Sometimes I need to fly something that isn't worth hundreds of dollars. It's liberating. Just taxiing a 'Wnited' 747 around the kitchen island, which it does perfectly.
Absolutely!!! Totally!
Love your Flightline!
A lot of solid points made in your commentary.
Thoroughly enjoyed your video.
It took me a couple of your videos but I think it's time for me to subscribe to you're channel now👍
Glad you did! Hope to keep you interested!!! Winter is tough for us addicts ;)
Hello again, awesome flights, both are flyers and look cool. Thank you for your video keep flying you guys.
thanks!
New subscriber, love your content already watched multiple videos. Keep up the with the good info!👍
Great!!! Glad to have another satisfied customer ;) I really love to share my experience, and hope you'll be around for a long time too come - Welcome!
Grande canale ,uno dei migliori in assoluto!
Thank you so much for the kind words!!!

Ottimo canale, uno dei migliori in assoluto!
Great video Brian, and happy fathers to you as well 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Thanks Jeff!
Thank you.
Thanks Brian, will be one of these for me 8yo.. Good video..
Glad to hear! They're really fun ;) Enjoy!
Hi Brian great video as always congratulations on the nice weather...thunder storms wind and torrential rain here in the uk 🇬🇧☔️...very impressed with how you fly those planes as they can be quite a challenge..I have an Ares sopwith pup really designed for indoor but in still conditions fly’s great outdoors it’s great fun ..best
Wishes Chris
That's awesome! (P.S. Just got your comment, from 3 months ago! Sorry for my slow reply!!!)
Thanks so much for the very quick reply and info. I know you get a ton of emails and I appreciate the response so much. I actually tried something different from what you suggested…and it worked. I watched several more videos, and in a couple I actually saw the person turn on the airplane first, and then the transmitter! Backwards huh? And guess what…the binding worked when I did that! So, for now at least, the problem is solved. You keep those great videos coming. I love your channel! Be safe…fly often, and ALWAYS thanks for the help!!! BrianPhillipsRC is awesome!
2:03 "Also, you can flip your planes over if there are little gusts of wind, you won't lose them over the edge of your truck." When I first heard you say this eons ago I thought it was the dumbest thing I ever heard. Now I do it all the time, works great. Thank you for teaching an old dog a new trick. Cheers!
Nice!!! I haven't had to do this for ever, but I guess I do remember saying it now ;)
Very cool I’m looking forward to buy one
Try to fly in calm for your maiden, and you'll love it!
Wow!! you moved , nice flying area. excellent video,
Yes, we're HERE ;) We love it here, but it's been a lot of work, and even more money!!! Glad to see you guys following us out here ;) LOL We REALLY need you to watch the videos now!!!!!!!
hey Brian, due to work/surgeries/family matters haven't been on YT in...months! the house is looking good and the first I have seen your runway. I thought I saw your disc golf catcher but it appears to be a mosquito machine. I have months to catch up and looking forward to it. Hope you and your family are happy in the new place. - Bill
Thanks Bill! Glad you're back ;)
I used to disk all the time, 4-5 times a week, but my disk buddy, my cousin moved to another state to live with his wife....so then I started flying RC aircraft in stead - GOOD FOR ME ;)
Looks good
thanks!
Thank you for the information on these two rc planes. Thank you for the nice video footage. Props to your wife for being supportive of your hobby. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you.
Thanks! There's about another 1500+ videos up for you now, and more coming ;)
New subscriber here‼️
Welcome!! Glad to have you here! If this plane wet's your whistle, wait till you get caught up to some more of the current stuff!!!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC i checked it out already..im new to flying so im starting with the cheap ones to see if i like it. 🤙
Nice, this is the second video I have seen on that 787. I have flown RC for about 15+ years. Wouldn’t mind getting one of these, wonder it they would bind to a spectrum radio. Did you try that?
Nope, they're not DSMX or DSM2 (or DSM)...they use something like V911 or some such thing....but despite having equipment that should bind to it (a Jumper TS8G - Multi-spectrum Radio System) I can't get it to work :(
Tjakepzzz 👌👍 Sangatzzz
Very 👌👍 Nice
Thanks!
