It takes a lot of patience to refurbish that chandelier. Well done Billy! Congratulations Michael on sealing the terrace, maybe once you have completed it you should run a dehumidifier in the kitchen to dry it out. Rick’s paint job look great! 🙏❤️
Before you ask about the 5:22 tiles in America try the tile maker called Craven Dunnill Jackfield Ltd in Shropshire. They have been there for hundreds of years and make all types of tiles.
That was a nice surprise to see Rick doing the intro, well done Rick. Michael has done a wonderful job so far on the terrace as he showed that there is no leaking inside the kitchen.
Thank you once again for your video, great to see Rick looking so well now. Beautiful chandelier Billy such a lot of tedious work putting it together but well done. I’m sure you will manage to get tiles from somewhere Michael. It seems in the comments that there are suggestions that may help. Congratulations to all of you, 👌🏻👏👏💝💝
The yellow bedroom looks beautiful. Love the chandelier you are working on, but a pain in the butt. The chateau looks stunning with all the doors and woodwork painted. Much love to you all ❤
3"x6"x.25" ivory beveled gloss subway wall tiles are readily available at tile stores in the US for no more than $1 each. A chain called The Tile Shop has them for $7.39 per sq. ft. (8 tiles). They have an online site and ship, although I don't know whether that includes France.
I see ivory gloss and matte on The Tile Shop's website, but not crackle. I'm not seeing as many of the beveled subway options as I think I saw a few years ago.
Mineral tiles, ivory, 46.95/box of 80 tiles. Home Depot, white, 29 cents each or 23.19/case. The tile shop, ivory, gloss or matte, 7.39/sq ft, 84 tiles per box. There were plenty of other shopping options.
The ship painting would look great over the fireplace!! Use a pressure washer on the kitchen floor! I would paint over the stains on the tiles....you can match the color Michael!
No! Do not paint the tiles. Once they're all well cleaned, leave the "patina" as Michael put it. It's just another page in the history and story of the Chateau
The difference of Size between the European and American Tiles seems so very tiny! But, more important I think than Size, is the color! And Bravo to Michael for the Terrace! Anxious to watch some Drone shots.
We redid a bathroom a few years ago and we ran short. I found the correct size and a friend of mine painted the faux marble look and fired them - stunning!
That chandelier is gorgeous!!❤ I can't wait to see that basement kitchen evolve!! In the US we have a product called Magic Erasers, it might help clean those tiles.
Also St Louis has a lot of old buildings and I think they have in like an old building restore where they said things that have been taken out of mansions that have either been updated or rebuilt and use it as like a building thrift store
Yes. I've previously suggested the self-same thing a couple of times. But now that I think about it, contacting the Paris Metro to find out where they get their replacement tiles for their older parts of their network from could be worthwhile. Chances are that the chateau tiles and the Metro system tiles came from the same manufacturer (since they were probably made around the same time period) and who may still be in existence. Alternatively, Michael, surely there's a historical preservation organisation/s, either for transport or buildings, in France that could assist with the sourcing of such tiles. Lateral thinking is great, but try looking closer to home for an easier solution first, if for no other reason than the logistical one.
Hi Michael, try white distilled vinegar to remove the mould spots on the tiles. Vinegar is safe to use on glazed tiles and much more effective than bleach to kill the mould. Also - eco friendly. Start with a 50/50 water and vinegar mix - increase vinegar ratio on stubborn areas.
Have you thought of taking the kitchen tiles off a small wall and replacing them with the closest match you can find, then put the original tiles you removed in spaces on the larger walls where tiles are missing?
Great work Michael, such tedious work is what it takes to restore for the future and you guys have a most awesome crew to get it right and fun to be around...crack on boys...!
with reference to the tiles, I would imagine the best thing to do is recover a small section of tiles from a small wall, and use those to fix your various gaps. and the white tiles can be grouped into one section.
I have those tiles in my kitchen not cream though white I got mine from B&Q They probably are not the right sizing though . Glad you have no links now after your hard works Michael. Nice job Rick looks nice and bright now. Lovely photo of your boys Billy♥
Michael I have that same tile in my bathroom we renovated two years ago although I have never seen it with a crackle finish. It is readily available from tile stores here in Texas
Daltile has a 3x6 beveled tile in their Color Wheel collection so there are lots of colors in both matte and gloss. I work at a design firm and can help get you samples if you need.
It’s so nice to see Nick more and Michael too! I wish Simon would record what he is doing from where ever he is and incorporate it in. And I hope Yanis keeps cracking on and keeps practicing what Simon taught him. What a wonderful thing he has done for the young man!
