are safe and sound by his will and grace, we are His and to Him we return, and we have to thank him in this trial life by submitting to him by our free will, or later in the Day of judgment when it's too late to save our own skin. Islam was the original Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people with the succession of the 124 000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon and Jesus (Peace and blessing be upon them) during the history of mankind, the last replaces and completes the previous, until the succession of the last messenger of God fourteen centuries ago, Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon him) to complete the noble morals of all mankind, to bring humans and jinns out of darkness into light, and to purify people's religion and belief from corruption and polytheism, and return it to purity and true monotheism, like it was in the times of the prophets (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know nowadays, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but their original teachings, history and scriptures have been corrupted over time with falsification and polytheism, or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays, which consists in bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah (God in Aramaic, the original language of Jesus and the Gospel), and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, just like Jesus and Moses and others are His servants and messengers. Never a messenger of God said he was God or literally son of God, it was the people after him who changed the words of God and corrupted the Religion. God is unique and absolute, He does not need to have a family and sons or to associate anyone else with His kingdom, He can simply create whatever He wants, everything belongs to Him, and to Him everything will return. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what it has created, and some of them would have gained supremacy over others. Glory be to God, far beyond what they describe. The Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is exalted, far above what they associate. (91-92 / Translated by ITANI). Allah means the one and only God, the God of all prophets and creatures, the creator of the universe and mankind, and the Master of the Day of judgment, where our destiny, Hell or Paradise, is decided based on our faith and deeds in this trial life, and above all, Allah's mercy. Allah said in Surah Al-Ikhlas : In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. Say, “He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” (1-4 / Translated by ITANI). Allah said in Surah An-Nisa : O FOLLOWERS of the Gospel! Do not overstep the bounds [of truth] in your religious beliefs, and do not say of God anything but the truth. The Christ Jesus, son of Mary, was but God's Apostle - [the fulfilment of] His promise which He had conveyed unto Mary - and a soul created by Him. Believe, then, in God and His apostles, and do not say, "[God is] a trinity". Desist [from this assertion] for your own good. God is but One God; utterly remote is He, in His glory, from having a son: unto Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth; and none is as worthy of trust as God. Never did the Christ feel too proud to be God's servant, nor do the angels who are near unto Him. And those who feel too proud to serve Him and glory in their arrogance [should know that on Judgment Day] He will gather them all unto Himself: (171-172 / Translated by Muhammad Asad). Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning! Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures. Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement. It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them. (19-22 / Translated by Muhammad Asad).. God said : Say, “We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us, and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and in what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them. And to Him, we surrender.” (2:136 / Translated by Community) Salam (Peace) -----
Don't ever forget. Rammstein is one of the biggest acts in Europe. Their live performances are unmatched. Multiple members have pyrotechnic licenses, so able to use those skills during live performances.
Well, Electric Callboy got a british crowd to sing german Schlager :D ua-cam.com/video/vry5JW_sn6M/v-deo.html (But yeah there were *far* more people singing along with Rammstein)
@@geewhiz5926 Well, there was also that little thing between germany and the UK ;). The whole "We shall fight on the beaches" was about german soldiers showing up... uninvited to the UK. (It's europe - we've been at war with each other for centuries. Sometimes even without a break in between...)
@@nestorgc I'm German but I see Rammstein first time '02 in NL at the Pinkpop festival 💓🔥 Funfact: before the concert Rammstein visit the Gig from System of a Down live on Stage
When it comes to events happening like light show and stuff like that its Rammstein. When it comes to crowd its Queen When it comes to actual instruments and vocals its Dragonforce because almost everything you hear is literaly them on the stage singing or playing every background noice or vocal you hear.
Till( leadsinger) is a certified pyrotechnician and he is building those insane pyros in their shows 😄 Fun fact!! Those guys are about 60 years old and still rocking like hell 😄🥰🥰
He's also certifiably crazy. In the video for Ich Tu Dir Weh, he has this light effect in his mouth. I looked up how he was doing that, and as far as I could tell, the wire going to his cheek actually pierced his cheek for the tour so he could do that effect.
Till would have a collegue choose certain women out the audience and invite them backstage for a gangbang...by himself!! 🤣 My m8 was chosen at a Birmingham gig, said was cracking night! 🤟👏
I saw them on tour when I was 15 years old and they had just broken through here in the States on the back of this single. Just incredible with the pyrotechnics, fireworks flying everywhere. Lead singer had a dildo hanging out of his pants for most of the show and was shooting milk out onto the audience with it. Couldn't understand a word they said but the show was the most interesting one I have ever seen.