It looks so easy to control for the QF008 When i recieved the package i tried 100 throttle at first then the gyro suddenly reacted and went up like a beast its the best plane for begginers.
Yes, it's a good plane, but still some are a bit easier to control. RTF is always a wise choice for new pilots. The Volantex SportCub 500 - amzn.to/36z22Or (Amazon) usa.banggood.com/custlink/vDDGQJlpQK (Banggood), is a really good choice, since it will fly more like a plane without all the flight aids, so will help a new pilot to learn to fly a little faster, but I really like these little airliners!
love the a380 plane. hope to buy one for my own😄👌👍
You should!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I ALREADY BOUGHT ONE😝😝😝😝 its coming on wednesday
Ah yea much better flight then yesterday
. They are neat looking for small ones.
For sure! I ended up flying both a couple times (just the one lipo each on video...) I used the 500mAh in the A380, and it did fly great...and FOREVER, but I forgot to time the flight. I want to try it with the 700mAh pack and see how the 787 does.
If it’s not boeing I’m not going! I rate that 787 at max, 8. Lol my attempt at puns are done! Great video and love those runways!
Amazing! (P.S. Just got your comment, from 3 months ago! Sorry for my slow reply!!!)
Streamer battles would be awesome))
I don't think these little guys would carry much of a streamer...maybe on TWO Viper Jets!!!!! Yeah!
Enjoyed your review, just a question? can all of these planes be bound to any
XK ̉- 6-8 Chanel radio? Thanks
Not that I know of, sorry! The protocol is not always the same, but they will fall into the 2.5GHz range...supposedly you can use a Jumper TS8G, but I can't get mine to work :(....
Good
Thanks
Hey man, love the videos. I just purchased an XK A150 on Amazon. Any differences from the A120?
Thanks
Almost nothing...they are so similar, except for the body. You'll love one, if you love the other. I did.
Brian Phillips how much room is in the battery bay? I’m looking to order a 500mah and it’s 8mm longer than the stock battery. Do you think it will it fit?
Thanks
Hello again Brian. First, before asking a question, just let me say...keep the reviews and thoughts coming for everything! As I've said before...I watch all your reviews. Now...my question. I bought one of the little "787" about a month ago, and just today put it together to fly. New batteries...I charged the airplane batteries, and based on the diagrams...plugged everything into the receiver where it needs to be (except for those lights). I turn on the transmitter, got a flashing red light and then solid light. I turn on the plane, get a flashing red light, but no steady light and nothing works...not the elevator or the motors. Any suggestions? I've checked and rechecked and rechecked the connections. Also, the vertical stab...does it have to make a connection (those metal tabs) to the fuse, and will that stay on without any tape, or are those simply magnets? Thanks for a reply Brian.
Did you go throttle UP (all the way), throttle DOWN (all the way)? You might need to ARM the motors. Give that a shot.
Hello Brian 2 Airplane 2-Champions😉😉😉😉🏆🏆🍻🍻🍻🍻

Ok Brian (and video crew), what air plane would you recommend for a new flyer and why that plane? Do you have that model? Thanks!
Sport Cub S UMX RTF - amzn.to/2CA3npq - Yes, I have one...in fact, I've had two. I LOVE it for a beginner, because you can get in the air almost immediately. Very inexpensive, BUT you have to learn to fly before you can move on.
Come back with more questions, but this is a GREAT starter plane. These airliners will just frustrate. They're actually pretty Hart to fly, if you ask me.
i know ur asking Brian but i would personally say the a380
it's really interesting your channel!!! If I measure the wind speed with an anemometer, up to what wind speed is it recommended to fly that plane? thanks!!!
Thanks! I'd say about 5mph would be within reason. If you can fly in calm conditions, you will enjoy it so much more.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thank you so much for your answer!!!!
Somebody needs to make these with ailerons!!! I hate how the industry makes "beginner planes" in 3 channel or worse thrust steering, giving everyone who tries flying one a bad experience. I fly everything from edf jets to 3d planes and helicopters, and I have problems keeping these type planes in the air!
You're SPOT on!!! I felt the same way with these at first. They are NOT easy to fly, in my personal opinion....BUT..they are very, VERY cool to watch fly in a scale manner.I too wish someone would make one with a true 5-6 channel experience. WHY DOESN'T Horizon Hobby make a UMX airliner???? 1.2m airliner???? Are they oblivious to these in the market?