I found the tiles online they were listed as Imperial Ivory Bevel Gloss Ceramic Subway Wall Tile - 3 x 6 in. on an online store called tile shop. Hope this helps you.
We have a major problem in my area trying to keep white tiles and grout clean. I have tried just about everything but what has worked best for me is cleaning vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it on and leave it for 15 minutes and then use a stiff brush on the tile and a grout cleaning brush on the grout. You do have to use cleaning vinegar as cooking vinegar is not strong enough. Hope you try this and it works for you.
I have been watching for a while and I really enjoy that you are restoring something from the past. It is certainly inspiring and I really wish I had some skill and gumption to do that. I wish nothing but the best in all of your efforts.
Michael, try to clean the tiles with white vinegar. Also, yay for American inches! Lol! 😂🙌🏻 Billy, the chandelier is looking lovely, and all of the windows are looking lovely as well Rick! 😊
There is a place here called the tile shop. They carry the tiles I know because we were just looking to replace our back splash. They’re not a crackle finish though if you ask they might be able to get them, in the correct size, and width. Though the width isn’t as important since you can put thicker mortar
@The Pethericks I got my 'subway tiles' rom Home Depot in Canada. They are as thick as the old ones you have and with the beveled edges. Mine are white, not sure if you can get different colours. I am sure you could! I have an extra box, though they would stand out against the cream colour already there. lol
Love all your videos but I just wanted to mention that in the series Belgravia The Next Chapter, one of the characters was named Madam Baismagnee 😊, and she was from a Chateau in the North of France in the story.
Called it right away, but your boys look SO much like you & Michael when you were young! Love all the amazing people that are on your evolving restoration team. You must be counting your lucky stars daily. It's clear why we all love your channel so much! ❤
I will do some research. Ill get with my son who may know how to get your tiles. Many people here in the USA are remodeling old homes from that time period. My son does some of that remodeling. I'll be in touch.
Pool tile cleaner. Years ago a client had an imported Italian tile swimming pool , the house had sat for years without pool maintenance. We cleaned the mold with a gental acidic pool cleaner. Didn't damage the tile finish at all. I was amazed. The peach colored pool looked beautiful.
Hello from New York! I’m getting results by looking for 3X6” beveled subway tiles. Here is one from The Tile Shop - Imperial Bevel Subway tile in Ivory Matt or Gloss - $7.39 square foot. Looks similar to your tile.
Billy - the hollow , glazed over eyes REALLY tells the story of just how tedious it is to re hang the glass beads on the chandelier 😳😩 …. It’s all looking so beautiful !! ❤
I wonder if you made a paste out of Oxyclean and apply it to your molded tiles if that would help remove the stains? I will keep my eyes open for your 3x6” tiles. Nice work on the bedroom !
I love your pet pig ! Mascot of the chateaux !! Listening to Ricks accent.... would you some day tell where all the chateaux and convent came from? Just being nosey !
If mold has discolored the underglaze then you will need to kill that first. Next, get a tile and have some paint for tiles made up that matches the tiles then paint the tiles to hide the stains. After that paint has dried you will want to get some clear sealant to seal off the surface from further stains. It will be a long process but the only other option is to find more of the tiles or some close enough to replace the damaged ones. I would recommend installing a dehumidifier in the room to reduce the moisture content. What you will want for the dirty floor is an industrial floor cleaner. You can help the process along by getting a pump sprayer and wetting the floor. Next, get a shovel or shovel-like tool that is made of plastic or a broom made of stiff rubber tines. Use the tool to agitate the dirt on the floor with the liquid and that may break it up enough to start vacuuming it up to the point a mop could be used.
You need to use Clove oil to kill the mould & mildew in the kitchen. Bleach does only that, it bleaches. It does not kill the mould. Traditionally known for its antibacterial and mould inhibiting properties. Clove oil is an excellent natural cleaner and mould inhibitor. I found some similar on the Flooring Brothers website. They are called Adex USA Hampton 3x6 Beveled Tile & Stone. It is crackled in a bone color.
It takes a lot of patience to refurbish that chandelier. Well done Billy! Congratulations Michael on sealing the terrace, maybe once you have completed it you should run a dehumidifier in the kitchen to dry it out. Rick’s paint job look great! 🙏❤️
Cannot wait for the sandblasting of the kitchen ironwork. That will be something to see for sure.
So wonderful to see Rick’s smiling face!
And great job on the intro. Two thumbs up.