I rode a month long concert high after finally seeing them for the first time. I want a time machine just so I can go back and see concerts I never got a chance to see.
I am 17 years old and come from Germany. I grew up with Rammstein. Even when I was 3 years old, my parents sat me in front of the TV and turned on Rammstein videos. I was always perfectly happy watching them, my favorite thing to do (and I still do) is to watch the concert live from Paris. My parents have seen Rammstein live quite often. My mother has probably seen them 10 times now. I saw them live for the first time in 2019, then in 2022 and now last week I went to the dress rehearsal in we were standing front of stage (Feuerzone= Firezone), for which my mother won tickets, and I'm going to see Rammstein live again at the end of the summer. I'm already incredibly excited! I have to say that Rammstein concerts are not like normal concerts, I've seen a lot of bands like Green Day, Coldplay and Kiss but no show can compete with Rammstein. Not only the show is amazing, but also the lyrics, especially as a German native speaker you understand the background and in a completely different way. No live act has ever made me cry but when Rammstein opened the show in Prague last week with Ramm4, tears were streaming down my face because it meant everything to me. Rammstein is not just a band for many, many associate them with special memories and just a good time. For me, Rammstein is childhood!
The song is a play on the closeness of 2 German words as others have mentioned. Du Hast and Du Hasst (You have and you hate) "You, you have (hate), you have (hate) me" Then it turns the song around when it is followed by "mich gefragt". Then you know it's "You have asked me". When he follows up with "und ich hab nichts gesagt" what means "And I said nothing". And the "Willst du bis der tod euch sheidet, treu ihr sein fur alle tage" (Will you be faithful to her all your days, till death do you part?). That last part is the text of the German wedding vows. Which ends by an angelic sounding woman's voice singing "Jaaaaa" (yes) then he shouts over it, "Nein" (No!) I am not a native German speaker so I hope I got the spellings and translations correct enough to be understood.
Loved how everyone’s head was banging after the first couple notes, haha. Really appreciate y’all showing Rammstein some love. Also, their Deutschland music video is a TRIP! It’s basically a montage of all German history: the good, the bad, and the truly horrific. All the band members-if I recall correctly-are from East Germany, and their love/hate relationship with Germany as a nation is communicated perfectly through that song. It’s worth a look.
I came here to say the exact same thing 😂 also, if you’re not that knowledgeable on symbolism and German history, there is a really amazing deep dive video that shows just how much of a masterpiece this music video is
I stopped watching after they weirdly had a black lady being a general or something, I'm also sick of feeling like I'm supposed to expect something about the N a z i s anytime Germany is brought up, we don't talk about the B o l s h e v i k leaders everytime someone mentions the "sweJ" despite them doing far worse to Europe
...and then the recently published 'Zeit' and 'Adieu' videos. You will also find official Rammstein videos of their sold out Madison Square Garden shows with thousands of your fellow Americans singing all German lyrics word for word.... Mind-blowing for me as a native German.... 🤘🏻🤯🤘🏻🎉
Rammstein's concerts are LEGENDARY for the effects due to the fact that band members are all well trained (even if not certified) in the use of pyrotechnics and electronica engineering. Due to this, mostly "hobby" for the members, they have worked with some of the best people in the business to create visuals that will blow your mind. NOBODY who has been to a concert has been disappointed.
I believe the singer either is or used to be a certified pyrotechnic. Ik he was. Dunno if he renews it or if that needs to be renewed haha. But yee. :D
Till is a certified pyrotechnician otherwise he would not be permitted to put on a spectacle as Paris or NY for example. Or do you think they let him fire a bazooka over thousands of concert goers heads?!
I got to see these guys live in NYC last fall and holy crap what a crazy live show haha. It’s like a fire circus set to an industrial metal soundtrack. Awesome haha.
Yeah I guessing you don’t have any clue what there live shows are like lol very sick, twisted and gross horrible live shows. What your talking about are there forced live shows where they are required to tone it down legally or face serious consequences.
I saw these guys lube once, and their performance was excellent! But honestly, no one puts on a better show than slipknot. I've seen them live almost 10 times and they keep getting better live somehow!
I am fluent in German, and in the beginning, I was afraid of Rammstein's music. Only after really opering up, and closely listening to their lyrics I realised, how deep, honest, and healing their music is.