Brian and friends love to get into the hobby. It appears either plane is good for a rookie.
Any tips, please reply and thank you
This plane is a lot of fun. If you're new to the hobby, you will need to plan on a lot of initial frustration, but you can do it. I would fly in a HUGE, VERY OPENED area, if you want to try it out for the first time, and do it on a DEAD CALM day, or you'll be very angry when you're done for the day ;) Good luck! I'm here to help how I can!
dear sir: sweet! Hi: in regards to the touchy elevator: Full scale pilots they tap the stick. So imagine you move the stick a quarter of the deflection very very quickly and return to neutral. Based on how much you need to move the elevator, you increase the number and frequency. In this way, you can get more granular with the controls. So, you are not pushing the stick to full defection, but you also are not moving the stick in tiny millimeters (our tactile touch can't move sticks by a fraction of a milimeter. It can, however, move a stck 3 to 5 mm very quickly and return to center. To move the elevator more, you repeat the tap in quick succession. It is a way to get more precise control.) This is a real thing. I flew briefly full scale and I did that with the elevator and aileron on landing where precision was needed.. If you watch a naval landing, you see the naval dude pushing the stick non stop tap tap tap. You know what I mean? no?
This is the way people used to control rc planes back in the day of reed controls, where there were no proportional controls. I don't doubt there are some pilots who do it, but I've never seen one.
I will try this when I'm out flying next.
Hey Brian, it's me, I was the guy asking about the F16 Thunderbird jet, and you recommend the Vampire. Well I'm not even close to that model yet, I got the WL Toys Cessna 149, and it flew like total shit today. What am I doing wrong?I couldn't get it to fly straight, it crashed more than it flew. The motor got knocked in a bit from the prop getting a few head on collisions, I wish I could get a tutorial from you. Any tips on this WL Toys Cessna? Thanks 👍!!
You gotta start with a super solid, and easy to fly plane like this, or you will keep repeating your current issues. I promise you CAN fly like I fly with some practice!!!
Here's a link. Check out my videos if you wish, but you will be able to fly this plane with SAFE, and FAR, FAR superior auto-leveling setup. It's way more intuitive, and easy to progress out of SAFE, where you can fly at all angles, and learn to fly.
Sport Cub S UMX RTF - amzn.to/2CA3npq
My Playlist...short but will show you what you need to see - ua-cam.com/play/PLXTH0DstRDc5gY8qX_x8kAJq3glGMXjDy.html
...please note that it's NOT cheap!!! It's over a $100!!! but you'll get it when you see it fly. You will be in love. I literally flew the motors out of mine...I went through 7 or 8 brushed motors before I upgraded it to a brushless one, and loved it some more...in fact, I still have it's Rx brick in my F4U Corsair UMX...
I can't encourage you enough, this is HOW I learned to fly.
Thanks for the comparison, I am just between this two, can you please clarify one thing for me please? I know that the 787 has trim on the controller, does the 380 have this as well? Thanks again, great video!
I honestly can't remember. Is there any chance you might be able to watch THAT plane's "Unbox, Build, and Radio Setup" to see? We do Playlists for each plane we review (except for WAY at the beginning of our channel), and this video just so happens to be the COMPARISON video, so that's why you didn't see the answer to your question, however the UNBOX and MAIDEN FLIGHT video would answer you quesiton about trim on the Airbus A380. This is the Playlist link - ua-cam.com/play/PLXTH0DstRDc4oi0-kQBVDIh0UNFtHI51c.html
Thanks for the quesiton, and sorry I can't even remember!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks, I'll check for that title on the channel.
I converted the stock transmitter to Mode 1 throttle right stick. The A380 flies great !
Nice! Glad you enjoyed it. This plane is a blast to fly!
@@BrianPhillipsRC yes lots of fun for $50 RTF
totally! IF it's calm, this plane is a blast!!!
I was not able to bind either of the xk520 transmitters to the 787 model. The smaller transmitter (no 3D mode) looks identical to the A380 transmitter.
