Very kind of the carpenter to give you the plans for the chateau’s woodwork. Michael, your enthusiasm for this kitchen restoration is contagious, crack on! 🙏❤️
It would be even better to have that carpenter rebuild them.
Imagine how sentimental it would be for him!!!
@@BradleyFordAusthat's what I was thinking!
What a valuable gift to have the plans for the kitchen at the Chateau! I agree that it is an excellent idea to scan the plans so you will always have a digital copy as well. This project has gotten much more exciting! Well done, Michael!
So glad you have the original plans, they could so easily have been lost! Priceless ☺️
Things happen for a reason and how wonderful the plans are around. I can't help with think Michael would have come up with something very similar on his own!
The
I suspect any company or craftsman who did original work on the chateau may have similar plans or samples. I suspect that paint sample you chose was put out for you to consider because somebody suspected you would be looking for a color similar to the original.😊
Not only do I love watching all the projects being done, but I also enjoy hearing the music chosen for each video.
Totally agree!
I think Alex has influenced Billy edits, they have improved so much.
Someone likes slide / bottleneck guitar that's for certain 😉
I agree. I sometimes replay the video while I’m working just to listen to the music.
Yes the music chosen for each vlog is so appropriate
You already have an aircompressor on hand, why not use a needle scaler to chip the rust inbetween sandblastings? MUCH more efficient than hammer and chisel.
I just learned what a needle scaler is today from another UA-camr The 2nd Empire Strikes Back. He is restoring his Victorian home in St. Louis, Missouri.
A drill with a wire brush probably would work as well as that hammer and chisel.
@diamondperidot I watch The 2nd Empire Strikes Back too!
@@sergeygridchin656 that is an excellent idea! Thank you for sharing!
Michael…….. great plans! Love following your thought process!
I agree. It’s great to have an Artist in the family … one with a peaceful soul. A Joy to hear and see💕
Great vlog guys. Thank goodness someone knew the value of those plans and kept them. Stay well.
Those plans are an absolute treasure. 😊🏴
Michael, those plans were saved for a future visionary like you. So very exciting to have them. Thank you for sharing them with us.
This kitchen will be as epic as the convent kitchen - such an admirable attention to detail. I was wondering, for those of us who came on board with the convent, if a small tour could be conducted? It would help place spaces in relation to each other.
Loving this format: a little convent here, a little chateau there, beautiful music and Michael on board to keep us informed. Many thanks and well done!
May I suggest you go back to the start of Michael’s channel. He gave tours of the chateau 😊
@@chriswilford3576 Will do - thx!
Kitchen is looking great. It's so nice of that company to bring the diagrams of all wood things they made in the château. Thats a real treasure!
To save your drawings place them unfolded between 2 sheets of acid free paper. You can iron the creases out with an iron on low setting with parchment paper between.
Dear Michael, What a joy to have the original Chateau plans. The transformation journey just gets better. Thank you for sharing. Hugs💞
Bravo Michael, you have given us all a great explanation of the kitchen rebuild.👏🙏🥂
I am so so Happy to have Micheal back... he is so talented and inspirational.
Michael seeing these floor plans and your enthusiasm for the the history of the chateau is so very cool 😎 and the desire to bring it back my hats off to you from Texas
I was so excited when I saw the name of the vlog. Michael is so very talented and, oh, how wonderful the plans survived. I'm so glad y'all are renovating the chateau and convent. It could not be in better hands ❤
WOW. Those plans are amazing. Im so glad they kept them and were able to give them to you.
The dividing screen you spoke of and your plan to replace it with a cabinet, reminded me of something similar I once saw, In Santa Fe New Mexico is the old hospital that is now a hotel. Part of that is the original hospital where the nuns lived. It was called Marion Hall. In the dining area was a breakfront that was a beautiful cupboard on one side and on the kitchen side was a shelf unit for the dishes. The side facing the dining area resembled an expensive China hutch, hand-carved in dark oak I think. I will try to locate a picture
I love listening to Micheal explain everything! Passion for the original comes through. It’s so exciting! Can’t wait to see how it all comes out!
I love that Michael and Billy are so in to restoring the chateau back to its original self. It always saddens me when people buy historic homes and then make them modern. You two are amazing. I also love the happiness you both get in all that you do. Be it large or small. What a blessing to have the grandson give you the plans. ❤️
Having some of those plans framed in there would be amazing.
@@atomicrancher3745 Agreed, retired curator here. Scan the originals and fame copies. Disagree about not wearing glovers. Michael had clean hands until he touched his face. That oil on his fingers went on the paper he touched. Always wear gloves. Making digital copies is an awesome idea.