It's pure love in that arena. No songs about killing or disrespect unless depictional. They might not look like it but rock/metal in general are the nicest people you will ever meet
1000% agree, kind and gentle free spirits. Living in LA I met a lot of metal band members, crew, sound engineers and their friends. Met at different random parties, or clubs like The Rainbow Room, where I was in the VIP access area in the kitchen and a terrace. I was actually formally introduced (by my friend) to Bret Michael's! I miss random LA life, it's a trip lol
A friend turned me onto Rammstein about 20ish years ago. I've been a fan ever since. You don't need to understand a word, to enjoy the feel of the music. Love it!
It helps when you do though, like most Germans they are multilingual and write their music in ways to make clever puns that make sense across multiple languages.
Rammstein are doing lots of word plays in many of their songs. "Du hast" (with one s) means "you have". "Du hasst" (two s) means "you hate". "Du...du has(s)t...du has(s)t mich..." and then "Du hast mich gefragt....du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt" meaning" You asked me and I said nothing". The song is basically about the burden of a wedding vow and about how almost impossible it is for most people to actually stick to the promises included in such a vow. It's about the unwillingness to take on the burden of that vow and all the responsibilities that come with it. (That's my personal interpretation though)
The first lines of the song can have a double meaning; the phrases Du hast and Du hasst mean You have and You hate, respectively, but they are homophones (in the official German it means “you have”). The lyrics to "Du Hast" by Rammstein are from the point of view of an ex-lover who looks back on the relationship and asks the other if he would still be as faithful and devoted to his partner if they were still together. The chorus asks the question, "Will you stay with me 'till death do us part; will you stay true to me all the days of our lives?" The "Yes No" is essentially saying that the answer is "No", suggesting that the partner is not as faithful and loyal as they once claimed. The song is a reflection on relationships that ultimately fail and the sense of disappointment in love that comes from realizing that.
Rammstein is one of the greatest live shows I've been to (multiple times) the amount of pyrotechnics they use is absolutely astounding and makes the whole experience that much more insane. the last time I saw them was a few years back in Detroit during December. The concert hall was freezing but by the time they were halfway through their first song it felt like 1000 degrees.
Im not German but Danish, but if i remember correct its kind of a word play as du hast mich, can or may mean '' you have me'' but it can also mean ''you hate me'' depending on the context.
@@Shifty51991 two different words. hast = haben = to have, hasst = hassen = to hate. nice video guys. Check out this young German artist Sing too ua-cam.com/video/hbjgjvgLzhg/v-deo.html ✨
Du hast means „you have“ and „Du hasst“ (mind the double „s“) means „you hate“. The word „haben“ is used as auxiliary verb in 2nd case. Complete phrase in this song is „du hast mich gefragt“, which is „you have asked me“. It often gets confused and singer Till plays a lot with double meanings of words. Rammstein is a killer band!
This song was my introduction to them. I remember seeing this one morning before school on MTV in 1998. I've been a fan ever since, and I can't wait to see them live.
Best concert of my life. RAMMSTEIN in Chicago 2022 in the crowd. It was everything i had hoped for. Saw them again from the stands in LA a month or so later.
I was watching today Rammstein's "Du hast" at the Moscow concert and started to think what the mayor Moscow of (or someone in his/her organization) was thinking when promoter of Rammstein said:" I have a team of Germans with some 40000 followers here in Moscow and they would like to use heavily flame throwers."
Rammstein is arguably one of the best live bands in the world. They put on amazing pyrotechnics in their shows with amazing music. Check out more of them!
I'm from Brazil. You're lucky to be able to see them perform live. One day... perhaps they will come down here. Or I'll fly to Germany to see them. I started to learn German because of them, Till is very easy to grasp, but baby steps...Deutsch ist verdammt schwer, aber ich werde es schaffen.
@@nixdorfbrazil you‘d be more than welcome here 🙌🏻 dein Deutsch klingt schon sehr gut, mach weiter so 👏🏻 I’ve heard from so many people that Rammstein inspired them to learn German, that’s also why they’re kind of viewed as ambassadors of the German language :) keep going, and greetings to Brazil 🇧🇷
This is one of my favorite songs, when this song came out back in the day I was like “yes thank you!” One more thing I wanna say is the way they captivate an audience is nothing short of spectacular. Imagine you’re that band on stage and this huge venue full of people and they’re all singing in unison and on key, I might add!
The wedding vows are in these lines: "Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein, für alle Tage?" (Will you until death separates you both, be true to her for all days?" The backing choir says "Ja" (yes), but then Till says "Nein!" (no) Later in the song it changes a bit: Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide, sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen?" As written, this means: "Will you until the death, which separates, love her even in bad days?" BUT - Nouns in German are capitalized, and if you write it this way: "Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide...", the exact same words would become: "Will you until the death of the sheath/vagina, love her even in bad days?" English is a Germanic language, so there are a LOT of similarities in many words, and *some* of the basic grammar is still kinda similar. More complex sentences get more complex grammar. German and Old English/Anglo Saxon were much more similar, that's how far apart the languages have become. I learned German, but a lot of Asian languages are much tougher, as well as the Slavic languages (Polish, Russian, Hungarian, etc.)