I'm also having issues getting my Jumper to bind with any of the airliners...which was the main reason I got it :(
If it's Wl Toys protocol you should be able to bind it to a jumper. That would let you set expo. I have one of these on the way $45 AUD. I will have a go with the jumper.
I have one, and I haven't been able to get it to work.... :( If you have any pointers, I'd love to hear them!!!
I have both and according to me QF008/787 is a nice flyer, better scaled look, reasonably priced, it's fun to fly. But with 380, the fun factor was missing.
I feel like they both perform so similar, but at least with the XK planes, they're 95% assembled...but I think they're almost a wash, and I like them both ;)
kinda reminds me of flying a drone when its windy brian lol
Yep, only suggestions we're giving for control of the plane :)
@@BrianPhillipsRC you did a hell of a job the other day when it was blowing really hard
Thanks! It was kinda crazy to "control" ;)
muito obrigado ajudo muito
De nada! Obrigado por assistir :)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~You're welcome! Thanks for watching :)
EPO is the good stuff. My first plane was the 2 ch C-17 and I flew the cr@p out of it and it had many crashes until it got run over by a car. These two look like the same controller board with the same yaw control but with pitch on the tail. I might just replace the C-17 with one of these.
RAN OVER BY A CAR!??!?!? What?!?!?!!
are you a thumb flyer? When I used to fly 30 years ago, my instrutor drilled into me two finger control on the sticks. : ) cheers.
I fly thumbs.
Hey . I am a question, my can I use a380 receiver with the b787 transmitter ?
It's possible, if you have the Rx paired up, but even with the same planes, they sometimes change protocols. This means, even if you get TWO of the SAME plane, you might get a new style and old style...just don't want to tell you wrong.
@@BrianPhillipsRC ok thanks for your response
This was very helpful. I'm comparing for Christmas gifts. Totally different subject... I love your house! Can you tell me what color you used for the siding?
Absolutely!!! We have a whole BUILD SERIES for the house, if you're curious ;) Playlist and all!
It's a SHERWIN WILLIAMS - Cyberspace (Grey/blue) - Body / Origami White - Trim
We LOVE the color, BUT wanted it to be more grey and less "blue"...but I think it'll fade into that color in the next 5 year or so. The front door is Tri-corn Black, but it's holding up poorly.
Cute Lil' Planes... LOL Thanks PS Brian, They Will Probably Be Sendin You The XK A150 Boying B747 Airliner RC JET Next... Fore I've Just Seen It In The Winds!? LMAO...
It's on my list, but who knows when I'll get it ;)
You’re getting ANOTHER one?! No fair, Brian! 😜
I *still* haven’t received either of those planes I ordered two months ago. Gearbest refunded me for one of them (with no explanation why), but I’ve received nothing for the other. OH SNAP! Those jerks at GearWorst are sending you MY PLANE!! ✈️ 😝 lol
I'm sorry you're having trouble!!!
Maybe you could give Banggood a try?
XK A120 /Airbus A380 - ban.ggood.vip/cj6g
QF-008 / Boeing 787 - ban.ggood.vip/fupj
Brian Phillips Thank you; will do!
QF-008 plane is glued with glue right? So how do you change the engines?
I would suggest one of these...
Foam2Foam bit.ly/30RNnh0
OR
Mucilage bit.ly/3fdfzQp
They don't really make these planes very "serviceable" so I wouldn't worry too much about the motors ;) They'll be a huge pain to fix, if you have too.
Brain P I got 02 fx fly bear 802 I was flying it quiet well, after flying about minute I lose control on it when it fell to ground I took up it it's light blinks does it mean it's low on battery I mean remote control got bright light but light on plan blinks and when bring very close to controller it stables again ?
I wonder if you had a bad antenna??? It sounds like you lost connection to the plane, and then regained connection...
Well I tested it again and again and found out two things, first if it's little Windy then though we try to move it left right but due to wind it doesn't accept command and secondly after 10 to 12 min it's battery drans out, even I am a very basic beginner to rc world but I manage to fly it in wind, I will keep experimenting it but I guess if plane battery drains out it also lost connection may be let's see...
yes, about 10 minutes would be a safe flight time, if you prefer to use a flight timer.
Hi I was thinking on buying one. Which is better?
Pick which one you like better. The A380 goes together easier.