I so admire everyone's determination to get things done, no matter how tedious! Bravo!
That chandelier is worth every tedious second! Gorgeous! I hope you find the tiles…they are out there somewhere! 😊

That’s what I’m going to start saying about my face!! - It has PATINA! 🤣🥰😂
Gwen must be pleased she has waited for all this work to be done. 👍👍❤️
I think I am more excited about the Chateau kitchen than I was about the Convent one, which kept me totally enthralled!
Just realized,, Yannis' is an Apprentice EVERYTHING! Great work!
I love Yannis!!! He’s so sweet!!!

Ohh .. the music .. the cinematography .. the wonderful people & the whole content .. I just love your channel Billy 👏 😊

Wow great work Michael that was a long difficult job. Congrats❤

The ship painting would look great over the fireplace!! Use a pressure washer on the kitchen floor! I would paint over the stains on the tiles....you can match the color Michael!
You can refinish tiles but the smell is so strong and there are a lot of tiles to do, so very pricey as well as toxoic.
@@j.v.1973 Just easier to paint over the stains. It's merely cosmetic but inexpensive as well.
No! Do not paint the tiles. Once they're all well cleaned, leave the "patina" as Michael put it. It's just another page in the history and story of the Chateau
@@GayleRussell20 Just the dark spots...not the entire wall of tiles. No big deal. At. All.

LOVE seeing Rick back on the team. Very sweet picture of your little fellas, Billy.
I think that is actually Michael and Billy.
Yes the picture is of Michael (older brother) and Billy! 😊
I was wondering, it didn’t look like contemporary clothing on the boys. But it was a portrait, so…🤷🏻♀️
E Bay has some 3x6 crackled glazed glossy beveled subway ceramic tiles for sale! Seller is square feet depot

London underground are experts in tile repair.
Hahaha! Sounds like first person knowledge!
Not first hand. I am in Oklahoma! Watching Geoff and London Transport Museum.
Home Depot in the USA have these tiles

It was the contractors used, like ISS, I worked for them so know it was Taski Spitfire spray - great stuff

Michael explained that he cannot remove an old tile without it shattering, so could not do what you subgest.
There may be tiles in St Louis, Philadelphia, Cleveland or Boston. There are businesses that sell stuff out of old houses.
Just checked Amazon and several examples of beveled, or champhered, 'subway' tile are displayed for sale.

Where do you get cleaning vinegar? I didn't know there was a difference other that distilled, white, apple cider vinegar.
We have to use iron out. We have well water with a lot of iron in it.
I am in Canada and we buy ours in a grocery store or a hardware store in the cleaning aisle.
That’s a lovely chandelier. A truly calm, relaxed and all out pretty room.
I have been watching for a while and I really enjoy that you are restoring something from the past. It is certainly inspiring and I really wish I had some skill and gumption to do that. I wish nothing but the best in all of your efforts.
You can paint the stained tiles. There are paint products for tile.
Try Landmark Ceramics in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Yes, they have a web site.
Amazing intro, great video. Was wondering if Alex is back? Otherwise your camera work and editing is also great Billy.
Love the jazz..
Omg, agree. I was really zoning out there for a minute.

I had some stubborn stains like that and was suprised to discover WD40 was brilliant at removing them.
Another suggestion is try to get in tough with Nicole Curtis, Rehab Addict, HGTV. This sort of thing is right up her alley.
Our restoration nation on UA-cam might be able to help as well.
Bicarb soda mixed with white vinegar might clean the kitchen tiles.