Rammstein sold out Madison Square Garden within 30 minutes of ticket release when they toured America after a long break in the early 2000s. They moved to America as a band before and toured for a long time through the US states but got kind of tired of the stress (everything by bus iirc) and homesick so they went back to Germany became big here too and then I think it was the album "Völkerball" where they made a new tour in the US. Another thing to be amazed by: That in front of the band is a french crowd (french people are infamous for only talking with you in french) and the full place sings the German song with the band.
You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing [Chorus] Do you want, until death separates you To be faithful to her for all days (Yes) No (Yes) No Do you want, until death, which would separate To love her, even in bad days (Yes) No (Yes) No [Verse] You, you have, you have me You, you have, you have me [Pre-Chorus] You, you have, you have me You have me, you asked me You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing
Seeing Rammstein live is a surreal experience. They rarely come to the US but I’ve seen them twice. Once in Florida and last year in Texas. There is so much pyro that the first time I saw them I started looking for the fire exits during the very first song. Serious. I have video from last year where there was so much smoke in the Alamodome you could only see about 5 rows ahead of you. People always say they look dirty or sweaty but they are actually covered in fire retardant gel and if you see them in concert you will know why. You don’t need to know German to see them, just do it for the experience if you have the chance.
You guys, your face expressions are hilarious! 😂😂 I`m 55 years old and still headbangs to Rammstein! I have seen them live 1 time ( plans to see them again this year) and it was one of the best konserts I`ve seen, they are absolutely crazy!!! Recommend you to listen to SEHNSUCHT live in Berlin 1998. Also ICH TU DIR WEH, check out the video!. Two favorites among many! Rock on boys!! 🤘🤘🤘
I got to see them last summer in Montreal at Jean Drapeau park. I highly recommend you check out some footage of their latest stage: the kit is almost 3 stories high, the lighting and pyrotechnics have been doubled and there's 4 giant, flame throwing torches set up around the floor with the crowd ( I stood right next to one ). I was a stage tech for 7 years and I've set up tons of shows, but I've never seen anything as beautiful as this massive rig in full action ❤🔥
Saw them in concert a few years ago in Tampa, Florida. Best live performance I've ever seen. Look at some of their you tube videos. They are all different and very creative. I don't care what the words mean. Everyone gets the awesomeness.
I was able to see them in LA last fall. They play in open air stadiums because of the pyrotechnics. There was just so very much fire. It was awesome. I also think it's the only band where the keyboardist is crazier than the drummer. He spent most of the concert walking on a treadmill in a sparkly track suit while playing the keyboard.
Hello from Germany guys! My wife and I are stationed there right now. Myself being born and raised in Vienna, Austria. The song is a deep play on words. Beginning with Du hast (hasst) mich (could mean that you hate me) Then going further by singing Du hast mich gefragt.... (You asked me...) Ramstein concerts are sold out in the US all the time because of the crazy show that they deliver! We watch your stuff all the time. Keep doing what you are doing.
6:17 can confirm that is real, not that there is any question. Just saw them live recently, they did the same thing there. Show was phenomenal..all the pyro stuff is real =)
It's a play on words between Hast and Hasst, one is a second person verb meaning (to) hate and the other is a second or third person verb meaning (to) have.
I remember rocking out to Rammstein back in the late 90s. Many garage parties on the pool table contained this group being blasted on 10 12in speakers. Y'all should have rocked out on the album version.
Yes, The underground music scene was awesome back in the 90's. None of their music got airtime in USA but they damn sure got rocked at the after parties!
In 1997 (at age 14) I went to one of their concerts in Ludwigshafen. Till sang "Ein Mensch brennt" (A human/person is burning), while literally being on fire (in a heat repellant suit) and being shoved through the crowd. It was insane.
I saw this band live at the o2 in London UK in 2012. Literally was a life changing experience and was the starting point on my metal music journey. Now it's a big part of my life and I go to as many metal gigs and festivals I can. This band are very important to me ❤
Rammstein is the best live band ever! Always use pyro in their shows. Saw a few times. Last summer their show was a blast and will see them again this summer. Also amazing song are: 'deutschland', 'radio', 'ich will', 'Sonne', 'zeit', 'angst',... The lyrics are fantastic, always have a meaning or message.