A380 amzn.to/3CLpRTg / bit.ly/2UWpQbN
747 amzn.to/3EREOVC / bit.ly/39XD6Bp
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks man ima see which one ima get 💯
So far I've watch just under half you video. I will wath the rest. Pitch stability or lack of could be caused by the CG being a little to far aft but I think the problem is the stability board being ov reactive in which case you will have to live with it . I have others in the series and they share the same issue. Physically reducing the elevator size (clipping off 3mm on trailing edge ot extending the elevator horns might do the trick. Last resort add a little weight to nose I will experiment and share with you. BAck to the video.
Thanks for the pointers Roy!
I buy one 787, Is coool!!!
For sure! They're sweet!!!
what type of battery connector is the a380?
Olá o meu deu problema ele quando conecta no controle remoto ele desliga e não liga mais , sabe me dizer qual é o motivo que ele não está funcionando ??
I know it's pretty simple, but are you sure you're got good batteries on BOTH the transmitter and plane? Sometimes the wall charger isn't working, so the Lipo isn't getting charged, so it turns off right away...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eu sei que é bem simples, mas você tem certeza de que tem boas baterias no transmissor e no avião? Às vezes, o carregador de parede não está funcionando, então o Lipo não está sendo carregado, por isso desliga imediatamente ...
the 787 does have trim on its own controller.. and is now from £27 on uk ebay
Do the trims work on yours? Mine don't seem to have any impact on the flight performance.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Hi Brian.. sorry for this late reply.. yes they do seem to work.. the up and down buttons on the lower half of the controller. I'm eagerly waiting for the Boeing 747 I think you or another review mentioned is coming out.. always loved that plane.. Please review that if you get it there before we get it in the uk.. 👍
I did review it... here's the link - ua-cam.com/play/PLXTH0DstRDc5wFx2j_VcV2cqOm6J8kuI-.html
I have both of these planes too. But I would fly the 787 with it's controller because it has trim on the elevator and the A380 does not.
I love flying both of these little planes. I'd love to see an updated version with some of the new flight controller enhancements, and maybe if they could pretty them up with SCALE sized EDF's - that would be so sweet!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I have 6 of these little twin motors and I have a Eachine all in one micro camera on all of them I use the same battery that powers the plane to power the camera. Real fun with my EV 100 goggles.
Oh will you look at that… just look at it… will you look at that?!! 😜
Did you like them?
@@BrianPhillipsRC absolutely…!!
Can you say which one is better? 787 or tha A380 ? I'm looking forward to buy.😊
Both ;) LOL
I like them both. I think the 787 is a bit more WORK, but it's slightly more pretty, if you have to pick one.
XK A120 Airbus A380 - amzn.to/2N1AMDo / bit.ly/2UWpQbN BG
QF-008 Boeing 787 - amzn.to/2IQSbt1 / bit.ly/2y3C1e9 BG
Are these good just to have multiple people to fly together in formation and not worry about expensive crashes
Well, trouble would be that they're not super "controllable" ;) BUT, they would look pretty sweet in formation, if you could get them into one!!!
I just got the 787 for 20 directly from the factory. Do you think it can stand with the wind on a beach?
Probably not, unless it's real light wind. I'd LOVE to make a slope soaring rig from one, but I'd loose the props and add rudder and elevator...sooooo cool that would be!!!
what glue can be used for this foam ?
FOAM SAFE CA - sometimes called "low odor" CA... amzn.to/3wkwwG8
Below is like rubber cement, but won't eat foam...
AIRBUS A380 WINNER!
LOL - they're both winners on this review ;)
can i use more mAH (example 500mAH) battery so that i can have more flight time?
yes, in fact, I believe I used 700mAh on these little beauties, and they worked really nicely. If it fits, you'll be good to go ;)
Cool. How long your flight time after you changed your battery?
What is the minimum space ( in yards ) needed to fly this plane please ?
I'd say maybe 100 yard since they don't turn really tight. If you were indoor, a couple basketball quarts MIGHT get the job done, but a soccer field would work.
@@BrianPhillipsRC many thanks
Sure thing! Good luck :)
Me: I think I'm happy with my paper airline models.
nice!