The convent kitchen shines like a diamond.
Being able to have those plans is wonderful.
I’m always amazed at all the projects, time and effort put into each, and exquisite results from all of you.
I am really enjoying Michael’s explanations of everything. The more he explains details the more animated he becomes. Thank you for your interesting details!😊
Having the plans and you showing us is great ,it will be a step back in time when your done.
What an exciting piece of archive you got there. Those drawing are going to be so cool when converted to wood.
I believe that Chestnut also has anti-insect properties that made it quite popular in kitchens.
Idk how you manage to do the daily videos, but thank you!
So glad you addressed the tile not being covered and the fact you were not wearing gloves while handling the documents.
Amazing, how well these sketches have been preserved
The backsplash looks beautiful!!❤
I'm really enjoying the restoration of the Chateau kitchen. Michael is doing a fantastic job. He is so talented.
Such a fabulous chandelier for the space. Well done.
The Convent kitchen is just stunning.
How lucky 🍀 you were to be gifted the original plans for the Chateau kitchen. I love how Michael devours and reinterprets them. Again, I know the expense is huge, but Pethericks do things right, and do them for the long term. These historic buildings are fortunate to be in their care.
The Chateau kitchen has such low ceilings. I’m hoping things can be rigged so it’s just as bright and welcoming as Billy did in the Convent.
Michael, you’re the color genius. Surprised the decorative iron columns were going to be so dark. Maybe with the white tiled walls, and whatever you select for paint and flooring will be enough to keep it bright? 😊
You may want to store the plans unfolded and between sheets of archival tissue paper. Fun seeing them!
Wow, how incredible that you found those drawings! Love how the community around you is so willing to give back anything that is related to the Chateau and to the Convent. Excellent!
I enjoy finding out about the products used
Jackpot on all of those house plans. That’s a miracle!! What a kind gift the carpenter gave your family. Perfect timing.
To speed up the rust removal use what is called a descaler it is used to remove scale from weld
Excellent historical info!! Thanks Michael!! Carry on!
I really enjoyed the music Billy selects for the videos.
Really looking forward to seeing this kitchen reno.
Loved seeing the original plans. You are so fortunate to have so many of them, plus seeing the tops of the kitchen columns emerging from the rust is lovely...so decorative! Keep up the fine work!
The scanned and hi-res beautifully framed plans would look amazing around the finished kitchen.
A pneumatic scaler would likely have made work much easier for removing the unstable surface rust.
Michael that was so interesting & fascinating seeing all the plans. It was great you talked us through them. Thank you ❤
Well spoken Micheal ,heard every work you said ,love your smile ,lovely see you back ,
The kitchen at the convent is beautiful! What a lovely place to prepare a meal 🎉
This is very exciting. I can't wait to see the kitchen rebuild process and the end result.
Loving the Billy Michael Duo going on! And being at the Chateau. You are both such talented guys.
So wonderful having the time plans for the kitchen and other parts of the house. Such an important part of the château’s history.
The Convent kitchen is looking fantastic Billy as is the music you choose for the background of the videos. I like the pattern you made with the lawnmower too! Michael, you are a true artist! I think it's great that you received the plans and are planning on using them as a guide to rebuild. The Petherick Brothers certainly are cracking on!!!! Love it!
Such wonderful ideas for the kitchen!!
A suggestion for your original plans. Open them and lay them flat between archival paper. Then, store them flat in a large archival box. Folding them as they have been folded will create weak points, and eventually, they will tear at those folds.
One more thing, Michael is just so likable on camera. I'm so glad you're featuring him so much, Billy. What a treasure he is.
It made me smile to hear your voice Billy. 😊
Michael is just brilliant. I love his commentary and enthusiasm.
I love your dedication to the historical details and incorporating them into the restoration. It takes time and care, and all of you are doing a stellar job! Keep the videos coming!
A needle scaler would help get larger chunks of rust. It runsoff a air compressor would make quick work
The designs are a wonderful gift from the past and the paint colour in the basement was an amazing historical match Michael.
Great to have acquired the original plans.
Loving having Michael back in the videos and loving the attention to detail of the kitchen renovation ❤️
It's wonderful that you were given the original plans.
You are so right about gloves and historic books documents! Thank you for the video
I love how you’re using the original plans and adequate them to the current needs of the kitchen. It’s definitely gonna keep its style as when built.
Btw the olive tree looks amazing in the other kitchen.
How exciting to see the actual plans, amazing!
My daughter wants to know if Michael is unattached 😂
Michael is spoken for!
Yannis could use a nice girlfriend
thank you for all the wonderful content, Billy! Love being apart of this journey with you and your family.