I am 65 and have been going to concerts since 1973. I have seen many 100's of shows over the decades. Rammstein is THE BEST live show I have ever experienced! They don't tour the US often, or extensively...the first time I saw them at Chicago Open Air Fest (2016?), it was their one and only US show that year. I have seen them 3 more times since then and I am still blown away(😜) by their performances. If you ever get the opportunity to see them, don't hesitate...GO!🤘
Welcome to the Rammstein family boys! Rammstein are literally one of the VERY few bands that do movie budget level music videos and their love gigs are things of legend!
@@narmale True! I wonder if there's a single music video out there that can even dream about competing with Deutschland. It's epic! And so are their shows!
thats the mark of great artists... nothing is the same and yet so pointedly great from their own unique POV... Deutschland is amazing... but Zeit honestly hits harder for an emotional of just how brutal time is... im so glad i went to see them... even if the lineup wasn't the greatest and everyone wouldn't get off their damn phones... >:(
The keyboardist felt like he was kinda standing just there so he thought he might as well use that time to exercise. He can even control the speed of the treadmill.
Rammstein is GOLD. Love how they have deeeeeep stories in the songs, not afraid to tell history as it is etc and double meanings. LOVE. Greetings from Finland
Its hard to believe these guys have never heard of Rammstein?? They have sold over 10 Million albums worldwide, they are the single biggest band out of Germany - ever . This concert they are watching is in France, and you have thousands and thousands of French people chanting in German... That should give you some appreciation of how massive Rammstein is on the world stage.
I think the Scorpions have them beat. Most people know Eye of the Tiger and Rock you like a Hurricane. As for record sales Rammstein has sold 100 million not 10 million same as the Scorpions.
Rammstein is a little bigger act in Europe than in the US. Further, a band can sell *20* million albums worldwide while selling not a single one in the US -- something to do with more people living outside the US than in the US.
Fun fact that you may not remember from a great movie that you’ve probably seen; in How High, when Method Man is trying to wake up Redman, he’s blasting this song while waving a joint in front of his nose. As a huge Quentin fan and a fan of Rammstein, I don’t see how/where Reservoir Dogs was reflected in this live video?!
Glad you guys all liked it. I saw them for the first time in San Antonio, in 2022 and mined you, I wasn't a fan, but I had free tickets. This was by far, the best concert I have ever seen and loudest, ever! I've seen over 200 concerts, in my lifetime. I'm a huge fan now.
Hello, good night everyone. My name is Eduardo and I am from Montevideo, Uruguay. I've been following them for a while and I love seeing how they react to different songs from different bands. I want to recommend a very good German band, called Crematroy. There are a couple of songs that you might like, one is called Shadowmaker and the other is Everything. They are from different discs. I also recommend listening to his latest albums, as they are great in every way. I send you a tight hug from Uruguay and I hope you like it.
by the way, you might know this song, because it was in the opening scene of the movie "triple X" by Vin Diesel . The Band playing while the first spy get shot IS Rammstein
Oh my gosh! I love this reaction vid. I’m obsessed with Rammstein. Listen to “Sonne”. It was written in 2001 as a ring entrance song for a super-heavyweight Ukrainian boxer. So kickass
What's crazy is the lead singer Till Lindemann has great crowd control, but he suffers a lot from stage fright. What's crazy is he and I think the rest of the band are certified pyrotechnics, meaning they can do a lot with fire and explosions and they do a lot of that on stage. He showed up on fire once and sang a song, had a bow and arrow on fire, shot a flame thrower at the keyboardist in a huge baby carriage. They put on a crazy show, I think Revovler or one of these metal channels put up a top 10 Rammstein pyrotechnics shows too. Good band, been listening to them since they were on the Mortal Kombat soundtrack, found their albums shortly after that.
I saw them 2 years ago when they came to San Antonio. Seeing them live is an experience. Hands down one of the best concerts ever. Their use of pyrotechnics is unmatched. Best concert in the world...
These guys have some truly beautiful music, some hilarious onstage antics, and simple pounders like this. It's pretty cool to be with 70 thousand people laughing, crying, and chanting. And sweating of course, they burn so much jet fuel in your face you feel like a hot link getting grilled.
@@scarletred8888 I rode 6 hours and paid $$$ to see (the next) concert. When I heard it took 17 trucks to move the stage and 3 days to build it I realized that I will never live to see a production of that caliber again. I bet if they do another tour it will be minimalist and I will sell your organs to be in the front row. Don't answer your phone, we always know where you are. Sorry, creepy Germans are in my head. Sleep well.