Bro has a Mini Airport in america 😍Dream 😂🎉❤
Where can I get one of the XK A380 battery's
...from banggood. Here's a link - bit.ly/2VGz248
The site says its for another XK plane, but it's cheaper, by almost half, and they're ALL the same!!!
Brian you can trim those planes
I'm sorry for not knowing (yet), but how do you trim them?
@@BrianPhillipsRC Theres 4 little buttons on the controller they are your trim tabs. Actually their not buttons they slide a little up or down and left and right.
I just checked and they are just plugged holes on my XK controller, but on the 787 controller, there are push buttons so maybe they do something??? They certainly didn't seem to be making any change
hi in fact there are the same Boards?
There seems to be some small differences in the controller board. You'd have to go back to the individual videos and do a side by side.
I have a question:
This airplanes can fly for wind efect??
It can fly in some wind, maybe 5mph would be okay.
Tanks for your answer.👍
a380 sounds more like a bug to me, but the 787 sounds 'almost' like an actual small jet engine, that's why I bought the 787.
Cool! I want to put the 30mm EDF's from the A-10 or Cessna Citation Longitude UMX in one of these and make it AWESOME!!!
A10 UMX & 64mm bit.ly/2P1i286
Citation Longitude UMX bit.ly/30RwdQ4
I just want to see what happens if you collide them together midair. Of course I know what would happen but I wonder if the styrofoam will rip apart from the material used for the plane.
It would be so much lamer than you're imagining ;( I have planes that would disintegrate on impact, but these are so small and light, it would be like watching two paper airplanes hit.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Aw man, I was expecting the disaster of DHL 611 and Bashkirian Airlines 2397
How high will these things go?
As high as you fly them in about 10 minutes or so flight time, but I like to be able to see them fly.
combine tapping the controls with two fingers on the stick, and you can get more precise control. No?
Depends on how you've learned to fly.
i like the boeng 787
It is the Boeing 787, and Boeing 747...but not licensed, is they have to use different names. If they were licensed, they'd be twice as expensive ;) Plus being their Chinese, they wouldn't license them anyway - LOL!
The 380 seems a lot smoother, better quality...
I thought that at first, but after a few calm flights of each, I'm convinced that they are almost exactly the same plane! If I could "tame" the elevator, I'd think they're both pretty impressive, but I'd really like to just turn off the flight aids, and fly them with no assistance. That would be really, REALLY nice!
@@BrianPhillipsRC I Have some Ideas about that, Brought on by My UMX Timber..
May I, Email You?, Also..
I have a couple pic's of My Mini Apprentice S(V3 Motor Mod) and My Latest "Build From BluePrint's, I'd like to show you...as well
Blue Sky N`Planes to Fly!!! Later ;) Kevin
What are your ideas (brought on by the Timber UMX)?
send me your email address like thisATdomainDOTcom or something to stop the bots from catching it.
With such few controls every flight is like that Denzel Washington movie Flight. Haha. Gotta fox that, that 787 needs ducted fans, ailerons, flaps and rudder. Do away with the landing gear and just land in the grass.
I want it all, just like you said ;) I'd also like to make one that's extra LIGHT, and only the minimal throttle, rudder, elevator. The dihedral makes this plane a perfect 3 channel, without differential thrust. I'd like to make it fly in my living room!!!
...oh yeah, I want to make the decorative nacelles into a proper EDF'ish unit...more or less just hosing the existing props, then I can make the things looks very scale!!!
Brian Phillips sweet!
Brian Phillips I’m wondering if the e-flite A10 motors and nacelles are close to the same size? It would just be a matter of using scotch tape to remove the paint from the A10 foam fan nacelles.
I think that would be one "easy" possibility :)
A380 the best a380 emirates.
I think it's pretty cool too!
Those planes are made of epp. Not epo
Okay, I'll take your word for it. I'm no expert of foam types.
O come on if you fly the 787 with its own controller you get to
2
modes beginner and intermediate on front right button
Left front button is for fitting lights
There’s 2 trim rates on its own controller
So you didn’t do your home work just bunged it on a completely different transmitter then you tell the subscribers and public there’s no trim on it or modes mines does loops on intermediate
I'm too distracted by the layout of your comment to understand if there is a point.
Toooooo much talking before the action starts.