So cool that carpenter gave you the original plans! What a treasure! Michael, you do such detailed work, no matter what the job is! You are such an interesting and multitalented chap!
Love your ideas for the kitchen Michael. It's going to look beautiful.❤
Late 1800s and through the early 1930s was a time of wonderful woodwork.
Love the plans. You should have high resolutions scans professionally made of them, you could sell prints or a calendar of the images to help fund the kitchen.
I’ve gotten my son hooked on these videos with me. I absolutely love how you are going to bring back the original design of the kitchen and how you take such care of what is already there. Oh to have the talent you all possess. Crack on with the amazing job!
How exciting to find he original plans! it’s lovely that you are finding creative ways to incorporate original design plans into your new space. It’s amazing that the plans haven’t deteriorated over the the years! Perhaps when you have a minute (!) get some acid free paper in which to sandwich them so that these treasures can be archived and preserved for future generations! There are methods that you would be able to find on line how best to do that! Not sure if you have architectural drawings are digital for your work but it would be a lovely addition to such a compilation.
It was very thoughtful of that carpenter's
son to bring you those old plans! What a
treat to be able to see how things were
situated in days of yore! Michael you
described everything so well;are you sure
you aren't an architect as well!😊
What a wonderful archive that is Michael. One of the things I most enjoy is cooking and baking period banquets in period kitchens, using period techniques. I first learned cooking over wood flame including spits and cauldrons. I am almost salivating at the idea of preparing a proper feast in that kitchen once it is restored (not that I expect an invitation to do it), but a widow can dream. I even baked bread in brick and clay ovens, and have a small but mighty collection of antique kitchen tools and implements.
I could even do Edwardians arranging a Roman Toga Party feast, or an Edwardian rendition of a Medieval party with costumes and foods…or even an Empire Regency ball with all the bells and whistles. You could make nice income by doing some of those with planning, and prepaid reservations. Just let me know if you ever want a period cook with a wide range, and who could connect the various pieces to provide a full immersive experience…and those on lower income might enjoy playing in the kitchen with me, over pretending they have wealth to be upstairs as guests. 🖤🇨🇦
For the cabinets dividing the dining and kitchen, you might consider building out glass upper cabinets to mimic the original divider. With doors that open from either side, it would be a showstopper piece to display vintage and everyday porcelain and glassware.
What a kind act of the gentleman giving all of the plans❤❤❤, this is so exciting and anticipated knowing what’s to come!
Use a battery SDS drill with an extra wide chisel bit to attach the worst of the rust
Wonderful Micheal!!!
How exciting acquiring original plans...what a find...!
What a marvellous treasure trove of information directly from the original designs. You could not be any luckier! Those are a real archive!
What a fabulous find!!
What a treasure! It will be so wonderful to see all of that original woodwork put back into place.
Thank you Michael for sharing so interesting 😊
Well done to you all for your restoration work of the chateau and convent
Thank you for showing us this wonderful creative resource.
Thank you, Michael, that was so very captivating!
Michael, you always have such wonderful ideas.
Most beautiful kitchen, when are you going to celebrate and do some cooking?❤ Michael is so talented as well and what a joy to see you bring these old buildings back to life.
💕How fascinating to see the original plans💕These will definitely make the kitchen one of a kind & extremely unique as the carpenter will be able to use them on other parts of the kitchen as well💕
Wow, this renovation of the rusted items is so interesting
Billy you have some high resolution cameras so take pics of all the plans.
How fascinating to have these plans!! How lucky you are. It is a shame not to have the other half, but how great this is!! To be able to faithfully reconstruct that kitchen…
Wonderful to see this room being restored and updated in keeping with the original plans. I would be tempted to move the kitchen upstairs into one of the huge grand rooms, but of course that would be historically inaccurate.
That was quite wonderful. All those drawings. My Dad was a self made architect and drew all by hand. As a kid it all felt magical to see the drawing go from a few lines to a complete home.
I remember my Dad, a carpenter, doing a simple drawing of a multibay garage and workshop, getting his consent, and then building it. 😊
That’s fantastic that gentleman shared those plans with you! What an exciting find! I hope you keep plans from work you’ve done to continue the documentation legacy.
Love the new between the chateau and the convent with Michael, Billy and team
Anzin, I know the place, I was born not far from there in the nord of France.🇫🇷
I am now living in Sydney in Australia for the last 40 years and enjoy so much watching your channel as it reminds me of the time I grew up in France.
You are all doing a beautiful job. All the best 🇦🇺🦘🦘🐨🇫🇷
What a treasure having those plans! I would however not fold them. Every time you fold and unfold you take the chance of damaging the delicate paper.