Im 74 now and this is one of my FAVE albums. Got me a big old amp and really good speakers and I can hear it at concert levels. This song was an immediate fave first time I heard it.
I about fell over seeing you guys vibing to this song in 2023. ❤ I remember when this came out back in 1997. I'm from Germany and they were (and still are) HUGE. They do tours in the US in major cities. Definitely check out their other works. Til Lindemann is a poet. His lyrics are always riddled with hidden meanings. Sadly some of the translations I've read online are really off the mark. You guys are awesome. I'm a new sub and have been watching your vids all day already, lol.
8:11 for native English speakers, German isn't as hard, since English and German are sister languages. The pronunciation is a bit different, but once you get it down the words between both languages are similar with minor spelling differences. The real difference in syntax is with German, the action verb is spoken at the end of a sentence, otherwise the structure is similar to English.
I find the grammar so hard, but a lot of the vocabulary is quite easy to learn. I do get tripped up by a lot of similar words as well. It’s such a nice language to listen to, so I’m really trying to be fluent!
I remember hearing a German friend talking to his parents in German. I don't remember the exact words he spoke but I understood he was asking his parents for money to purchase flowers for a girl he liked. Because of the similar linguistic root.
I'm a Brazilian that has lived in Germany for two different opportunities and while I was learning German, it was always easier to make some comparisons to things that I knew from English... the phrases structures and even lots of words (I-Ich ; Have-Habe ; Morning-Morgen...) are very similar... it was much easier to assimilate comparing to English than trying to do the same with Portuguese
Thank you for that explanation!
@FatevsFate
I feel you. Explaining this sentence alone can turn into an essay or lecture. Not even mentioning the historical and sociological symbolism in the " Deutschland " video which even the majority of germans wont recognize. That would be a whole workshop 😉
Thanks
Thank you for beating me to it and saving me the trouble lol
I am readily willing to admit that I am stupid but I don't understand what you're saying as it relates to the overall lyrics/message...
The fact that thousands of French people are singing, voluntarily, in German, in the center of Paris. Says enough. These guy
s are legendary.

i can repeat the lyrics too. i have seen them live. might not know the meaning of the lyrics though !!!

And to Him, we surrender.”

I'd like to see them and Tool together.
Saw them twice live around 10 years ago. Can confirm human existence peaked there.
This is why Germans are so flipping metal. Rammstein at 3. Respect.
Which ends by an angelic sounding woman's voice singing "Jaaaaa" (yes) then he shouts over it, "Nein" (No!)
I am not a native German speaker so I hope I got the spellings and translations correct enough to be understood.
As a native german speaker I can say… Du hast 😁
Beautiful
Respect, you got it 99,9% right (it's "scheidet"). Great job actually! 🙂
" Du Hast and Du Hasst (You have and you hate)"
As a dutch kid growing up with german tv this confused me for a good while.
One should not employ circular logic, yet if they do...maybe they should listen to Rammstein first. That is interesting.
Great recommendation thanks!
@@scarletred8888 Sure thing!
I came here to say the exact same thing 😂 also, if you’re not that knowledgeable on symbolism and German history, there is a really amazing deep dive video that shows just how much of a masterpiece this music video is

...and then the recently published 'Zeit' and 'Adieu' videos. You will also find official Rammstein videos of their sold out Madison Square Garden shows with thousands of your fellow Americans singing all German lyrics word for word....

A friend turned me onto Rammstein about 20ish years ago. I've been a fan ever since. You don't need to understand a word, to enjoy the feel of the music. Love it!
Right, some of the best music is lyric-less or in another language!
It helps when you do though, like most Germans they are multilingual and write their music in ways to make clever puns that make sense across multiple languages.
Du hast = you have , du hasst = you hate. Du hast mich gefragt = you have asked me. In German it has a double meaning as hast and hasst sounds equal.
one in the video said it already with the word homonyme
Well said
The meaning is simple, you asked me, you asked me and I said nothing. Then you get the wedding vows and he say no to them
👍🏻thank you man
Genau
Danke!
Rammstein is one of the greatest live shows I've been to (multiple times) the amount of pyrotechnics they use is absolutely astounding and makes the whole experience that much more insane. the last time I saw them was a few years back in Detroit during December. nice video guys. Check out this young German artist Sing too ua-cam.com/video/hbjgjvgLzhg/v-deo.html ✨
It's two different words pronounced the same
Du hast means „you have“ and „Du hasst“ (mind the double „s“) means „you hate“. The word „haben“ is used as auxiliary verb in 2nd case. Complete phrase in this song is „du hast mich gefragt“, which is „you have asked me“.
It often gets confused and singer Till plays a lot with double meanings of words.

The wedding vows are in these lines:
"Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein, für alle Tage?" (Will you until death separates you both, be true to her for all days?" The backing choir says "Ja" (yes), but then Till says "Nein!" (no)
Later in the song it changes a bit:
Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide, sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen?" As written, this means: "Will you until the death, which separates, love her even in bad days?"
BUT - Nouns in German are capitalized, and if you write it this way: "Willst du bis zum Tod der Scheide...", the exact same words would become: "Will you until the death of the sheath/vagina, love her even in bad days?"
English is a Germanic language, so there are a LOT of similarities in many words, and *some* of the basic grammar is still kinda similar. More complex sentences get more complex grammar. German and Old English/Anglo Saxon were much more similar, that's how far apart the languages have become. I learned German, but a lot of Asian languages are much tougher, as well as the Slavic languages (Polish, Russian, Hungarian, etc.)
Many years ago when my mom was homeless they were trying to help her out. Truly phenomenal people!
You, you have, you have me
You, you have, you have me
You, you have, you have me

To be faithful to her for all days
(Yes) No
(Yes) No
Do you want, until death, which would separate
To love her, even in bad days
(Yes) No
(Yes) No
[Verse]
You, you have, you have me
You, you have, you have me
[Pre-Chorus]
You, you have, you have me
You have me, you asked me
You asked me, you asked me and I said nothing
This song was my intro to Rammstein and I was instantly hooked! Recommend "Engel." 🙂❤
These guys put on such a show, that when they played a concert in Coventry 🇬🇧, they were heard 11 miles away!! 🤘🤘
Just for the knowledge (German Person here)
"Du hasst mich" would mean "You hate me",
"Du hast mich" however means "You have me"
You guys, your face expressions are hilarious! 🤘🤘🤘
You NEED to see Rammstein in concert! THEN YOU WILL FEEL EVERYTHING ❤❤❤❤
You won't even touch the floor for 2hours.
This aged poorly

Huh? WRONG
@@shellwilliams6306 watch kayla Shyx Rammstein after party Video. You'll read your comment with diffrent eyes xD.
@@codebene0842What the f*** are you sayin? They're still around They age beautifully f*** you and f*** your comment
You have to see them live. There stage presence is beyond description. I'm 61 and hope to see them again before I leave this world.
I come across this band 12months ago and absolutely love them and I'm 61 tooo
I got to see them last summer in Montreal at Jean Drapeau park. I highly recommend you check out some footage of their latest stage: the kit is almost 3 stories high, the lighting and pyrotechnics have been doubled and there's 4 giant, flame throwing torches set up around the floor with the crowd ( I stood right next to one ). I was a stage tech for 7 years and I've set up tons of shows, but I've never seen anything as beautiful as this massive rig in full action ❤🔥
There’s no denying the raw energy in this performance.
Flake is the best! He wrote two really funny books as well, but im not sure if they were translated in english.
I been to the show 2 times im from holland! U have to go guys when they are in the usa this show is amazing u will never forget
Their guitarist Richard kruspe is so underrated. He can write some killer riffs
Absolutely 💪🏻
Towards the end of Amour, Amour he plays a little, barely audible riff that makes the hairs on my arms stand on end.
Hello from Germany guys! My wife and I are stationed there right now.
Myself being born and raised in Vienna, Austria.
The song is a deep play on words.
Beginning with Du hast (hasst) mich (could mean that you hate me)
Then going further by singing Du hast mich gefragt.... (You asked me...)
Ramstein concerts are sold out in the US all the time because of the crazy show that they deliver!
Their concerts are an experience. Absolutely phenomenal live shows.
In 1997 (at age 14) I went to one of their concerts in Ludwigshafen. Till sang "Ein Mensch brennt" (A human/person is burning), while literally being on fire (in a heat repellant suit) and being shoved through the crowd. It was insane.
They had only just started at the time. That was a once in a lifetime experience.
This song always gives me goosebumps and their live shows are badass! Great reaction!
Same
I saw this band live at the o2 in London UK in 2012.
Rammstein are literally one of the VERY few bands that do movie budget level music videos and their love gigs are things of legend!
they REALLY need to watch Deutschland!!!!!
. . . Sabaton has entered the chat . . .
The guy walking the treadmill is killing me.😂😂😂
The keyboardist felt like he was kinda standing just there so he thought he might as well use that time to exercise. He can even control the speed of the treadmill.
@@carlitos4815 I'm with it bro, Rammstein is sick. They got a crazy strong following!!
It’s awesome!!
Gotta get those steps in
Living legends...i am from Greece and see them allot of times live, amazing performers!!!👍👍🔥
The guy in green gets it. Doing the classic Till Hammer dance move almost immediately! Love this reaction!
Rammstein is GOLD. Love how they have deeeeeep stories in the songs, not afraid to tell history as it is etc and double meanings. LOVE. Greetings from Finland
I was at 3 concerts of rammstein the experience is unbelivable. The crowd goes crazy and is amazing
They never heard about Tarantino....
That was a great concert in San Antonio.
You guys have gotta watch more of these guys, their videos are crazy and the meaning behind some of their songs is just insane!! Great reaction!!
We metal fans are very much immersed into these concerts. It's one of the best experiences ever!!!
Just came back from Rammstein concert in San Sebastián although I live in Germany. Loved it.
Guys you definitely need to do more Rammstein! This is industrial German metal. It does not get any harder.
ENGEL!
Einsturzende Neubauten.😉
It can get harder - try listen to "Dead", it´s a Grindcore band from Nuremburg :D
Actually it get, Rammstein fathers namely the Laibach are harder.
Mann gegen Mann!
I was introduced to Rammstein in about '96, saw them in concert three times, amazing show every time...
Tears of time
You dudes need to see them perform their song "Feuer Frei" live! Trust me!
👆🏻 this
by the way, you might know this song, because it was in the opening scene of the movie "triple X" by Vin Diesel . The Band playing while the first spy get shot IS Rammstein
Oh my gosh! I love this reaction vid. I’m obsessed with Rammstein. Listen to “Sonne”. It was written in 2001 as a ring entrance song for a super-heavyweight Ukrainian boxer. So kickass
It's simple. You know it's a banger when the entire crowd is singing it
What's crazy is the lead singer Till Lindemann has great crowd control, but he suffers a lot from stage fright.
One of my regrets is that I've never seen a Rammstein live show. They are phenomenal!! Love these guys!! ❤
I saw them 2 years ago when they came to San Antonio. Seeing them live is an experience. Hands down one of the best concerts ever. Their use of pyrotechnics is unmatched. Best concert in the world...
Rammstein is the only reason some French people would ever speak German.
Same for Americans and many other nations. We learned just enough to sing Rammstein songs 😊
Tokio Hotel?🤭
I saw Rammstein live in Philly back in august and it was the best concert of my life! I’ve been a fan since I was 14 years old, their music is amazing
I was there too and yes best concert of my life!! You could feel the heat!
I saw them in Montreal last August. It blew my mind! Best live show EVER!!
These guys have some truly beautiful music, some hilarious onstage antics, and simple pounders like this. It's pretty cool to be with 70 thousand people laughing, crying, and chanting. And sweating of course, they burn so much jet fuel in your face you feel like a hot link getting grilled.
I have only ever seen this group on tv, they look amazing with such an industrial iconic look but they scare the life out of me!
Sleep well.
@@scarletred8888 Saw them last year live in Zürich Switzerland, truly an amazing experience of a lifetime
Im 74 now and this is one of my FAVE albums. Got me a big old amp and really good speakers and I can hear it at concert levels. This song was an immediate fave first time I heard it.
Love it when the heads all start going. 😆 Who can sit still to that driving intro!
Been rocking to these amazing guys for years...excellent live shows!!!
the most amazing things is its a German band playing in Paris and a packed French crowd singing in German
Love how all music brings people together. Love it!
If you check their channel they are Trump supporters. They don't bring people together.
Seeing these guys live in San Antonio in 2022 was easily the greatest moment of my life so far. The music, the atmosphere, the FIRE was all just 🤌🤌🤌
wonderful, some songs from Rammstein, absolut great. Einfach die Besten !
Makes you want to learn German. Even though I don't know German, I love to watch their videos.
It amazing how, with 5 heads in the room, so much of every song they react to goes right over them every time.
I still think latin is a easier language to learn as a English speaker
if english is a sister languages, then dutch is the twin of germany
I remember hearing a German friend talking to his parents in German. I don't remember the exact words he spoke but I understood he was asking his parents for money to purchase flowers for a girl he liked. Because of the similar linguistic root.
I'm a Brazilian that has lived in Germany for two different opportunities and while I was learning German, it was always easier to make some comparisons to things that I knew from English... the phrases structures and even lots of words (I-Ich ; Have-Habe ; Morning-Morgen...) are very similar... it was much easier to assimilate comparing to English than trying to do the same with Portuguese
